The Los Angeles Rams made a trade out of nowhere on Thursday afternoon, just hours before their preseason game against the Los Angeles Chargers. They traded running back Jarquez Hunter to the Miami Dolphins for Tutu Atwell, reuniting with the receiver they just let walk in free agency five months ago.
It was a surprising trade for both teams, especially given the depth Los Angeles already had at wide receiver. Immediately, some fans questioned whether this deal was in preparation for a possible Puka Nacua suspension.
Sean McVay says that isn't the case. He told reporters after Thursday's game that acquiring Atwell had nothing to do with any possible suspension for Nacua. He says the Rams just wanted more depth at the position.
Additionally, Atwell won't ******* p any wide receivers that were previously going to make the team off the roster. That's an indication the Rams could keep as many as seven wideouts.
Atwell spent the last five years with the Rams after being a second-round pick in 2021 out of Louisville, but he never lived up to expectations. Even after signing a $10 million fully guaranteed contract last offseason, he barely played any snaps for the Rams.

A day after the news of Dolly Parton's death broke, the president of Dollywood gave an update on the Tennessee theme park. Co-owned by Herschend and Dolly Parton Productions, the theme park welcomes roughly four million guests every season. With Parton's passing, many fans questioned the park's future, and its president has put them all at ease.
On August 26, Dollywood's official Instagram page shared an emotional video from president Eugene Naughton. "This is a really heavy day for all of us here at Dollywood Parks and Resorts," he said. "We've been dealing with the news of our Dreamer in Chief passing, and I want to speak directly to you to make sure you realize that she's alive and well here."
Naughton addressed fans' concerns about any potential changes to the park. He said, "I know a lot of people are concerned that things are going to change without Dolly being present here, and I want to **** ure you that it's not. Just know that we're all going to keep her alive here." Growing emotional, he encouraged fans to keep the legendary country musician's legacy alive in her absence.
"We're all humans, so I ask everyone to just remember that," he said. "And to honor how she would treat others; show kindness. Don't be afraid to love big. Don't be afraid to dream big. Don't be afraid to care more about others because that's exactly what we're going to do. Because that's exactly what she'd want us to do." He concluded the video, saying, "The show must go on."
Fans showed their support for Naughton in the comments. One fan wrote, "Someone give that man a hug. I could see it in his eyes that he was hurting." Gene Deal claims he's being pressured to testify in Duane "Keffe D" Davis' murder trial over the 1996 killing of Tupac Shakur.
During a conversation with The Art of Dialogue, the former Bad Boy bodyguard explained why he believes his testimony is being sought, claiming there is interest in having him establish a connection between Keffe D and Sean "Diddy" Combs.
"They want me to show that Keffe D and Diddy had a relationship," Deal said. "They want me to establish what I know about Keffe D and Puff coercing with each other when they're around each other. Gambling, laughing, drinking, popping bottles, the whole nine yards. That's what they wanted me to do."
Deal stressed that much of what he knows about the circumstances surrounding Tupac's death came from what others allegedly told him rather than what he personally witnessed.

The Los Angeles Rams beat the Los Angeles Chargers by a final score of 20-18 in Week 3 of the NFL preseason. Though the Rams began with the ball on offense, and Ty Simpson perhaps threw the best ball of his career in this contest, the story of the game more or less begins with Justin Herbert, and some other notable Chargers taking the field in this preseason matchup.
The Chargers wanted to see parts of their first team offense as they gear up for Week 1. It started about as poorly as it could for the former team out of San Diego. Herbert bobbled his second snap as the Rams defense came away with the takeaway.
Safety Nick Andersen, who's had a nice preseason, made the recovery, and it was a thrilling moment for the defensive unit full of backups and fringe players. The Rams scored a field goal on the turnover as the Chargers defense, also playing with some expected starters, stopped the Rams on a fourth and goal.
Before you could wonder if the Chargers and their offense were in serious trouble, Herbert showed that his regular season should be just fine when he found Quentin Johnston for a 65-yard TD strike. At that point, Jim Harbugh and Mike McDaniel had seen enough from Herbert who went to the sidelines with his one fumble, one touchdown day.
Simpson played the entire first half, and opened the game failing to score a touchdown on his first couple drives, but Simpson did lead the team to a Harrison Mevis field goal before flashing on an 11-yard touchdown throw that should get plenty of media coverage on Friday.

Bayern Munich board member for Max Eberl has been a busy beaver the past few days, but his work is not done (in truth, it never is).
On good note, though, Eberl is having very positive interactions with the camp for star striker Harry Kane. As it stands, things seem to be progressing swimmingly with negotiations over a new contract.
"The contract negotiations, I have to be completely honest, have been incredibly harmonious, with both sides working together extremely well. We have a player who very much wants to stay and a club that very much wants to extend his contract. Of course, there are still details that need to be worked out. We have a very professional, yet pleasant, way of communicating with each other," Eberl told Sky Germany's Kerry Hau.
Kane, whose current contract ends after this season is expected to get at least a two-year extension, maybe three. Surely, that is one of the most important details being debated at the moment between the two side.

Mike Perry will not be fighting Dillon Danis this weekend in Orlando, Fla.
Perry made the announcement during Thursday's Duel Arena 1 pre-fight press conference. On 48-hours notice, former UFC fight Brandon Jenkins stepped in to face "Platinum" at Kia Center. The bout headlines the fight card.
"Let's not beat around the bush. This p*ssy ****** b*tch Dillon Danis didn't show the f*ck up," Perry said. "He's not here. He backed the f*ck out because he's a p*ssy.

Enzo Maresca wants Phil Foden to exert more influence within the Manchester City squad as he looks for new leaders to emerge following a string of departures.
Foden is still trying to rediscover his best form after two inconsistent campaigns since he was named Premier League player of the season in 2023-24, but City have kept faith in their academy product and the 26-year-old signed a new four-year contract in July.
Having made his debut at the age of 17, Foden is in his 10th season at the club, and is the most decorated player in City's history alongside the now departed John Stones and Bernardo Silva.
Maresca needs to reshape his leadership group following the exits of Silva and Rodri, seeking one or two more players to join Ruben Dias and Erling Haaland in his group of captains.

The summer of 2026 has been a big one for the NBA. Besides major trades and ownership drama, we've seen several players call it a career, including Russell Westbrook and Kyle Lowry. Of course, there's also point guard legend Chris Paul, who retired back in February after being released by the Clippers.
In the case of Paul and Westbrook specifically, their NBA stories may be over now, but the fun is only just getting started. According to NBA veteran Matt Barnes, the former superstars are planning to link up for an epic vacation, where they will bring their wives to honor their storied careers.

It's never easy for an athlete to walk away from their favorite sport, but it's a moment that comes for every player. What comes next varies from person to person, but it really depends on how involved they want to be with the game. While some ex-players (like Tracy McGrady and Vince Carter) opt for media roles, others (like Jason Kidd) accept a coaching job. There are also those like Tim Duncan, who stay out of the limelight entirely.
We don't yet know which category Russ and Paul will fall into, but it's likely they need this vacation after the way they ended things. For Chris, his final stint with the Clippers was supposed to be a final send-off for his career, but things turned ugly when they struggled to win games. Michael Strahan is reportedly a father of five!
The "Good Morning America" host, 54, and girlfriend Kayla Quick quietly welcomed their first child together, a daughter, earlier this year, according to TMZ. Strahan is also dad to daughter Tanita, 34, and son Michael Jr., 31, whom he shares with ex-wife Wanda Hutchins, and twins Sophia and Isabella, 21, with ex-wife Jean Muggli.
The former New York Giants player and Quick, who founded wellness supplement brand FIZZNESS, were first romantically linked in 2015. In the years since, they have largely kept their relationship under wraps.
In 2023, they made a rare public appearance together when Quick attended a ceremony honoring Strahan as he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Strahan has been outspoken about his kids in the past, sharing in 2025 that his daughter Isabella Strahan had been diagnosed with medulloblastoma, a cancerous brain tumor, two years prior. Arlington Heights may still be in contention as the future home of the Chicago Bears, according to new comments from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, who remains directly involved in discussions about the team's stadium search.
In recent months, Bears officials have repeatedly emphasized that their focus is on Hammond, Indiana, where they have been conducting feasibility studies on two potential sites. One of those locations has already been deemed viable. But Goodell's remarks this week suggest the possibility of an Illinois option remains alive.
The commissioner spoke during the NFL owners meeting in Atlanta, where he said, "We want to make sure that Arlington Heights and Illinois have an opportunity, as well as Indiana, to put their best foot forward."
The Bears own 326 acres in Arlington Heights, the former site of Arlington International Racecourse.

Back in the day, Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook were among the best partnerships in the league. It was a legendary duo that helped the Oklahoma City Thunder become perennial contenders with them as the superstars. Unfortunately, that came to an end when Kevin Durant made a big decision to join the Golden State Warriors in 2016.
It was a sad ending to one of the best duos in recent NBA history. That propelled Westbrook to become a bigger star, winning the MVP in 2017. Unfortunately, Westbrook ended up becoming an NBA journeyman in the later part of his career, eventually retiring in 2026.
Durant's departure from OKC was a sad one because everyone thought he and Westbrook would stay together and win a championship. Unfortunately, only Durant won a ***** le, and those two rings are disputed by a lot of people for being an easy way out for him.
Despite the animosity that stemmed from his exit, it seems that Durant and Westbrook are good friends. In fact, Westbrook is still quite friendly with Durant's mother, Wanda. It is a sad ending for one of this generation's best players, but it seems he made the right decision for him in the long-term future by stepping away on his terms.

Chris Sale clearly wanted that one.
The Atlanta Braves ace threw a shutout against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday, finishing off a three-game sweep with a 1-0 win. The game was billed as a pitchers' duel against Dodgers ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto and he most certainly delivered.
Sale's final line: 9 innings, 5 hits, 0 runs, 0 walks and 11 strikeouts (tying a season high) on 109 pitches. He finished things off with a punchout of Alex Call.
The 27-year-old Sale turned back the clock in multiple ways. It was his first shutout since 2019, a span of time that includes 117 starts, three All-Star berths and the 2024 NL Cy Young Award. Only five older pitchers have thrown a shutout with double-digit strikeouts and no walks in MLB's modern era: Cy Young, Eddie Plank, Steve Carlton, Nolan Ryan and Randy Johnson.
He also found some rare heat against the Dodgers' most dangerous hitter. Facing Shohei Ohtani in the third inning, Sale threw a 100.1 mph fastball, his fastest pitch since July 6, 2018 according to MLB.com's Sarah Langs.

Royals A Lot Blue Jays Not Much
That was bad right from the start. Spencer Arrighetti gave up two runs in the first (one in a game opening home run) and two runs in the second. He ended up going four innings, with four runs (three earned, Arrighetti made the error), five hits, two walks and four strikeouts. He did show some good pitches at times, but when he was hit, he was hit hard.
Braydon Fisher pitched a scoreless inning.
Simeon Woods Richardson had just an awful inning, giving up five hits, six earned, 2 walks, with one strikeout. I'd say it was like pitching batting practice, but I think you'd want better pitches in BP.
Michael Lorenzen got into his first game with the Jays, giving up three hits, one earned, one walk, with two strikeouts in two innings.

Something I've seen several times here is the notion that the A's will have trouble luring a quality GM to be the next front office leader of the club. After all several openings will exist (we know for sure Houston is looking) and why would a GM choose the A's, a nomadic team closing in on 100 losses if they're not careful?
Glad you asked. To A's fans things might look bleak at the moment, as the team limps to the finish line in a season that has been epically disappointing. But to a GM coming on board, there is much to recommend the job:
1. A new stadium is imminent and that is always a terrific position for a franchise to be in. With the opening of a new stadium — and in this case also a new city location — comes excitement and the promise of a new revenue stream.
Now you and I may be as skeptical as we want as to how much Las Vegas will embrace the A's, how many of the fans will be die-hard A's fans and not tourists pulling hard for the opponent, whether all the games will be sold out or whether a small stadium will still struggle to fill every seat.
Nonetheless it's pretty much a given that attendance will be strong in the maiden years and that overall it will dwarf the numbers from Oakland and Sacramento, if only because those numbers were so small.

Umar Nurmagomedov thinks his brother, Usman Nurmagomedov, can compete with the UFC's best.
Usman (22-0), who became a free agent after knocking out Archie Colgan at PFL New York last month, could be UFC bound if he opts not to re-sign with PFL. His older brother Umar raved about his work ethic, and thinks he's ready for the elite of the UFC's lightweight division – including champion Justin Gaethje.
"He's an amazing fighter, and I'm a huge fan of his," Nurmagomedov told MMA Junkie of Usman. "I like how he spars, how he works, how he does everything as a professional. And even in the cage, he shows he's a high-level fighter. I think he can be competitive with anybody in the world.
"Sometimes people think in other promotions, (they're) bad fighters, but it's not like that. For example, Shabliy is one of the toughest guys, Alexandr Shabliy. Even Arman (Tsarukyan) knows that because he sparred with him a lot. He knows how he's tough, and I think Usman can compete with anybody in the world. Gaethje, Ilia (Topuria), Arman, (Mauricio) Ruffy, anybody."
Their teammate, UFC welterweight champion Islam Makhachev, has openly said he wants to see Usman in the UFC. Nurmagomedov on the other hand, wasn't as direct with his opinion.

Three years after El Segundo's Little League team captured a World Series championship, its coach is helping preserve the story through a new book that chronicles the team's **** le run and the lessons learned along the way.
"Second to None: A Coach's Message of Love and Selflessness Propels Tiny El Segundo to a Dramatic Little League World **** le" recounts the team's 2023 12-U All-Stars World Series championship and the values that helped guide the players to success.
Coach and co-author Danny Boehle said he wanted the book to serve as a lasting tribute to the players, families and community.
Three years after the El Segundo Little League All-Stars captured a World Series championship, the team's historic run is being commemorated in a new book.
"Dreams came true for these little kids because they just trusted in what we had to offer them, and they believed in what we did," Boehle said.

The NCAA's new 5‑in‑5 eligibility rule continues to send shockwaves through college athletics, and nowhere is the confusion more visible than in Texas A&M's still‑unfinished 2026–27 basketball roster. The past week delivered another round of twists.
First, former G‑League guard Bryson Warren was ruled ineligible by both the NCAA and the SEC. Warren secured a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) against the NCAA, but the SEC's stance remained unchanged, prompting him to enter the transfer portal and leaving the Aggies with an unexpected roster vacancy.
Meanwhile, former A&M guard Rylan Griffen awaited a ruling in his own lawsuit in the Dallas court system. On Thursday, a judge granted a TRO against the NCAA, the SEC, and commissioner Greg Sankey, effectively telling the governing bodies that if they want to challenge Griffen's eligibility, they'll have to do it in court.
The TRO doesn't prevent the SEC from issuing punishments to schools that play athletes it considers ineligible, but Griffen's case carries a key distinction. He never signed a professional contract. His only pro‑adjacent experience was a summer league deal with the Denver Nuggets, which functions more like a tryout than a guaranteed roster spot. Chelsea want a higher price than £120m for Enzo Fernandez amid Manchester City's ongoing interest in the midfielder.
Chelsea had long been open to business for a £120m fee for the Argentina international in what was already a complicated saga, but it is understood that no longer applies, partly due to how summer market valuations have risen.
One of the higher prices was the £116m fee City themselves paid to Nottingham Forest for Elliot Anderson this summer, and it now appears they would have to greatly increase on that club record to secure Fernandez.

For any followers of Detroit Catholic Central who were a little worried about how a quality and deep senior class from last year's Division 1 state championship team would be replaced, Thursday's season opener against Clinton Chippewa Valley showed that Catholic Central should be just fine.
Catholic Central opened up its ****** le defense with a 55-0 rout of Chippewa Valley, showing it will still be elite behind a blend of upperclassmen who showed they should thrive in expanded roles, and talented underclassmen who should be household names soon on the recruiting circuit — if they aren't already.
"We focused on our process and working really hard," Catholic Central head coach Justin Cessante said. "I thought we did that all summer. These guys really want their own identity. We wanted to set the tone for the season and they sure did."
Catholic Central entered the season opener with just two returning starters on defense, one of whom was one of the country's top recruits in senior Gideon Gash, who has committed to Texas Tech.
Gash was his customary brilliant self, making plays in the passing game on offense, as a defensive back on defense and on special teams, returning a punt 48 yards for a touchdown.

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart is entering his sophomore season with a new head coach and a plethora of new teammates. Yet, there's one particular teammate who joined the franchise in 2025 who will work most closely with Dart, hoping to boost his morale: veteran quarterback Jameis Winston.
Dart's rookie stint was fairly impressive; he tallied nine rushing touchdowns, 15 passing touchdowns, and just five interceptions. Nevertheless, a few ill-advised risks led Dart to take some big hits, which resulted in concussion protocol mandates.
Dart already has the intangibles to succeed in the NFL, but it's all about execution from this point forward. In Dart's second year, he'll be greatly edified by this wisdom from head coach John Harbaugh and feed off of the charismatic aura of Winston.
Winston has been intentionally thorough with his play in the preseason, posting a QB Rating of 91.4, 15 completions, and 150 yards in the most recent 26-3 exhibition win over the Miami Dolphins. Winston also posted just one incompletion and averaged 9.9 yards per passing attempt in the preseason opener versus the Minnesota Vikings on Aug 15.
Ultimately, Winston's preseason play should leave Dart with an undertone of resilience, a point of reference that Dart will want to replicate when the regular season starts.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Chicago Bears and Tennessee wrapped up training camp Thursday with a joint practice highlighted late by a hit laying out wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson in a two-minute drill that **** ans coach Robert Saleh needed only one word to describe.
"Cheap," Saleh said.
The coach also said Robinson was being evaluated for a concussion after the hit. **** ans quarterback Cam Ward said his pass over the middle has to be better. Chicago defensive back Xavier Woods made the hit that brought players together yelling.
Titans left guard Peter Skoronski said he just watched the play again before talking to reporters after practice. He said it was unacceptable and the kind of thing that's on Tape 101 of what not to do in a period of practice where players are not tackling. Both he and veteran center Austin Schlottmann ran downfield after the hit.
"I get we're being competitive, I get DBs are physical, stuff like that," Skoronski said. "But that's totally uncalled for in the practice time like this. D'Andre Swift joined the Chicago Bears back in 2024, signing a three-year free-agent contract. Now, he's back with Ben Johnson, whom he worked with during his time at the Detroit Lions, and things are going swimmingly well, according to Johnson.
Chicago wants to get to that final game, and Johnson is obviously an offensive-minded coach. With that in mind, it's an important year for Swift and time for him to step it up.
Johnson believes he'll do just that. In fact, the head coach is giving Swift some major props going into the fresh season.
Speaking with the press on Thursday amid the team's joint practice, Johnson sang the praises of Swift.

After 20 seasons in the league, including nine with the Raptors and the final two and a half with the Sixers, Lowry hung up his sneakers with career averages of 13.8 points, 6.0 ***** ists, and 4.2 rebounds. He was a 6-time All-Star and led Toronto to a championship, alongside current Sixers coach Nick Nurse, in 2019, and is considered the greatest Raptor of all time.
Lowry's greatest contributions to the Sixers were his mentorship to young players like Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe. He was nearing the end of his brilliant career by then and wanted to pass down his knowledge to those youngsters to help them take steps forward in his career.
