The Los Angeles Rams are facing growing concerns over their special teams after an 18-16 defeat to the Arizona Cardinals left Sean McVay's side with a 2-4 record.
Los Angeles lost kicker Blake Grupe to a knee injury during the game, raising the possibility that the team could need another replacement after releasing Harrison Mevis following his missed kick against the Buffalo Bills.
The latest setback has added to the pressure on a Rams team that entered the season with Super Bowl ambitions but has struggled to find consistency.
According toThe Athletic's Nate Atkins, the Rams are becoming increasingly nervous about their special teams unit as the problems continue to mount.
"The problems are just so widespread that it can be hard to know where to start," Atkins wrote. "The kicking game is chief among them, because the Rams could need a third starting kicker if Grupe's knee injury is serious, after Grupe replaced the waived Harrison Mevis last week."

The Hungarian international, 29, was a target for the Hoops during the summer as the club looked to strengthen their limited goalkeeping options, however no agreement was reached and the hoops brought in former England international Sam Johnstone from Wolves on a one year loan deal instead.
11 times capped Toth has an extension offer from the EFL Championship club, with Blackburn manager Tony Mowbray hoping to persuade him to stay on at Ewood Park.
Journalist Alan Nixon has reported that Toth, who signed for Rovers in a Hungarian side Fehervar for a fee of around £1million, is not currently willing to sign the proposed agreement, and Celtic are keeping a close eye on the situation.

Whether you know her as Victoria "Vic" Hughes on the ABC procedural drama "Station 19" or Emily Henderson on Netflix's adaptation of "Little House on the Prairie," Barrett Doss is a familiar face on small screens. The actor, who had her breakthrough on an episode of the sitcom "30 Rock" in 2013, has attended numerous industry events over the years, and at all of them her bold fashion choices have been at the center of attention. Barrett Doss showed up to a May 2019 event held by Entertainment Weekly and People in New York City in a fun periwinkle-blue number. The silhouette instantly reminds us of the dress trend of the '60s, which has since made a comeback. However, unlike classic mod dresses, Doss' featured long sleeves. The actor paired the piece with white boots and red lips, leaning into the retro aesthetic even more. Allowing her curly hair to shine, Doss drew attention to it with statement earrings, completing the fun red carpet look.

If a recent transfer update from journalist Alan Nixon on his Patreon account (as cited by The Daily Record) is believed to be true, Celtic are keeping close tabs on Balazs Toth ahead of a potential summer move. They are **** sing the goalkeeper market to provide competition for Viljami Sinisalo and have now identified Blackburn Rovers custodian, who would cost in the region of £4m, according to reports.
The 28-year-old Hungarian international progressed through Kazincbarcika, Puskás Akadémia and Fehérvár's academy ranks before returning to Puskás Akadémia in 2013. After impressing for the reserves, along with a productive loan spell at Csákvár in the second division, he was promoted to PAFC's first-team squad. Fehérvár snapped him up for €500k in the summer of 2024 but sanctioned a €1.20m transfer to Blackburn a year later.
Despite being the understudy to Aynsley Pears in his first season, Toth eventually succeeded the Englishman following the latter's ankle strain. He retained the 'number 1' spot until a knee injury ruled him out for a couple of months. Soon, the custodian regained his starting status upon returning to action, featuring 35 times last campaign across competitions.
Meanwhile, the keeper is unwilling to extend his stay at Ewood Park beyond next summer. The Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray has also admitted that they are destined to lose their 2025-26 Players' Player of the Year.

Wolves welcomed Blackburn Rovers in what was their first game in the Championship since the end of the 2017/18 season.
The recently-relegated side were the favourites going into this and took the lead in the 18th minute when Fer López split the Rovers defence before Marshall Munetsi kept his cool to finish past Balázs Tóth.
However, Blackburn fought back and levelled the score in the 27th minute after Ryoya Morishita swung in a cross from the right that Sean McLoughlin nodded home.
The visitors then completed the turnaround shortly after the restart. Again it came from the right with Dapo Afolayan this time providing the ball that Andri Gudjohnsen converted from close range.
From that point on Wolves pushed to get back into the game, bringing on Raúl Jiménez with an hour gone after three seasons away from the club.

The San Francisco 49ers list of injured players surged during Wednesday's practice when offensive lineman Nick Zakelj and defensive end Sam Okuayinonu both exited the session early with unknown ailments.
Zakelj and Okuayinonu joined DE Nick Bosa, linebacker Dre Greenlaw, defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa, OL Carver Willis, wide receiver Jacob Cowing, fullback Kyle Juszczyk, OL Brett Toth among the players who were new to the injury list before and during training camp Wednesday. That's on top of WR Mike Evans, WR Christian Kirk, WR De'Zhaun Stribling, RBs Kaelon Black and Jordan James, OL Vederian Lowe, DL Keion White and S Malik Mustapha all already sitting out practice with various injuries.
However, while the list of San Francisco's injured ballooned to 20 including the trio of players on the PUP list, ESPN's Nick Wagoner had a note that shows the injury situation might not be as bad as it looks on paper.
Wagoner posted a different sort of injury update in his daily practice recap on Twitter:
For the record, many of these guys, including Evans and Kirk did some work on the side, including some full speed running. Guerendo and Mustapha, in particular seem to be close to back. Greenlaw also seemed to be fine as he got a bit of a rest today with soreness. He watched practice from the defensive back field.

NavajoStirling believes KhamzatChimaev is a one-dimensional fighter.
After Chimaev suffered the first loss of his professional career, the hype surrounding the former Ultimate Fighting Championship champion has dampened. Stirlingrecently called him a "one-trick pony" and wants Chimaev to move upto light heavyweight so they can fight.
While Stirling acknowledges that Chimaev would bring much attentionto the 205-pound division, the unbeaten Kiwi wants to expose how"Borz" isn't a well-rounded fighter.
"I think he's a bit of a one-trick pony," Stirling told Full SendMMA. "I would love to fight him. I want to test my theory againstsomeone like that. I would love for some bigger names to come tothe division that could bring some hype."
Chimaev was undefeated and a massive betting favorite going intohis first middleweight ***** le defense against SeanStrickland at UFC 328 this past May. However, he visibly gassed out after afailed takedown attempt in the second round and completelyabandoned his wrestling thereafter.
Strickland then out-landed Chimaev on the feet en route to amassive upset win via split decision. UFC CEO DanaWhite later claimed that Chimaev had discussed a move up tolight heavyweight in the immediate aftermath of his firstprofessional loss. However, he has since been repeatedly callingfor a rematch against Strickland.
Meanwhile, Stirling has racked up five UFC wins, with two finishes, since making his Octagon debut in 2024. He is now scheduled tofight JanBlachowicz on less than three weeks' notice at UFC Belgrade on Aug. 1 in Serbia.

Before Saturday, USC went 17 years without a player being selected in the first round of the MLB Draft. The last player to do that from USC was Grant Green, who was drafted by the Athletics with the No. 13 overall pick in the 2009 MLB Draft.
Left-handed pitcher Mason Edwards was projected to end that drought for the Trojans during the 2026 MLB Draft. However, Edwards ultimately fell just short of the first-round.

PaddyPimblett recently reflected on his infamous post-fight incidentwhile competing for Cage Warriors.
After a 2016 ****** le fight in London, Pimblett suffered a memorablemishap during his post-fight interview due to a pre-fight mistake. He has now shed light on his worst weight-cutting gaffes, one ofwhich ultimately led to the viral moment.
Pimblett vomiting soon after his 2016 featherweight ****** le fightagainst JulianErosa at Cage Warriors "Unplugged 1" remains one of hisstandout memories from fighting in the England-based promotion. Hesecured a decision win, but his pre-fight meal got the better ofhim during the post-fight interview. He recalled on his YouTubechannel:
"When I spewed in the cage [after fighting Erosa], it wasn'tbecause of the refuel; it was just because of being an idiot beforeI went to the venue. Before I went to the venue, I went toStarbucks or Costco… I got a hot chocolate, and we went to Tesco, and I got a pack of Ferrero Rocher, and I ate them on the way tothe venue, after doing an 8-kilogram water cut, one of the biggestcuts I've ever done. It didn't go well with my body at the time. Itwas a bad idea, but that was me, stupid kid, didn't listen toanyone. I was only 21 at the time."
Pimblett then revisited another one of his weight-cutting mistakes, this time in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. After making weight for hisfight against RodrigoVargas at UFC London in just his second appearance in thepromotion, "The Baddy" treated himself to a full English breakfastbefore properly rehydrating.
"The worst mistake I ever made when refuelling was when I fought[Rodrigo] Vargas. I hadn't even drank any water yet. Well, I dranka little bit of water, but in the fighter hotel, I went straightdownstairs and got a full English [breakfast]," Pimblett said. "Iwas sitting there eating the full English, I'd only drank about aliter of water, and Paul Reed cameover, 'What the f*ck are you doing?!' I was just sitting therelike, 'Just having a full English.' And he was like, 'What are youdoing, you f*cking idiot?'"
The UFC lightweight now has his weight-cutting process dialled in.Ahead of his return to the Octagon at UFC329, where he'll collide with Benoit St.Denis in the co-main event, the Englishman claims his cut isgoing even better than when he fought JustinGaethje earlier this year.
"We don't miss weight. We make weight healthily. That's exactlywhat I'm going to do next week. I might end up even having lessweight to cut from when I fought Justin Gaethje, and you saw withthat one, I weighed in underweight. This time I haven't got to make155; it's 156. You never know… I might only end up cutting 10pounds, and then I'll be getting back in the cage at 185. A properlightweight."

The San Francisco 49ers are expecting big things from Mike Evans this season. He’ll be Brock Purdy’s go-to target and open things up for everyone else on offense. He should allow George Kittle to take his time returning from an Achilles injury, as well as make life easier on Ricky Pearsall. That’s expected.
Several other free agents on the roster could make meaningful contributions. But to what degree?
Will Christian Kirk stay healthy enough to add a speed dimension on offense?
Will Vederian Lowe save the day at tackle if Trent Williams misses time? Robert Jones and Bret Toth joined the roster to help the interior offensive line depth. They also have a chance to earn a starting spot at left guard.
It doesn’t feel right to list Dre Greenlaw as an underrated addition. It feels like he never left. However, a couple of members in the secondary could see time on the field if there are any injuries. Both Jack Jones and Nate Hobbs have plenty of experience.
