Genoa v AC Milan, the final away game of the season. At Marassi, home to the Luigi Ferraris Stadium (named after a former Genoa player), the Rossoneri head into the end of their campaign aiming for a win against the Rossoblù. Recent encounters have proved favourable for us, with a record of six wins from the last seven trips to Genoa. One of the most memorable was on 7 October 2023, when the Rossoneri won thanks to a goal from Pulisic, before a dramatic finale that saw Olivier Giroud step in as goalkeeper.
In front of around 33,000 spectators, Pioli's Rossoneri went into action just days after a goalless away game in Dortmund against BVB. In the league, they had shown promising form, and they were on their way to a fourth straight win and a seventh victory from their first eight matches. There were several changes to the Rossoneri lineup, with the attacking trio Chukwueze, Jović, and Okafor starting. The match was close and hard-fought, with Gilardino's Genoa defending well and posing a serious attacking threat. The chances came in the final 30 minutes. Leão's header hit the crossbar, and Maignan produced a spectacular save to deny a deflected left-footed effort from Drăgușin. The final minutes turned into a frantic end to the match with everything still possible. In the 87th minute, Pulisic found a cross sent in by Musah and sent it to the back of the net to give the Rossoneri the lead. The goal was given after a VAR review by referee Piccinini.
In the 96th minute, Maignan came off his line and went into a challenge with Ekuban on the edge of the box. Following a VAR review, referee Piccinini showed our goalkeeper a straight red for a serious foul. With all substitutions already used up, Giroud went in goal. In the 102nd minute, after five minutes of stoppage time, the free kick was taken: Tomori deflected Guðmundsson's shot onto the crossbar. Then just a minute later, the Genoa goalkeeper, Josep Martinez, was also sent off for a second yellow after a foul on Musah inside the Rossoneri penalty area. In the 104th minute, Giroud stepped up with a heroic save, rushing out bravely to deny Pușcaș's attempt at goal. A dramatic finale in an unforgettable encounter.

Ayyoub Bouaddi continues to attract attention from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, and now former France striker Olivier Giroud (and Bouaddi’s current teammate at Lille) has added his voice to the growing hype surrounding the Moroccan midfielder.
Speaking in an interview with the BBC, Giroud offered an ***** sment of the 18-year-old, while jokingly pointing to the one area of his game that still needs improvement.
“At Lille, we make fun of Bouaddi a lot because of his finishing. If he has that quality, he’ll be playing for Real Madrid next year. He’s very similar to Busquets. He’s got his head screwed on right. It’s going to be difficult to keep him at Lille. I’m sure they’ll pay more than 70 million for him.”
The teenager has emerged as one of the most highly rated prospects in French football and has recently been linked with several major European clubs. Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly among the teams monitoring his situation closely, while Real Madrid have also been mentioned as a potential destination as the club continues to evaluate long-term midfield options.

A stunning brace by Kylian Mbappé broke France’s all-time scoring record as Didier Dechamp’s farewell World Cup got off to a flyer with a 3-1 win over Senegal.
Mbappé opened the scoring in the 65th minute, spinning in behind the Senegalese defence before tucking the ball into the far corner, and powered home a brilliant effort in injury time which saw him reach 58 goals to overtake Olivier Giroud.
Bradley Barcola came off the bench to make an instant impact, adding a second goal for his side by lifting the ball over Édouard Mendy.
Teenager Ibrahim Mbaye gave Senegal a brief lifeline in the 95th minute, however that was quickly squashed by Mbappé’s outstanding second.

But none better - in goalscoring terms at least - than Kylian Mbappe after his goal in his country's World Cup opener against Senegal.
The Real Madrid forward has become France's joint record scorer, equalling Giroud in the record books with his 57th goal for Les Bleus, aged just 27.
"Congratulations Kylian," Giroud said on BBC One, working as a pundit for France's game against Senegal. "I'm happy for him. It's a great finish and we are level now, you need to score another one Kylian.

France's record goalscorer Olivier Giroud has extended his contract with Ligue 1 outfit Lille by one season, the club announced on Monday.
The 39-year-old former ***** nal, Chelsea and AC Milan striker scored 57 goals in 137 games for France during a 13-year international career.
"I identify with Lille's vision, a club with values I share, one that works hard and stands out from the rest through its approach and results," 2018 World Cup winner Giroud said in a statement.
"I always want more, and I'm determined to keep going and do even better this year."
Giroud joined Lille last season and scored decisive goals including four in the Europa League.
