As NFL teams begin to make their final roster cuts ahead of the August 30 deadline, Pittsburgh Steelers star cornerback Joey Porter Jr. has been named a potential trade candidate to watch.
CBS Sports' Bryan DeArdo recently compiled a list of 10 players who could be traded ahead of NFL cutdown day, with Porter serving as one of the biggest names featured.
"Porter has been present during Steelers' practices, but he has yet to take the field as he is hoping to land a new contract," DeArdo wrote. "Coach Mike McCarthy said this week that the team is at an 'impasse' with Porter, who is also on the team's physically unable to perform list after aggravating his back during the team's mobility test on the first day of training camp.
"For whatever reason, the Steelers don't appear to be willing to give Porter the contract that he is hoping for. And while it doesn't appear that the Steelers would trade him, Pittsburgh general manager Omar Kahn has made several surprising player transactions in the past. Khan could do so now with Porter if a team is willing to give the Steelers some considerable capital in exchange for one of the NFL's top young cornerbacks."
Porter has sat out training camp while on the physically unable to perform list after aggravating his back, but the young cornerback potentially wouldn't have participated much given his contract situation.

There are dozens and dozens of not only great players, but phenomenal players in the history of the NFL. Bryan DeArdo of CBS Sports recently published his list of the top 100 players in NFL history. Cincinnati Bengals great Anthony Munoz landed at No. 19, being proclaimed as the best left tackle in NFL history.
To understand how big of a feat that is, let's take a look at some of the previous Bengals before and after Munoz, as well as other players Munoz landed in front of on the list.
On the Bengals side, you're looking at players like Ken Anderson, Ken Riley, Boomer Esiason, Chad Johnson, A.J. Green, Corey Dillon, James Brooks and Tim Krumrie, with a dozen more to list.

While the Denver Broncos didn't make a ton of changes to their AFC Championship roster from last season to this season, they did make a big move on offense.
The trade for Jaylen Waddle was a huge one, as it gave the Broncos offense a dynamic playmaker who proved his worth with the Miami Dolphins. So, it wouldn't be unfamiliar territory to sign a former Dolphins receiving threat this offseason.
Bryan DeArdo of CBS Sports linked the Broncos to free-agent veteran tight end, and former Dolphins Pro Bowler Jonnu Smith, as a potential fun addition to the Denver offense for Sean Payton.
"TE Jonnu Smith: Broncos," DeArdo writes. "... Smith's skill set also meshes with Sean Payton's offense, which gives pass-catchers a chance to make plays after the catch."

The San Francisco 49ers are heading towards the 2026 NFL season with one of the best teams in the league. If it weren't for the Los Angeles Rams' superteam and the defensive Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks, the 49ers would be favorites.
But, if the 49ers want to improve their odds, even if only a little, they should be strongly considering adding a veteran defensive lineman this offseason to improve the pass rush rotation even a little bit more.
That's why CBS Sports' Bryan DeArdo linked the 49ers to free-agent 77-sack defensive end Joey Bosa as a target. But, there's one issue: Bosa is rumored to be considering retirement, which could make this free-agent link moot if Bosa does retire.
"There are rumblings that the soon-to-be-31-year-old Bosa is considering retirement," DeArdo writes. "If he decides to play an 11th season, Bosa - who led the NFL with fave forced fumbles last season - will likely have several suitors that may include the 49ers, who employ his younger brother."

Not long ago, ESPN formally recommended Haason Reddick as a summer free agent signing for the Minnesota Vikings, and about two weeks later, CBS Sports has followed suit. Minnesota may have a depth need at outside linebacker, with a player like Reddick being tailor-made for the ***** ignment.

"Burrow is probably as good as the aforementioned players, but injuries prevented him from receiving similar accolades, DeArdo wrote. "Now healthy, Burrow has lofty goals for himself and his team in 2026."

Trevor Lawrence continues to earn recognition as one of the NFL’s top quarterbacks, even if he’s not quite in the league’s highest tier just yet.
CBS Sports placed the former Clemson standout in its Tier 2 group of “borderline stars” in its latest quarterback rankings, pointing to another strong season in Jacksonville despite the instability he’s faced early in his career.
“Lawrence has endured quite a bit of turbulence in Jacksonville, including playing for three different head coaches,” CBS Sports’ Bryan DeArdo wrote. “While he’ll no longer have Travis Etienne Jr. by his side, Lawrence will have some new pass catchers and an improved offensive line at his disposal.”
Lawrence is coming off one of the best seasons of his career. He finished fifth in NFL MVP voting after throwing for 4,007 yards, the third time in four years he’s eclipsed the 4,000-yard mark, while setting a Jaguars franchise record with 38 total touchdowns.
His strongest stretch came in December, when he earned AFC Offensive Player of the Month honors after leading Jacksonville to a perfect 5-0 record. On Saturday night, Brunson dropped 45 points to guide the Knicks to a Game 5 win over the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals. The victory clinched the franchise their first ******* le since 1973, and left the 6-foot-2, 190-pound guard on top of the basketball world.
