Penn State football may need a week off as much as anyone in the country.
The Nittany Lions must attempt to retool themselves in light of their disheartening 3-4 start, including the 21-18 meltdown defeat at Michigan — their fourth straight in Big Ten action — to start the Matt Campbell era.
The Lions have lost each of their conference games after beginning Campbell's first season in State College with three decisive, non-conference victories.
Penn State will not play this weekend, their only open date of the 2026 season. Its next game will be on Halloween against the Purdue Boilermakers (2-5, 1-3 Big Ten) in Beaver Stadium.
The Lions, stunningly enough, are in the middle of a four-game Big Ten losing streak for the second straight season. Last year, they lost six straight under fired head coach James Franklin and interim leader Terry Smith before winning at Michigan State.

We've got one ******* of an SEC season on our hands, huh?
No one is left undefeated, and the top of the table is a four-way tie between Tennessee, Georgia, Ole Miss, and… Kentucky?? And let's be honest, none of their losses were great. Tennessee dropped a home game to Texas, which has looked like a shell for two weeks. Georgia got punked by Auburn (again at home.) Ole Miss got run over by Florida which looks like the best or the worst team in the conference depending on when you tune in. And Kentucky didn't just get beat by Alabama in Lexington… they got waxed.
Mizzou fans might be down in the dumps after the Tigers' embarrassing showing in Oxford, but we're halfway through the season and have no idea how it's going to turn out. For all we know, Mizzou controls its own destiny. So it might as well start on Monday by resting up and getting ready for the Halloween showdown against Arky. Hopefully the rest of the conference can keep the chaos rolling in Week 8 and create an opening for Eli Drinkwitz's squad.
Some interesting lines this week for those of you watching. Auburn is getting no respect after waltzing into Athens and taking down Georgia, as they're giving 8.5 points to Lane Kiffin's up-and-down Bayou Bengals. Meanwhile, South Carolina is a one score favorite over conference leader Tennessee, while Texas – which is currently considering benching its two-year starter!! – is a 3.5-point favorite over an Ole Miss team that just beat a fellow ranked conference opponent by four scores.
Think you have any clue what's going to happen this week? Good for you. Check out the opening odds at FanDuel and press your luck. Because that's all you can count on at this point.

Emmie P grew up in a household so religious she was not allowed to dress up for Halloween. Now dressing up as someone else is a central part of her career.
The cosplayer, Twitch partner and car enthusiast sat down with host Wayne Ayers on "The Wayne Ayers Podcast" to talk about convention life, how she picks her costumes, why she prefers DC to Marvel, the ***** anese sports car she keeps modifying and what aspiring streamers should do before they go live.
Ayers first met her at Anime Expo in Los Angeles, where a video of their conversation went viral. He said people still ask him about her.
"That was actually my first convention that I ever went to as a creator that you caught me at," she said. "It was a really cool experience. But I've just been getting more into the actual convention game of cosplay. Usually I just do it from my home, but I'm getting super comfortable with it now."
She has since been to Anime NYC, which she described as a huge ***** e with plenty to do but fewer activities than the Los Angeles show, where she played Beyblade on stream with a friend. Cellphone service was another problem for someone who streams from the convention floor.

Taylor Swift cross-eyed jokes took center stage during the latest episode of the New Heights podcast. Travis Kelce couldn't help but react after spotting a fan-made Halloween display inspired by him and his wife. While he loved the festive tribute, one funny detail immediately caught his attention.
Travis Kelce shared a hilarious reaction after seeing a Halloween display featuring hay versions of himself and Taylor Swift.
On the latest episode of the New Heights podcast, Travis and his brother, Jason Kelce, looked at fan-submitted Halloween decorations. One display showed "Haylor Swift" wearing a sparkling outfit inspired by the Eras Tour alongside "Travis Kelc-Hay" in a Kansas City Chiefs uniform.
After seeing the display, Travis jokingly asked, "Why'd they have to make my wife cross-eyed?" The eight-word remark quickly became one of the episode's funniest moments.
Jason agreed that Taylor's eyes looked slightly crossed in the decoration. He then joked that maybe she was about to sneeze. Travis laughed and revealed there was some truth behind the joke. "She does go cross-eyed before she sneezes," he said, prompting more laughter between the brothers.

Spooky season is here, which means Kings Island's Halloween Haunt is in full swing, and a famous Cincinnati native stopped by for all the thrills and chills.
Nick Lachey, the 98 Degrees boy band member and "Love Is Blind" host, shared the family outing to Kings Island in an Oct. 6 Instagram post. Lachey, along with his three children and wife Vanessa, with whom he co-hosts "Love Is Blind," posed in front of one of the park's most beloved (or hated) rides, depending on whom you ask: The Beast.
"Beast Mode activated! Kicked off Fall at Kings Island. Kids loved riding The Beast, the longest wooden rollercoaster in the world! Kings Island … you still got it!" he wrote.
Lachey's recent Kings Island visit was a full-circle moment as the singer, who attended the School for Creative & Performing Arts in Over-the-Rhine, also worked at Kings Island as a teenager. The 98 Degrees member was in a barbershop quartet.
"I started off singing a cappella barbershop music, walking around the park and singing to guests," Lachey said in a 2013 interview, per The Hollywood Reporter.

Season 35 of Dancing With the Stars premiered on September 15, 2026.
Each week, the stars and their pro partners collaborate on costumes that complement the theme and style of their dances.
InStyle looks back at 13 of the best Dancing With the Stars fashion moments throughout the years.
You may think you're simply reaching the age when Dancing With the Stars starts catering to you, but the long-running competition series is having a major moment in general. So, no matter your age, it makes sense if you've suddenly found yourself completely engrossed in the celebrity-meets-dance-pro spectacle (and keeping who's delivering a perfect 10 each week).
Of course, the choreography is only part of the fun. The themed costumes are often just as entertaining as the dances themselves, with every performance bringing a new opportunity for sequins, fringe, feathers, sheer fabrics, and plenty of sparkle. And when Disney Night, Halloween Night, or the freestyle round rolls around, you can pretty much count on the wardrobe department pulling out all the stops. Depending on the dance and its theme, contestants can transform from Old Hollywood starlets in sweeping gowns to disco divas dripping in rhinestones—and sometimes undergo multiple transitions in a single episode.

Jota of Celtic scores their team's second goal during the Scottish Premiership match between Celtic FC and theRangers at Celtic Park Stadium on September 03, 2022. (Photo by Ian MacNicol/Getty Images)
The Portuguese star has been sidelined since suffering the serious knee injury last April and endured several setbacks during his rehabilitation.
However, Jota is now back involved in contact training with his Celtic teammates and has been taking part in small-sided matches.
The winger was initially expected to return around Halloween and was left out of Celtic's 25-man Europa League squad, but O'Neill believes he could now be available ahead of schedule.
"He's coming along very well. Again, it's disappointing to not have him for Europe," O'Neill said via Daily Record. "He's been out a long time and who knows, in the last three games in the Europa League we could have done with him.

The Hershey Company (NYSE: HSY) is heading into the autumn months with the tailwinds of pricing power and seasonal demand. The one stat that makes the company hard to ignore right now is its revenue growth relative to cocoa costs, which have increased by more than 120% in the past six months.
One might think a triple-digit rise in the cost of a core ingredient would hurt business, but the company's second-quarter earnings showed net sales up 6.6% year over year. Adjusted earnings per share in Q2 rose a whopping 57% in the same time period. This demonstrates Hershey's brand strength and its ability to price products without scaring off customers.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
Hershey's research found that 82% of parents are likely to purchase chocolate in October, and intend to buy gummies and sour candy even earlier in the season. In response, management is planning a "Hersheyween," which runs from the end of the summer into the fourth quarter. The promotion is Hershey's largest-ever Halloween lineup.
Hershey's stock trades at a slight premium to some of its peers in the packaged-goods industry, but the sweets company offers a tasty 3.2% dividend yield and decades of consistent payouts. Hershey is currently well below its 52-week high of $239. The stock is relatively flat year to date.

So I am hanging out on Yahoo Finance AlphaSpace on Wednesday morning, a few minutes after calling out ******* 's Sporting Goods (DKS) on Instagram for its horrific earnings day this week.
I randomly check the stock price of fellow big box retailer Target (TGT), only to find it had an ugly session the day before. It caught my attention because the broader market had hung in there, and I didn't see any ******* yst downgrades on Target.
I then came across something on Target with the word "backlash" in it.
"What the ******* did this company do now?" I muttered to myself.
It wasn't hard to find out. Target apologized this week for selling a kids' circus clown Halloween costume that critics said evoked racist minstrel imagery. The orange-and-black costume, which included gloves, a top hat, and a mask resembling a smiling mouth with large teeth, was removed from the website, but not before consumers took Target to task.

Viola Davis appears willing to move forward with Target after its controversial Halloween costume sparked outrage. The actress initially rejected the retailer's apology. However, she now says rebuilding trust will depend on concrete changes, including renewed DEI efforts and stronger support for Black-owned businesses. Over the years, Davis has been upfront in championing Black causes, advocating for equal pay for Black actresses, and revealing how she's been turned down for roles because of her color.

Viola Davis has finally de-escalated her criticism of Target, opening the door to forgiveness after previously rejecting the retailer's apology over an offensive Halloween costume.
The Oscar winner was approached at LAX on Friday and asked whether Target could regain consumers' trust following the controversy. Davis told TMZ that forgiveness is possible, saying, "There is always room for forgiveness. There is… In my world."
However, the actress said she believes the company needs to demonstrate meaningful change. Among the steps she wants to see are restoring diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives and providing greater support for Black-owned businesses.

Coca-Cola (KO) has spent nearly a century tying itself to Christmas.
Its decades of Santa advertising, starting in the 1930s, helped popularize and cement the jolly, red-suited Santa Claus most people picture today.
That connection sells a lot of soda every December.
Now the beverage giant wants a second holiday to call its own, and it is handing the job to Fanta.
The plan runs deeper than a seasonal ad. Fanta is building its own cast of Halloween characters and rolling them out worldwide.

Target apologized Monday and removed a Halloween costume from sale after critics said it evoked Blackface imagery, sending Target stock down as much as 5% on Tuesday.
The product, sold under Target's Hyde and EEK Boutique brand as the "Kids' Glows Under Blacklight Circus Clown Halloween Costume," ignited social media criticism from shoppers who said its imagery recalled racist caricatures tied to the minstrel show tradition. "As a company, we know we got this wrong, and we are deeply sorry," Target said in a statement. "The costume is offensive and should never have been part of our ******* ortment."
Target declined to comment on who designed the costume or to provide details about the product approval process, according to Reuters. In an internal email viewed by Reuters, Chief Merchandising Officer Cara Sylvester told employees the item "never should have been in our ******* ortment."
The apology did not satisfy some stakeholders. Sheletta Brundidge, a Minneapolis entrepreneur who protested Target's DEI rollbacks last year, said Target "keeps showing us who they are." Brundidge, speaking to CNN, framed the costume as a consequence of those rollbacks: "You rolled back diversity," she said, "so who's in the room, now, to say 'hey, this is wrong?'" A post in the BlackPeopleofReddit community, which has 1.6 million members, urged a boycott of the retailer.
Tejal Patel, executive director of Target shareholder SOC Investment Group, called the costume "another example ... where Target has lost trust with its consumer base." Morningstar ******* yst Brett Husslein said the selloff exposed how precarious Target's market standing has become, pointing out that the chain must win customers through experience and goodwill rather than the low prices that drive shoppers to Walmart and Costco.

2028 four-star defensive back Zion Dobson is a key target for the Florida State Seminoles. They didn't offer him until May, but he came to a camp a few weeks later, and he's since gotten close with FSU's cornerbacks coach Blue Adams.
Their communication has been so strong that it's put the Seminoles in an exclusive club when it comes to Dobson's recruitment. The 6-foot, 160-pounder says that FSU is one of the schools that has been the most consistent with their efforts in getting him to commit.
"South Carolina, Florida State, LSU, Virginia Tech are the schools really contacting me a lot and keeping up with me," Dobson said via 247Sports.
Dobson is the No. 164 player nationally, the No. 12 safety, and the No. 7 prospect in North Carolina according to 247Sports composite rankings. Rivals industry rankings have Dobson as the No. 205 player, the No. 20 cornerback, and the No. 9 recruit in North Carolina.
He has locked in a game visit with FSU for their Halloween showdown with the Clemson Tigers. There's also game visits with the California Bears (Sept. 5), South Carolina Gamecocks (Oct. 3), Virginia Cavaliers (Oct. 17), LSU Tigers (Nov. 7), and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (Nov. 21) scheduled for Dobson. So, they can't afford to slack off in their approach with him.
