Interested in 3M Company? Here are five stocks we like better.
3M says it is ahead of its 2027 targets, citing 5.4% second-quarter organic growth, higher margins, improved execution and on-time, in-full delivery rising to about 90%.
Data centers are a major growth priority. Its expanded beam optics technology has been standardized by Microsoft Azure, is being evaluated by five other hyperscalers, and could address a market approaching $2 billion within the next two years.
Innovation and cost reductions are supporting the outlook: 3M plans more than 350 new-product launches this year, is consolidating factories, expects to offset $150 million–$175 million in oil-related costs through pricing, and is tracking above its 25% operating-margin goal for next year.

Two former Robinhood engineers allegedly used confidential information about upcoming cryptocurrency listings to make profitable trades on decentralized exchange Hyperliquid, federal prosecutors said Tuesday.
Hefu Chai, 36, and Huaisong "Jerry" Xiang, 30, each face one count of commodities fraud and one count of wire fraud.
"Today's charges make clear that corporate insiders cannot evade the securities and commodities laws by trading based on misappropriated information in derivatives like perpetual futures, tokenized securities, or other similar financial instruments," U.S. Attorney Jamie McDonald said in a statement.
Perpetual futures, or "perps," let traders speculate on an **** et's price—often with leverage—without owning it. Unlike conventional futures, the derivatives do not expire. Hyperliquid is one of the largest decentralized platforms for trading perps and has faced increased regulatory scrutiny.
According to the DOJ, the engineers allegedly used nonpublic information about upcoming Robinhood Crypto token listings to buy related perpetual futures before the announcements, earning profits "for their own benefit" between 2025 and 2026. Each defendant earned more than $50,000 from the alleged scheme, the Justice Department said.

A resilient performance during the second quarter was primarily driven by robust momentum within the Aerie sub-brand and OFFLINE collection. There was a 6% year-over-year growth in company-wide comparable sales, whereas the Aerie's comparable sales picked up by 19%. Total gross profit for the quarter reached $672 million, which shows a 34% increase against $500 million for Q2 FY25. This pushed Q2 gross margins to 48.7%, a jump of 980 basis points relative to the previous year's quarter, despite 330 basis points deleveraging across the merchandise margins. Compared to an 8% operating margin in Q2 FY25, the company posted 15.3% margin in the recent period.
Even with a slight dip in comparable sales, the American Eagle brand also exhibited some encouraging signs. It posted sequential gains from the previous quarter, which marks the fourth consecutive quarter of expansion across menswear.
Results for the reported period were bolstered by $196 million in International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) tariff refunds, which also included interest payments. This resulted in an additional $35 million in incentive compensation set aside by the company, which affected both gross profit and SG&A. After taking these additional expenses into consideration, the overall operating income gains related to tariff refunds amounted to $161 million.

Following a strong rebound from the first-quarter decline, the S&P 500 gained 15.2% as accelerating capital spending toward artificial intelligence infrastructure drove significant gains across technology hardware companies. In the quarter, Auxier Focus Fund's Investor Class gained 8.82% and 10.70% for the six months ended June 30, 2026. Despite strong earnings growth across the broader market, Auxier highlighted concerns around rising margin debt, increased leverage, and elevated capital flows into high-growth technology areas that could amplify future volatility. The firm continues to focus on identifying enduring businesses with strong competitive advantages, resilient cash flows, and sustainable long-term growth potential. The five largest relative detractors were all strong-performing benchmark components in the technology sector that the fund didn't own during the quarter. For example, Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) (+186%) was the largest relative detractor for the period. AMD competes in many markets with Nvidia, which we preferred and has outperformed AMD in many recent quarters. Also, AMD pays no dividend, whereas Nvidia does. The past three months, though, AMD had by far the better return, aided by better-than-expected earnings for Q1 that were driven by accelerating demand for AI infrastructure."

GSK plc (NYSE:GSK) plans to close its vaccine manufacturing facility in Dresden, Germany, by summer 2027, putting 641 jobs at risk. The decision reflects declining demand for traditional egg-based flu vaccines, which has left GSK with more manufacturing capacity than it needs. GSK reviewed its Dresden and Ste-Foy, Canada, flu vaccine sites and chose to consolidate production in Canada, which it says can meet anticipated demand more sustainably and competitively.
The closure comes as GSK plc (NYSE:GSK) is shifting its influenza strategy toward newer technology: the company is advancing an mRNA-based seasonal flu vaccine into Phase III after Phase II results showed stronger immune responses than standard-dose vaccines in younger adults and high-dose vaccines in older adults. The broader vaccine environment has also weakened, with Reuters reporting declining sales across flu, RSV, and other vaccines amid lower demand and policy-related pressures, increasing the importance of manufacturing discipline and portfolio selection.
Copyright: kadmy / 123RF Stock Photo
The closure could ultimately strengthen GSK plc (NYSE:GSK)'s margins and cash generation by removing excess capacity from a declining part of the influenza market rather than continuing to carry the fixed costs of an underutilized facility. GSK explicitly said demand for traditional egg-based flu vaccines is falling and that it has more capacity than required, while the Canadian facility can meet anticipated future demand competitively.
This is particularly important because GSK's vaccine business remains a significant earnings contributor but is increasingly being driven by products with better growth prospects: second-quarter 2026 vaccine sales rose 8% to £2.3 billion, with meningitis vaccines up 21% and Arexvy sales increasing by more than 100%, while Shingrix generated £0.9 billion. The Dresden decision therefore looks less like a retreat from vaccines overall and more like a reallocation of manufacturing capacity away from mature egg-based products toward higher-value technologies.

The artificial intelligence (AI) boom is entering a new phase, and this time, the battle is moving deeper into the data center. It is no longer simply about who can build the fastest AI accelerator. Hyperscalers are scrambling for more compute, faster connectivity, and better power efficiency as AI workloads continue to grow at a breakneck pace. That is opening the door for chipmakers that can deliver customized, energy-efficient solutions at scale.
Qualcomm (QCOM) wants a seat at that table. The company just landed a major multi-generational collaboration with Amazon (AMZN) to supply customized silicon, systems, and related technology for large-scale AI data centers, with a focus on inference. The partnership also extends into high-speed optical connectivity, an increasingly critical piece of the AI infrastructure puzzle.

Auxier ****** et Management, an investment advisory firm, released its second-quarter 2026 investor letter. The letter can be downloaded here. Following a strong rebound from the first-quarter decline, the S&P 500 gained 15.2% as accelerating capital spending toward artificial intelligence infrastructure drove significant gains across technology hardware companies. Semiconductor and data-center-related businesses benefited from supply constraints and strong demand, while enterprise software remained under pressure as investors reassessed AI disruption risks and compressed valuations. Management reports that they are generating about $2 of value for every $1 spent on AI due to reductions in manual labor. We like this measured approach to implementing AI where it can provide clear operational benefits and attractive returns, which has been a key strategy of current CEO Stephen Hemsley. UnitedHealth's success in AI use highlights the technology's potential on the user side where companies can benefit without the high upfront cost of building the infrastructure. Auxier ***** et Management, an investment advisory firm, released its second-quarter 2026 investor letter. Also, check the fund's top five holdings to see its best picks in 2026.
In its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, Auxier ***** et Management highlighted The Kroger Co. (NYSE:KR). The Kroger Co. (NYSE:KR) is a leading supermarket chain that operates combination food and drug stores, multi-department stores, marketplace stores, and price impact warehouses. On September 14, 2026, The Kroger Co. (NYSE:KR) closed at $60.91 per share. Over the past month, The Kroger Co. (NYSE:KR) returned 10.12%, but its shares are down 7.06% over the past year. Auxier ***** et Management stated the following regarding The Kroger Co. (NYSE:KR) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"Consumer staples underperformed during the quarter. Elevated inflation, high interest rates and rising gas prices contributed to lower consumer spending, impacting companies like The Kroger Co. (NYSE:KR) and PepsiCo. Although Kroger's stock has been weak, its new CEO Greg Foran brings exceptional leadership that promises positive change. While he was President of Walmart US from 2014-2019, the company achieved 20 consecutive quarters of same-store sales growth and scaled its online grocery pickup. Since joining Kroger he has aggressively reduced prices and boosted the growth in private label and organic offerings. The stock trades at a mere 12 times earnings which is a significant discount to both Costco and Walmart."

The five largest relative detractors were all strong-performing benchmark components in the technology sector that the fund didn't own during the quarter. For example, Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. Also, AMD pays no dividend, whereas Nvidia does. The past three months, though, AMD had by far the better return, aided by better-than-expected earnings for Q1 that were driven by accelerating demand for AI infrastructure."

The Republican speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, announced on Wednesday that he would again cancel votes scheduled for Thursday, sending lawmakers home one day early ahead of the midterm election recess.
The latest change to the legislative schedule means House members will avoid voting on Republican Thomas Massie's resolution to impeach the defense secretary, Pete Hegseth, and comes amid a frenzied attempt to propose legislation on artificial intelligence.
It's the latest round of cancellations at the hands of Johnson, who had already cut the pre-election session short by two weeks. Democrats have reacted angrily, encouraging Johnson to keep lawmakers on Capitol Hill before the midterm recess beginning on Friday.

"I think it shows the cowardice of the Republican party. They are canceling votes to do business for the American people because they are afraid that that impeachment resolution of Pete Hegseth would pass on a bipartisan basis," the Democratic representative Pramila Jayapal told MediasTouch.

ASML Holding N.V. (NASDAQ:ASML) is examining ways to produce more than 110 EUV lithography systems in 2028, according to JPMorgan ***** ysts following a meeting with CFO Roger Dassen. The company is already nearly sold out for 2027 and expects to produce at least 80 EUV systems that year, meaning output above 110 in 2028 would represent at least a 37.5% increase from the 2027 level. JPMorgan said the main constraint has shifted toward ***** embly speed rather than the availability of critical components, suggesting ASML believes additional capacity can be unlocked through manufacturing and ***** embly improvements.
The potential increase is being driven primarily by AI-related demand. ASML's existing EUV machines, which cost roughly $200 million each, are essential for manufacturing leading-edge AI processors, while customers including TSMC, Samsung, SK Hynix and Intel are expanding advanced-chip capacity. Reuters reported separately that virtually all of ASML's EUV production capacity is booked through 2027, while the company has begun construction of a new Eindhoven facility designed to accelerate tool ***** embly and eventually accommodate up to 20,000 workers.
The strongest bullish implication is that ASML Holding N.V. (NASDAQ:ASML) may be able to convert exceptionally strong demand into higher unit volumes rather than simply relying on price increases. Moving from at least 80 EUV systems in 2027 to more than 110 in 2028 would materially expand the number of high-value systems ASML can monetize. This comes after the company already raised its 2026 revenue outlook to €43 billion–€45 billion, compared with its previous €36 billion–€40 billion range, while targeting a 54%–56% gross margin. Reuters also reported that second-quarter revenue reached €9.3 billion with a 54% gross margin, demonstrating that stronger AI-driven demand is already translating into financial performance.
The longer-term competitive position is particularly favorable because ASML Holding N.V. (NASDAQ:ASML) effectively has no commercial competitor in EUV. JPMorgan estimates that ASML held 94% of the overall lithography market in 2025, while Reuters describes the company as having maintained a monopoly in EUV since the late 2010s. At the same time, customers are committing to ASML's next-generation High-NA technology: the machines cost approximately $400 million, can print features about 40% smaller than existing EUV systems, and TSMC, Samsung, and SK Hynix have all established plans for production adoption. If AI chip demand remains strong enough to support both higher low-NA volumes and eventual High-NA adoption, ASML could see a multi-year increase in system shipments, revenue, and potentially cash generation while strengthening its already exceptional competitive moat.
