The Knights and Tides will make up Thursday's game as a part of a doubleheader on Friday, July 24.

A three-run eighth inning for the Biscuits (46-46) was the difference in this one, as the Barons (35-58) fumbled the lead to drop their second of the series, 6-4. Even though he gave up a home run, lefthander Lucas Gordon put together a decent enough start for Birmingham to win the game, but the bullpen couldn't hold up its end of the bargain. Gordon surrendered three runs on three hits with two walks and four strikeouts, but Pierce George gave up a game-tying double followed by a go-ahead two-run homer in the eighth that immediately sent their chances of winning off a cliff.
The Barons outhit Montgomery, 10-6, with 60% of those mashed for extra bases: four doubles and two home runs. B-ham went 2-for-7 with runners in scoring position and left five on base, and the Biscuits were nearly identical on that front except they left four on instead. Anthony DePino (one) and Colby Shelton (two) accounted for three of the four two-baggers and posted two hits apiece. The long ******* , however, were both solo shots, one by Jorge Corona and the other by Adam Fogel.

South Korean contract development and manufacturing organisation (CDMO) Samsung Biologics has been on a steep upward growth trajectory since receiving its first licence to produce biologic drug substances in 2015.
That FDA approval was followed in 2016 by a Certificate of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) compliance from the EMA for biologics drug substance and drug product, and the company now has over 450 approvals from regulators around the world. The expansion of Samsung's manufacturing licences is mirrored in the growth of its performance, which saw it achieve revenues of $3.1bn (Won4,557bn) in 2025, a 30% increase from the previous year.
Until now, that work has been centred on the Songdo Bio Cluster in the South Korean city of Incheon, where Samsung will have three campuses, having recently acquired land for Bio Campus III, which will be set aside for future modalities including work on cell and gene therapies and vaccines. The cluster will also be the location for Samsung's forthcoming open innovation centre, which is due to open in 2027 and is being built in partnership with Lilly Gateway Labs. But a key part of the company's plans for continued growth involves adding capacity outside its home country.
On 20 July 2026, Samsung unveiled its plans for the $1.8bn (SFr1.46bn) acquisition of PolyPeptide Group, which specialises in peptide-based active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and produces one third of the commercially approved peptides in the world. In addition to expanding Samsung's capabilities beyond antibodies and ADCs and into peptide therapeutics, including GLP-1s, its deal with the Swiss CDMO also comes with a network of sites across Sweden, Belgium, France, the US, and India, together with a corporate office in Switzerland and an innovation centre in Strasbourg, France.
The PolyPeptide deal is expected to close before the end of 2026, when it will build on Samsung's first major M&A transaction of the year. The Knights (52-46) are off to a good start against the Tides (35-61), and they hold a 2-0 series lead. Charlotte picked up 12 hits and drew six walks during a strong performance.
The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the second, when four of the first five Knights reached base safely. Tim Elko singled, Andy Weber singled, and although Dru Baker popped out, Riley Unroe and Rikuu Nishida drew back-to-back walks. Nishida’s walk forced in the game’s first run, and the Knights led from that point forward. Charlotte was not done that inning, as Everson Pereira drove in a run with a productive ground out, and Austin Hays doubled to make the score 3-0.
In the third, Korey Lee singled before stealing second and advancing to third on a throwing error. From there, Weber drove Lee in with a double. Two innings later, Weber built on his big day with a solo homer to extend Charlotte’s lead to five. The Knights scored their sixth run on a Riley Unroe solo homer in the fifth, and Tim Elko added the exclamation point with a two-run homer in the eighth.
Knights starter Mason Adams, 26, was on top of his game, only allowing one hit in five innings and keeping the Tides off the board. The bullpen allowed four runs in four innings, but despite a subpar bullpen performance, the Knights comfortably held on.

Charlotte (51-46) had to battle from behind, but a pair of rehabbing big leaguers helped spark the comeback. The Tides grabbed an early 1-0 lead after the dreaded leadoff walk surrendered by David Sandlin came around to score in the first. However, the Knights’ cavalry broke through in the fourth with a three-run frame. Rikuu Nishida worked a free pass before Everson Pereira roped an RBI double. Austin Hays followed by launching a two-run homer to put Charlotte in front for good.
Norfolk tried to creep back in with a pair in the fifth, but Charlotte had a four-run answer. Andy Weber mashed a homer, Nolan Jones drove in another run, and suddenly it was 7-3. The Tides did their best to make it interesting late, nicking Tanner McDougal for one and then squeezing two more out of Garrett Schoenle in the ninth, but the comeback fell a run short. Sandlin, for his part, was stingy with hits but generous with walks, serving up three in four innings and missing out on the win. He fanned two.

The second edition of the roster prediction series is here. The roster is little changed since early June, but the tides still change around NRG as the World Cup comes to an end and training camp gets underway soon.
Similar to how NCAA Basketball’s Bracketology works, I’ll update the below with the Last Four (players) in the roster, the first four out, the biggest riser, and biggest faller. I’ll update this series every other Tuesday until the final 53-man roster is announced on Sunday, August 30th.

It has, for long, been speculated that Julian Nagelsmann was on thin ice with the DFB. Since his arrival, Nagelsmann has won twenty games out of thirty four, but his side was eliminated when it mattered. In particular, the quarter-finals of 2024 Euros, and most recently in the knockout stage of the FIFA World Cup 2026, there were high expectations that Germany turn their tides around, but the team continued to disappoint.
Nagelsmann led his side into the World Cup group stage with a nine-game win streak, and his side showed much promise in their opener against Curaçao. They ultimately faltered in the knockouts, as they often have, and with two years of multiple chances, the DFB saw it fit to replace him.
There was a catch in this exit — his resignation would need him to walk away from the severance pay the DFB was obliged to offer if he were sacked. For long, it was ****** umed that Nagelsmann would not leave on his own terms and would rather wait to be removed by the higher-ups. However, the latest reports say otherwise.

A ground-breaking adventurer has pulled off a remarkable 250 mile (403km) journey along the UK's south coast, gliding for hours at a time across open water on a foil board.
Guy Bridge, 26, from Exmouth, Devon, completed the three-day challenge, with a total of 19 hours 48 minutes on the water, by "downwind foiling", riding above the waves on a board attached to a hydrofoil.
He took on the trip from Exmouth to Folkestone in Kent, including notorious headlands like Portland Bill off Dorset where tides collide in treacherous seas.
And he was supported by wife Emma, 30, who also joined him for one leg of the journey in West Sussex.
Guy's endurance journey, which he completed at the start of June, now adds a different kind of challenge to the family's growing list.

Jenny Mollen has revealed she went through a "harrowing" experience while taking a GLP-1 weight loss drug.
The episode left her then-husband Jason Biggs "screaming like it's a horror movie", she shared on the latest episode of the Let's Talk Off Camera With Kelly Ripa podcast.
"I was microdosing the GLPs. I was also taking other peptides," Mollen recalled of the June 2025 incident. But I think that something happens with your period. Maybe it's just the perimenopausal situation.
"Suddenly I was, like, hemorrhaging. It was blood clots the size of dinosaur eggs. It was so scary," she continued, adding that she "felt like I was laying an egg" when she went to the bathroom. "So I run to the bathroom and I am literally sitting on the toilet and I hear this plop and just blood everywhere."
When Biggs came to help, he joined in on the panic moment and started screaming too.
Mollen didn't immediately go to the hospital but, by that night, her condition had worsened and she knew she was losing too much blood.

It’s not supposed to happen this quickly. Not long ago, the Chicago White Sox were coming off a 121-loss season with little to look forward to. But less than two years from that forgettable time in Sox history, a team of young and hungry players looking to turn the tides on the South Side has emerged.
And they’ve emerged not just as a good team but also as one of the American League’s best.
“You should stop thinking of this as a surprise,” White Sox shortstop Colson Montgomery said this week. “Because we're consistently winning, we're consistently in every game. ... It doesn't matter what team it is, we're not going to overlook them. We're going to go out there, and we're gonna just try and play our ball. I think those days [of being a surprise] are kind of over.”
So far in 2026, the White Sox have been arguably the best story in baseball. Coming off a third consecutive 100-loss season, Chicago is 38-34 and tied for first in the AL Central. It’s the team’s best start to a season since 2021, and this squad has already changed the narrative on what they can be this year.

An incremental step forward was expected, but they weren’t supposed to be a team playing .500 ball. Yet in May, Chicago took off, winning 18 of 28 games. The Sox began to play inspired baseball, led by rookie sensation Munetaka Murakami, who was the first player in MLB to hit 20 home runs this season.

For weeks, the Montréal Roses looked untouchable. They sat at the top of the standings and seemed destined to extend their lead. Instead, the door for Ottawa opened and they were forced to settle for a late draw in Toronto.
Of course, DB Pridham wasn’t going to let that opportunity go to waste.
A commanding 3-1 victory over Vancouver Rise FC had ended their impressive winning streak. Unfortunately, it also sent the Rapid to the top of the table for the first time this season. Here’s the stinger: Ottawa is a genuine ****** le contender.
