A spot in the 2026 CONMEBOL Sudamericana semifinals is on the line! This Tuesday (15), at 9:30 p.m., at MorumBIS, Tricolor will host Boca Juniors (ARG) in the decisive second leg of the quarterfinals.
After suffering a 1-0 defeat in the first leg at La Bombonera, São Paulo need to win by two goals to advance to the next round. A one-goal victory will send the decision to penalties.
"The expectation is huge because it's a cup match and MorumBIS will be packed. We've prepared well and we'll go in search of qualification with the support of our fans," said forward Artur, who added.
"Big matches are decided in the details. Now we have our fans, our stadium, and that will certainly help us a lot. We have to press from the start of the game. We're treating it as the match of the season," he added.
After the clash with the Argentinians, São Paulo will have another important commitment ahead. This time in the Brazilian Championship: they will face Internacional next Saturday (19), at 9 p.m., at MorumBIS, in the 28th round.

Nicole Kidman's younger daughter is still rarely seen in public, but the gaps between appearances are getting shorter.
The 59-year-old actor brought 15-year-old Faith Margaret to the U.S. Open in New York on Sept. 11, with the mother and daughter arriving at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center hand in hand before watching the men's semifinals.
Faith has generally maintained a lower public profile than her older sister Sunday Rose, who has already built a modeling résumé. That made the relaxed outing particularly noticeable as Faith walked beside her mother in a polka-dot maxi dress while Kidman traded her recent premiere gowns for jeans, sneakers and a pale blue shirt.
Faith has also joined Kidman at several public events over the past year, appeared with her in a beauty campaign and traveled with her to Australia earlier this month, although most of those appearances have remained tied to her mother's work.
Kidman and Faith attended Day 13 of the tournament at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Friday. E! News reported that the pair entered the venue holding hands before settling in for the men's semifinal action.

College football is unpredictable and delightful, which is why we live for what happens on Saturdays. And Week 2 absolutely delivered, from a stunner in Stillwater to an instant classic in Austin.
Each Sunday, I'll publish my biggest takeaways from the college football weekend. I'll highlight the most interesting storylines, track College Football Playoff contenders and specifically shout out individual and team performances that deserve the spotlight.
He beat one of college football's bluest bluebloods. I know he took the Longhorns to the semifinals of the College Football Playoff in back-to-back seasons, but we live in a what-have-you-done-for-me-lately world. And lately, Texas had been overhyped and under-delivering — with three losses to Georgia since joining the SEC, and two losses to Ohio State (in the CFP and last year's season-opener). After starting last year as the preseason No. 1 team, Texas didn't even make the CFP.
But Saturday was different, even after a first half that felt all too familiar. Arch Manning delivered with the game on the line. Hollywood Smothers showed the value of adding the transfer portal's best available running back. And Sarkisian got the kind of win that helps a head coach sleep at night. The kind of win that gives a team a nice cushion heading into conference play, knowing that its CFP resume has a pretty shiny centerpiece.
One note: Sark might want to work on his postgame interview etiquette.

Frances Tiafoe and Ben Shelton faced off in the U.S. Open semifinals aiming to end a long drought for American men in Grand Slam tournaments, with Shelton winning in four sets. Andy Roddick was the last U.S. man to win a major — in 2003. Since then European players have dominated. Juan Martín del Potro, the last non-European champion, believes American tennis has the potential to break this pattern. Del Potro is now an ******* yst for ESPN Latin America and has shared insights on his career and offered advice to Carlos Alcaraz on managing injuries. Del Potro retired in 2022 after multiple surgeries.
Ninety Grand Slam tournaments have passed since Andy Roddick defeated Juan Carlos Ferrero in the 2003 final at Flushing Meadows. Since then, no other U.S. male player has managed to win the U.S. Open on home soil or any of the other three majors.

Apart from Argentina's Juan Martín del Potro at the 2009 U.S. Open and his compatriot Gastón Gaudio at the 2004 French Open, every champion across the world's four major tournaments has been European.
On Friday night, Ben Shelton won in four sets the all-American U.S. Open semifinal with Frances Tiafoe and now will attempt to end the long wait for another men's Grand Slam champion from the United States. Shelton will play Alexander Zverev in the final.

Surely that was closer than most would have liked.
Team USA will play for a fifth consecutive World Cup gold medal after escaping Spain, 76-66, in the semifinals on Saturday. They are now 6-0 all-time against Spain at the World Cup. The win secured a rematch against France, which defeated home country Germany, 86-64, earlier in the day.
The U.S. trailed by as many as eight early in the semifinal, but pulled out a win with an 18-8 fourth quarter led by veteran Breanna Stewart. Stewart will play in her fourth gold medal game, with the chance at a second World Cup MVP. She would become the first two-time winner of the award.
Here's what stood out from another close call (is the world coming, or is it already here?) and a lookahead to an enticing redo against France on Sunday (2 p.m. ET).
The USA needed someone to step up in another offensive slog. That nod went to Stewart, playing in her record-tying fourth World Cup and making it clear this is her team. A fourth gold medal would tie Diana Taurasi and Sue Bird, and add to a trophy case that includes four NCAA championships, three WNBA championships and three Olympic golds.

BERLIN (AP) — The U.S. women are in a familiar spot — playing for another FIBA World Cup championship.
Getting to a fifth consecutive ******* le game was a little harder then the previous few as they beat Spain 76-66 on Saturday in the semifinals. The Americans had averaged winning the previous four semifinals by 26 points, including a 40-point rout of Canada in 2022.
The Americans will face France in a rematch of the 2024 Paris Olympic gold-medal game that the U.S. won by a point.
"I think it's two great teams going to go head-to-head," said Kahleah Copper, who had 13 points in the win against Spain. "You know I'm excited for the matchup. I'm excited for us to be able to compete."
The U.S. has won 35 straight games in the World Cup going back to a loss to Russia in the semifinals in 2006. Now the Americans are one win away from a fifth consecutive tournament ******* le. That would match the former Soviet Union for the most consecutive championships.

Update morning 9/12: Ben Shelton outlasted fellow American Frances Tiafoe in the all-American semifinal to set up a dramatic men's final vs. top-seeded German Alexander Zverev on Sunday afternoon. Zverev has had quite an easy draw to the final, and he'll be the favorite to win his second major this year. Shelton's big serve will test him, and it will be on Shelton to hit competitive backhands to match strokes with Zverev, who also won the French Open. Meanwhile, the women's final between No. 1 seed Aryna Sabalenka vs. No. 2 seed Elena Rybakina should be a banger, and that kicks off in just a few hours.
Update late night 9/10: It will be No. 1 seed Aryna Sabalenka vs. No. 2 seed Elena Rybakina for the women's ****** le at the 2026 US Open on Saturday afternoon. The men take the spotlight on Friday with an all-American semifinal between Ben Shelton and Frances Tiafoe, plus No. 1 seed Alexander Zverev vs. unseeded Karen Khachanov.
The 2026 US Open is down to the Final Four, and both the men's and women's draws have produced some fantastic matchups. It's been 23 years since an American man won a tennis Grand Slam, but there are two U.S. natives facing off against each other in the semifinals — on the 25th anniversary of 9/11, no less. The women's draw went straight chalk with the top four seeds advancing to the semis, promising to bring fans the highest level of tennis possible.
The women's semifinals both take place on Thursday, September 10. Top-seeded masher Aryna Sabalenka takes on American No. 3 seed Jessica Pegula to open play at 7 p.m. ET at Arthur Ashe. Sabalenka looked to be on the brink of a meltdown in the quarterfinals against Wimbledon champ Linda Nosková, but she dug deep to win the match and stay alive. Sabalenka is the biggest hitter on tour, but she's been in a slump in 2026 without a major championship. She has already lost her world No. 1 ranking after the tournament, but she won't care if she can win her fifth major and third straight US Open ****** le. The 32-year-old Pegula is enjoying a late career peak, and she's still chasing her first Grand Slam. Pegula's steady nature could be an advantage against the more emotional Sabalenka.
Elena Rybakina faces American Coco Gauff in the night cap. Rybakina is the No. 2 seed in this tournament, but she will surpass Sabalenka for the world No. 1 ranking when it's over regardless of what happens. At 27, Rybakina is the second-oldest woman to ever ascend to world No. 1 in the rankings for the first time. Gauff will be the fan favorite. She was not at her top level in her quarterfinal victory over Mirra Andreeva, but she still got the job done to advance. Gauff beat Sabalenka in the 2023 US Open final and the 2025 French Open final. She's seeking her third major at age-22.

Ben Shelton has an older sister, Emma Shelton
She was a highly ranked tennis player in college at the University of Florida, where their father still works as the head coach
During the 2025 Wimbledon Championships, Ben jokingly asked the crowd to help Emma get more time off work so she could keep watching him play
Ben Shelton can count on his family's support as he advances in the US Open semifinals on Sept. 11 — including that of his older sister, Emma Shelton.
Like her pro athlete younger brother, Emma played tennis. She rose through the ranks on the women's tennis teams for the University of South Carolina and the University of Florida, where their dad, former professional tennis player Bryan Shelton, has worked as the men's tennis head coach.

After four big wins in the quarterfinals, the United States, France, Spain, and Germany all earned their spots in the semifinals. Saturday's two matchups will be intense. Each team left in the competition can find its way to the finals. Let's take a look at the two semifinal games.
France has been putting up insane statistics during this tournament. Between breaking the single-game three-point record and heavily outscoring their opponents, it is safe to say they are the team to beat. However, this semifinal clash against Germany, who have home-court advantage, will be their biggest test of the tournament.
The good news for France is their depth. There are many strong players who have been coming off the bench and making an impact. One of those players is none other than Marine Johannès. Johannès ranks eighth in the tournament in points scored per game with 16.5. She is currently leading the tournament with 16 three-pointers made so far. Once again, Johannès is not starting in games and making a strong impact each time.

Meanwhile, starter Gabby Williams has been playing some of her best basketball in the World Cup. If she continues this strong play, France has a strong chance to make it into the finals.

Alexander Zverev is enjoying a historic 2026 season, having won his maiden Grand Slam ****** le at Roland-Garros and recently reaching the US Open semifinals. The German top seed showed no signs of fatigue as he reached all four Grand Slam semifinals in a single season for the first time in his career.
Zverev will now face Russia's Karen Khachanov, who advanced to the semifinals after Alexander Blockx retired while trailing 6-2, 7-5, 3-2. As the two will battle for a place in the final, let's take a look at their biggest support system: their family, including their kids.
Zverev has kept his personal life, especially his kids, largely private. He welcomed his daughter, Mayla, in March 2021 with his former girlfriend, Brenda Patea. Following an out-of-court settlement in 2024 that ended their highly publicized legal dispute regarding domestic abuse, the two now share joint custody and focus on co-parenting.
Despite his fame, Zverev makes a conscious effort to keep Mayla away from the public eye. "I want her to be a normal child, growing up with a normal life," Zverev said of his approach. "I try to keep her out of social media, all the Instagrammie stuff."

NEW YORK (AP) — Ninety Grand Slam tournaments have passed since Andy Roddick defeated Juan Carlos Ferrero in the 2003 final at Flushing Meadows.
Frances Tiafoe or Ben Shelton — who face off in the U.S. Open semifinals on Friday night — could end this drought for American men.
"You know the history; it was the era of the 'Big Three' (Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic) — something unmatched," Del Potro told reporters. "But American tennis has the potential to break this pattern. There are so many good players now with the potential to be Grand Slam champions, and I sincerely believe Tiafoe or Shelton can do it."
As the last Grand Slam champion born outside of Europe, Del Potro takes pride in walking the grounds of the U.S. Open.

Throughout almost the entirety of his professional tennis career, Frances Tiafoe has had the support of his girlfriend, Ayan Broomfield, whom he has been dating since 2015. On September 11, he'll play in the Semifinals of the US Open for the third time as he seeks his first Grand Slam tournament win.
Broomfield has been in the stands cheering Tiafoe on throughout the tournament. He previously gushed over her support in an interview with ATP earlier this year, telling the outlet, "She's been critical not only for my career, but for my life. She's so solid. She's been there for me for so many years, and happy to have her, very important."
Below, we rounded up everything to know about Broomfield and her relationship with the tennis star.
Broomfield is a content creator and fashion influencer. In 2024, she created the Ayan Broomfield Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides tennis athleticwear and equipment to underprivileged youth.
In 2014 and 2015, Broomfield played professional tennis. She competed in singles, as well as doubles with her partner, Maria Patrascu. The women peaked at No. 467 in world doubles rankings.

Team USA opened the knockout round and made World Cup history. Yet, its job in Berlin remains unfinished.
The Americans are one of the last four teams standing with a ticket to Sunday's gold-medal game now on the line.
Team USA faces Spain in Saturday's World Cup semifinals (2 p.m. ET) for a chance to advance to one last game. France and Germany face off in the other semifinal (10:30 a.m. ET). The two winners will move on to the gold medal game, while the two losers will play for third place.
The United States has advanced to the gold-medal game in each of the last four World Cups, winning it all each time. The last time the U.S. failed to make the gold-medal game was in 2006, when it defeated Brazil for bronze.

After five rounds of high-octane tennis, we have an all-American showdown in the semifinals, as the No. 1 American men's player Ben Shelton takes on a three-time US Open semifinalist in Frances Tiafoe.
The excitement for this match in New York is so high that, despite playing their quarterfinal matches a day earlier than the other half of the draw, the tournament has scheduled their match for the primetime night session slot, with a fully packed crowd expected for a match that, before even a ball is hit, has already secured an American player in the final this year.
And we here at LWOT will be bringing you an in-depth preview of what to expect in one of the biggest matches for American men's tennis this decade.
Despite making it this far in the tournament, it has been far from an easy road to the semifinals for both players. Frances Tiafoe has had to battle through two five-set matches, the second of which came in the quarterfinals against Alex Michelsen, in which Tiafoe had to come back from two sets to love. But in between all this, the American has played some inspired tennis again this tournament, the highlight of which was the efficient straight-sets win over the 2021 US Open champion Daniil Medvedev.

Former First Lady Michelle Obama brought striped style to the 2026 U.S. Open women's singles semifinals on Thursday night at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City.

Obama sported a red, white and dark-striped dress for the Grand Slam tennis tournament. The quasi-patriotic palette got contemporary edge from faded lines running through the red and dark navy stripes, which shifted between vertical and horizontal directions.

The women's side of the US Open nearly had an all-American final, with the semifinals featuring Aryna Sabalenka vs. American Jessica Pegula and Elena Rybakina vs. American Coco Gauff. Unfortunately for the Stars and Stripes, when Thursday night ended, neither Pegula nor Gauff had advanced, with Pegula losing in straight sets and Gauff falling in three.
One of the attendees in Arthur Ashe Stadium on Thursday night was former First Lady Michelle Obama. As dissapointing as Thursday's results may have been for the former White House resident, Obama still sent a message of support at the conclusion of the matches.
"Big hugs to CocoGauff!!! She's a joy to watch. Always proud. Go USA Tennis!!" Obama posted on X.
As positive as Obama's message was, many fans on social media took exception to Obama not also addressing Pegula's performance, and questioned if there were racial motivations behind Obama's decision.
"Why do you only show up & root for black athletes?!? Racist much?" one fan posted on X.

WILTON - The Wilton football team knew this season would require a fast start with one of the more daunting schedules in the state, especially late in the year. The team felt it needed a victory on opening night against Norwalk, another FCIAC team with CIAC playoff hopes, and that is just what the Warriors got.
Wilton had to hold on down the stretch but ultimately took care of business, beating Norwalk 35-21 at Fujitani Field behind three touchdown passes from Colton Smith and three touchdowns from senior running back Dennis Dustin.
"If I was ever to say the first game of the year is a must-win, this was one," Wilton coach EJ DiNunzio said. "The schedule is a beast with Southington and all the other ones. We needed this win and we knew we needed it."
DiNunzio feels this is the toughest schedule he has seen in his time at Wilton, which was 10-2 and reached the Class MM semifinals last season, losing 21-20 to Bunnell. There are seven playoff teams from last season on the slate, including 2025 state champions Berlin (Class M), Greenwich (Class LL) and New Canaan (Class L), and Class LL runner-up Southington.
Wilton's final five games are all against playoff teams.

Current WTA World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka did not need any more incentive to play well in the 2026 US Open semifinals. She is losing her ranking next week to Elena Rybakina and chasing a three-peat at this year's US Open.
Jessica Pegula seemed a bit off her game, despite going toe-to-toe with Sabalenka in the first set. Her demeanor was a bit flat, perhaps this was her game face. Little separated the two in the first set, but Sabalenka the excellent front runner ran away with it in the second set.

Some social media tennis fans speculated that Pegula was under the weather.
It was not what fans are used to seeing in her demeanor.

Aryna Sabalenka is hitting the court once again in the Semifinals of the US Open on September 10. She's the No. 1 seed in women's singles, but she doesn't have an easy road ahead of her, as she'll have to beat No. 3 Jessica Pegula, an American playing with home-court advantage, to make the Finals.
Throughout the tournament, Sabalenka has had the support of her fiancé, Georgios Frangulis, who has been proudly watching from the stands. Below, we rounded up everything to know about Frangulis and his relationship with the Belarusian tennis star. Scroll down for more.
Frangulis is a Brazilian entrepreneur who founded the company Oakberry in 2016. Although he studied law in Brazil, he never completed his degree or took the bar exam.
Oakberry is a brand that specializes in açaí products. Açaí berries are harvested in the Amazon rainforest, the majority of which is located in Frangulis' home country of Brazil. Oakberry, which sells açaí bowls, smoothies, and more, has hundreds of stores in dozens of countries.
In August 2016, right before Oakberry was launching, Frangulis was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. He had surgery to remove a four-centimeter nodule that October.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Lucas Carneiro kicked a 48-yard field goal as time expired to give ninth-ranked Mississippi a 41-38 victory over No. 24 Louisville on Sunday night in the Music City Kickoff.
The week's only game between ranked teams started sloppy only to turn into a second-half thriller.
Lincoln Kienholz, in his first career start after three seasons on Ohio State's bench, tied it for Louisville at 38 with 1:28 left. The quarterback found Lawayne McCoy on the sideline for a 54-yard catch-and-run TD with 4:42 to go before his 7-yard TD run with 1:28 left.
Trinidad Chambliss set up the winning field goal with an 18-yard pass on third-and-6. Chambliss finished with 351 yards passing with three touchdowns, and he also ran for a fourth score all after halftime. Kewan Lacy ran for 61 yards on 17 carries with a 1-yard TD before being sidelined by an injured thigh.
Maybe it was a bit of opening night nerves or starting with a ranked, Power Four opponent. Both Ole Miss, who ended last season losing to Miami in the College Football Playoff semifinals, and Louisville had issues in the first half.
