Timing is everything in the Coach of the Year Award and the betting market reflects that, but there are seismic shifts, and surprises, each season. The head coach tends to get credit for things that happen under his watch even if he had little to do with it — like Drake Maye's development under offensive coordinator Josh McDaniel, making it possible that someone down the oddsboard takes it.
The Jaguars went from four wins to four losses, but that wasn't quite as impressive as the Patriots going from 4-13 to 14-3.
Most seasons, Dave Canales taking the Panthers to a NFC South ***** le would have been enough to get him this personal consolation prize.
Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2026 NFL season
If the vote happens after the Super Bowl, Mike Macdonald definitely takes it, winning the championship with a team predicted to finish last in the NFC West.

Liverpool are expected to step up their pursuit of Bradley Barcola this week, with fresh movement anticipated as the club weighs a bid that could challenge, or even surpass, their current transfer record. According to Nicolo Schira, an offer is imminent, a significant development in a chase that has been building for months.
Barcola has been on Liverpool's radar for some time, with recruitment staff identifying the Paris Saint-Germain winger as a major opportunity in the market. Interest has remained strong despite the complexity of dealing with PSG, who have shown little willingness to soften their stance. The French champions are understood to value the 23-year-old at an elite level, leaving suitors with only one realistic route, table a huge proposal.
That is where Liverpool now appear to be heading. There is an acceptance internally that a conventional offer will not shift PSG's position. If a breakthrough is to come, it will likely require a figure beyond anything Liverpool have previously committed for a wide attacker, and potentially above the £125m paid for Alexander Isak.
The timing is notable. Liverpool have several areas of the squad to address before the window closes, and that creates pressure around both budget and prioritisation. Bradley Barcola remains one of the standout names under consideration, while other attacking options continue to be monitored in parallel.
What stands out in this situation is Liverpool's willingness to keep pushing despite PSG's hard-line approach. That suggests belief in the player's quality, profile and long-term fit. Barcola offers pace, directness and top-level upside, qualities that are clearly being valued highly during this market cycle.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are determined to not be outdone by Prince William and Princess Kate, a source tells Star.
On Tuesday, August 11, the Mirror reported that the Princess of Wales, 44, is set to join her husband, also 44, in Mumbai, India for the 2026 Earthshot Prize ceremony in November.
"This India trip is bound to spark more competition because it's no secret Meghan has been pushing to do a big trip there with Harry," reveals the source. "The fact that William's decided to host the next Earthshot there and Kate's now planning to go with him is bound to touch a nerve with Meghan."
As is the timing.

A lip reader has decoded a tense exchange between Donald Trump and Melania Trump at the Freedom 250 Grand Prix in Washington, D.C. The couple attended the IndyCar event together, but cameras captured what appeared to be a strained conversation as Melania leaned in to whisper to the president before stepping back.
Professional lip reader Nicola Hickling ***** yzed the video and revealed that Melania whispered something to her husband before pulling back and saying, "That is private and valuable text." Trump then asked, "Was it enough?"
The exchange happened while Natalie Harp, the president's executive ***** istant, attended the same event. Harp has drawn heavy scrutiny in recent weeks over her unusually close relationship with Trump. Hickling claims Melania said, "I don't know," which prompted Trump to respond, "Then I need to see it." The first lady then reportedly told him, "Donald, listen, I'm gonna go."
According to Metro, Trump allegedly replied, "Listen, she asked you not to close the door." Melania asked why, and he said, "It's bad news, but it's bad timing, Melania." The first lady called the situation "crazy" before whispering in his ear again. Donald Trump appeared to say, "I've had enough of her." Melania then leaned in once more and, after pulling away, reportedly said, "Obviously I'll see and talk to her in the morning."
The tense moment followed Melania's month-long disappearance from public view. She returned to the White House on August 20, after 31 days away. Her absence coincided with mounting questions about Trump's working relationship with Harp.

Healthcare investors often face a difficult decision when choosing between companies with very different paths to growth. Some businesses are emerging from temporary industry slowdowns, while others continue compounding through durable competitive advantages.
Danaher Corporation (NYSE:DHR) and Intuitive Surgical (NASDAQ:ISRG) illustrate that contrast perfectly. Danaher (NYSE:DHR) is beginning to benefit from improving life sciences spending after several challenging years, whereas Intuitive Surgical (NASDAQ:ISRG) continues to expand one of the healthcare industry's strongest recurring revenue businesses through robotic surgery. Both companies reported encouraging results, but the question for investors is whether a cyclical recovery or a structural growth story offers the better long-term opportunity.
The strongest argument supporting Danaher is that its recovery appears to be broadening. Its Life Sciences business delivered its strongest performance in several years, and although bioprocessing revenue was affected by customer project timings, the underlying order trends remained strong, with bioprocessing orders growing mid-teens in the quarter. This shows that the underlying demand for bioprocessing remained solid, including consumables and equipment necessary to make biologic drugs.
Danaher Corporation (NYSE:DHR) also stated that a little over $100 million of revenue has shifted into next year, primarily from the second and third quarters. This suggests that customer demand has been delayed rather than cancelled, potentially supporting future revenue growth.
Intuitive Surgical (NASDAQ:ISRG), by contrast, continues to benefit from the strength of a business model that has consistently generated growth regardless of broader industry cycles. Intuitive Surgical's (NASDAQ:ISRG) business model remains one of its biggest competitive advantages. Approximately 85% of total revenue came from recurring sources during the quarter, providing investors with significant revenue visibility as the installed base continues to grow.

Healthcare investors are beginning to see signs of recovery across several parts of the industry, but not every recovery looks the same. Danaher (NYSE:DHR) is benefiting from improving demand in life sciences after a prolonged post-pandemic slowdown, while Medtronic (NYSE:MDT) is finally beginning to show the results of years of investment in new products and operational execution. Both companies reported encouraging results, but very different factors are driving their recoveries. The question for investors is which recovery story offers the greater long-term upside.
The strongest argument supporting Medtronic (NYSE:MDT) is that its turnaround is no longer being driven by cost controls alone. The company's latest results suggest its newer growth platforms are beginning to contribute meaningfully to revenue. The company reported its highest annual revenue growth in 10 years in its fiscal Q4 and full-year 2026 results. Q4 revenue reached $9.8 billion, up 9.9% as reported and 6.6% organic, and FY 26 revenue was $36.4 billion, with adjusted revenue of $36.3 billion, up 8.4% as reported and 5.8% organic. The trends suggest that the company is exhibiting continued operational rigor and building momentum in its highest growth opportunities, including Affera, Symplicity, Hugo, Altaviva, and Stealth AXiS.
Furthermore, Medtronic's (NYSE:MDT) cardiac segment is emerging as one of the most prominent growth drivers for the company, as the Cardiac Ablation Solutions revenue rose 78% globally, including 124% U.S. growth. That is significant for investors because cardiac devices remain one of the company's highest-margin and fastest-growing businesses.
Danaher's story, however, depends much more on improving customer spending across its Life Sciences business, which delivered its strongest performance in several years. Although bioprocessing revenue was affected by customer project timings, the underlying order trends remained strong, with bioprocessing orders growing mid-teens in the quarter. LOS ANGELES -- This was a much better contest than the one on Thursday.
Unfortunately for the Sparks, the result was the same.
Angel Reese seemed to grab the ball every time it was in the air. She would end the game with a record 26 rebounds and the Dream defeated the Sparks in a hard-fought match, 78-71.
The Sparks only outrebounded Reese by herself, 32-26, which sounds ridiculous.
"She's elite," Sparks coach Lynne Roberts said about Reese. "Did we miss her a couple times on the boards? Eight offensive rebounds is a ton. But I think she's the best in the world at it. I really do. I think she has a way of... her timing is good, she's strong, she's got great physicality, but she knows how to kind of lean to kind of get you out of position to where you can now jump and do it. She does a good job tipping it kind of to herself. She's good. Could we have done a better job? Certainly. But you also have to tip your hat to who I think is one of the best rebounders in the world."

Zoetis Inc. (NYSE:ZTS) entered 2026 as a leader in animal health, but its latest earnings show that even a strong market position cannot fully insulate the company from weaker consumer demand. Fiscal Q2 2026 revenue remained flat at $2.5 billion and declined 1% on an organic operational basis, as pressure in the U.S. companion-animal market offset growth in livestock and international markets.
The quarter therefore presents investors with two different versions of Zoetis (NYSE:ZTS), as an established companion-animal business facing near-term pressure and a diversified animal-health platform still investing in its next generation of products.
Zoetis's (NYSE:ZTS) diversification provided an important source of resilience during the quarter. Livestock revenue increased 12% on a reported basis, supported by cattle and poultry products. In the United States, livestock sales grew 23% on both a reported and organic operational basis in the quarter, benefiting from favorable beef-cattle economics, supply timing, and increased poultry-vaccine sales **** ociated with disease outbreaks.
International performance was also encouraging. Revenue outside the United States rose 8% on a reported basis and 6% organically to $1.2 billion. International companion-animal sales grew 5% organically, supported by parasiticides such as Simparica Trio, Revolution and Stronghold, as well as diagnostics and newer osteoarthritis treatments. This geographic contrast demonstrates that the weakness was not uniform across Zoetis's (NYSE:ZTS) business. Demand for its products remains healthy in several markets, even as U.S. pet owners become more price-sensitive.
However, innovation could provide another route back to growth, as Zoetis (NYSE:ZTS) says that its pipeline contains more than 12 potential blockbuster candidates across chronic kidney disease, oncology, cardiology, anxiety, and obesity. The company also launched Lenivia and Portela, long-acting osteoarthritis treatments offering dogs and cats up to three months of pain relief from one injection.

James Blunt is putting a stop to rumours that he was the "undressed" and "very famous" man Hayden Panettiere found herself in bed with on a yacht when she was 18 years old.
In her memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning, Panettiere described the man as a "famous thirty-something British singer-songwriter", to whom she was "delivered".
On Monday, the You're Beautiful singer shared to X a link to a Substack article by journalist Dean Piper which seeks to debunk the speculation that Blunt is the unnamed man.
The piece, **** led Hayden Panettiere and James Blunt, An Internet Lynching, notes that the timing is all wrong.
"It only takes the smallest of AI searches to find out that in May 2009, when pictures of Blunt and Panettiere were taken, she was 19, almost 20. So, if the incident happened when she was 18, Blunt's not your guy."
Piper also argues that Panettiere's story of the disturbing encounter, in which she fled from the room and hid somewhere else on the boat, doesn't match up with her and Blunt being seen together multiple times after the event.

Enea Bastianini is trading Tech3 KTM's struggling package for one of the 2026 grid's genuine front-runners, joining the SuperFile Trackhouse squad on Aprilia machinery for the next two seasons.
Trackhouse confirmed the signing on August 24, with the Italian set to partner Raul Fernandez, who recently renewed with the American outfit. Bastianini fills the seat vacated by Ai Ogura, who is moving to Yamaha. The switch pairs "The Beast" with a team that has been a regular presence at the sharp end of the championship this year - a marked upgrade over the Tech3 KTM effort he's been enduring.
Tech3 announced the split in the week leading up to Aragon, posting a farewell to Il Romagnolo on social media. "After two seasons with the team, it's time to say goodbye to Enea Bastianini at the end of the year," the team wrote. "Thank you for everything you've brought to the team over the past two seasons: the commitment, the racing, the laughs and the moments along the way. We've still got a season to finish together, but we'll be wishing you all the good luck, Enea!" Bastianini still has the balance of 2026 to run out on the RC16 before closing that chapter.
The timing lines up with a broader reset across MotoGP. Bastianini steps into a new-era Aprilia RS-GP built around the incoming regulations, with the reduced-capacity 850cc machinery, revised tires, and a fresh rulebook all landing at once. Pre-season testing kicks off at Valencia after the 2026 finale, giving him an early run at development work on the new bike.

Sustainable Growth Advisers (SGA), an investment management company, released its second-quarter 2026 investor letter for its "Global Growth Strategy." The letter can be downloaded here. The SGA Global Growth Portfolio returned 7.4% gross and 7.2% net, compared with 14.9% for the MSCI ACWI and 19.8% for the MSCI ACWI Growth Index. Momentum leadership and enthusiasm around AI infrastructure drove markets, with semiconductor, memory, and hardware stocks accounting for much of the gain. Although the portfolio owned AI beneficiaries, broader holdings lagged despite fundamentals, as median revenue and EPS growth reached 12% and 14% and more than 60% of the holdings beat expectations. SGA believes valuation compression reflects sentiment rather than weaker business quality, leaving the portfolio near its widest discount to the market since inception. The firm continues to favor durable compounders and expects 16% revenue growth and 20% earnings growth over three years. Also, please check the Fund's top five holdings to see its best picks for 2026.
In its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, SGA Global Growth Strategy highlighted Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ:INTU). Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ:INTU) provides financial management, payments and capital, compliance, and marketing products and services. On August 21, 2026, Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ:INTU) closed at $367.00 per share. SGA Global Growth Strategy stated the following regarding Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ:INTU) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"We liquidated our position in Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ:INTU) during the quarter. Following the company's fiscal third quarter results, we became increasingly concerned with the DIY Tax weakness, continued deterioration in Mailchimp, and reduced visibility on the timing of any growth reacceleration, as well as management's ability to execute in a challenging environment. As founder of the hedge fund company Appaloosa Management, David Tepper has built a reputation for bold, often contrarian bets -- particularly in distressed ***** ets. Investors monitor his moves closely because his track record includes legendary gains even during the toughest economic cycles.
New 13F filings reveal that during the second quarter, Appaloosa sold its entire position in Sandisk (NASDAQ: SNDK) while initiating a new stake in Broadcom (NASDAQ: AVGO). These moves offer a window into how Tepper is navigating the current chapter of the artificial intelligence (AI) revolution.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
Sandisk produces NAND flash memory, the high-speed storage technology that powers solid-state drives (SSDs). In the AI infrastructure era, these products have become indispensable because AI data centers require vast amounts of fast, dense storage to hold training data and inference workloads. AI-driven demand has fueled NAND prices sharply in recent quarters, shifting Sandisk's revenue mix toward enterprise data center customers. Revenue and margins are expanding dramatically as sales surge and pricing power returns to the storage specialist.
Filings show that Tepper initiated the Sandisk position during the first quarter of 2026 and subsequently exited completely sometime in the second quarter. While exact entry and exit prices are private, the timing alone implies substantial gains.

Filings show that Tepper initiated the Sandisk position during the first quarter of 2026 and subsequently exited completely sometime in the second quarter. While exact entry and exit prices are private, the timing alone implies substantial gains.

McDonald's (MCD) just entered the energy-drink market, but the bigger question for investors is whether the move can help revive the stock after a difficult year. The company began selling its Red Bull Dragonberry Energizer across U.S. restaurants on Aug. 17, marking McDonald's first entry into energy drinks.
The timing is interesting because McDonald's recently delivered a mixed second-quarter report. Adjusted earnings came in at $3.38 per share, beating the $3.32 consensus estimate, while revenue of roughly $7.1 billion fell slightly short of the $7.14 billion estimate.

Aston Villa's search for attacking reinforcement appears to be gathering pace, with Jean-Philippe Mateta emerging as a name of genuine interest as the summer window moves into a decisive phase. Credit to Tom Collomosse of the Daily Mail, who has reported that Villa have made an enquiry for the Crystal Palace striker, though there has been no formal offer at this stage.
The timing is significant. Villa's need for clarity in the centre-forward position has become more pressing amid continuing uncertainty around Ollie Watkins. Saudi Arabian interest has created an obvious layer of doubt, and Unai Emery has been notably open in discussing the situation. As he put it, "We have an issue with him, it's clear. He is our player. We have had offers for him. I don't want to sell him but it can change because if it's a good option for him and the club and I can replace him in the squad, this is the routine we have and we did before with the players who are leaving.
"With Ollie, he is here, for me he is a fantastic striker, we have always believed in him. Now he is our player, there are 10 days more or less to finish the transfer window, we will see what happens, I'm happy with him, if he is staying with us he will continue playing his level. If he leaving it's because it is good for three ways, one is him, another is the club and another is the team."
Photo IMAGO
Mateta fits the description of a striker who could offer Premier League-ready output without needing a long adaptation period. Last season, he made 32 league appearances and scored 12 goals, while also posting strong numbers in the air and providing a consistent physical reference point. He can occupy centre-backs, compete directly, and still threaten ****** e beyond the line, a combination Villa would value if they are reshaping the balance of Emery's front line.

Shares of H World Group Limited (NASDAQ:HTHT) jumped 11.3% to $46.61 on August 17 after second-quarter results combined continued growth, a higher outlook, and an aggressive capital-return program. Hotel turnover, which measures room and non-room transaction value across the network, increased 13.2% to RMB30.5 billion, while revenue rose 10.8% to RMB7.1 billion. The company raised its 2026 revenue-growth forecast to 4%-8% from 2%-6% and authorized up to $2.5 billion of dividends and repurchases over three years. For H World Group Limited (NASDAQ:HTHT), the question is whether those returns will come from stronger cash generation or eventually compete with hotel openings and upgrades.
As of June 30, H World Group Limited (NASDAQ:HTHT) operated 13,539 hotels with 1.34 million rooms and had 3,089 unopened hotels in its pipeline. Its China business opened 498 hotels and closed 176 during the quarter. Only one opening was leased and owned, underscoring how expansion is shifting toward managed and franchised properties. Across the group, 93% of rooms operated under those ****** et-light models.
H World Group Limited (NASDAQ:HTHT) ended June with RMB14.2 billion, or $2.1 billion, of cash and equivalents against RMB4.2 billion of debt. Including RMB142 million of restricted cash, net cash totaled RMB10.2 billion. Second-quarter operating cash inflow was RMB3.4 billion. The board also declared an approximately $275 million ordinary dividend, equal to $0.87 per American Depositary Share. The larger plan sets an aggregate three-year ceiling, while leaving the timing and mix of dividends and repurchases to the board.
H World Group Limited (NASDAQ:HTHT) is still expanding, not retreating. Management maintained its 2026 target of 2,200-2,300 gross hotel openings, and nearly every China opening during the quarter used a manachised or franchised structure. Franchisees supply much of the property capital, while H World supplies brands, technology, reservations and operating support.
That structure is already improving the earnings mix. Franchised revenue increased 25.2% to RMB3.6 billion, while H World Group Limited (NASDAQ:HTHT) lifted non-GAAP adjusted EBITDA 20.0% to RMB2.7 billion. Operating margin widened to 31.1% from 27.8%. If that momentum continues, shareholder returns can be funded without sacrificing network growth.

Drugmaker Bristol-Myers Squibb Company (NYSE:BMY) is putting real money behind its confidence in American manufacturing. On August 10, the company said it will spend about $2.3 billion on a new plant in Houston, part of a larger $40 billion U.S. investment pledge.
On the very same day, British regulators cleared Eli Lilly and Company (NYSE:LLY)'s weight-loss pill Foundayo for both weight management and type 2 diabetes, making the UK the first country in Europe to approve the drug.
Bristol-Myers Squibb Company (NYSE:BMY)'s new Houston campus, roughly 600,000 square feet, will churn out everything from small-molecule medicines to more complex biologics and antibody-drug conjugates. It is expected to create close to 500 skilled jobs and about 2,000 construction jobs between 2027 and 2030. CEO Christopher Boerner framed it as a vote of confidence in America's biopharma future. The timing lines up with a broader industry trend: drugmakers from Lilly to Johnson & Johnson to Pfizer are all racing to build more in the U.S. as tariff pressure from the Trump administration ramps up.
Eli Lilly took the opposite direction this week, expanding outward instead of inward. Foundayo's UK approval opens a major new market, even though the pill isn't covered by the National Health Service yet and still trails Novo Nordisk's Wegovy pill there.
So which strategy actually serves shareholders better, building strength at home or chasing growth abroad?

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Two practice sessions are in the books on the streets of the nation's capital.
But who will take pole position for the IndyCar Freedom 250?
Kyle Kirkwood topped the timing sheets during the first practice session, ahead of Alex Palou, the driver he is chasing in the IndyCar standings. But it was Palou who led the way in the second session, just 0.0766 seconds ahead of Kirkwood.
Scott Dixon and the Arrow McLaren pair of Nolan Siegel and Pato O'Ward rounded out the top five from the second practice session. Their Arrow McLaren teammate Christian Lundgaard posted the sixth-fastest time.
Speaking with the media, including SB Nation, following the first practice session Palou talked at length about the 1.7-mile track that winds around the National Mall, with landmarks such as the Washington Monument and the United States Capitol Building helping to round out the backdrop.

Arthur Fils charged into the men's final of the ATP-WTA Cincinnati Masters on Saturday as he dispatched Flavio Cobolli 6-3, 6-4 in a match delayed for 45 minutes by rain and lightning.
In his first ever Masters 1000 final, 22-year-old Fils will play the winner of the all-American semi-final clash between Brandon Nakashima and Frances Tiafoe.
Fils beat Cobolli -- the Roland Garros finalist from Italy -- for the third time in their career series to become the youngest French Masters finalist since a 20-year-old Richard Gasquet in Toronto two decades ago.
The 68-minute match finished with perfect timing as rain began only minutes after the conclusion, briefly delaying the start of a women's semi-final between holder Iga Swiatek and Jessica Pegula.
Fils said the weather delay that had halted the start of his match as the players took to the court was difficult to deal with.

If Yasir Al-Rumayyan, governor of Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), was looking for a reason to pull its money out of the LIV Golf tour, he reportedly found it in Sergio Garcia's outburst at the Masters in April.
That's the claim in Friday's edition of The Financial Times.
"In April, as LIV golfers floundered at the Masters, golf's most prestigious tournament, Spanish star Sergio Garcia damaged the Augusta National course during a fit of rage in the final round," read the Times. "People familiar with the matter say Rumayyan's embarrassment at the sequence of events helped lead to his decision to pull the plug on PIF's financing of the rival tour, as the fund focuses more on its huge domestic commitments in the kingdom."
Now, one's first thought is likely that many factors led the PIF to pull its funding from LIV, which has consistently lost money amid poor ratings and bad PR since its brief moment in the sun. However, when you look at the timing of everything, it kinda checks out.
Garcia's meltdown, which included him slamming his driver in frustration, tearing out chunks of grass, and breaking it against a cooler, took place on Sunday, April 12, the final day of the 2026 Masters.

It did not take now former Notre Dame defensive lineman Junior Tuihalamaka to make many choices this week after finding out that he is eligible to play another year to college football.
The four-year Irish contributor was notified earlier in the week that him, along with a few others could play for one last season. Tuihalamak didn't wait around at all, on Thursday entering the transfer portal and then on Friday committing to the LSU Tigers. By not having signed with an NFL team, there weren't many complications for him to make a move.
All of this happened just hours after Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman took the podium and addressed the situation. He said that due to the timings of the decision by the courts, it wouldn't be possible to bypass graduate admissions and get Tuihalamaka ready for the school year.
It's unfortunate that it happened this way, as if it were at the start of fall camp, you'd have to believe that the edge rusher would still be on the Irish's roster. Now Tuihalamaka will finish his career with the Tigers, and we'll be watching from a distance how he does in the SEC.

Drake Maye Reveals One Area Patriots Need to Improve After Eagles Practice originally appeared on NESN. Add NESN as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The New England Patriots have shown some promising signs early in the 2026 offseason, though they still have plenty to improve on both sides of the ball.
Teams have joint practices, preseason games, and everything in between for a reason.
They help teams understand what they need to keep working on. For the Patriots, including quarterback Drake Maye, that's a major focus right now. Maye understands he needs to keep improving on offense, especially in the red zone.
"Just late, late to the football, late in the red zone," Maye said, per the Boston Herald. "You can't be late in the red zone down there. It's tight, and it's a concept that we probably need to get some more work on and just find some timing. Just can't be late down there."

On August 13, Aveanna Healthcare (NASDAQ:AVAH) held its second-quarter earnings call, and the tone was different from prior quarters spent explaining away a caregiver shortage. Revenue climbed 13.7% year over year to roughly $670 million, and every one of the company's three divisions grew. But the headline moment came when CEO Jeffrey Shaner announced that California's 2027 budget will finally include a meaningful pediatric private duty nursing rate increase, effective January 1, 2027, closing out an advocacy push that took four years and now touches all 32 of Aveanna's private duty states.
Aveanna's core strategy for the past several years has been aligning caregiver capacity with the payers willing to pay for it, and the numbers on the call suggest that bet is paying off. Home health and hospice revenue rose 14.8% year over year, private duty services grew 14.0%, and medical solutions added 9.4%, with adjusted EBITDA up 8% to $95.4 million. On the government side, Aveanna landed seven state rate enhancements by the second quarter and expects more once state budget processes wrap up in the third quarter, with California standing as the biggest prize of all. On the payer side, private duty services now has 37 preferred payer agreements after adding three in the quarter, and those agreements cover 64% of the division's managed care volume, up from 60% in the first quarter. Home health has already hit its full-year goal of 50 preferred payers, with episodic admissions running at 81% of the mix and episodic volume growth of 18.5%.
Management also pointed to CMS's proposed home health rule, published July 1, and its finalized hospice rule, published August 6, as supportive of stable industry rates. Layered on top is the Family First Homecare acquisition, closed in early June and on track to finish integrating by late in the fourth quarter, plus guidance raised to more than $2.68 billion in revenue and more than $365 million in adjusted EBITDA for the year.
Not every figure on the call moved in the company's favor. Private duty services revenue per hour rose just 1.7% to $44.62, while the segment's cost of revenue per hour jumped 7.8% to $31.74, and the spread per hour landed at $12.88 as caregiver wage increases continue working their way through the business. Management also noted that the year-ago quarter in that same segment included about $9 million in nonrecurring favorable items, which makes the current growth rate a harder comparison than it first appears. Much of the good news still depends on government timing that Aveanna does not control: the California rate increase is pending final details from the Medi-Cal department, and additional state wins hinge on budget cycles still playing out. The Family First Homecare deal was funded entirely out of cash on hand, and its integration is not expected to finish until late in the fourth quarter, so the returns on that spending have not fully shown up yet.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck may have come unusually close to another post-divorce encounter in Los Angeles, but there is no evidence yet that the former spouses actually spent time together.
Both were photographed at the same West Hollywood office building on Aug. 20. Just Jared reported that Lopez and Affleck were each seen leaving the building that day, creating the possibility that their visits overlapped.
One detail made the timing particularly noticeable. Photographers noted that Affleck's purple Cadillac was parked nearby when Lopez arrived and would have been clearly visible to her.
They had a remarkably similar office-building overlap while separated in 2024 and later reunited publicly for a movie they were both professionally involved in.
The Aug. 20 photographs establish that Lopez and Affleck were at the same West Hollywood office complex during the same general period. They do not show the two arriving together, leaving together or interacting inside or outside the building.

England defender Ezri Konsa has completed his transfer to **** nal, with the 28-year-old becoming the Gunners' fifth major signing of the summer.
The former Aston Villa defender moves to north London in a deal worth £51m, and he has signed a four-year contract with the option of an additional 12 months.
The defender – who can play at both centre-back and right-back – was targeted for his versatility, as well as for cover for the injured Jurrien Timber and William Saliba, the latter of whom could be out until late this year after requiring surgery on a back injury.
Konsa is **** nal's fifth major summer signing (PA)
The move was completed on the same day that the champions will open their 2026/27 campaign at home to ewly promoted Coventry City, though the timing of the deal means that Konsa was obviously not registered in time to be in the squad for the game.

The Detroit Lions are taking a look at some serious experience for an offensive line that suddenly could use more of it.
Detroit worked out veteran guards Will Hernandez and Laken Tomlinson on Thursday, according to the NFL transaction wire. Neither player had signed with the Lions as of Friday morning.
The timing isn't difficult to figure out.
Ben Bartch is in concussion protocol, cutting into what was already a shrinking opportunity for him to challenge Christian Mahogany at left guard. Detroit is also operating without center Cade Mays, whose wrist injury is expected to sideline him for roughly eight to 10 weeks.
Brad Holmes apparently decided it wouldn't hurt to have a couple of veteran guards stop by Allen Park.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's UK return reportedly turned Balmoral's "business as usual" summer into a royal family summit. The **** ss of Sussex and the Duke were said to be preparing an extended move back with Archie and Lilibet. The timing placed King Charles, Prince William, Kate Middleton, and other senior royals together in Scotland. The reported talks centered on school plans, family access, and the next Sussex chapter.
As per The Sun report, the royal family's Balmoral holiday became a summit. The outlet said the gathering included King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William, and Kate Middleton. Their children, Archie and Lilibet, also reportedly had school places. The outlet said Charles was told of Harry's return on Sunday, before arriving at Balmoral on Tuesday.

The Sun said Princess Anne, Sir Timothy Laurence, Zara Tindall, Mike Tindall, Prince Edward, and Sophie were also there. That meant major working royals were with the King as he handled the next phase of the Sussex story.
