STUART, Florida (AP) — Tiger Woods entered a plea agreement Wednesday to a reckless driving charge following a rollover crash in March near his home in Florida.
The golf legend previously pleaded not guilty to a driving under the influence charge. Woods was arrested after his SUV clipped a truck and rolled over on its side on a beachside residential road on Jupiter Island. A sheriff's report said deputies found two pain pills in his pocket and he showed signs of impairment. He did a Breathalyzer test, which came out negative, but refused to take a urine test.
Woods, 50, appeared in a courtroom in Martin County, just north of Palm Beach County.
Neither Woods nor the person in the other vehicle were injured in the crash, according to officials. But his Land Rover caused $5,000 in damage to the truck, according to a police report. Woods had told a deputy that he was looking down at his phone and changing the radio station when he hit the truck.
Woods is among the most influential figures in golf, but his career has been derailed by multiple back and knee surgeries, car crashes and dependence on pain medication.

Golf legend Tiger Woods was arrested in March for yet another vehicular accident. Woods agreed to a Breathalyzer test that showed no signs of alcohol, but he refused a urine test and showed signs of impairment during the ordeal.
Officers found two painkiller pills in his pocket, and he told deputies he had taken "a few" prescription medications earlier that day. Later, Woods pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence and refusal to submit to testing.
Recently, Woods announced he planned to change his not guilty plea, according to court documents filed Tuesday. Woods was scheduled to appear in court on September 8th but is now expected on Wednesday morning for a plea conference.
The golf legend has been involved in a few other crashes over the years, all of which have stunted his illustrious career. In 2021, he survived a crash in Los Angeles so severe that doctors considered amputating his leg. Woods was not charged with any crimes as authorities determined the crash was caused by excessive speed and not impairment. On the other hand, in 2009, Woods crashed into a fire hydrant and a tree outside of his residence around 2:00 a.m. Police suspected Woods was under the influence or impaired by medication, but no actual charges followed.
Woods has had to bow out of golf due to several back surgeries and lower-body injuries that have affected his mobility. As a result, Woods has battled with prescribed substance dependency. As of June, he formally stepped away from the game and traveled outside of the United States to seek treatment at an inpatient treatment facility.

NASCAR's new superspeedway package didn't completely transform the racing at Daytona, but it showed enough improvement to deserve another opportunity.
The package debuted during Saturday's ******* e Zero Sugar 400 with the rear spoiler reduced from seven inches to four and horsepower lowered from 510 to 465. NASCAR's goal was to reduce drag and give drivers a better opportunity to move through the field instead of relying so heavily on fuel-saving strategies to gain track position. NASCAR
From a viewer's perspective, there were encouraging signs.
The field still raced three-wide, but the cars didn't appear permanently locked into place. After approximately 10 to 15 laps, the bottom and top lanes began separating as handling became more important. Denny Hamlin noticed the same development, explaining on his podcast, Actions Detrimental with Denny Hamlin, that the field could run three-wide for roughly 10 to 15 laps before the middle lane disappeared. The bottom lane would then move down the track while the top lane moved higher as drivers searched for clean air and additional room to move side to side. Actions Detrimental with Denny Hamlin
That separation created more room for drivers to search for clean air and attempt moves. Bubba Wallace said the runs felt slightly larger and that drivers could make some passes. Chase Briscoe and runner-up Daniel Suárez went further, saying the package allowed drivers to create runs and make moves that were more difficult under the previous configuration. Coco Gauff returned to the scene of her grand slam breakthrough on a rain-lashed Tuesday night and safely cleared the first hurdle toward another, launching her pursuit of a second US Open ******* le in four years with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Turkey's Zeynep Sonmez beneath the closed roof of Arthur Ashe Stadium.
The 22-year-old American, seeded fourth in New York, arrived with momentum and expectation running particularly high, fresh off her first ******* le of the year in Cincinnati and having shown encouraging signs that the serve which has so often dictated the rest of her game is becoming a more reliable weapon. Now, three years after she first lifted the trophy here, both a third major championship and the world No 1 ranking are within her reach.
Gauff got off to a confident start before a buzzing crowd, crunching a pair of early aces in a love hold, but the 54th-ranked Sonmez held her own in the muscular baseline exchanges throughout the opening five games. Gauff took control in the sixth, breaking her opponent's serve without dropping a point, then steadied herself through an uneven service game to move to the brink of the set at 5-2. Sonmez held to prolong it, but Gauff calmly served it out after 33 minutes as the heavy rainfall pounding the roof overhead reverberated through Ashe like the inside of a bass drum.
The second set was less straightforward. Gauff broke immediately and appeared poised to pull away, but Sonmez responded by attacking the net and taking advantage of a sudden dip in the American's level, breaking back for 2-all with a searing backhand winner. Gauff then had to dig out of a marathon 16-point service game at 2-3, saving three break points before finally escaping with a 115mph ace down the middle to complete the hold for 3-all. "I knew if I could hold that game, I felt confident breaking the next game," Gauff said.
That proved prescient. Sonmez double-faulted twice in the next game to surrender the critical break, before Gauff consolidated for 5-3 and shortly after held at love to close the show after 1hr 20min.

The Minnesota Golden Gophers volleyball team knew their season opening pair of games against ranked opponents in Sioux Falls in the State Farm Women's College Volleyball Showcase would be tough, and sure enough it was. Then #14 Minnesota was swept 3-0 by #13 Arizona State in Friday's season opener before the Gophers returned the favor to #12 Creighton on Saturday picking up a 3-0 sweep of their own.
In their season opener against Arizona State, the Gophers knew they would still be shorthanded as they slowly worked in their four starters who all missed large chunks of the season a year ago with injuries. Two of the four in McKenna Wucherer and Zeynep Palabiyik returned to action this past weekend while Minnesota still missed middle blocker Calissa Minatee and outside hitter Alex Acevedo. The Sun Devils had opened their schedule the weekend before with an upset win over #2 Texas 3-1.
The opening set was a back and forth affair with the two teams going through 11 ties and five lead changes before ASU took the set, 26-24. Minnesota led 22-20 but the Sun Devils would run off four of the next five points to take control.
In only went downhill from there for Minnesota. ASU jumped on the Gophers in the second set and won 25-17. ASU took an 8-2 lead out of the gate and while Minnesota would make several runs to cut the lead to just three points at multiple points, ASU would run off a 6-1 run to close the set for the win.
Minnesota showed signs of life in the third set, but once again could not hold a late 20-19 lead as ASU would win 26-24. Sun Devils star Una Vajagic finished of the match with back to back kills, two of her match high 20.

Riverwater Partners, an investment management company, released its 'Small Cap Strategy' Q2 2026 investor letter. The letter can be downloaded here. The Small Cap Strategy underperformed the Russell 2000 in the second quarter as the benchmark experienced one of its strongest risk-on rallies in recent memory, although the strategy remained ahead year-to-date. The quarter was defined by accelerating AI investment, energy market disruptions, and renewed investor appetite for higher-beta stocks, creating headwinds for the firm's quality-focused approach and healthcare positioning. Despite this, stock selection contributed positively in energy, materials, and financials, while healthcare and consumer discretionary detracted due to the fund's disciplined avoidance of speculative businesses. Looking ahead, the firm remains cautiously optimistic, focusing on opportunities created by market dislocations, including AI infrastructure enablers, select consumer companies, healthcare innovators, and energy businesses trading below intrinsic value. The strategy continues to emphasize high-quality companies with strong management teams and attractive valuations, positioning the portfolio for a potential rotation away from speculative market leadership. In addition, please check the Strategy's top five holdings to know its best picks in 2026.

During May, long-time strategic holder Advantest exited its entire 8% stake through an upsized secondary offering, with PDF selling additional shares alongside to fund general corporate purposes and potential debt reduction. Cocrystal Pharma (NASDAQ: COCP) may look like another undercapitalized, clinical-stage biotech searching for its niche, and in need of a rescue, but there is more to this story than what meets the eye. Investors glancing at the stock chart may miss the signs of a strategic reset orchestrated by biotech legends, and miss this unique opportunity.
COCP is not a company that lacks science or researchers. It has a drug discovery platform technology capable of delivering broad spectrum antivirals on demand for high value diseases that include norovirus, influenza, coronaviruses, and hepatitis C. If you had to point to something they were lacking then the missing "it factor" was a clear strategic vision. They needed an operator and a commercialization guru capable of aligning the board to his vision and raising the capital they needed on favorable terms to turn a platform technology into an enterprise.
The appointment of James Sapirstein was a transformative moment for the company.
Sapirstein is a high powered biotech exec with an impeccable pedigree. He's not an eager early-career operator looking to make a name for himself. Investors need to realize he joined after decades of experience in commercial pharmaceutical leadership, antiviral development, product launches, and business development. From his bio we learned that he has participated in or led 23 product launches and has driven numerous business-development transactions. His résumé includes founding CEO of Tobira Therapeutics, CEO of Contravir Pharmaceuticals (Hepion Pharmaceuticals, Inc. NASDAQ: HEPA), executive leadership at Serono Laboratories, senior commercial roles at Gilead Sciences (NASDAQ: GILD), and international marketing leadership in Bristol Myers Squibb's (NYSE:BMY) infectious-disease division.

MD Sass, a boutique ****** et management firm, published its second-quarter investor update for its flagship, the "MD Sass Concentrated Value Strategy." The letter can be downloaded here. In the first half of 2026, AI infrastructure stocks led the market, with the Russell 1000 Value increasing by 16.3%, outpacing the S&P 500 (10.2%) and Russell 1000 Growth (5.3%). This growth was fueled by semiconductor, memory, and hardware companies benefiting from AI development, even though they are considered cyclical. These sectors, representing only 7.7% of the Russell 1000 Value at the start of the year, contributed nearly 70% of its returns. The portfolio gained 10.0% in the second quarter, net of fees, compared to 13.9% for the Russell 1000 Value Index. Year-to-date, the strategy returned 6.6%, net of fees, versus 16.3% for the Index. The portfolio faced challenges due to limited exposure to companies with the greatest upside from AI infrastructure investments. It also lacked exposure to the Energy sector, which returned about 20% in the first half amid geopolitical tensions with Iran that increased commodity prices, affecting performance. The firm recognizes the importance of adapting its strategies while maintaining core investment principles as it explores future opportunities in emerging technological themes. An investigation is ongoing after an Arizona State hockey player collapsed on the first day of workouts with the team this fall.
Sun Devils defenseman Matthew Mayich was participating in a workout on Aug. 20, the first day of Arizona State classes for the fall semester, when he collapsed. First responders arrived after calls of a heat-related illness, and Mayich was taken to a local hospital. He has since been transferred to the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix.
Temperature at the time was reportedly between 87 and 89 degrees. The workout was being run by an ex-Green Beret soldier, too, who was leading the team through "grueling" drills, his attorney Robert Carey told the Arizona Republic on Monday. Multiple players told Carey that the former soldier, Tim Ziesel, "yelled at them from the get-go … like a drill instructor," and that they were told not to complain. Water, he said, was only available for those who led exercises.
Mayich allegedly showed obvious signs of distress and was unable to complete tasks throughout the workout.
"He was disoriented and struggled well before he collapsed," Carey said.

Brennan ***** et Management recently released its Q2 2026 investor letter. The letter can be downloaded here. Investors were optimistic about a potential truce with Iran, highlighted by a mid-June memorandum for negotiations on regional security and sanctions, causing oil prices to drop and the market to rally. Despite geopolitical uncertainties, investors remain focused on a surge in AI infrastructure spending, which is expected to heavily influence the global economy, although questions about the returns from this investment loom. Overall, the S&P 500 remains at high valuations, seemingly unfazed by these challenges, while there are few pockets of value left, mostly outside the U.S. market. Also, check the fund's top five holdings to see its best picks in 2026.
In its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, Brennan ***** et Management highlighted Garrett Motion Inc. (NASDAQ:GTX). Garrett Motion Inc. (NASDAQ:GTX) designs and manufactures engineered turbocharging and high-speed electric motor technologies for OEMs, distributors, and industrial fields. On August 28, 2026, Garrett Motion Inc. (NASDAQ:GTX) stock closed at $26.66 per share. The one-month return of Garrett Motion Inc. (NASDAQ:GTX) was -12.70%, and its shares gained 105.66% over the past 52 weeks. Garrett Motion Inc. (NASDAQ:GTX) has a market capitalization of $4.97 billion.
Brennan ***** et Management stated the following regarding Garrett Motion Inc. (NASDAQ:GTX) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"TIGO and Garrett Motion Inc. (NASDAQ:GTX) operate in vastly different businesses, but our investment journey with each shares some similarities. We believe that both are good businesses. TIGO is an oligopoly of an essential service (broadband and cell phone). Meanwhile, GTX is an oligopoly provider of turbochargers to the automotive industry with a potentially valuable new product portfolio focused on industrial and electric vehicle (EV) markets. At the time of purchase, both stocks were hated and exceptionally cheap. Washington, the District Of Columbia-based Danaher Corporation (DHR) designs, manufactures, and markets professional, medical, research, and industrial products and services. The company is valued at $151.9 billion by market cap.
Companies worth $10 billion or more are generally described as "large-cap stocks," and DHR definitely fits that description, with its market cap exceeding this threshold, reflecting its substantial size, influence, and dominance in the diagnostics & research industry. DHR's competitive strengths come from its portfolio of high-margin, mission-critical tools in biotech, diagnostics, and life sciences. Strong positions in regulated, R&D-heavy markets give it pricing power and resilience, even in downturns.

The euro has been trying to recover early on Monday, but in a very lackluster fashion. I think at this point, traders are out there trying to sort out what the Friday speech actually means for forex markets when Kevin Warsh basically eliminated the idea of Federal Reserve rate cuts that many traders had been trying to price in.
As usual, the market got way ahead of itself with that. We've been seeing this for a couple of years now where the market gets excited about potential rate cuts coming out of the United States for a couple of weeks, and then reality sets in. And I think that's part of what's going on here.
So, I'm watching the euro to sell it, not to buy it. Somewhere around the 1.1620 level, if we start to see signs of exhaustion, that would be about a 50% retracement of the move from Friday; I might look for getting short there.
The British pound, I think, is probably going to be somewhat range-bound, mainly because the British pound, of course, has a higher interest rate attached to it. So, it is a little insulated from US dollar strength, and I think most of the reaction was more about the US dollar than anything else.
I wouldn't read too much into British pound weakness, because at this point in time, even if I want to buy the US dollar, I am going to short other currencies, weaker currencies.

A 53-man roster isn't the only thing that NFL teams need to decide on this week. The league's cutdown deadline from 90 to 53 will come and go on Sunday afternoon, and on Monday it will be time for teams to begin ******* embling the other major piece of their rosters: the practice squad.
Over the last several years, this component of the roster has expanded greatly in significance. Not long ago, teams could carry a maximum of 8 players on the practice squad, but that number has gradually increased, now doubling to 16 (plus an additional 17th spot if a team signs a player with an international roster exemption). Furthermore, a player can be elevated from the practice squad to the active gameday roster a few times per year without a full promotion to the 53, making the unit a more functional squad of backups and injury replacements.
As a result, the NFL has expanded the eligibility rules for practice squads over the years as well. Now, a team can sign players with any level of experience to the squad. At least ten of the 16 spots must be taken up by players with two or fewer years of accrued NFL experience, but that leaves up to six slots that can be filled by players of any experience level.
Notably, teams cannot begin signing players to the practice squad until the league's post-roster cut waivers are processed. That will take place at 12 Noon Central Time on Monday, when waiver claims will be awarded. After that, any players who clear waivers become free agents and are eligible to sign with any team, either to a full 53-man roster spot or to a practice squad. Still, there will be reports during cutdown day on Sunday of players whom the Packers would like to bring back for the practice squad if they do clear waivers. Here, APC will keep track of those reports through Sunday, followed by the actual signings on Monday afternoon.
The Green Bay Packers have used the practice squad heavily in recent years as rules have changed, often promoting players to the gameday roster to fill in for injured players or to contribute on special teams. As such, today is an important day for general manager Brian Gutekunst and his staff, who will surely be working hard to bring back several individuals whom the Packers waived as part of Sunday's cutdown. Building out a deep squad can have a major impact on a team's ability to withstand challenges over the course of the season, and the quality of players on that unit could be the difference between the Packers going over or under their projected win total of 9.5, which is the current number on FanDuel sportsbook.

Ripple just unlocked 1 billion XRP. On Sept 1, blockchain tracker Whale Alert flagged three separate transactions, 500 million, 400 million, and 100 million XRP from Ripple's escrow system.
The move is part of Ripple's long-established monthly escrow release schedule, but the size and timing, arriving as XRP shows signs of technical strength, makes it worth understanding what it does mean for investors.
At the time of writing, about 31.28 billion XRP remained locked in Ripple's on-chain escrow, roughly 31.3% of the total 100 billion supply, according to XRP insights.
Last week, Australian lawyer and digital ******* ets enthusiast Bill Morgan flagged about this transaction while reviewing a registration statement filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for the Cryptex Digital Market Cap ETF.
Morgan shared that Ripple has indicated it could release additional XRP from escrow to support on-ledger liquidity for stablecoin and foreign exchange trading pairs if the CLARITY Act is passed.

Newcastle United's search for an additional attacking reinforcement is showing no signs of slowing down, with Matthias Jaissle's side exploring several possibilities as the transfer window enters its final stretch.
Matias Fernandez-Pardo remains the No. 1 target, with Newcastle nearing an agreement with Lille, but the Magpies could have turned their attention toward another versatile attacker from Italy's Serie A.
According to Foot Mercato's Santi Aouna, Newcastle is interested in Roma's Matias Soule and contact between the parties is already underway.
"Newcastle is interested in Matías Soulé of AS Roma," Aouna reported. "Contact is ongoing between the parties."
TEAMtalk's Graeme Bailey subsequently provided further details, reporting that Soule has been added to Newcastle's attacking shortlist alongside Fernandez-Pardo and Stuttgart's Bilal El Khannouss.

In its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, Riverwater Partners Small Cap Strategy highlighted Stevanato Group S.p.A. (NYSE:STVN) as a new holding. Stevanato Group S.p.A. (NYSE:STVN) is an Italian company that designs and distributes products and processes that offer integrated solutions for the biopharma and healthcare industries. On August 31, 2026, Stevanato Group S.p.A. (NYSE:STVN) closed at $21.03 per share. Stevanato Group S.p.A. (NYSE:STVN) gained 9.06% in the past month while its shares lost 5.39% over the past 52 weeks. Stevanato Group S.p.A. (NYSE:STVN) has a market capitalization of $5.85 billion and its stock has traded within a 52-week range of $12.89 to $28.00.
Riverwater Partners Small Cap Strategy stated the following regarding Stevanato Group S.p.A. (NYSE:STVN) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"In addition, we initiated positions in Stevanato Group S.p.A. (NYSE:STVN), a leading global provider of drug containment, drug delivery, and diagnostic solutions to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and life sciences industries. The stock sold off following the launch of oral GLP-1s, which many believe will end the need for injectable forms. Experts believe an expanding GLP-1 TAM, coupled with varying use cases, will necessitate ongoing need for injectable forms. Indeed, 25% of drugs approved in 2025 were biologics which will require injectable devices. This market overreaction offered an attractive entry valuation of 12.5x FY2026E EBITDA vs. STVN's historic multiple of 20X and its nearest comp West Pharmaceutical (WST) at approximately 22–25x."

With the 4-0 win against Lecce behind them, it's already time for Roma to focus on their next league match against Atalanta. At Trigoria, all eyes will be on Evan Ndicka's condition.
The defender was expected to start at the Via del Mare on Monday evening, but a problem he picked up during the warm-up forced Gian Piero Gasperini to make a last-minute change to Ghilardi.
According to Il Tempo and Il Romanista, Ndicka will need to be evaluated upon the resumption of training to determine the full extent of the problem and his availability for the match against Atalanta.
Positive signs are emerging regarding Devyne Rensch.
The Dutch winger, who missed the Lecce match, is expected to be close to returning to the squad and could be available again during the week.

Former Newcastle defender John Anderson has a new favourite Magpies player in Amar Dedic following the full-back's impressive start on Tyneside.
After Newcastle beat Tottenham 2-0, Anderson praised a number of the individual performances from Mathias Jaissle's side.
"I'm always cautious," he told BBC Radio Newcastle. "It's only two games in, but there's more encouraging signs than there is negativity, that's for sure."
"Nico Gonzalez came in and had an excellent debut. Anthony Elanga looks like a new player compared with last season, when he came in for a lot of criticism. Yoane Wissa the same. They're like two new signings as well because of the way that they've played in the opening games. Lewis Miley came into midfield and just strolled - he and Gonzalez bossed it in there.
"Defensively, we were worried. I was worried about Sven Botman coming into the season because his form in pre-season had been really poor. But, he and Malick Thiaw are building up a good relationship.

Ayesha Curry has opened up about her husband Stephen Curry's future with the Golden State Warriors in a recent interview.
As of September 1, 2026, Curry is eligible to sign a contract extension with the Warriors that could pay him up to $136.7 million.
The 38-year-old legend has always been considered a one-team man by fans, but GSW's recent competitive struggles and grim immediate future have created uncertainty until Curry signs on the dotted line.
The Currys were interviewed by Dalton Johnson, with Ayesha being asked about Curry's playing future. She reaffirmed that Steph can easily continue his career, while hinting at incoming 'fun surprises.'
"Of course, (Steph) is the hardest-working man in the room. He has no days off. He hasn't stopped since last season ended. He's ready. He's ready to get out there. I think we're going to be in for some fun surprises over the next couple of years."

On Saturday, Stephen Curry became eligible for a two-year, $136.7 million contract extension, which would be added after the $62.6 million he will make this coming season. Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy has been unequivocal: Golden State wants Curry back at any price. While some fans have wondered if Curry would get a wandering eye and consider chasing a ring elsewhere, Curry told Dalton Johnson of NBC Sports Bay Area he wants to stay right where he is.
"There's no question I want to be here the rest of my career, and I'm pretty sure that's going to happen," Curry said to NBC Sports Bay Area in an exclusive interview...
"The deal and the contract stuff will happen at the right time, and we're not letting it be a distraction from our preparation for the season, and the fact that the team we're coming back with has a lot of familiarity."
This only echoes what Curry has said all along. He has given no signs he's looking around.
The timing of the extension is where things get interesting — and could lead to more speculation. If Curry signs the extension before the start of next season, all the chatter goes away.

Broadcom (NASDAQ: AVGO) and Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ: AMD) sit side by side in many artificial intelligence (AI) hardware conversations, yet the market makes it clear they are not the same kind of stock. Broadcom looks like a cash-rich infrastructure utility. AMD looks more like a leveraged bet on a shift in which players will supply the brains of data centers. That difference, more than any single metric, is what their valuations are signaling.

Broadcom's AI business is built around selling high-speed networking equipment and designing custom accelerators for hyperscalers that want their own bespoke silicon. It co-designs application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) for customers such as Microsoft, Alphabet, Amazon, and Meta Platforms.
Each of these chips is narrowly built for the specific model mix and power envelope of the buyer, in contrast to the general-purpose GPUs sold by AMD, Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA), and others. Because of this, ASICs can be more efficient and less costly to use than GPUs for the precise types of workloads they are designed for.
Those ASIC programs are large. Broadcom's AI semiconductor revenue sits near $8.4 billion per quarter, with a disclosed AI chip backlog of around $73 billion, and management is now talking about a line of sight to more than $100 billion in AI revenue in 2027. Custom ASIC servers are on track to reach about 27.8% of AI server shipments in 2026, with ASIC sales volumes growing 44.6% year over year, well ahead of the growth pace of merchant GPUs.

Knicks projected to part ways with key 2026 NBA Championship piece originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
A rare phenomenon in the NBA is when a team keeps its championship squad intact for a back-to-back run. The New York Knicks, led by Jalen Brunson, do not have that luxury heading into the 2026-27 season. They already lost Mitchell Robinson to the Boston Celtics; the next domino is about to fall. That's because James Dolan has made it clear the franchise can compete, but only with certain salary cap stipulations. So, who's the person predicted to leave the Knicks? Miles McBride.
James Dolan has made things clear to Leon Rose: the Knicks can compete as long as their salaries do not hit the second apron. As a consequence, Jalen Brunson lost a screener and fair rebounder in Mitchell Robinson during the offseason. With this pattern looming, Miles McBride is the next candidate to leave.
The Knicks and McBride had an extension deadline in mid-August if they wanted him to settle for a cheaper deal. As expected, the young guard has not signed and will play out the last year of his deal with the Knicks. All signs point to the Knicks seeing McBride walk in NBA Free Agency and not getting any value in return, via James L. Edwards III of The Athletic.

A 53-man roster isn't the only thing that NFL teams need to decide on this week. The league's cutdown deadline from 90 to 53 will come and go on Sunday afternoon, and on Monday it will be time for teams to begin **** embling the other major piece of their rosters: the practice squad.

Mel Gibson has come under fire after mocking an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter during a Fan Expo Canada panel over the weekend.
Page Six reported that the Braveheart actor walked on stage, waved at the crowd, and then mimicked the interpreter's signs. The clip has now gone viral with people calling his behavior "bonkers," "despicable," and "gross."
"This choice is bonkers to me. *interpreter just doing their job, people clapping for you, positive vibes* Mel Gibson: *makes fun of ASL interpreter for no reason at all* What dysfunction causes a brain to need to be casually cruel for no reason?" one social media user wrote via X.
After the clip was widely circulated, the Oscar winner issued an apology for his behavior at "the largest comics, sci-fi, horror, anime and gaming event in Canada."

San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle is set to take another step toward a Week 1 return.
ESPN's Pat McAfee on Monday reported Kittle is set to participate in team drills for the 49ers in Tuesday's practice after only participating in the individual portions of practices since being activated off the PUP list.
It isn't necessarily a surprise that Kittle is going to work out in team drills since clearing that hurdle will be paramount to the team being comfortable flying him to Australia to play in Week 1. Kittle will first have to get through the team drills without a problem, and then they'll see how his body responds to going through the closest thing he's had to live football since January.
Barring a disaster, all signs have pointed toward Kittle playing in Week 1 vs. the Los Angeles Rams in Australia. There's been optimism about it since early in the offseason and there's never been any counter reporting to indicate Kittle and the team are eyeing anything but a Week 1 return.
There's always a chance Kittle doesn't quite feel right after Tuesday's practice and the team shuts him down until they're gearing up for Week 2, but it sure seems like the 49ers and Kittle are staying on the timeline that gets him in uniform for their 2026 opener.

Anthony Edwards stands out as the face of the Minnesota Timberwolves franchise. They want to keep him around for the long term, seeing ***** yst Brian Windhorst provide insight into the situation.
Edwards has been playing in the NBA since 2020, balling out six years into his career for the Timberwolves. He ranks first as the highest-paid player on the Minnesota squad, elevating them into serious playoff contention.
Windhorst recently appeared for an episode of the Hoop Collective this weekend. Edwards is under contract until the end of the 2028-29 campaign, but he will be eligible for a major contract extension that will make him one of the highest-paid players in the entire league. Windhorst explained that Edwards could feel differently about his team's future by next summer.
"He's excited about the team now. When he needs to be excited is a year from now when he signs the extension," Windhorst said at the 11-minute mark. "And listen, if the extension was now, maybe he would sign it. Maybe he would be excited about this enough to sign it, and maybe he thinks LaMelo is going to be a perfect fit; and maybe he will be a perfect fit. I'm not trying to be a jerk. I'm just trying to be honest. The time where Ant has to feel really good about the Wolves is a year from now."
