On August 5, Kinetik Holdings Inc. (NYSE:KNTK) reported the strongest quarterly results in company history and raised its full-year 2026 guidance. The Permian-focused midstream operator posted net income, including noncontrolling interest, of $123.1 million for the quarter ended June 30, while Adjusted EBITDA climbed to $280.8 million. Management didn't stop at celebrating the number. It used the quarter as the launchpad for a string of expansion decisions that stretch out to 2028.
The Midstream Logistics segment, Kinetik's largest, grew Adjusted EBITDA 35% year over year to $204.8 million in the second quarter, even though processed natural gas volumes held flat at 1.74 Bcf/d. That flat number actually undersells the quarter. It came despite roughly 250 million cubic feet per day of gas that had been shut in because of weak Waha-area pricing, with stronger natural gas liquid recoveries, condensate yields, and favorable commodity spreads carrying the segment instead.
Management is betting the growth continues well past 2026. In May, Kinetik reached a final investment decision on Kings Landing II, a roughly $260 million project that will lift sour gas processing capacity across the company's Delaware North complex above 700 MMcf/d and push total system capacity to 2.7 Bcf/d when it comes online in mid-2028, earlier than previously communicated. The ECCC Pipeline, which links the system's northern and southern halves between Eddy and Culberson Counties, is now in service, and right-of-way work has already begun on a follow-on expansion for 2027.
Kinetik also locked in new firm Gulf Coast access for residue gas starting in 2027 and signed fresh natural gas liquids transport agreements, both aimed at getting better prices for the gas it moves. On the back of that momentum, Kinetik raised its full-year 2026 Adjusted EBITDA guidance to a range of $1.04 billion to $1.1 billion, a 7% ***** p from the guidance it issued in February.
Not every part of the business is moving in the same direction. The Pipeline Transportation segment posted Adjusted EBITDA of $83.0 million in the quarter, down 14% year over year, a decline the company attributes to last year's divestiture of its equity stake in EPIC Crude Holdings. That sale removed a source of cash flow the rest of the business now has to make up for. Kinetik also expects gas curtailments to keep running at an average of 25 million cubic feet per day through the second half of 2026, on top of the Waha-driven shut-ins that already weighed on the quarter. Its own pricing ***** umptions underline the regional problem: the company is now modeling Waha Hub natural gas at negative $0.26 per MMBtu for the full year, meaning gas in parts of the Permian is priced so low that moving it out of the basin is the whole game.

Thanks to the Week 2 scheduling of overmatched Rice, a 44.5-point underdog, Jarrard followed Noah Grubbs into Saturday's runaway win. He entered the game with Notre Dame leading 52-0 with 6:00 remaining in the 4th quarter.

By the end of the third inning, Friday's game against the Padres didn't seem to promise much of a contest. The tally: 7-1 in favor of the visiting San Diegans after a barrage of extra basehits and two-out knocks. A
nthony Molina, who looked somewhat sharp in the 1st with two strikeouts with his four-seam, ran out of ideas in the 2nd and 3rd. He pressed hard on that fastball and the Padres bats welcomed it. Jackson Merrill bounced an outside fastball over the wall for a ground-rule double to start the 2nd. Molina retired the next two hitters he faced but couldn't find a way out of the frame cleanly. Dustin Harris deflected another elevated fastball to score Merrill. Freddy Fermin punched another 340 feet, easily scoring Harris from first.
Molina tried to adapt, shifting off his primary weapon his second time through the San Diego order, but nothing worked. Jake Cronenworth set the tone in the 3rd with a feisty 8-pitch scuffle that ended with a 107 MPH single off a change-up. Luis Campusano plated him by punishing a hanging slider. If you think Army is going to run over, around and through the South Florida defense the way the Black Knights did against Bryant in week one, think again.
There were a lot of positives to draw from as Army rolled up a school-record 648 yards of total offense and 569 rushing yards on the way to a 59-3 victory over Bryant. With a rout in progress, Army went deep into its bench and utilized 16 different ball carries, including three quarterbacks.
South Florida is not Bryant. The Bulls feature a defensive front that averages 6-foot-3, 293 pounds per man (Major Dillard is 330 pounds at nose, Asani Redwood is 300 at tackle and Michael Williams is 250 at end), compared to the Bryant squad that averaged 30 pounds less. Jump to the linebackers, and USF features a group that averages 6-3, 233 pounds, more than a dozen pounds heavier than the similar Bryant unit. You can also expect South Florida's defenders will be quicker to close off the edges, perhaps cutting off Army's success on the perimeter.
The Bulls held Florida International to 80 yards on 25 carries in a 19-9 win on the evening of Sept 5. FIU did roll up 301 yards of passing, on 62% of completed throws, but run-dominant Army has not been a passing threat for many years.

Lake Travis' matchup against Cibolo Steele ended in an abrupt 28-28 tie Friday when inclement weather swept through the area. Lightning was spotted within 10 miles of Lehnhoff Stadium with 4 minutes and 43 seconds left in the third quarter, leading to the initial weather delay.
After approximately 30 minutes, officials ruled the game a tie; the weather's severity had increased, and parts of the stadium lost power.

It really just feels like each series the Atlanta Braves have been in lately has been like them leaving a snake pit for a lion's den only to realize that they've stepped into a piranha's pond and escaped that just to find out that the dry land was quicksand. "I don't know how much more battle-tested we need to be," quipped Walt Weiss when he was asked by the media during Tuesday's pregame press conference about the tough schedule that the Braves have been dealing with as of late — and still have to navigate going forward.
Indeed, one of the takeaways from this patch is that the Braves will have faced some of the toughest teams that baseball currently has to offer once they eventually reach the Postseason and they should be more-than-ready to handle whatever's in front of them. With that being said, the Braves had to deal with another serious test in the form of the Tampa Bay Rays and once the smoke cleared, it was less about acing the test and more like simply doing enough to pass the test. Did Atlanta manage that? Let's get into it.
This one was competitive for two innings, as the Braves matched Junior Caminero's two-out dinger off of AJ Smith-Shawver in the first inning with a run of their own in the bottom half of that frame. The deadlock didn't last long at all, as the Rays made the third inning a long one for Smith-Shawver. AJSS was one out away from potentially putting two outs on the board against the Rays in that inning. Instead, Liam Hicks sent one flying into the Georgia night sky for a two-run shot. Smith-Shawver was one out away from keeping it at 3-1 before Victor Mesa Jr. hit a bouncer that eluded the glove of Ozzie Albies and dribbled into the infield for an RBI single that made it 4-1.
AJ Smith-Shawver was only able to make it through 3.1 innings with those four runs allowed, but credit is due to Brent Suter for going 3.2 innings while only giving up a single run while he was out there. Elieser Hernández wasn't as fortunate, as he surrendered two runs across his two innings of work and then got the DFA treatment once the next morning rolled around. It really felt like the Rays were either ****** ing and dunking or hitting moonshots, there was no in-between in this one.
Meanwhile, a nasty trend for the Braves was emerging while they were on the mound. It's not particularly shocking that Freddy Peralta ended up going six innings with just one run allowed since he'd done pretty well in two previous starts against Atlanta with the Mets. It wasn't shocking either to see the Rays bullpen clamp down on the Braves they did on Tuesday, either. What was shocking is that the Braves came out of this game with 11 batted ****** that were at least 95-mph that ended up turning into outs. Folks, that's tough!

Gea had to go through qualifying as his ranking was not high enough to automatically qualify for the main draw at the time entry lists were published. He lost to Nishesh Basavareddy in the final round of qualifying but was granted a reprieve when former runner-up Casper Ruud withdrew with injury before the tournament began, taking the Norwegian's place.

It's time for my annual Vikings season forecast. And like my forecasts for the rest of the NFC North teams, I will be looking at roster/coaching changes this offseason, injuries and luck factors from last season, and the change in strength of schedule from last season to this season to guide my forecast.
One thing you never find attached to any pundit's predictions is their track record, except this one. Predicting outcomes of football games and seasons is far from an exact science, but there are some key factors that can and do impact a team's season, some of which are not immediately obvious. Nevertheless, there are so many interrelated variables involved that perfection is impossible. My own track record is far from perfect, but since I started using my current formula I've at least been closer than the over/under total two of the last three seasons- 2023 being way off due to Kirk Cousins going down mid-season. In any case, this will be my tenth prediction over the past eleven seasons, having abandoned any prediction in 2016 after Teddy Bridgewater went down just prior to the start of the season. The Mets are promoting pitching prospect Gary Gill Hill from Double-A Binghamton to Triple-A Syracuse, the team announced on Sunday.
Gill Hill joined the Mets organization as part of the trade that sent Freddy Peralta to the Tampa Bay Rays at this year's trade deadline and had pitched well with the Rumble Ponies. In five starts, the right-hander went 2-0 with a 3.76 ERA (1.22 WHIP) and struck out 28 batters over 26.1 innings.
Overall, the 21-year-old has a 4.34 ERA in 25 starts between High-A, where he began the season, and Double-A.
New York's No. 19 overall prospect, according to SNY, Gill Hill's last start in Binghamton came on Sept. 1, which puts him on schedule to make his debut for Syracuse soon.

New Delhi: As the Indian team awaits Jasprit **** rah's fitness reports ahead of the T20I series against Afghanistan next week and the subsequent Asian Games, the national selectors have identified Prince Yadav as a probable backup.
TOI understands that **** rah, Nitish **** ar Reddy, Washington Sundar and Harshit Rana are due to undergo match simulation tests over the course of this week before the Indian team **** embles in Delhi on Sept 10.
"The BCCI medical team at the Centre of Excellence (CoE) had shared a report with selectors last week, where it was mentioned that these four players were clinically fit but had to be **** sed in practice matches. The CoE has lined up the matches from Sept 4-9. The CoE is confident that the players should be ready for the Afghanistan series," a BCCI source said.
Prince made his international debut in the ODI series against Afghanistan at home in June. He too suffered a hamstring injury in the second T20I in Zimbabwe on July 25.
It is learnt that he has been declared fit by the CoE and is available for selection. Prince has been doing well in T20Is since this year's IPL and the selectors see him as a serious prospect going forward.
The selectors and the team management want **** rah to get some game time in a first-class match before the Test series in New Zealand. **** rah hasn't played a red-ball match since the second Test against South Africa in Guwahati last November. He has only played T20 cricket before injuring his knee after two ODIs in England in July.

Former India batter and Director of Cricket at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence, VVS Laxman, is set to travel with the Indian men's team to ******* an and will take charge as head coach in the absence of Gautam Gambhir for the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya later this month.

While recent defeats in Ireland, England and Sri Lanka will be ***** sed, board officials are understood to be more concerned about the lack of a clearly defined ODI roadmap at a time when preparations for the 2027 World Cup should be taking shape.
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, president Mithun Manhas, head coach Gautam Gambhir, chief selector Ajit Agarkar and Centre of Excellence chief VVS Laxman will attend the meeting, with ODI and Test captain Shubman Gill and T20I skipper Shreyas Iyer also expected to be present.
At the centre of the discussions lies the most sensitive issue facing Indian cricket: Rohit's future. Though there is immense respect for the veteran opener's stature and achievements, selectors and members of the team management are increasingly aware of the need to prepare for a post-Rohit era.
According to sources, one option under consideration is to evaluate Rohit's role on a series-by-series basis rather than committing to a long-term plan through the entire World Cup cycle.
"It's very tough on a young captain like Shubman Gill when there is no clear direction. The dressing-room environment in the ODI team hasn't been the best, especially when it comes to dealing with stalwarts," a BCCI source said.
The uncertainty around Rohit reflects a broader concern. Of India's three national teams, the ODI side is regarded as the least settled. Injuries and workload management have prevented selectors from identifying a stable core, leaving several key positions unresolved.
The fast-bowling allrounder's role remains a particular headache. Hardik Pandya continues on a managed workload programme after recurring fitness issues, while Nitish ***** ar Reddy is yet to receive full clearance following rehabilitation.
"Hardik, at the moment, has been cleared to bowl six overs in a day. Reddy is still to clear his fitness tests. The ODI team doesn't have even half of the core ODI team ready. It has to be a joint effort between the CoE and the team management to zero in on players and formulate a roadmap to get them all on the park as soon as possible," the source said.
The review was initially planned after the Ireland and England tours but was postponed because of the subsequent Sri Lanka ***** ignment. It will now cover India's performances across multiple tours, including Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka.

The Oklahoma Sooners released their first official depth chart for the start of the 2026 college football season. The Sooners will open the season Friday at 7 p.m. against the UTEP Miners, and now we can see what the starting lineup will look like.
The Sooners entered training camp with several position battles underway, and some of those will continue into the season. But it looks like the Sooners have figured out arguably the most important one, the offensive line.
Though the projected starter at center, Jake Maikkula, won't be available for the start of the season, it looks like Oklahoma's found their guy, at least for this week. Ryan Fodje, a former four-star and top 10 offensive tackle in the 2025 recruiting class, will get the start against UTEP.
Fodje started six games for the Sooners as a true freshman, helping Oklahoma at both guard and center last season. Coming into training camp, he looked to be Oklahoma's starting right guard, but flipped to left tackle to fill in for Michael Fasusi, who was limited with an injury. New Delhi: India's team management and selectors are working on backups for the middle order ahead of the ODI World Cup next year. TOI has learnt that Tilak Varma's name has come up as a potential backup option for Shreyas Iyer in the top six of the batting lineup.
Tilak, being a left-handed batter, is seen as someone who can break the monotony of right-handers in the batting lineup. Tilak has been asked to work on his bowling since it is believed that his off-breaks have a lot of potential. The team management, in fact, has flagged the dearth of bowling options in the top order, citing it as a reason for extra pressure on the lower order and the bowlers.

"Gaikwad was picked as backup opener since Gill was injured. The team management feels Tilak could have been tried in that place. That's why they don't want to rush Devdutt Padikkal in the ODI setup because he found his calling in white-ball cricket while opening the batting," the source said.
The team for the West Indies series, however, will be an anomaly since Iyer, Tilak, Ishan and Axar will not be available. The selectors are more focused on picking another wicketkeeper for the series.
The selection committee is due to meet by September 3 to pick the team for the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan in Delhi from September 13.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Josh Dobbs made his case Saturday to be Detroit's top backup quarterback by throwing two touchdown passes and leading the Lions on another TD drive to help the Lions beat the Indianapolis Colts 25-16.
The competition between Dobbs, a veteran who signed during training camp, and rookie Luke Altmyer became one of the Lions' key camp battles after Teddy Bridgewater retired earlier this month.
Incumbent starter Jared Goff did not throw a pass in Detroit's three preseason games, allowing Dobbs and Altmyer to take center stage. And they essentially played to a draw through two games.
But in the preseason finale, Dobbs may have gotten the upper hand.

The San Francisco 49ers' preseason finale against the Las Vegas Raiders ended with the visitors walking away with an 18-12 victory at Allegiant Stadium in Nevada on Aug. 27.
The Niners took a 12-9 lead with 9:09 remaining in the game after a 59-yard field goal from Eddy Piñeiro, who went 6-for-6 on field goals (24 yards, 25, 48, 59, 51, 54) in the final preseason game for San Francisco.
The Raiders answered on the next possession. Matt Gay hit a 48-yard field goal, tying the game 12-12 with 7:38 left.
The 49ers responded, going 50 yards in 12 plays and capping the possession with a 51-yard field goal to give San Francisco the lead with 1:51 remaining. The 49ers' defense stopped the Raiders and gave the ball back to their offense, which was able to extend the lead on a Pineiro 54-yard field goal.
No touchdowns were scored in the game, a credit to both defenses.

One bonus that comes with a Week 0 conference game is it means we get an official injury report for NC State much earlier than we would normally. And that initial report indicates that the Pack made it out of camp pretty healthy—no key players are listed. Virginia's injury list is much longer, though the Cavs aren't in bad shape overall, either.

On the UVA side, receiver Rico Flores was listed as a starter earlier this week on the team's depth chart. Flores had a rather modest 2025 season at UCLA (26 catches for 274 yards), so he probably wasn't going to be a key to the Cavs' gameplan anyway. The status of star linebacker Kam Robinson, who tore an ACL last November, is what you should be watching for on Saturday. If he is well enough to play, then he can be a difference-maker for UVA.

In my mind, I had this game in the loss column even before first pitch.
The Rays offense looked half asleep yesterday against a lesser pitcher, and today they would be facing Troy Melton, he of the 1.86 ERA. Those of you with good memories will recall that Melton had pitched a gem against the Rays back in June, going eight innings and scattering a few hits. He's a pitcher, Brian Anderson reminded us, who is good across the game but actually gets better second and third time through the line up, so it's not like you can just wait until he tires out to get your offense going.
And for the Rays, Freddy Peralta had looked a little better in recent starts but you really had to squint to see the effective pitcher he'd been prior to this year.
So just based on the pitching matchup, this game had the worst win chances for the Rays of the series.
Of course, then, they won. Because you never know with baseball.

Despite another quality start from Melton, the Tigers lost, 3-0, to the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday, Aug. 26, at Comerica Park in Detroit. The loss gave the Rays the series win and dropped the Tigers to 62-71.
It was Melton's ninth quality start of the season, as the righty allowed three runs over seven innings but left with the loss, his third of the year. Melton's efficient outing didn't help the Tigers match Tampa Bay starter Freddy Peralta, who threw six scoreless innings in his best start since the Rays acquired him at the trade deadline from the New York Mets.
The Rays scored two runs in the second inning, which turned out to be all the offense they needed to secure the win. Meanwhile, the Tigers recorded just two total hits and didn't bring a single runner into scoring position.
And the challenge only gets greater for the Tigers. After a day off on Thursday, Aug. 27, Detroit hosts the back-to-back World Series-winning Los Angeles Dodgers in a three-game set, with a familiar friend taking the hill on Friday, Aug. 28, for the defending champions.
