The family of Celeste Rivas Hernandez, who would have turned 16 this week, has named D4vd in a wrongful death lawsuit.
The Withered artist was ordered to stand trial in Celeste's murder back in July, with prosecutors accusing him of "brutally killing [the 14-year-old] because he feared their illicit ***** ual relationship would ruin his aspiring career." In addition to the murder, D4vd, born David Burke, is charged with continuous ***** ual abuse of a child and unlawful mutilation of human remains.

China considers self-governing Taiwan to be part of its territory and rejects the island's claim to sovereignty. Beijing generally refers to Taiwan as "China's Taiwan region."

Provo has asked a Los Angeles judge to bar that argument after an Aug. 24 pretrial discussion in which, according to his attorneys, Ye's counsel would not agree to keep the rapper's mental-health history out of the case. Provo's side says mental health was never pleaded as an affirmative defense and no supporting medical records or expert testimony were produced during discovery.
The new filing is a pretrial attempt to determine what his lawyers may argue or introduce when the civil case is heard, and TMZ reports that Provo wants the court to prevent the issue from being raised at all.
Provo's lawyers are also relying on Ye's own deposition. Asked whether he felt he was not himself around the period when he ran Donda Academy, Ye answered no and said that time was "close to me being myself."

Crystal Lee, a former ******* istant athletic trainer with the Kings from 2022 to 2025, filed the complaint with the Superior Court of California in Sacramento County on Aug. 11, alleging she was treated unfairly and demoted twice after becoming pregnant and giving birth to her son.
Lee's representative, Robert King of King & Siegel LLP, told USA TODAY in a statement that they intend to prove their allegations.

Kanye West has settled with his former personal ***** istant in a lawsuit that accused the rapper of ***** ual harassment, ***** ual ***** ault and wrongful termination, according to TMZ.
Attorneys for Lauren Pisciotta filed court documents in Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday stating that the two sides reached an "unconditional" settlement on July 23, according to TMZ. A request to dismiss the case is expected to be filed within 45 days of that date. Terms of the agreement were not made public.
Representatives for West, who legally changed his name to Ye, did not immediately respond to a request for comment, according to TMZ.
The filing appears to bring an end to one of the most closely watched civil cases involving the rapper. Attorneys for both sides told Judge Nicholas F. Daum on June 29 that they had settled in principle following a mediation session held earlier that month, according to Complex, which reviewed the court record. An upcoming hearing was taken off the calendar to give the parties time to finalize the deal, with the case scheduled to return to court in late September if further proceedings were needed.

Major League Baseball’s All-Star Week gives fans and players alike time to take the edge off and enjoy lighthearted ballgame festivities. After four months of winning streaks and preliminary division races, it’s time to close out the first half of the season with a lively stoppage in play. From the Home Run Derby to the Midsummer Classic, MLB’s All-Star break supplies entertainment while accentuating players’ successes.
But not every player gets recognized. Between fan voting, a player ballot and the Commissioner’s Office (all steps in determining All-Stars), the league does an acceptable job of selecting deserving players. That said, every year a handful of guys wrongfully spend their All-Star break at home instead of under the lights.
A trio of rookies got their first career All-Star nods in 2026, but it should’ve been four. St. Louis Cardinals’ shortstop JJ Wetherholt has lived up to every expectation in his freshman campaign and has the highest fWAR of any position player not invited to Philadelphia.
Wetherholt stood at the doorstep of the majors as St. Louis’ highest overall prospect in 2025. His scouting report claimed he’d excel in bat-to-ball contact, yet it’s been his other tools that’ve gotten Cardinals’ fans inspired for the future.
As of July 8, Wetherholt has numerically been the best defender in baseball. On top of a perfect fielding run value score via Baseball Savant, he has a substantial baserunning run value as well, currently at 93 (50 is league average, 100 is perfect).

"Following the Trump Administration's refusal to renew federal grant funding that supported the program, my Office is suspending our Conviction Review Unit," Ellison said in a statement.
"Current budget constraints do not allow the program's costs to be absorbed without compromising other core responsibilities."
The unit was formed in 2020 and started accepting applications to review cases in 2021. Ellison said it had received a $300,000 grant for its initial two years to fund the work of an attorney and the grant was renewed at $500,000 for a period of two more years.

The chef, who held the position from November 2024 through March 2025, alleges she was **** igned "excessive hours, physically demanding tasks, and high-pressure events" despite informing Jenner and her management team of her high-risk pregnancy, which required accommodations.
Attorney Della Shaker of Shaker Law Group addressed the suit on behalf of the chef in a statement to USA TODAY on Thursday, June 25: "For our client, this case is about finding justice after one of the most painful chapters of her life. She looks forward to having the truth come to light through the judicial process."

The parents of former NFL running back Doug Martin have filed a lawsuit against the city of Oakland, its police officers and an ambulance company over the death of the late Pro Bowler, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
Martin died last October at the age of 36, in an incident where police were attempting to detain him during an alleged mental health episode that saw him break into a neighbor’s house.
According to Oakland attorney John Burris, who is reportedly representing the family, an independent pathologist concluded that Martin likely died from “restrained asphyxia” after officers allegedly pushed him to the floor and pressed on his back. The pressure reportedly left Martin unresponsive and he later died at the hospital.
Martin’s parents are reportedly seeking damages for wrongful death, loss of familial relationship, funeral and coroner expenses and loss of financial support, plus attorney’s fees.
