Packers' Xavier McKinney reveals NFL fined him for ripping refs after loss to Lions appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Green Bay Packers returned to the win column after outlasting the Carolina Panthers, 27-19, at Lambeau Field on Thursday. The Packers improved to 5-3, while the Panthers dropped to 3-4.
Green Bay bounced back after falling short against the Detroit Lions, 20-17, at Ford Field in Week 7. After the loss, Xavier McKinney did not hold back on the referees, blasting them for what he deemed were questionable calls, including a critical penalty in the fourth quarter.
"I don't know how the NFL's going to treat it, but I'm not a big fan of the refs right now. I don't think it's great officiating, if I'm being completely honest. I think it's b******* a lot of the time," said McKinney.

Packers' Josh Jacobs explains what misinterpreted TD celebrations actually meant appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Green Bay Packers failed to run the ball efficiently yet again despite leaving Lambeau Field with a 27-19 victory over the Carolina Panthers, but Josh Jacobs still drew plenty of attention all the same. After scoring a go-ahead one-yard rushing touchdown in the second quarter, he put his hands behind his back as if he was wearing handcuffs.
The 2022 First-Team All-Pro was arrested in May regarding a domestic dispute with his then-girlfriend and pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges of battery and criminal damage to property. The optics of such a TD celebration are obviously awful, but Jacobs claims his actions were misconstrued.
"Me and {wide receiver Savion Williams} came up with a celebration. They haven't seen the whole celebration," the former rushing yards leader and three-time Pro Bowl selection told reporters after the game, per Matt Schneidman of The Athletic. "Basically, last week, we said the first celebration when I score, I was going to thank God. That's what I did. The second was going to be break every chain, it's a gospel song. That was going to be the next celebration (he was immediately swarmed by his teammates). It's just a correlation.

Will Panthers make a trade to fix banged-up cornerback room? Dave Canales weighs in appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Carolina Panthers have a growing problem in their secondary. Head coach Dave Canales, though, is not ready to reveal whether the team will seek outside help before the NFL trade deadline. Following Thursday night's 27-19 loss to the Green Bay Packers, Canales addressed the possibility of a roster move. He also pointed to an internal option who could soon get his opportunity. With several cornerbacks sidelined, Carolina's depth is facing an increasingly difficult test.

Panthers' Dave Canales admits Bryce Young's knee injury is affecting him after Packers loss appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Bryce Young didn't look like himself in Week 8. His knee injury is the biggest reason why. It may be taking away one of the most important weapons in his game. Even Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales is no longer hiding that concern. Following Thursday night's 27-19 road loss to the Green Bay Packers, Canales acknowledged that Young's mobility has been affected by the lingering issue. This has raised questions about Young's ability to extend plays as Carolina enters a crucial stretch of its season.

Hawks' Quin Snyder reveals 'growth' moment that helped break three-game losing streak appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
ATLANTA – After starting the season 2-0, the Atlanta Hawks had lost their last three games coming into their matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers. They've had several problems throughout the course of the week, but nothing was bigger than making shots, which in turn bled into their defense not getting stops when they needed.
It looked like that was going to be the case again for the Hawks in the first quarter, where they only scored 16 points. Luckily, they were able to turn things around in the second, and it felt like how things were when they first started the season. They scored 30 points in the second, while only allowing 16 points from the Cavs.
"It's harder to defend when you're not scoring because they're running at you," head coach Quin Snyder said after the game. "But even beyond that, you have to be mentally tough to dig in defensively, and we hung in there with that. Then the offense eventually started; we kind of settled in. That dynamic was a really important one in the game. That's growth for us."

LSU's Lane Kiffin staunchly defends 24-team CFP while taking dig at other conferences appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.

Kiffin is not just in favor of this expected format change. He believes it is essential, particularly for an SEC that is brimming with parity and deeply passionate fan bases.
"I think it had to happen," Kiffin said, per On3's Jonathan Wagner. "You could say 12 is better, but not when you take into account the way college football is set up now. The conferences are so different, the four conferences. They are. They're different stadiums, they're different environments, they're different middle to bottom of them. Patriots vs. Dolphins bold predictions for AFC East clash in NFL Week 8 appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The New England Patriots will be a rested and motivated team when they take the field in South Florida to take on the Miami Dolphins. The Patriots lost a hard-fought game against the Chicago Bears last Thursday night, but the defeat was a competitive effort that demonstrated they could play on the road against a team with legitimate Super Bowl aspirations.
The ****** ignment this week doesn't compare. The Dolphins lack the kind of talent on either side of the ball to put up a 60-minute fight against QB Drake Maye and a motivated Patriots team. Miami earned its first victory of the season in their Week 7 game against the New York Jets, but they benefitted greatly from an inefficient and sloppy game from the Jets.
It is unlikely that the Patriots will come at them in a similar manner. New England has played four consecutive solid games, and three of them were victories. When they took down the Buffalo Bills on the road in Week 4, it demonstrated that Mike Vrabel's team was back on track and was ready to make a run at the AFC East ****** le once again.

Valkyries most to blame for ugly WNBA Finals Game 6 loss vs. Dream appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.

The Valkyries entered Thursday's matchup having won two consecutive games, but looked nothing like the team that had taken control of the series. Atlanta's offense came alive early, while Golden State struggled to generate much of anything on the other end.

Potential Yankees-David Bednar reunion's importance draws honest opinions appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The New York Yankees have several important decisions to make this offseason, but what they do with David Bednar is a major one. After bringing stability to the ninth inning, the closer has made a strong case for another season in the Bronx.
Acquired from the Pittsburgh Pirates at the 2025 trade deadline, Bednar had to navigate early velocity concerns and criticism following blown saves before becoming a central figure in New York's bullpen.
Bednar converted 35 of 39 save opportunities in 2026, finishing with a 2.47 ERA and 76 strikeouts across 69.1 innings. He also delivered in the postseason, allowing no runs in three innings. His work helped settle a role that has often been a question mark for New York.

Ravens OC Declan Doyle reveals absurd suggestion from players to solve second-half woes appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Baltimore Ravens have been on the wrong end of back-to-back disastrous second-half collapses to the Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals. Nuggets' fatal flaw that will doom 2027 NBA championship chances appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Denver Nuggets have started the season off with just two wins in four contests, with both of those victories coming against the New Orleans Pelicans. Their latest victory, which came on Wednesday, was, at the very least, convincing, unlike their first win against the Pelicans which required them to come back from 23 down.
Injury problems are already giving the Nuggets trouble. Cam Johnson had to exit Denver's first game of the season due to an ankle injury, making life difficult for a team that's already missing sharpshooting forward Spencer Jones, whom they re-signed this past offseason.
There are already quite a few red flags that should worry Nuggets fans about their team through the early goings of the season. Perhaps the team rectifies it as the season moves forward, but some flaws may be too difficult to overcome as they seek out to compete for another NBA championship.

Anthony Rendon enters free agency as nightmare Angels contract finally ends appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Los Angeles Angels decided to move on from manager Kurt Suzuki last week after just one season in charge. Now, the Angels can finally move on from Anthony Rendon after seven disastrous years with the team.

Buccaneers' Emeka Egbuka among players included in latest injury report before Falcons game appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Emeka Egbuka is showing signs of progress in his recovery, although his status for Sunday's Week 8 clash with the Atlanta Falcons remains up in the air.
Egbuka was a limited participant in Thursday's practice as he continued to work through the NFL's concussion protocol. One encouraging sign was his return to a regular practice jersey after previously wearing a non-contact one. The development suggests he is making progress, though he still needs medical clearance before returning to game action.
The rookie has been out since sustaining a concussion and a foot injury in the Buccaneers' Week 6 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. During the fourth quarter, Steelers linebacker Patrick Queen delivered a hit that brought his shoulder into Egbuka's helmet as the receiver tried to make a play on an incomplete pass. The injuries forced him to sit out Tampa Bay's Week 7 win over the Carolina Panthers.

Timberwolves' Rudy Gobert speaks up on his reluctance to throw it down appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
After Minnesota Timberwolves coach Chris Finch called out Rudy Gobert for his finesse plays during a combined 0-for-13 stretch, the starting center questioned his finishes as well. Amid a two-game skid, the Timberwolves lost Anthony Edwards to a knee injury that will keep him out for at least two months. As Minnesota will look to find success without their All-Star forward, many anticipate Gobert to step up offensively.
Instead, he finished with one point, four rebounds, and one steal in the Timberwolves' 119-114 loss to the Golden State Warriors. In addressing Finch's recent comments about finishing loud in the paint, Gobert agreed with the notion of dunking the ball more often, per Sports Illustrated Andrew Dukowitz.
"Sometimes I tell myself, 'Why didn't I dunk that, too?' I guess it depends," Gobert said. "I guess, most importantly, is to react, to be decisive. To be strong and to be decisive. If I'm going to dunk it, go dunk it. If they foul me and call it, it is how it is. But I gotta be more decisive and more balanced, more poised."

Ex-player issues Masyn Winn demand to Cardinals appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
St. Louis Cardinals shortstop Masyn Winn features a high ceiling. Winn earned a Gold Glove in 2025. He displayed offensive potential as well, but in 2026 Winn hit just .232 with a .625 OPS. Former MLB star pitcher Lance Lynn isn't placing all of the blame on Winn for his offensive struggles, though. Lynn believes the Cardinals need to make a lineup adjustment next season.
"If you do not put Masyn Winn in the top of the lineup to do what Masyn Winn is capable of, you keep putting him in a hole," Lynn said, via Cardinal Territory. "You gotta free him up… Last year, when you put him in the three hole, you just put him in a spot to just not be successful. I don't know how else to say it. When you put him in the nine hole, it's kind of disrespectful to his talent."
It's an intriguing take. The Cardinals could certainly try putting Winn at the top of the lineup and see what happens. Perhaps it could lead to him finding more overall offensive consistency.

Valkyries bash 'unacceptable' start in WNBA Finals Game 6 loss to Dream appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
ATLANTA – Call it nerves, call it fatigue, call it championship anxiety, call it all of the above. Whatever was going on with the Golden State Valkyries in the first quarter of their 80-69 loss to the Atlanta Dream in Game 6 of the WNBA Finals, something wasn't right.
Their offense, which had had the juice and the fight the last two games to overcome the inefficient nature of how it functions, came out far too careful and tepid as the Dream blew up every on-ball screen they tried to set. Their defense, which has been the driving force of their magical run to the Finals, got torched. Atlanta rained down bucket after bucket as they shot 11-of-15 from the field and 6-of-8 from beyond the arc in the opening period, justifying the thunderous home crowd's decision to call out sick from work to watch their team shine.
Didn't matter that they eventually amped up their ball pressure and started forcing the Dream into some lazy passes. Didn't matter that they decided to get back to attacking the rim with reckless abandon in the second half, with their trips to the free-throw line helping them cut the deficit down to eight with 1:15 left in the game. Because by the time the Valkyries found the gear that makes them the Valkyries, it was too late.
