Trevoh Chalobah ended his near 20-year ****** ociation with Chelsea by joining Como 1907 this summer, but his journey through his boyhood club taught him one thing above all - resilience.
You only need to look at the England defender's career to see how the 27-year-old managed to fulfill his dream of playing for Chelsea while also overcoming plenty of setbacks.
He went from crying in the car because he did not feel good enough while playing alongside Mason Mount and Declan Rice during his childhood at the Cobham academy, to being left out of first-team training as a member of the so-called "bomb squad" under former boss Enzo Maresca in 2024, before being made available for transfer and sent out on loan.
Each time, Chalobah bounced back to become a regular starter for Chelsea.
He was recalled from a loan spell at Crystal Palace in January 2025 and ultimately made 151 appearances for the Blues before completing a £31m move to Italy to join Serie A side Como under manager Cesc Fabregas last week.

Arsenal are monitoring Como defender Jacobo Ramon, according to The Athletic. Mikel Arteta would like the Gunners to strengthen at the back with William Saliba and Jurrien Timber both currently injured. Ramon is on **** nal's shortlist, and the fans will get to see him in action at the Emirates Stadium tomorrow (Wednesday). The North Londoners take on Como in their last pre-season friendly before Sunday's Community Shield against Manchester City.
Ramon will be featuring in the game, giving **** nal another chance to run the rule over him before they make a final decision. Como have recently signed Trevoh Chalobah from Chelsea and could be open to selling the Gunners target for the right price. The 21-year-old Spaniard joined the Serie A club from Real Madrid last summer, making 37 appearances across all competitions. The 6ft 5in Ramon is an aerial threat and is comfortable in possession, qualities Arteta desires in his defenders as he eyes physically strong options in the position.
The Como defender won the Super Cup with Madrid in 2024, winning the European Under-19 Championship with Spain the same year. The chance to join a club regularly competing and winning major silverware could appeal to Ramon.

Italian club Como have signed defender Trevoh Chalobah from Chelsea in a deal worth more than £30m.
The 27-year-old has signed a five-year contract with Cesc Fabregas' side, who secured Champions League qualification by finishing fourth in Serie A last season.
Chelsea will receive an initial £25.7m, with a further £5.1m available in add-ons following protracted negotiations.
The centre-back, who has two senior England caps and was a late call-up to their World Cup squad, leaves his boyhood team after nearly 20 years, having joined Chelsea as a child.
"Trevoh is an important signing for us and a player who represents the level of ambition we have at this club," said Fabregas, who was briefly a team-mate of the centre-back during his time at Stamford Bridge.

Como have officially signed Trevoh Chalobah from Chelsea for a reported fee of €30m plus add-ons. 'It's an ambitious, rising project, and working with manager Cesc Fabregas again is truly special.'
The negotiations had been dragging on for quite a few weeks, including a period where Como backed out in a pact of non-aggression with Inter.
However, when the Nerazzurri decided the asking price of €30m plus add-ons was too steep, they walked away from the table and left it to Como.

Chelsea travels to Indonesia for another pre-season friendly as they face AC Milan on Saturday at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium.
Date: Saturday, 8th August.
Kick-off: 1pm BST.
Venue: Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, Jakarta, Indonesia.
Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso faces significant selection dilemmas ahead of the friendly in Jakarta, primarily driven by a heavily depleted squad following the World Cup. A large contingent of first-team regulars—including Enzo Fernández, Reece James, Malo Gusto, Jordan Henderson, Maxence Lacroix, Morgan Rogers, and Valentín Barco—remain entirely unavailable as they build up fitness. On a positive note, Cole Palmer and Levi Colwill are expected to return to action after being rested against Juventus due to minor knocks. Mykhailo Mudryk is also in line for increased minutes, building on his brief substitute appearance which marked his return to football after a 20-month anti-doping suspension. Meanwhile, Trevoh Chalobah has been left out of the touring squad entirely as he edges closer to a permanent transfer away from Stamford Bridge. This leaves room for new signings like Danny Welbeck and young winger Geovany Quenda to push for starting roles.

Crystal Palace are making a move for Axel Disasi, who could join on a loan with an option to buy according to French media.
If you enjoy Talk Chelsea coverage and want to see more of it, add us as a preferred source on Google to make us a favourite and see more of our content.
Earlier today we were writing about Chelsea's situation defensively. With Maxence Lacroix now signed, there are ten central defenders on the books. The Blues need to get moving, and the good news is that things could move pretty fast now.
With five of them likely to stick around in Xabi Alonso's squad and two potentially going on loan, three are left to be sold. Trevoh Chalobah is on the verge of joining Como, leaving Benoit Badiashile and Axel Disasi as the most likely to make permanent moves away.

Chelsea will kick off their pre-season schedule on Tuesday with a clash against Australia's Western Sydney Wanderers at the Accor Stadium.
This match signals the start of a new chapter for the club, as Xabi Alonso officially takes charge as head coach. The Blues are effectively starting from scratch after a disappointing 2025/26 Premier League campaign, which saw them finish 10th. With no pre-season matches played so far, Chelsea head into this fixture short on match fitness and overall rhythm, making their Australian opener a challenging starting point.
The squad travelling to Australia is far from full strength, with several important players unavailable.
A number of key names are still recovering after international duty, including Reece James, Trevoh Chalobah, Pedro Neto, and Enzo Fernández, all of whom featured in the latter stages of the World Cup.
In addition, summer signings Emmanuel Emegha and Geovany Quenda have remained in London as they deal with minor injury concerns.

Como remain firmly in the race for Trevoh Chalobah, with fresh talks scheduled with Chelsea on Saturday 25 July as the clubs attempt to reach a final agreement over the defender's future. According to Sky Italia, discussions are ongoing and the key issue continues to centre on the structure of the fee.
The broad outline of the negotiations is clear. Chelsea want £30m guaranteed to sanction Chalobah's departure, while Como are currently holding at around £25m, with a preference for part of the package to be tied to appearances and performance-related objectives. That gap is not vast, but it remains significant enough to prevent an immediate conclusion.
Como's recruitment drive has included a strong focus on adding quality at centre-back, with the club looking to provide Cesc Fabregas with a proven option in defence. Chalobah has emerged as the leading target, and this latest round of discussions suggests the Serie A side are serious about seeing the move through.
Photo IMAGO
From Chelsea's perspective, the stance is understandable. Chalobah is coming off a productive campaign in which he made 34 Premier League appearances and scored three goals, while also featuring eight times in the Champions League. Those numbers reflect both availability and trust, two attributes that naturally strengthen his market value.

Italian side Como have submitted an improved formal offer to Chelsea for versatile defender Trevoh Chalobah, with direct negotiations ongoing to finalise an agreement. Xabi Alonso is at Stamford Bridge.
The ambitious Serie A club have structured a new proposal worth a guaranteed €25 million, plus €5m in performance-related add-ons. Crucially, the add-ons are understood to be highly attainable, effectively ensuring the total fee reaches €30 million to satisfy Chelsea’s valuation.
This move follows an earlier opening bid from Como that fell short of Chelsea’s expectations. While the Blues hierarchy initially held out for a premium fee for their academy graduate, this upgraded, nearly guaranteed arrangement has significantly narrowed the valuation gap between the two clubs.
From the player’s perspective, Chalobah is said to be very keen on a move to Lombardy. The 27-year-old English defender is attracted by the sporting project under manager Cesc Fabregas, where he would be guaranteed a central role in the defence. Having spent recent seasons on the fringes at Chelsea, Chalobah sees a move to Italy as the ideal opportunity to re-establish himself as a regular starter.
Negotiations between Chelsea and Como remain active as the two clubs work to finalise the details of a deal. With personal terms not expected to pose any obstacle, given the player’s eagerness to join Fabregas’ side, momentum is building toward a swift resolution in the coming days.

Lacroix also helped France to theWorld Cup semi-finals this summer and has won seven senior caps since his international debut earlier this year.
According toSky Sports, Chelsea offered Palace the chance to take Axel Disasi, Benoit Badiashile or former loanee Trevoh Chalobah as part of the package.

Chelsea have hit a snag in their efforts to offload Trevoh Chalobah this summer.
According to Alfredo Pedulla, the Blues have reached out to Como to revive negotiations for the England international, but reaching an agreement will be difficult.
The 27-year-old is also attracting interest from Serie A champions Inter Milan.
However, Chelsea have been forced to explore other options after the Italian giants temporarily paused their interest in Chalobah.
At the moment, Inter and Como are the clubs mostly interested in Chalobah, meaning the Englishman is more than likely to end up in Italy this summer.

Inter Milan are pursuing Bologna centre-back Jhon Lucumí and have proposed Ebenezer Akinsanmiro as a makeweight in a potential deal, with a €28 million release clause set to expire on 15 July concentrating minds on both sides.
According to TuttoMercatoWeb, citing Corriere dello Sport, the Nerazzurri have already made preliminary enquiries at Bologna and are now ******* sing whether to structure an offer around the young Nigerian midfielder alongside a cash component.
Lucumí, contracted to Bologna until 2027, is left-footed and primarily operates on the left of a back four – not the right-sided profile Chivu has prioritised. However, the Colombian international's pace and comfort with a high defensive line are seen as directly compatible with how Chivu wants to set up, and his established Serie A record eliminates any adaptation risk.
The €28 million release clause expires on 15 July. After that date, Inter believe a figure in the region of €20 million – supplemented by Akinsanmiro as a technical counterpart – could be sufficient to open a serious negotiation with Bologna sporting director Sartori, with Akinsanmiro among the profiles understood to appeal to him.
Trevoh Chalobah remains the Nerazzurri's primary defensive target, as covered in Inter's centre-back pursuit, but Chelsea's insistence on at least €35 million has stalled progress. Lucumí represents a more accessible alternative at a meaningful discount.

Reports are growing that Como will improve their opening €20m offer for Galatasaray and Colombia international defender Davinson Sanchez.
There had already been Italian suggestions that the Lariani had turned towards the experienced centre-back, who turns 31 this weekend, after backing off Chelsea man Trevoh Chalobah.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Como have already made an opening proposal to Galatasaray worth a total of around €20m including add-ons.
That might not be sufficient, as the Turkish side is holding out for closer to €25-30m, especially after his impressive 2026 World Cup campaign with Colombia.

It’s not all about the World Cup—there have also been other news stories worth highlighting.
In a recent interview, the Real Sociedad captain admitted that he has no intention of leaving the club of his life, despite rumors linking him with Barcelona.
Following Nagelsmann’s departure, Germany is looking for a new national team manager, and the leadership of the German Football Federation is already heading to the United States to speak in person with Jürgen Klopp, who, for now, would be willing to listen to the proposal.
At this point, there is little doubt that Bayern’s French star will continue wearing the Bavarian club’s colors, but if there were any remaining doubts, Upamecano made sure to put them to rest.
Despite the World Cup, the transfer market never stops, and the latest name on the table is Trevoh Chalobah, who is being linked with a move to strengthen Como’s squad.

Trevoh Chalobah’s agents are in Italy to hold talks with Inter and Como, but the latest updates point towards the Nerazzurri having the advantage in the race to land the England international from Chelsea. Here’s why.
Inter have already crossed paths with both Chelsea and Como this summer: The West Londoners beat the Nerazzurri to the signing of Italy talent Marco Palestra in June, and though Cristian Chivu’s side had considered reinvesting the funds they had set aside for the right-back on Nico Paz instead, the Argentine has re-committed to Como, at least for the 2026-27 season.
The three clubs are again connected by centre-back Chalobah, who is reportedly of interest to both Como and Inter this summer, both on the lookout for defensive reinforcements ahead of their respective Champions League campaigns in 2026-27.
According to reports from Alfredo Pedullà, Como have already held discussions with Chelsea over the potential signing of Chalobah, whilst the Corriere dello Sport claims that an offer of €30m including bonuses has been turned down. Inter and Como are both aware of the fact that Chelsea are seeking a package of €35m with at least €30m in guaranteed fees.
Various reports suggest that Como are unlikely to satisfy those demands in the near future, especially after spending €60m on the re-signing of Nico Paz. A further €14m has gone on the signing of Kaiki and Cesc Fabregas is hoping to strengthen in several other areas of the pitch, which makes Chalobah start to look a touch on the expensive side.

Axel Tuanzebe has urged more English-raised footballers to represent their countries of origin to raise the level of African football.
Tuanzebe was part of the DR Congo side eliminated byEngland in the 2026 World Cup last 32 on Wednesday evening. The 28-year-old was born in DR Congo but relocated to England at a young age.
The centre-back represented England at youth level, before pledging his international allegiance to his birth country in 2024. This summer, he has formed part of a DR Congo side that has reached theWorld Cup knockout rounds for the first time.
He urged other English-raised footballers to consider representing African nations at international level.
England internationals Marc Guehi (Ivory Coast) and Trevoh Chalobah (Sierre Leone) with were both born in Africa, while teammates Bukayo Saka, Eberechi Eze, Noni Madueke, Ezri Konsa and Kobbie Mainoo were all eligible to represent African nations alongside the Three Lions.

England face a pivotal moment in their World Cup campaign on Wednesday as they enter the last-32 knockout stage against the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The clash marks the beginning of a high-stakes, all-or-nothing phase for the squad, with the path to glory now a five-game sprint over less than three weeks, and here are five key talking points ahead of Wednesday's match...
Thomas Tuchel has a significant selection headache at right-back. With Reece James sidelined by a hamstring injury and his replacement against Panama, Jarell Quansah, also doubtful due to an ankle problem, options are scarce.
Tuchel is left to choose between Djed Spence, typically a left-back, and Aston Villa's Ezri Konsa, a natural centre-back who could get the nod.
This predicament casts a spotlight on Tuchel's earlier decisions to omit Trent Alexander-Arnold and replace the injured Tino Livramento with another central defender, Trevoh Chalobah.

England defender Tino Livramento has undergone surgery after being forced to withdraw from the World Cup squad, his club Newcastle United has confirmed.
The full-back sustained a calf injury just days before England's opening match of the summer tournament against Croatia.
Livramento was subsequently replaced in the squad by Chelsea's Trevoh Chalobah and returned to Newcastle for treatment. The Magpies provided an update on his condition on Tuesday.
A statement from the club read: "Newcastle United can confirm that Tino Livramento has successfully undergone a minor surgical procedure. The defender, who returned from World Cup duty with an injury, is expected to return during pre-season."
The 23-year-old had only recently made a comeback, featuring as a substitute in England's friendly against New Zealand on June 6, after missing the conclusion of Newcastle's 2025-26 campaign due to a thigh injury.

According to multiple reports, Como 1907 have followed up their supposed interest in Trevoh Chalobah with an actual offer, but that offer falls short of Chelsea’s valuation for our defender.
The Serie A hotshots have submitted a £22m bid, but presumably that got rejected as Chelsea are said to want £30m, plus another £5m in potentaial add-ons.. That’s not a big difference in absolute terms, but considering that this is already more than Como have ever spent on a player*, it may yet prove a fairly significant hurdle.
*Prior to this summer, Como’s record transfer was the €22.5m they spent on Jesús Rodríguez. Technically, that’s still the case, though the deal they have agreed with Real Madrid for Nico Paz this week will cost them, once all the various buybacks and whatnot are tabulated, a reported €60m.
In any case, it’s not quite clear how Como could ever afford to spend this much and still stay onside of FFP/PSR rules, but I guess that’s not something we need to worry about. What we do need to worry about is if they can scrape together £8m more, Chalobah could be on his way.
And that would be quite the shame, considering the 26-year-old Academy graduate’s career path, and his repeated ability to convince Chelsea coaches and directors of his worth (at least on the pitch). He’s been steady and reliable, even through multiple loans and an untold amount of coaching changes. He made 47 appearances for us in all competitions last season, and was basically the only consistent and consistently available center back option.

Inter have joined Como in tracking Chelsea and England defender Trevoh Chalobah, because negotiations with Udinese for Oumar Solet have stalled.
The Nerazzurri's summer has so far been one of bitter disappointment, as they keep being priced out of players following weeks or even months of confident negotiations.
They lost Marco Palestra to Chelsea, look to be backing away from Liverpool's Curtis Jones, and now Solet is increasingly unlikely to arrive.

Chelsea are aiming to rebuild their defensive line under new manager Xabi Alonso this summer.
The Blues want to add at least one central defender to their squad - amid interest in Trevoh Chalobah from Serie A club Como - and Crystal Palace's Maxence Lacroix is emerging as a key target.
Another option being considered by Chelsea is 21-year-old Como centre-back Jacobo Ramon.
Ramon is also still linked to former club Real Madrid through various clauses, while the Spanish giants have made Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez, valued by the Blues at £120m, one of their key targets this summer.
Chelsea have already sold Marc Cucurella to Real Madrid for £51.8m, and are set to complete the signing of Atalanta defender Marco Palestra for a fee in excess of £43m.

Chelsea have opened talks to sign Crystal Palace centre-back Maxence Lacroix, according to Fabrizio Romano. He is also open to joining the Stamford Bridge club.
The Blues are expected to strengthen at the heart of their defence this summer after an inconsistent campaign in which injuries and underwhelming performances exposed the rearguard.
Lacroix has emerged as one of the club’s leading targets following an impressive season in the Premier League.
Chelsea’s backline struggled whenever Levi Colwill was unavailable.
Trevoh Chalobah, Tosin Adarabioyo, Benoit Badiashile, Wesley Fofana and Mamadou Sarr all failed to establish themselves as dependable options over the course of the season.

Chelsea are not done in Italy after hijacking a deal to sign Marco Palesta. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Blues also appreciate Como’s Jacobo Ramon.
Chelsea and the Italian club are talking as they asked about Trevoh Chalobah, who was too expensive for them. The West Londoners then asked about Ramon in return.
Ramon has caught the eye of top clubs around Europe, like Chelsea, after helping the Italian club qualify for Europe for the first time.
The 21-year-old won 67 percent of his aerial and 53% of his ground duels in 32 Serie A appearances, earning plaudits for his ability to star in a back three or four.
He helped keep 14 clean sheets.

Newcastle United defender Tino Livramento is a major doubt for England's World Cup campaign, with Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah poised to replace the full-back.
Livramento, 23, is understood to have sustained an injury during a training session on Sunday before England's World Cup opener against Croatia on Wednesday night (21:00 BST).
While the Football ***** ociation is not commenting on the extent of Livramento's injury, it is understood there are fears he could be out of action for up to four weeks.
Livramento's involvement in the tournament had already been in doubt after he missed the final five weeks of the season with a thigh injury.
If, as is now expected, Livramento is ruled out of the tournament, Chelsea defender Chalobah is set to replace him - though he will not join up with the squad until after the Croatia match.
