Prince William and Kate Middleton are preparing their eldest son Prince George to one day be king.
While George has his dad's guidance for certain experiences, like starting school at Eton College, his mom is playing a different role in his preparations, royal historian Marlene Koenig said.
"[Kate] is there to be the loving, supportive mom in everything George does, because he is her son first and foremost," Koenig explained.
Prince William and Kate Middleton are both fully prepared to guide their eldest son, Prince George, as he one day succeeds to the throne as king—but, as royal historian Marlene Koenig put it, the Princess of Wales has a "different role" in that preparation than her husband does.
Much like his father and uncle, Prince Harry, George has begun his first year at Eton College this September. Attending the famous all-boys boarding school is a royal tradition, and one that William has likely prepared his 13-year-old son for. Meanwhile, Kate is making sure to support George.

Despite Florida football opening the season with a strong offensive performance, the Gators missed one of their key transfer players.
Florida's eventual 66-21 rout over Florida Atlantic was played without wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr.
Singleton was sidelined for the game after a player fell on him while setting up a block for Vernell Brown III's 49-yard touchdown in the first quarter.
Singleton never left the sidelines, and remained fully dressed out for the duration of the game.
"He had a little ankle (injury)," Florida coach Jon Sumrall said. "I don't know how severe. Tried to give it a go. We'll see. I'll have more information probably on Monday, but yeah unfortunate. It happened really, really early."

Florida football came into the season opener against Florida Atlantic relatively healthy. While Saturday night's result was ideal, the Gators are now dealing with a few injury concerns to follow heading into Week 2.
Wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr. suffered an unconfirmed injury during the game, while defensive backs J'Vari Flowers and Bryce Thornton also appeared to be shaken up at different points. Thornton seemed to injure his wrist after a big hit in the first half. Their statuses moving forward remain unclear. Head coach Jon Sumrall is expected to provide additional information after further evaluation.
The Gators were also without a number of key players before kickoff. Wide receiver Davian Groce, offensive lineman Eagan Boyer, defensive lineman Stive-Bentley Keumajio-Yondju, safety Eric Parks and running back Kelvin Jimenez were not dressed for the opener, according to reports from Gainesville. Before Saturday's matchup, Jimenez was listed as out.
The extent of Singleton's injury will be the most significant storyline as the Gators turn their attention to Campbell.

Texas football had its first scoop-and-score of the season.
With just over 6 minutes left in the second quarter, Texas State running back Taji Atkins took a carry up the middle. But Rasheem Biles punched the ball out of Atkins hands and Graceson Littleton scooped up the ball to the house for a 59-yard touchdown to push the score to it 28-0 Texas.
On the next drive, the Bobcats avoided the shutout with a touchdown drive against the Longhorns to make it 28-7 with about 4 minutes left until halftime.
Arch Manning then led the Longhorns on a long drive to give UT a chance to extend its lead, but an interception in the end zone kept the deficit at 21 points.

The U.S. ETF industry is pushing back against the Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) broad review of "novel ETFs."
ETF professionals argue an overly wide definition could slow product launches and undermine one of the market's biggest advantages, even as increasingly complex funds test the boundaries of the traditional ETF structure, per a Reuters report.
The SEC opened the review in June after delaying a wave of proposed prediction-market ETFs. Its request covers ETFs that invest in innovative ***** et classes or use unconventional strategies and asks whether existing rules adequately address investor protection, market integrity, and the registration process.
More than 20 industry participants submitted comments around the Aug. 31 deadline, with the docket showing submissions from Charles Schwab, Franklin Templeton, Jane Street, Cboe Global Markets, Grayscale Investments, 21Shares, Andreessen Horowitz and Kalshi.

After spending six years in Montecito, California, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have now returned to the UK. However, a new report claims that their homecoming has made little difference to Prince William and Kate Middleton. The news comes as the brothers' bond remains deeply strained since Megxit, fractured by explosive interviews and claims in Harry's memoir, "Spare."
After years across the Atlantic, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle returned to the UK last week with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Yet a friend of the Waleses has said that the move "won't make any difference" in mending fences with Prince William and Kate Middleton.
Before making their surprise comeback, the Duke and ******* ss of Sussex were seen at King Charles's Highgrove residence in Gloucestershire back in July. Royal observers interpreted the visit as a bid to rebuild relations with the royal family. It follows backlash over their media appearances and Harry's 2023 book, "Spare."
But a confidant of Prince William and Kate Middleton told the Daily Mail, "It makes no difference if Harry and Meghan are in Oxfordshire, California or Timbuktu. William and Catherine will continue their lives of public service. They intend to lead by example."
In fact, the royal heir is heading to India in November, with reports suggesting that Princess Catherine could join him. William will head to India for the Earthshot Prize in November 2026, though organizers have not yet confirmed the exact dates. While the Princess of Wales' attendance remains unconfirmed, the trip would mark the pair's first overseas visit since the Sussexes' return to the UK.

Prince William and Kate Middleton may eventually have to engage with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle despite their strained relationship, according to royal commentator Richard Kay. The Sussexes' return to the UK has brought attention back to the family tensions. Kay claims the situation cannot stay unresolved forever.
In a Daily Mail Voices video, Richard Kay suggested that Prince William cannot continue avoiding his younger brother forever. The royal commentator believes the family will eventually need to address the estrangement, particularly if Prince Harry and Meghan Markle remain in Britain for an extended period. "At some stage they are going to have to engage, because they can't not engage forever," Kay said.
According to Kay, the first step could involve holding a private family meeting instead of staging a highly public reconciliation. "I would have thought that in the first instance there would need to be a private meeting between Harry and William and presumably Catherine and Meghan, too," Kay said.
He suggested that the meeting could help them agree on an "official line" and end uncertainty about the family's position. However, that would not mean the brothers would immediately repair their personal relationship. Instead, Kay believes they could establish a workable public approach.
Kay also warned that keeping the family separated for months could make things even harder for the Royal Family. "The public won't stand for it," he said. Kay believes William must think beyond his personal relationship with Harry. "William knows that, above all, his responsibility to the monarchy, to the institution, has to take first place, so he'll have to put whatever personal differences he has to one side."

Kate Middleton's journey in the royal family may have been more deliberate than it first appeared. Experts believe she spent years preparing for life inside the monarchy. From her university days to her long courtship with Prince William, she had plenty of time to understand the institution before officially joining it. Now, royal commentators suggest that her patient approach may have been an important part of her eventual rise to the position of Princess of Wales.
Kate Middleton never treated her royal future as something to rush into, an expert believes. Royal author Simon Vigar claims she focused on making "steady progress" while learning how the institution worked.
Vigar, author of "The Four Wives of Windsor," told Fox News Digital that someone close to Prince William described the approach as, "We're not going to rush our fences." The idea was reportedly to learn the ropes first and take on greater responsibilities over time.
That patience became important because Middleton entered the Royal Family from a very different background, Vigar explained. Unlike Princess Diana, who was an aristocrat, and Queen Camilla, who also came from an upper-class family, Middleton was middle class. Her parents built their own business and worked to give their children opportunities, including private education.
She later attended St. Andrews University, where she met William. Their relationship developed over several years before their 2011 wedding. According to Christopher Andersen, that lengthy courtship ultimately worked in Middleton's favor.

As Penn State heads into its first game of the season against the Marshall Thundering Herd, there are still things they may be figuring out on game day. After all, with over 24 transfers to implement and a whole new coaching staff, things could look a little shaky to start the season. Still, Penn State will have a game plan they believe in and new players will be ready to showcase their potential this season.
Here are five keys to the game for the Nittany Lions this weekend.
The new-look running back room for the Nittany Lions is seemingly one of the most intriguing on the entire roster. Carson Hansen, the Iowa State transfer, looks to be slotted in as the RB1, bringing a more physical play style to the backfield. However, keep an eye out for Ohio State transfer James Peoples, who has had a fantastic camp and offers a bit more of a speed element in the backfield. Still, players like Quinton Martin Jr. and Cam Wallace will look to contribute as well. Penn State fans may be missing both Nicholas Singleton and Kaytron Allen this season, but a plethora of options under Campbell will make this room sneaky strong. Don't be surprised if all four players get touches on Saturday.
As it stands, it looks as if freshman five-star Malachi Goodman will be tasked with the most key position on the offensive line: protecting Rocco Becht's blindside. While Marshall's D-line isn't the biggest of tests, this is still a step up in competition for the young O-lineman. That being said, expect Matt Campbell to give him easy reps to start. That could mean a lot of quick game elements, such as early screen passes or even play-action bootlegs so that Goodman is not right in the line of fire. For Campbell, it should be paramount that a player as important as Goodman will be this season doesn't feel overwhelmed in his first collegiate game.
This kind of sounds cliche, but in his first game as a Nittany Lion, Rocco Becht is playing with house money. While some fans will expect the QB from Iowa State who broke almost every single record with that program, we truly don't know what he'll look like come Saturday. Still, if Rocco Becht plays fast and loose, proving unafraid to challenge the Marshall defense through the air, then Penn State fans will start to believe that Becht could be the guy that can turn this team around. From what we've heard from camp, Becht has proven to be a great leader in the locker room and on the field as well. If that shows up on Saturday, the Nittany Lions might have just found a gem of a player.

A possible family conversation could be on the horizon for Prince Harry and Kate Middleton. However, the Princess of Wales is reportedly determined not to put herself against Prince William. It is speculated that Harry's return to the UK could bring him into closer contact with the family after years of separation. Now, a source claims the Duke of Sussex sees Middleton as someone who could help reopen a line of communication.
Prince Harry is allegedly hoping to reconnect with Kate Middleton as he settles into spending more time in the UK. According to a source cited by Closer Online, he sees her as someone who may be more willing to listen. With Prince William still apparently unwilling to speak with him, Harry could turn to Middleton as a possible bridge.
The timing is significant. Harry and Meghan Markle have returned to Britain with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, after six years away in California. The family is said to be establishing a longer-term presence in the country. That could make future encounters with the wider Royal Family more likely.
For years, Harry and William have largely kept their distance. Their strained relationship has continued despite the "Spare" author making efforts to improve his bond with his father, King Charles. Now, with Harry back in the UK, avoiding each other could become increasingly difficult.
That is reportedly why Harry wants to approach Middleton. A source claims he sees her as a "more reasonable" person who could help maintain a line of communication. Still, the insider acknowledges that putting her in the middle would be uncomfortable.

A source has revealed that Prince William and Kate Middleton will be keeping notably busy this autumn, balancing a demanding schedule of royal engagements.

The royal heir will be heading to India in November for the 2026 Earthshot Prize, with specific dates still to be finalized. The Prince launched the Earthshot Prize in 2020 as a global movement that finds, supports and rewards pioneering solutions to repair our planet.

Kate Middleton's rare old comments about Prince William and Prince Harry resurfaced as reunion rumors grew after the Duke's UK return. The Princess of Wales once told the royal brothers they were "amazingly close" during a 2017 Heads Together conversation. Her words gained fresh attention because the siblings remain estranged. The report framed the throwback as a reminder of their earlier bond before Harry's 2023 memoir, "Spare," was published and the subsequent years of public distance.
According to **** O!, Kate Middleton sat with Prince William and Prince Harry for Heads Together in 2017. The joint charity campaign focused on mental health. During the conversation, she referenced what the brothers had "sadly went through." She then said their strength came from childhood and "the relationship that you've got." Kate added, "You're amazingly close."
Meanwhile, William responded with a brief joke during the same exchange. He cut in with, "Most of the time!" Kate then stressed that their bond was not common. She told the royal brothers: "Some families sadly aren't as lucky as you guys have been." The report also said William reflected on his and Harry's shared past. He said they were "uniquely bonded" because of what they had been through together.
But the article contrasted those comments with the brothers' current distance. Harry also spoke about the bond in 2005. He said, "It's amazing how close we've become." The Duke added that William was the one person he could talk to "about anything."
However, **** O! noted Harry later described William in "Spare" as both his "beloved brother" and "arch-nemesis." Royal expert Katie Nicholl said the Duke of Sussex's relocation made reconciliation harder to avoid. She claimed Harry had William "over a barrel" because they were now geographically closer. Thus, for Kate, William, and Harry, the old remarks added fresh weight to reunion talk.

Olivia Rodrigo leaned into edgy glamour for her latest look, pairing a skeleton micro minidress with Stuart Weitzman pumps. The "deja vu" singer turned heads at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles, California, on September 1 for the "An Evening with Olivia Rodrigo" event. The museum's official Instagram page shared her photos from the event.
Olivia Rodrigo wore a vintage Undercover Fall/Winter 2013 Silk Skeleton Top in Orange/Black to the Grammy Museum. Styled as a micro minidress, the top featured cap sleeves and a black Peter Pan collar that rested wide across her shoulders. The garment's most eye-catching detail was the centrally printed black skeletal ribcage graphic. The goth-inspired anatomical graphic contrasted with the soft peach color of the fabric, creating a playful and edgy juxtaposition.
Styled by Chloe and Chenelle, the Grammy winner paired the lightweight dress with black sheer Wolford tights. For footwear, she opted for Stuart Weitzman Babette Patent Leather Mary Jane Pumps in black colorway. The high-shine patent finish caught the light, elevating the dark tights beneath and bringing a sleek, liquid-like **** re to her look.
The $495 shoes featured an almond-shaped toe and a slender instep strap with a metallic buckle. The 85 mm block heel elongated her frame while maintaining a retro silhouette that balanced the breezy drape of her tunic. Furthermore, its black color kept the look cohesive along her leg line.
Rodrigo wore her dark brown hair in voluminous, glossy waves parted down the side, softly framing her face. Meanwhile, her makeup was fresh and radiant. It featured a natural flush, defined lashes, and a pink lip that echoed the peach tones of her dress.

Pop superstar Olivia Rodrigo continues to showcase her passion for edgy vintage fashion. Recently, the singer attended the "An Evening with Olivia Rodrigo" event at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles. Naturally, her stylish appearance captured everyone's attention. She cleverly repurposed an archival designer top into a thigh-skimming micro minidress. Ultimately, her unique outfit seamlessly blended spooky graphic elements with classic preppy aesthetic details.
For the special museum appearance on September 1, 2026, Olivia Rodrigo selected an iconic archival piece from ***** anese brand Undercover's Fall/Winter 2013 collection. Specifically, the vintage silk top showcases a soft peachy-orange shade with short sleeves. Furthermore, a contrasting black rounded collar and dark shoulder cap trims give the top a neat, structured silhouette. However, rather than pairing the top with pants or a skirt, Rodrigo wore the piece as a teeny tiny micro minidress.
The front of the dress features a detailed black ribcage and spine print running down the middle. Consequently, this bold skeleton graphic adds a rebellious, punk-rock twist to her sweet look. Moreover, celebrity stylists Chloe and Chenelle elevated the leggy silhouette by pairing the dress with semi-sheer black Wolford tights. The dark tights created a striking contrast against the bright orange silk fabric.
In addition, Rodrigo chose shiny black patent leather Stuart Weitzman "Babette" Mary Jane pumps ($495) for her footwear. The block-heel shoes featured delicate straps across her feet, injecting a dainty vintage charm into the edgy outfit. Furthermore, she kept her jewelry very subtle so the graphic vintage dress could remain the main focus.
Her beauty team complemented the look with effortless styling. Hairstylist Mary Kendall brushed her long dark locks into soft, glossy waves that fell over her shoulders. Meanwhile, makeup artist Karissa O'Hanlon gave her glowing skin, rosy flushed cheeks, and a glossy berry-pink lip. Overall, Rodrigo perfectly demonstrated her ability to turn a vintage top into an iconic micro-dress.

BRUSSELS/BERLIN, Sept 2 (Reuters) - European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen vowed on Wednesday to increase pressure on Russia, including with new sanctions, after an attempted drone attack at Leipzig/Halle Airport in Germany that she said showed Moscow's growing "recklessness".
Airport workers last month found a drone laden with explosives and a detonator at the airport, an important civilian freight and NATO logistics hub in eastern Germany that is also a base for several giant Ukrainian Antonov An-124 cargo planes.
Germany blamed Moscow for the attack, characterising it as part of hybrid warfare meant to intimidate and cause divisions in countries that have rallied around Ukraine since Russia's 2022 invasion.
Russia denies involvement. It says it will respond to what its foreign ministry spokesperson called "anti-Russian action", and summoned Germany's top diplomat in Moscow.

Dan Hurley's historically successful run with UConn men's basketball peaked in the spring of 2024, when his Huskies rampaged through the NCAA Tournament to clinch a second consecutive championship.
On Wednesday, CBS Sports released the latest installment of the publication's "Candid Coaches" series, asking 100 anonymous coaches to name the best college basketball team of the 21st century. Fueled by this outstanding postseason run, UConn's 2023-24 team was the most popular answer, with 17% of coaches choosing the Huskies and several highlighting Hurley's role in cultivating such historic dominance.
"Insanely dominant," one coach told CBS about the Huskies. "Five NBA players in the starting lineup. Best coach in the sport on the sidelines."
That ***** le run is part of an ongoing stretch of postseason excellence for UConn, as the Huskies reached their third national championship game in four seasons this past April before falling against Michigan. The 2025-26 Michigan team, fueled by a dominant frontcourt of Yaxel Lendeborg, Morez Johnson and Aday Mara, is tied for second place at 14% with the 2000-01 Duke squad. Other top answers include 2017-18 Villanova, 2006-07 Florida and John Calipari's Kentucky squads from 2011-12 and 2014-15.
For a group of reigning champions, the 2023-24 UConn squad was hardly a runaway favorite to make another national ***** le run, as Hurley needed to replace several key contributors, including star centers Adama Sanogo and wings Andre Jackson and Jordan Hawkins. The Huskies appeared somewhat mortal early on, letting a late lead against Kansas slip away at Allen Fieldhouse to kick off December before a stunning 15-point road loss at Seton Hall three weeks later.

As a team, the Florida State Seminoles did not look as good as expected when they beat the New Mexico State Aggies in Week 0 to start the 2026 season. That was not true of the running backs, who powered the offense to a 34-17 victory with Ousmane Kromah and Samuel Singleton Jr. both having career days.
While Kromah led the team with 115 yards rushing, Singleton finished as the team's top receiver after catching four passes for 54 yards and a touchdown, to go along with 42 rushing yards and another touchdown. His performance was good enough for him to be named the ACC Receiver of the Week, which can be awarded to any player who catches a pass.
Running backs coach Kam Martin was asked about Singleton's versatility on Wednesday, and he did not hold back, comparing him to Denver Broncos running back RJ Harvey, who Martin coached while with the UCF Bulls. He also admitted that he thought Singleton was in for a big night due to the work he has put in this offseason.
"He's fun to coach," he said. "Sam's a guy that's in the building all the time. Yesterday, it was a off day, he came up, 'Coach, how can I get better? What's some things I can work on?' You just knew going into that game that Sam was going to have the performance that he was going to have.
"When I saw him catch that 53-yard catch on the screen, I kinda knew he was going to do that cause he played it through practice, and he worked so hard for all these moments. Sam's time is here, Sam's time is here. He put in the work and he's going to continue to make plays."

Another Premier League season is officially underway, and despite the usual dose of high hopes for Chelsea, the flagship football club finds itself embroiled in more uncertainty than it ever expected.
Minority stakeholders Mark Walter and Todd Boehly, who own a combined 26 percent (13 percent apiece) of Chelsea, are reportedly in talks to sell their shares to Clearlake Capital, which already controls around 61.5 percent of the franchise. To be sure, the talks between Boehly and Clearlake, specifically, are not new. The sides have discussed an ownership stake exchange in the past, albeit to no avail.
This time around, however, another is added to the equation: Walter, who recently sold the NBA's Los Angeles Lakers and also owns MLB's Los Angeles Dodgers, is under federal investigation for misreporting what's known as related-party loans among his own business ventures. Though nothing has been finalized, Walter's dilemma injects previously unheard-of urgency into the equation.
The news is another blow to Chelsea fans who have grown to distrust the current ownership regime. Their skepticism is not without merit, either. Just as sports betting enthusiasts will search "Is Betonline legit" when shopping around for a place to make wagers, they along with the EPL at large probably need to be wondering whether this Chelsea ownership group is, in fact, built to lead the club into the future.
While Walter's current legal situation raises all sorts of red flags as purchase talks continue, this is far from the first time these parties have found themselves battling murky circumstances.

USC's final road games of nonconference play will be at San Diego on December 8 and against Texas Tech in Fort Worth, Texas on December 13. The Trojans will wrap up their nonconference slate with home matchups against Jacksonville and Western Michigan on December 19 and 22, respectively.
After that, USC will get into the heart of Big Ten play. The Trojans' conference schedule will be announced at a later date.

When scientists with the National Center for Wildlife in Saudi Arabia were surveying caves in search of wildlife in 2022 and 2023, they came across something unexpected: seven naturally mummified cheetahs in five caves near the northern city of Arar. The remains were largely intact with well-preserved soft tissue and skeletons.
Now, an ******* ysis of three of the mummies' DNA has revealed something that could help reintroduce cheetahs to the Arabian Peninsula wilderness, researchers say.
Cheetahs once inhabited much of Africa and parts of Asia, but now they are found in only 9% of their historic range. It was previously believed that the Asiatic cheetah, called Acinonyx jubatus venaticus, was the only subspecies ever present in Saudi Arabia. The species is now critically endangered, with a small wild population remaining in Iran. Across the peninsula, cheetahs were deemed locally extinct in the 1970s.
But when the researchers ******* yzed three of the mummies, they found that two of the oldest specimens were genetically closer to the subspecies Acinonyx jubatus hecki, known as the Northwest African cheetah.
The findings, published in January in the journal Communications Earth & Environment, reveal that at least two subspecies of cheetah once roamed the Arabian Peninsula. The discovery could help reintroduction efforts as scientists now know which cheetah lineages once lived in the peninsula and have evidence of their success in the area.

Swindon Town have signed forward Antwoine Hackford from AFC Wimbledon on a two-year deal, brought in Stevenage's Dan Butler on loan, and handed striker Aaron Drinan a new contract.
Hackford, 22, arrives at the Robins for an undisclosed fee after scoring six goals in his only full season at Plough Lane, and becomes manager Ian Holloway's 10th signing of the summer transfer window.
He started his career at Sheffield United, enjoying loan spells at Alfreton Town, Burton Albion and Port Vale, before his permanent switch to AFC Wimbledon last summer.
Hackford helped Vale gain promotion to League One during his loan spell at the club and has now been reunited with former team-mates Mitch Clark and Connor Ripley at the County Ground.
Meanwhile, 32-year-old former Portsmouth, Peterborough United, Newport and Torquay defender Butler joins the Robins on a season-long loan.
