You covered the Warriors' golden era for years. What do you make of Stephen Curry's current situation and future? Do you expect him to re-sign with the Warriors? Marcus Thompson: Steph is re-signing. Steph isn't going anywhere. He never was. It's really important to him. He said this for years. He wants to play for the same team his whole career. And I think it would take something dramatic to get him off that. And at 38, it's tough. Like, where's he going? I mean, that's a big one. Where does Steph Curry feel comfortable going and feel like it's his? I think he's a very honor-driven player and I do think he takes honor in, hey, he'd rather go down not winning with his guys than going somewhere else and winning. People have to remember he had a front-row seat to what happened to KD. You go to another team, win a championship with somebody else, people will turn that against you. Steph hears everything. He listens and he's very protective of his reputation that way. So I think the Warriors would have to say, 'Hey, we don't want to do this anymore.' They would have to be like, 'We don't want to win; we just want to get rid of all this money, go cheap, and let's go the cheap route.' And that's just not who the Warriors are. It just isn't.

Being the Buckeye beat's black sheep blog, we here at Land-Grant Holy Land like to pat ourselves on the back. So, throughout the season, members of our staff will be making predictions about that day's game. They will go on the record with what they think the final score will be, who the game's MVP will be, and what the major storyline will be coming out of the day.
Tomorrow, the No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes will actually get to play a marquee primetime game as they travel to Austin to take on the No. 4 Texas Longhorns. The two teams will kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET in a game airing on ABC. The matchup is easily the biggest game of the non-conference slate this season, and could potentially prove to be the most consequential matchup of the regular season.
It will be the third time that the Bucks and Horns have played in as many seasons, with OSU winning in the College Football Playoff in 2024 and then in the subsequent season's opener. There is a ton on the line for both teams, as each wants to stake its claim to the pole position in the race for the national **** le.
Texas, playing at home, is currently a 1.5-point favorite, according to FanDuel. The book projects the total points line at 49.5. If you think you are better at prognosticating than our experts, maybe go and put your money where your mouth is.
Check out what our staff members think and then let us know your thoughts on the game in the comments below. As we move forward with the season, you will be able to keep up with just how well our prognosticators do on a weekly basis HERE.

The Baltimore Ravens are preparing for an Indianapolis Colts roster that underwent meaningful changes on both sides of the ball. Indianapolis retained Daniel Jones as its starting quarterback and added veteran wide receiver Keenan Allen to a passing game featuring Alec Pierce, Josh Downs, and Tyler Warren. Allen gives Jones an experienced route runner who can create separation on third down and in the red zone. The Colts also reshaped portions of their offensive line. Tanor Bortolini is listed as the starting center, with Matt Goncalves at right guard and Jalen Travis at right tackle. Quenton Nelson and Bernhard Raimann provide continuity on the left side, but Baltimore can test the newer combinations with its rebuilt defensive front.
Indianapolis made its most significant defensive investment in the secondary. Sauce Gardner joins Charvarius Ward at cornerback, giving the Colts two accomplished players capable of challenging Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, and Baltimore's other receivers. Cam Bynum and rookie A.J. Haulcy are listed as the starting safeties.
Arden Key was added to a defensive line that already included DeForest Buckner, Grover Stewart and Laiatu Latu. That group should present an immediate test for a Ravens offensive line breaking in new starters at center and right guard.
The Colts' roster is deeper and more experienced in several critical areas. Baltimore still has advantages with Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry, but Indianapolis possesses enough talent to make Jesse Minter's debut uncomfortable if the Ravens fail to establish control early.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — The University of Southern Indiana women's volleyball managed to steal one set away in their 3-1 loss against the 21st ranked Indiana Hoosiers Monday afternoon.
Screaming Eagles head coach Jeffrey Aucoin said he hopes his team can build upon the winning set and take it with them through the rest of the season.
"We were a little bit more aggressive," he said. "You know we were just missing in the first set I think set two things started to go our way. We're we're getting back into our rhythm and we're just trying to build momentum. It's easy in these types of matches to put pressure on being perfect and dominating and want to prove everybody something, but, it's really important that you just put pressure on creating opportunities. And I think that's what we did in that second set and we took advantage of those opportunities to finish out the set."
Next, Southern Indiana will head to Columbus, Ohio to compete in the Sports Import Classic starting with Youngstown State on Friday, September 11th.

Manchester United fell short of securing all three points on Merseyside on Sunday. Everton pulled out two screamers in the final minutes to equalize twice against Michael Carrick's Reds in what could easily have been a second straight win. Instead, it's a third match in a row conceding two goals and more to ponder going forward about the defensive approach.
The Reds looked the better side for much of the contest. A first half of positive wing play did not produce many chances despite the exciting options up front. The best looks at goal came on a try for the spectacular by Bruno Fernandes and a ball across the box by Marcus Rashford.
Matheus Cunha was the one who got on the end of the ball from Rashford, but he sent the chance well over the target with his shot form the edge of the box.
United got on the scoresheet right after the restart though. After emerging from the dressing room at 0-0, Bryan Mbeumo got an opportunity to cut inside and fire past Jordan Pickford in the 46th minute. It was a low effort that beat the England No. 1 to his right side.
It appeared that the goal could spark a second-half flurry, but Everton settled in and began a long push for an equalizer. Senne Lammens was called to action a handful of times without the Blues finding a clear look at goal, and United's only real threat to double the lead came from another bit of Rashford magic. He skipped through the defense and somehow maintained the balance and poise to heel the ball to Cunha centrally, but James Tarkowski got a foot through the Brazilian's legs to poke the ball away before he could fire.

Barcelona made an enquiry about Lautaro Martinez during the summer, but Inter Milan were clear about their stance on their captain.
Inter president Giuseppe Marotta has now confirmed that the Catalan club did make contact over the Argentine striker, although the response from both the Italian side and the player was decisive.

Speaking to DAZN Italia ahead of Inter's meeting with Napoli at San Siro, Marotta addressed Barcelona's interest in Martinez and made it clear that the forward remains central to the club's plans.
"The news about Barcelona's enquiry regarding Lautaro is true, but the response was decisive from us and from the player to continue together."

What had initially promised to be a busy final couple of days for Liverpool during the summer transfer window ultimately fizzled out into nothing. The Reds managed to confirm a deal for Bradley Barcola after weeks of negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain.
That deal always felt like it was a matter of when and not if though.
The expectation was that there would be more business done. Andoni Iraola confirmed as much in the build-up to the season opener against Newcastle United.
"We will definitely sign some players. Some deals you have to wait until the end. But the end is the important picture, the one we will have on September 1. Because it is true that we are still quite thin."
The reinforcements, however, did not arrive and the former Bournemouth boss now has to get the best out of an incomplete and unbalanced squad. It is an unenviable situation to be in. But it is one Iraola is going to have to manage, at least until January anyway.

The Washington Commanders open the 2026 NFL season in 10 days. Washington goes on the road for the first two games against NFC East foes Philadelphia and Dallas. It's a rough stretch to open the season for the Commanders, and being as close to 100% healthy is critical.
We know Washington will be without star left tackle Laremy Tunsil (torn triceps) and defensive tackle Johnny Newton (torn pec). The Commanders have the depth to withstand Newton's loss, but you can't replace someone of Tunsil's caliber. He's a Hall-of-Fame talent and remains one of the NFL's best at his position.
The good news for Washington is it has Brandon Coleman. While Tunsil's injury takes Coleman away from the left guard position, the third-year lineman has experience playing left tackle. He was the Commanders' left tackle during their 12-5 2024 season. He also had three starts in Philadelphia: two in his rookie year and one last season.
How healthy are the Commanders everywhere else? Over the past few days, they've gotten much healthier. Several key players have returned to practice, including Daron Payne, Marcus Mariota, Jacory Croskey-Merritt, K'Lavon Chaisson and others. Croskey-Merritt and Chaisson returned in each of the past two days.
Quinn gave an update on some of those players before the team broke for a long weekend.

Golf legend Tiger Woods was arrested in March for yet another vehicular accident. Woods agreed to a Breathalyzer test that showed no signs of alcohol, but he refused a urine test and showed signs of impairment during the ordeal.
Officers found two painkiller pills in his pocket, and he told deputies he had taken "a few" prescription medications earlier that day. Later, Woods pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence and refusal to submit to testing.
Recently, Woods announced he planned to change his not guilty plea, according to court documents filed Tuesday. Woods was scheduled to appear in court on September 8th but is now expected on Wednesday morning for a plea conference.
The golf legend has been involved in a few other crashes over the years, all of which have stunted his illustrious career. In 2021, he survived a crash in Los Angeles so severe that doctors considered amputating his leg. Woods was not charged with any crimes as authorities determined the crash was caused by excessive speed and not impairment. On the other hand, in 2009, Woods crashed into a fire hydrant and a tree outside of his residence around 2:00 a.m. Police suspected Woods was under the influence or impaired by medication, but no actual charges followed.
Woods has had to bow out of golf due to several back surgeries and lower-body injuries that have affected his mobility. As a result, Woods has battled with prescribed substance dependency. As of June, he formally stepped away from the game and traveled outside of the United States to seek treatment at an inpatient treatment facility.

Veteran linebacker Tyrel Dodson has found a new home in Carolina.
The Panthers announced that they have signed Dodson to their practice squad. He was released by the Dolphins over the weekend.
Dodson joined the Dolphins in a 2024 trade with the Seahawks and started 16 games for them last season. He entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the Bills in 2020 and Panthers General Manager Dan Morgan was in the Buffalo front office when Dodson joined the team.
Dodson has 379 tackles, 11.5 sacks, four interceptions, three forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries over his entire career.
The Panthers also signed defensive tackle Anthony Goodlow to the practice squad on Tuesday.

Dean Connors isn't going anywhere. The Los Angeles Rams waived the undrafted rookie running back on Sunday, but after clearing waivers the next day, he's returning to Woodland Hills.
According to Mike Garafolo, the Rams are signing Connors to their practice squad. He's their first reported practice squad signing of the day, filling one of the 16 spots that are available.
Connors, like every other player cut by the Rams on Sunday, cleared waivers on Monday. He was a popular player among fans after catching three touchdown passes in the preseason, including two in the opener against the Chiefs.
He forced seven missed tackles as a runner and three more as a receiver this preseason, per PFF, so he showed off his elusiveness in the open field.
The Rams opted to go with just three running backs on their initial 53-man roster, cutting Connors after also trading Jarquez Hunter away.

It is roster cut down day in the National Football League and teams needed to get their rosters down to 53 players on Sunday. One former Spartan got the confirmation that he has made the Baltimore Ravens roster.
Ryan Eckley will be the lone punter for the Ravens this season. After dominating as a punter at Michigan State from 2022-2025, he was drafted in the sixth round by the Ravens in the 2026 NFL Draft. While getting drafted made his odds of getting a roster spot go up, he still needed to earn the spot in camp, and he did just that for Baltimore.
Eckley will come into his rookie season 2026 and look to take over from where he ended his Michigan State career, which included winning the 2025 Big Ten Punter of the Year award, while being a member of the All-Big Ten teams for three straight years from 2023-25.

Olympique Lyonnais forward Malick Fofana (21) has rejected the chance to join newly promoted Premier League side Hull City, as per a report from Foot Mercato.
Following their failure to qualify for the UEFA Champions League last week, Lyon are now in a position where they are forced to sell. Fofana is the most obvious candidate to leave, whilst Ruben Kluivert is also being linked with an exit from the Groupama Stadium.
Fofana was the subject of a bid from Hull City. However, the Belgium international has rejected the chance to join the newly promoted club. OL's forward has his sights set on joining a 'bigger' club, Foot Mercato understands.
There are several other clubs interested in the winger, including Sunderland. He is a potential alternative to Olympique de Marseille's Igor Paixao. Fofana's agents have also offered him to several clubs, including **** nal. The player is expected to leave OL before the transfer deadline on Tuesday.

After the Men's First Team's 2-0 win over Parma on Matchday 2 of the 2026/27 Serie A season, coach Luciano Spalletti, Guglielmo Vicario, and Nico Gonzalez shared their thoughts.
"I really liked how we played, both in the first and second halves. We weren't great at finding the right ******* e for triangles to get shots off, and then we were a little disorganised in the box. We put in a lot of crosses without finding that decisive play. But, we played well and with a clear objective, with quality in our play, and constant pressure that let us spend a lot of time in their half. Of course, you need to find that decisiveness as well, you need to anticipate, and to have the quality to capitalise on the work done. We probably weren't precise enough to trouble them more, but we created a lot of chances.
"[Randal] Kolo Muani can play on his own or with a strike partner. He's quick, skilled, and has a lot of quality. He needs to be more ruthless in certain situations because he has everything it takes to make a difference. He knows how to create ******* e for himself and I think, in all, he played well today."
"I was feeling a lot, as I've already said it's a dream that's being realised for me. Now we need to go again with enthusiasm, humility and balance. It's a good night for me, and for the team. Winning is never a given, it's what we work for, but we have to respect our opponent and they're always tough, so this win today was earned. We'll be back to work tomorrow [Sunday], so there's no time to rest on our laurels. We'll be back to work right away with next Sunday in mind."
"I'm happy for the team, we've been working well all week as well. We prepared well for today. I'm happy for the fans, and because I scored and we won."

One journalist has revealed the structure of a package which has been agreed between Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain for Bradley Barcola.
Once David Ornstein reported earlier this week that the two clubs have an 'agreement in principle' over the 23-year-old, it's felt like simply a matter of when and not if the transfer would go through, and it now looks set to be finalised before the Tuesday night deadline.
There has also been much speculation in recent weeks over the future of Cody Gakpo, with Andoni Iraola reluctant to guarantee that the Netherlands forward will remain at Anfield when he spoke to the media on Thursday.
On Saturday morning, transfer reporter Alex Crook took to X to confirm the financial details of Barcola's imminent move to Liverpool and outline the Merseyside club's stance on their Dutch winger.
He posted: 'The fee agreed between LFC and PSG re Barcola is £106m plus £17m add-ons. Cody Gakpo unlikely to be sold unless the Reds sign a second forward in addition to Barcola.'

Eyes slapped shut as the sun rises beyond him, a meditating Novak Djokovic steadfastly smacks his chest, his arms and his legs. Then, cutting to the customary docuseries interview chair-of-doom, the Serb says: "I cannot say I feel content with what I have and who I am. I am always looking to be more: better, faster, stronger."
If you had to envisage how a 92-minute documentary about one of world sport's most successful stars begins, these snippets would not follow the status quo. Yet 24-time major winner Djokovic doesn't do status quo: he is an athlete, an enigma, known as much for his greatness on court as his nonconformity off it. Think Melbourne tree-hugging; think magic potions; think no Covid vaccine.
For Djokovic's The Wolf in Winter fly-on-the-wall movie released last week, as "Prime Video Sports Presents" and "A Film By Jason Hehir" entrance frames are enveloped by clips of Djokovic literally howling into the distance, it all feels rather appropriate. Much like Rafael Nadal's Netflix series earlier this year, it is a genuinely insightful and engaging look at one of tennis' all-time greats. If you haven't watched it yet, consider this a gentle nudge of encouragement.
The timing is conspicuous, too, ahead of the final Grand Slam of the season in New York, starting on Sunday. The US Open marks three years since Djokovic's last major triumph, in a 2023 campaign where he won three of the big four and only missed out on a historic calendar Grand Slam in a final-set defeat to Carlos Alcaraz at Wimbledon.
At that point, a record-breaking 25th singles Grand Slam – which would put him ahead of Margaret Court at the top of the all-time standings, male or female – seemed a simple inevitability. Yet now, this is Djokovic's 12th Grand Slam, chasing that elusive No 25. But it might just be his best shot.

As NFL teams begin to make their final roster cuts ahead of the August 30 deadline, Pittsburgh Steelers star cornerback Joey Porter Jr. has been named a potential trade candidate to watch.
CBS Sports' Bryan DeArdo recently compiled a list of 10 players who could be traded ahead of NFL cutdown day, with Porter serving as one of the biggest names featured.
"Porter has been present during Steelers' practices, but he has yet to take the field as he is hoping to land a new contract," DeArdo wrote. "Coach Mike McCarthy said this week that the team is at an 'impasse' with Porter, who is also on the team's physically unable to perform list after aggravating his back during the team's mobility test on the first day of training camp.
"For whatever reason, the Steelers don't appear to be willing to give Porter the contract that he is hoping for. And while it doesn't appear that the Steelers would trade him, Pittsburgh general manager Omar Kahn has made several surprising player transactions in the past. Khan could do so now with Porter if a team is willing to give the Steelers some considerable capital in exchange for one of the NFL's top young cornerbacks."
Porter has sat out training camp while on the physically unable to perform list after aggravating his back, but the young cornerback potentially wouldn't have participated much given his contract situation.

Everton started their cup play against Preston North End after the 40 mile drive down the M58 and up the M6. David Moyes ended his playing career at Preston and also started his managerial career before Everton came looking for someone to save them from the drop in 2002. A lot has happened since then but what has not changed is the fact that neither team have won silverware since then and today was another step in that journey. On a purely selfish note, I am heading home to Liverpool in September and would love to see a round three match with the Mighty Blues playing under the lights!
David Moyes went with a strong side to take on Preston. Jarrad Branthwaite and Hayden Hackney were given the night off with Michael Keane and James Garner taking their places. A big surprise to see O'Brien on the bench. Tyler Dibling was given another chance to shine on the right wing with Ndiaye moving to his favoured left.
Everton advanced to the third round of the Carabao Cup following a dominant victory over Preston North End, highlighted by a clinical hat-trick from Thierno Barry. After a closely contested first half, Everton pushed forward and eventually forced Preston into submission.
The match began with a warm reception for former manager David Moyes, which set a lively atmosphere that energized the travelling Evertonians. While Preston looked to sit back in a resilient low block and strike on the counter-attack through Delano Burgzorg and Adam Armstrong, Everton safely neutralized those early threats. The Toffees dictated the tempo through key involvements from Iliman Ndiaye, Tyler Dibling, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, despite initially struggling to breach Preston's crowded defensive line.
The deadlock was finally broken when Dewsbury-Hall lobbed a precise ball over the top to Vitaliy Mykolenko, who slid a low cross into the middle for Thierno Barry to tap past goalkeeper Nichols. The Evertonians were in full voice. "Oh, Tierno Barry, oh, Tierno Barry!"

Warriors get Stephen Curry help with elite career 40% three-point shooter originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Rosters are nearing their completion, and the Golden State Warriors have decided which route they want to take in their schemes. Stephen Curry made it clear that he is staying with the squad because of his desire to win another Larry O'Brien trophy. Coach Steve Kerr and the front office have decided to go all-in on outside scoring. This move to acquire Georges Niang solidifies that schematic choice.
The Warriors have signed Georges Niang to a one-year minimum deal valued at $3.9 million, via Anthony Slater of ESPN. This now completes the roster that will surround Stephen Curry heading into the 2026-27 NBA season.
Niang isn't the only signing the Warriors made that day. They also got Brandon Williams. This makes them the only two free agents the organization signed outside its 2025-26 roster.
Aside from being a relentless trash-talker who gets under the skin of opponents, how does Niang fit into all of this?

Barcelona clubbed Elche 5-0 to get their La Liga ******* le defence up and running. The Catalan giants made an easy meal of their opponents in a rampant display.
Raphinha opened the scoring with a penalty that he won and set up Karim Adeyemi to double the lead on his debut just before the half-time break.
Anthony Gordon came on as a substitute and ******* isted Raphinha's second, then set up Fermin Lopez's second when he could have shot for himself.
Lopez, who has returned from the injury that forced him to miss the 2026 World Cup, is looking immaculate again this season.
The Spaniard produced a wonderful turn to get past one defender and scored his second, Barca's fifth.

Florida State senior Jack Whaley is still trying to process what he accomplished last week.
Days after capturing the U.S. Amateur Championship at Merion Golf Club on Aug. 16, Whaley returned to campus as the first Seminole golfer to win the prestigious Havemeyer Trophy and just the third Englishman to claim the ******* le, joining Matt Fitzpatrick (2013) and Harold Hilton (1911).
For Whaley, the victory represents the culmination of years of work and a remarkable rise from the NAIA ranks at Dalton State, where he set the record for shooting 8 under to win the national championship in 2025, to represent the Seminoles on one of amateur golf's biggest stages.
He credited head coach Trey Jones on Aug. 20 for bringing him to Tallahassee and grooming him into an elite golfer.
"It means the most," Whaley said. "For Coach (Trey) Jones and the coaching staff to take a chance on me last year after playing NAIA golf, and now to be sitting in this position, I can't thank them enough. For them to be there with me and experience it, I think it's an incredible memory for all of us, and something we'll cherish forever."

The Detroit Tigers spent the trade deadline loading up on young pitching.
Less than three weeks later, a frustrating pattern has developed.
Right-hander Brady Smith, one of the three prospects Detroit acquired from the Los Angeles Dodgers for Tarik Skubal, was placed on the seven-day injured list by High-A West Michigan on Thursday. Minor League Baseball's official transaction log confirmed the move after Smith left his Aug. 15 start with an apparent issue involving his throwing arm.
The Tigers have not announced the specific nature or severity of Smith's injury.
That distinction matters. An IL placement is concerning. It is not an invitation to diagnose an arm injury from the couch.

Manchester United are still interested in signing Bayern Munich defender Kim Min-jae in the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils are currently focussing on bolstering their midfielder, and are looking to negotiate a deal for Carlos Baleba.
However, Michael Carrick may fancy adding a new centre-back to the ranks, and in that case, Kim Min-jae could emerge as an option.
Min-jae endured made 19 Bundesliga starts and a further six appearances from the bench last season, but he impressed every time he took the pitch.
He also featured eight times in the Champions League, but in reality, the South Korean has slipped behind Dayot Upamecano and Jonathan Tah in the pecking order.

The San Francisco 49ers on Tuesday reached an injury settlement with recently-waived defensive end KJ Henry according to the NFL's transaction wire.
Henry suffered an injury in training camp and was waived by the 49ers on Aug. 12 with an injury designation. When a player with an injury designation isn't claimed, they revert to IR with the team that waived them. They'll remain on IR unless they reach an injury settlement with the team. That settlement is what the 49ers and Henry reached to grant him his free agency.
The 49ers signed the 27-year-old former Washington Commanders fifth-round pick in early August while they dealt with a rash of injuries at defensive end. Henry was let go the day before the 49ers' first preseason game vs. the Tennessee ******* ans.
In three NFL seasons Henry has played in 15 games with three starts. He has 22 tackles and 2.5 sacks with two pass breakups.
