Karina of aespa has joined Converse as a new face of the brand with her first campaign for the iconic footwear and lifestyle label arriving today.
The K-pop singer, rapper and dancer makes her brand debut with two shoes drawn from opposite ends of a shared lineage: the Chuck 70 X, a refined update of the most recognizable silhouette in the company's catalog, as well as the Run Star Crush, a platform-heavy variation of the classic. Converse frames the pairing as fusing "heritage with experimentation," with Karina cast as an artist who comfortably embraces both.
"Both on stage and off, I love breaking the mold and exploring my individuality through style and Converse is a natural canvas for that," Karina said in a media statement. "I'm excited to join the Converse family and inspire others to celebrate their creativity and express themselves boldly."

Fox, the American broadcaster that has held the English-language rights for six editions of the men's and women's tournaments, will be off duty for the first time since 2014. The shift from one of the primary broadcasters in the United States to streaming giant Netflix is a seismic one that has inspired plenty of nerves among women's soccer fans. It also opens up the doors to reimagining the coverage of the sport's biggest moment.
No financials were disclosed when the deal was announced in 2024, though last week Bloomberg News reported that Netflix paid around $200 million for the two editions of the tournament. FIFA's decision to split up the men's and women's tournaments' media rights allowed the women's tournament to establish and develop its own commercial value. Fox shelled out $485 million for the 2026 men's World Cup alone. That price is expected to rise considerably for the next men's tournament. (FCC Chairman Brendan Carr has gone on record saying that the men's tournaments should, in part, remain free to air.)
Netflix has been making some bets of its own on live sports, picking and choosing where to acquire more events, including the MLB Home Run Derby, boxing and NFL holiday games. Netflix hit a high mark for the most-streamed NFL game thanks in part to Beyoncé's halftime show during a game between the Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans on Christmas Day 2024, with the stream peaking at 27 million during halftime.
Netflix co-CEO Greg Peters noted on an earnings call that live events have been key to driving sign-ups. Live programming has driven six out of the top 10 new subscriber sign-up days over the past five years.

Saquon Barkley saw a clip of Barry Sanders on NFL Films when he was a kid that left a lasting impression.
It wasn't Sanders juking half the defense on one of his dynamic touchdown runs. Instead, the Hall of Fame running back who inspired a generation of running backs with his sensational, elusive, shifty style was walking up and down the sideline handing out refreshments to his teammates.
"They were talking about how great of a player he was but they had a clip of him holding Gatorade cups and he's walking down," Barkley said on the AP's "On Football" podcast. "He is going to his teammates and just the way that he carried himself. So I would say I have to give my flowers to him there."
Barkley joined Sanders as one of nine players to rush for 2,000 yards in a season in 2024 when he was the AP NFL Offensive Player of the Year and helped the Philadelphia Eagles win the Super Bowl.
Barkley demonstrated he's a team-first player by sitting out the final regular-season game when he needed 101 yards to break Eric **** erson's record. Earlier in the season, he told coach Nick Sirianni to let other backs get some carries after he had already rushed for 176 yards against his former Giants teammates and needed 14 more in the fourth quarter to set a new career-high.

JOHANNESBURG (AP) — Oprah Winfrey says she will close the school for underprivileged girls she set up in South Africa two decades ago at the end of next year.
Winfrey opened the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in 2007 after being inspired by conversations with former South African President Nelson Mandela about the transformative power of educating girls. He was among the guests at the school's opening ceremony.
Winfrey's charitable foundation ran and funded the school, but it was always part of the agreement that the academy campus near Johannesburg be ultimately handed over to the provincial education department, the academy said.
"The dream was never simply to build a school," Winfrey said in a statement issued by the academy on Wednesday. "It was to invest in the limitless potential of young women. That mission doesn't end with one campus. It continues in every girl whose future can be transformed through education."
The academy said Winfrey's commitment to educating South African girls would continue through an expanded national scholarship program supporting academically talented girls at leading schools across the country.

Could the Royals have had a much better final week of pre-season? It's hard to think so. Following victories against Woking last Saturday (0-2), Newport County on Tuesday (0-4) and Crawley Town on Friday (0-1), Reading made it four clean-sheet wins in four on Saturday afternoon by seeing off Charlton Athletic 0-3 at The Valley.
Lewis Wing was the star man, beginning and ending the scoring with a pair of excellent strikes. Perhaps Boyd Beacroft's halfway-line lob over the 'keeper at Crawley inspired Wing to go one better?
Either way, this was Wing at his very best. He gave the Royals the lead just before half-time when he slammed in a free-kick, later making absolutely certain of the result by curling the ball beautifully into the far top corner after getting a shot corner back from David Hicks.
Reece Evans will be having words about which goal was the highlight of the afternoon though. He opened his account for the first team to make it 2-0 in the second half, heading the ball powerfully past the 'keeper at the end of an incisive, fluent counter-attack. Hicks played a neat pass down the right and into the area for Kyreece Lisbie, who checked back onto his left foot and crossed cutely for Evans.
Even outside those goals though – and stop me if you've read this before about Reading's 2026 pre-season friendlies – the Royals looked confident and well structured. Inventive, energetic and dynamic, this was a display that simply wouldn't have happened last season.

An elegant evening celebrating Inter's international presence marked the Club's stay in Hong Kong during the opening leg of the Internazionale Summer Tour. Within one of Asia's most dynamic cities, the Club brought together representatives from local institutions, partners, media and the cultural community for an exclusive event inspired by the values that have defined Inter since its foundation.
Hosted at Cardinal Point, the spectacular Sky Terrace on the 45th floor of the Landmark skyscraper, the event treated guests to breathtaking views of Hong Kong's skyline and Victoria Harbour. It provided the perfect setting to celebrate Inter's international presence, surrounded by the colours that have represented the Club since 1908: "Black as the night, blue as the sky."
At the heart of the evening was an opportunity to enjoy a traditional aperitivo with the local community, designed to bring together people from different cultures and backgrounds. Guests experienced an authentic Milanese aperitivo – one of the city's most iconic social traditions – while embracing the spirit of openness, exchange and dialogue that has always been central to Inter's identity as Internazionale.

The evening opened with a special welcome from Nerazzurri legend Christian Vieri, who took to the stage alongside host Sze Nga and Rivista Undici journalist Jay Ganglani, whose publication partnered with the event. FC Barcelona have unveiled their away kit for the 2026/27 season, developed together with Nike and the Kobe brand. The new shirt represents the second chapter of a growing collaboration that highlights a shared competitive mindset.
The shirt and the entire collection combine a black base with a gradient fading into purple at the bottom, along with gold details and graphic elements linked to Kobe Stealth, the identity of the Kobe Bryant brand.
Among the standout details are a print inspired by snakeskin texture, the FC Barcelona crest with an iridescent finish, the Kobe logo on the chest, and a Kobe Bryant quote hidden inside the collar that captures the 'Mamba Mentality': "Leave the game better than you found it".
The launch campaign features players such as Pedri, Gavi, Frenkie De Jong, Alejandro Balde, Ewa Pajor and Patri Guijarro, among others.
