Como coach Cesc Fabregas has welcomed the return of Roberto Mancini to the Italy job. 'I always liked him, since Manchester City. He's a winner and plays good football.'
The decision was finally made today to appoint Mancini to the **** onale, three years on from when he walked away from the role the first time to take over the Saudi Arabia national team instead.
Following offers to Carlo Ancelotti, Pep Guardiola and Andrea Pirlo, the choice of Mancini feels to some like a step backwards rather than trying to modernise Italian football.
However, Fabregas disagrees with the **** sment, insisting it is a positive move for Calcio.

Saudi Arabia's AI champion HUMAIN has signed its first sports sponsorship, partnering with Al Nassr, the Riyadh soccer club where superstar Cristiano Ronaldo plays, as it looks to integrate its AI offerings into the team.
The agreement will see HUMAIN's logo on Al Nassr's jerseys and new training center. HUMAIN also plans to deploy its sports technology unit and its interactive entertainment platform at the club.
HUMAIN aims to use the sponsorship deal to "go beyond the traditional sponsorship model," chief executive Tariq Amin said. "Together, we'll look at how solutions such as HUMAIN Sport and HUMAIN Create can help shape the next generation of fan engagement, from more personalized digital experiences to new forms of AI-powered content.
HUMAIN declined to comment on the financial details of the deal.
The sponsorship is also expected to provide a financial boost for Al Nassr. The club — which, like HUMAIN, is owned by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund — is reported to have more than $200 million in debt, complicating efforts to sign new players this summer.

Roma has officially lost another transfer target. Summerville is a new player from Al Hilal.
The Dutch winger was one step away from wearing the Giallorossi jersey, but the Saudi club's push has turned the situation upside down: £55 million plus £10 million in bonuses immediately convinced West Ham to sell their star.
The 2001-born player was also showered with money, which is why the deal with Roma fell through.
The Riyadh club welcomed Summerville with several social media videos and, secretly—and not even that much for the more attentive—wanted to provoke the Roman club.
Ah Hilal made Summerville's arrival official with a statement: "The board of directors of Al-Hilal Club Company, chaired by His Highness Prince Nawaf bin Saad, has signed Dutch midfielder Crysencio Summerville on a four-year contract."

Saul "Canelo" Alvarez has already had a professional boxing career spanning more than 20 years and 68 fights. On Wednesday, just days after he turned 36 years old, the Mexican superstar opened up about how much time he believes he still has left in the sport.
"Maybe three, four more fights for me there, because I have other goals out of boxing too," Alvarez revealed on Uncrowned's "The Ariel Helwani Show," while also announcing a rescheduled date of Oct. 31 for his WBC super middleweight ******* le challenge against Christian Mbilli in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Alvarez (63-3-2, 39 KOs), who has been earning eight-figure paydays for more than a decade, explained that money is no longer his principal motivation. At this stage in his career, "Canelo" continues to compete because he has a deep-rooted love for the sport.
"[Boxing] makes me feel alive," Alvarez said. "I was born for this. I really enjoy it. It's hard to adapt yourself again [and again to different opponents], and the training camps are very hard, but I love that, and I enjoy it a lot.
"I don't need anything. ... I did everything in boxing already, and I'm good [financially]. But I still love boxing. When I fight, I always break records, and that's the motivation for me. You need to do something in life. You need to keep your mind busy, motivated. Right now, my motivation is boxing."

The 2026 LIV Golf season still has four events on its schedule — in the United Kingdom, New York, Indianapolis, and the season finale Team Championship in Michigan. However, that final event could be in jeopardy.
From captain of the Cleeks Golf Club, Martin Kaymer, believing it is highly unlikely the finale will happen as scheduled, to CEO Scott O’Neil refusing to guarantee that the final four tournaments of LIV's season will be played, to Jon Rahm refusing to commit to a future with LIV Golf, there was plenty of reason for skepticism surrounding the end of the 2026 season.
With the future of LIV Golf in question throughout this year, more recent news has failed to quell fans' skepticism about the league in general. Here's what we know.
LIV Golf remains in the headlines as executives meet amid ongoing conversations about the future of the sport.
See the LIV golfers who continue to draw attention through both current competition and their place in the broader discussion.

WASHINGTON/RIYADH, July 22 (Reuters) - Iranian drone attacks on CIA facilities in the Gulf have prompted U.S. intelligence **** ysts to investigate whether Russia **** isted by providing targeting information or advanced drone technology, said four people familiar with U.S. intelligence.
These people, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss national security matters, said U.S. intelligence officials have not yet reached firm conclusions about the possible Russian involvement in the attacks on CIA facilities. But they cited the strikes' effectiveness and apparent precision, as well as Russia's broader technical support for Iran, as possible evidence.
Reuters and other media have reported — and U.S. officials have acknowledged — that Russia has provided targeting and other support for Iran in its strikes on U.S. targets in the Gulf region generally, but the intelligence community's investigation of possible Russian involvement in supporting the CIA facility attacks has not been previously disclosed.
At least two CIA sites were struck in March, Reuters and other outlets have reported. One of the facilities was the CIA station in Saudi Arabia, which is located in the U.S. embassy in Riyadh, and a separate site was located in eastern Iraq. Some of the sources said additional CIA sites had been hit, but they did not disclose details.

DUBAI/RIYADH, July 20 (Reuters) - Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthis said on Monday they would impose a naval blockade on Saudi Arabia, opening a potential new front against the United States in its war with Iran and raising the threat to global energy supplies and trade beyond the Gulf.
The escalation comes after one of the deadliest periods in the war for U.S. troops. The Pentagon on Monday identified two U.S. soldiers who were killed when Iran attacked an American base in Jordan on Friday, while they also said they had found unidentified remains that could be those of a third soldier reported as missing in action. Separately, a fourth service member was killed in northern Iraq during the "controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance from a downed Iranian one-way attack drone."
After the Houthis announced their blockade, the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen said in a statement that it would respond to them with force, and also that it began implementing protection measures for its ships moving through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, a key export route for Saudi oil after the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
The Houthis made their announcement despite signs that Tehran and Washington want to resume diplomacy to halt a worsening cycle of attacks that has all but wrecked a fragile interim agreement signed last month. Iran's Foreign Ministry said mediators had presented "proposals" to Tehran, signalling that diplomatic contacts remain active, but gave no details.

Ismael Bennacer is still on the Milan books after the Dinamo Zagreb loan, but is taking matters into his own hands to find a new club this summer.
The Algeria international had been a big investment when making the transfer to Milan in 2019 for €17.2m from Empoli.
His career was at its peak when he suffered a devastating knee injury in May 2023, from which he struggled to fully recover.

There was a loan at Olympique Marseille in February 2025 that was not made permanent, then another to Dinamo Zagreb in September 2025 when other markets had already closed.

The circumstances surrounding Sami Zayn‘s WWE Undisputed Championship reign are raising eyebrows, and a new report is adding fuel to speculation that his time with the ***** le could be very short.
According to WrestleVotes on Fightful Select, as of July 1, WWE’s marketing department has still not received instructions to update the 2026 SummerSlam key art concepts to reflect Zayn as champion.
Zayn’s ***** le win at Night of Champions in Riyadh caught many within the company off guard, with a source telling WrestleVotes the win was handled on a strict “need to know” basis across multiple departments. One employee described the situation as “worrisome,” noting that a lack of advance notice for a major creative development of that magnitude could make their jobs considerably more difficult if that level of secrecy becomes standard practice going forward.
The marketing detail is the most telling part of the report. When a championship changes hands with genuine long-term implications, the promotional machinery around it tends to move quickly. Updating SummerSlam key art is not a minor task — it shapes advertising, merchandise, and the visual identity of WWE‘s biggest summer event. The fact that those instructions have not been issued as of July 1, days after Zayn won the ***** le, suggests the company may not be planning to build SummerSlam around him as champion.
That reading aligns with recent reporting from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, which indicated that CM Punk vs. Cody Rhodes for the ***** le was always the planned SummerSlam main event, and that Punk’s absence from television since WrestleMania 42 was designed to build toward a return and ***** le program with Rhodes. Rhodes vs. Jey Uso in a No. 1 Contenders Match took place at SmackDown tapings and will challenge Zayn for the ***** le next Monday on Raw in Chicago — where Punk is also rumored to be making his return. If Punk appears and pivots the ***** le picture in his direction, Zayn’s historic first WWE Championship reign could end after just eight days.

Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes is expected to join Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal after the completion of his work during the current summer transfer window.
Although Hughes remains fully focused on Liverpool’s recruitment plans and supporting new head coach Andoni Iraola, preparations are already being made for his eventual move to Saudi Arabia.
Simon Francis has already completed his switch to Al Hilal and has taken charge of the club’s transfer strategy.
The former Bournemouth technical director is understood to be working on the expectation that Hughes will join him in Riyadh in the near future.
Hughes is contracted to Liverpool until June 2027, meaning any departure will follow an agreed transition period rather than an immediate exit.

On Tuesday, La Liga announced the complete fixture list for the 2026-27 season, with Real Madrid now knowing who they will play across the 38 matchdays. After two years without winning the ******* le, there is a strong desire to return it to the Bernabeu next May, and with Jose Mourinho now at the helm, their chances are good.
Real Madrid will start the season on the weekend of the 16th of August with a home match against Copa del Rey holders Real Sociedad, with their first away fixture the following weekend at Elche. Newly-promoted side Malaga then travel to the Bernabeu before they round off their first set of five matches with matches against Real Betis (away) and Rayo Vallecano (home).
Fans will eagerly anticipate the first El Clasico fixture of the season, which takes place on MD10 – the weekend of the 25th of October – at the Spotify Camp Nou, with the return match being at the Bernabeu on MD35 in May. As for city rivals Atletico Madrid, Mourinho’s side will travel to the Riyadh Air Metropolitano on MD7 before welcoming Diego Simeone’s men to Catalonia on MD30, scheduled for early April.
Real Madrid are certainly in a better way to win the La Liga ******* le than they were a few weeks ago. The arrival of Mourinho, coupled with Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries, Marc Cucurella and Bernardo Silva being signed, has injected fresh optimism into the Bernabeu, and that could increase further with more new signings.

Fury's fight in Pattaya - where the 37-year-old trains - will be a day before Joshua makes his comeback on 25 July against Kristian Prenga in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia - his first fight since being involved in a car crash that killed two of his friends in Nigeria in December 2025.

In just a few hours, the summer transfer window will finally begin.
Roma needs strengthening in several areas of the pitch, and Gasperini is also looking for a worthy striker to partner Malen, or at least give him a break in a few matches.
The Dutch striker, eliminated last night on penalties by Morocco at the World Cup after spending the entire match on the bench, has been approached by a Saudi Arabian club.
According to Il Corriere dello Sport, a Riyadh-based club has reportedly attempted to ***** him from Roma after just six months.
The former Aston Villa player, however, immediately declined the offer: Gasperini is waiting for him at Trigoria, and "Bobby" is determined to prove his worth after a shady World Cup.

For the first time in five years, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez won’t be fighting around one of the biggest boxing weekends of the calendar.
Alvarez’s return bout against WBC super middleweight champion Christian Mbili — originally scheduled for Sept. 12 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia — has been postponed until late October. Alvarez’s promoter, Turki Alalshikh, announced the news via his Ring Magazine on Saturday.
Alvarez has traditionally owed the month of September for boxing, with many of his biggest events taking place around Mexican Independence Day weekend.
One of the biggest examples of that came last year, when Alvarez (63-3-2, 39 KOs) and Terence Crawford battled for the undisputed super middleweight championship in a blockbuster Netflix bout on Sept. 13, 2025. Crawford ultimately upset Alvarez via unanimous decision, breaking Alvarez’s six-fight win streak and sending him toppling out of Uncrowned’s pound-for-pound rankings. Crawford retired shortly thereafter, vacating his WBA, WBC, WBO and IBF super middleweight belts.
A former four-division champion, Alvarez, 35, has remained sidelined since that loss but nonetheless remains one of the biggest stars in world boxing.

As someone who has been critical of WWE's booking of Oba Femi since WrestleMania, I hold my hands up on this one — they may have just redeemed themselves.
How foolish we all feel now, those of us who thought having "The Ruler" in the King of the Ring final was just a ploy to set up some kind of Brock Lesnar interference. To even say it out loud now feels humiliating, but some of us genuinely thought Jey Uso was going to beat Oba Femi on Saturday at Night of Champions.
To be fair, WWE did plant a few seeds to suggest that might be the case. Over on "Raw," we had the all-powerful Roman Reigns making it clear that he wanted to see his cousin challenging Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam. That seemed like a good sign that WWE might indeed crown King Jey in Riyadh, thus setting up a Bloodline-tastic angle at SummerSlam. Though it turned out it was just a red herring.
Here's another mea culpa: who among us genuinely expected that Femi vs. Uso would be a solid wrestling match? In all honesty, whoever produced this one knocked it out of the park. They managed to let Uso get some serious offense in, while still maintaining Femi's whole indestructible vibe. Among the hefty clotheslines and no-sells there were some moments of genius: Uso's acrobatic escape from Femi's first "Fall From Grace" was beautiful.
To cap it off, they opted for exactly the right finish: Femi managing to put his opponent down for the three-count after the first hit of his finisher. In storyline or otherwise, Uso should have no reason to feel ashamed of that performance — though no doubt he'll get a storyline tongue-lashing from Reigns on "Raw" nevertheless.

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia — Where were you when Sami Zayn finally did it? Where were you when Sami Zayn, after years of coming up short, after losing nine world championship matches, got back up nine times and won it in his tenth? That’s right, in the outstanding Night of Champions main event triple threat, the ‘Underdog from the Underground’ overcame Cody Rhodes and Gunther, and celebrated his first WWE championship in his second home of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
This match marked the end of a very good Premium Live Event, the 12th iteration of Night of Champions to be exact. Though only three **** les were on the line, King and Queen of the Ring winners were crowned as well, which helped this PLE feel as special as it deserved to.
Here are the full results and breakdowns of each match on the night, starting with the biggest surprise in the WWE in recent memory, Sami Zayn finally winning the big one.
WWE Championship: Sami Zayn def. Cody Rhodes (c) and Gunther.

Sami Zayn closed out WWE Night of Champions 2026 from the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Saturday afternoon with a championship win that rocked the WWE universe. Zayn shocked Cody Rhodes to claim the WWE **** le, Oba Femi and Iyo Sky punched their respective tickets to SummerSlam, and Charlotte Flair opened the door for a potential showdown with Jade Cargill.
As WWE turns its attention toward SummerSlam in just over a month, here’s six big takeaways from a wild night in Saudi Arabia.
After teasing a championship run on and off over the past decade, WWE finally pulled the trigger on Sami Zayn with a move that shakes the foundation of the organization.
The “will they, won’t they” tease was played expertly throughout Saturday’s main event, with Zayn finding opportunities and either getting a near-fall or one of his opponents forcing the sudden breakup. Cody Rhodes looked ready to dominate his way to another **** le defense, hitting a double Cross Rhodes on Gunther and Zayn, before holding onto Zayn for a second finisher. But Zayn then dropped onto his back and rolled up Rhodes for the stunning victory.
The win opens the door for a plethora of options for what happens over the next month. With a backlog of talent vying for opportunities — including Oba Femi’s impending SummerSlam **** le challenge — the odds of this being a sustained **** le run feels low.

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia -- Night of Champions, one of the WWE’s most storied Premium Live Events, took place in front of a sold out crowd of 27,000+ at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The WWE has been showing the first hour of its PLE’s live on ESPN TV since WrestleMania, so for NOC, they decided to go all in with the closing of the King and Queen of the Ring tournaments, showing both matches in the free first hour.
Despite the highly debated decisions on who made it to the finals, the WWE still delivered two fine matches, and the WWE’s newest royalty has now been crowned.
King of the Ring: Oba Femi defeats Jey Uso
Coming into the finals match between Oba Femi and Jey Uso, it was very clear who should win. That would be Oba Femi, the newest WWE megastar and the man who temporarily retired Brock Lesnar after destroying him at WrestleMania. Because of Brock Lesnar though, and the threat that he posed to interfere and cost Femi this finals match, many believed that Jey Uso could pull off the impossible and knock Oba off.

Saturday night is a monumental date with destiny for one Oba Femi.
By pinning Jey Uso, he'd become the 2026 King Of The Ring and be guaranteed a ****** le shot vs. Roman Reigns or Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam. Not only that, but Oba could have 2 matches on the August PLE - that ****** le showdown and another that retires the legendary Brock Lesnar seemingly for good.
Or, y'know, WWE boss Triple H might cool his jets on Femi and decide that another Uso main event push is what his audience really want to see instead. Hmm, it isn't. It really, really isn't. Look, this isn't supposed to be some brutal takedown of Jey, because he's class in his own way, but Oba must be the priority right now. Uso challenging Cody doesn't feel SummerSlam worthy anyway.
Other nightmares keeping 'The Game' and his fanbase awake all week include WWE fudging the Queen Of The Ring tourney's purpose, strong SmackDown heels looking like total tools opposite Cody, Danhausen turning the clock back to his borderline embarrassing debut at Elimination Chamber and old rivals reliving old problems in the women's midcard scene.
Real world events threatened to derail Night Of Champions over in Saudi Arabia completely, but WWE are on the way. They better hope it's a trip to remember rather than one everyone would much rather forget. We've already ****** ysed everything that simply must happen in Riyadh this weekend, so now it's time to zoom in on all of the disasters that could afflict Hunter's latest PLE.

Hello everybody, and welcome back to another week of the WWE Men’s Power Rankings. As we head towards Night of Champions in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, you can expect the action to heat up inside the ring. With the summer’s storylines already taking place, with the King of the Ring tournament, you can expect rivalries to be sizzling hot. That being said, let’s get to this week’s list and see how stories have unfolded since last week. Have a great day, everyone, and may the slams be with you.

Gunther lost to Cody Rhodes in their ***** le match last week on Friday Night Smackdown. Even with Sami Zayn as the referee, Gunther could not take advantage of any opportunity, leading to a loss for the Ring General. I’m hoping Gunther can now be fazed out of this spotlight, so we don’t have to see him as much.
Bron Breakker interfered in Je’Von Evans and Austin Theory’s match last week, after Evans turned down Logan Paul’s offer to join the Vision. After the melee, it was the Street Profits who made my evening up with the numbers. Going forward, it’s nice to see all of these wrestlers getting on TV time, while the WWE gears up for Night of Champions.
Trick Williams defeated Carmelo Hayes in their U.S Championship match on Smackdown last week. Of course, there were some shenanigans from Ricky Saints, but Williams prevailed in the end. Going forward, I can see a Triple-Threat Match for the ***** le, one last time, but after that, I want a new dog on the hunt for Summerslam.

Next up: August 5th in Perth. AC Milan and Inter will face each other far from San Siro in a major occasion for Australia, but not an entirely new one for the rest of the world. Over the years, official and friendly Milano derbies played outside of Italy have taken place in four different countries: Switzerland, China, USA and Saudi Arabia. The first-ever derby played outside of Italy took place in Chiasso, Switzerland, on October 18th 1908, just a few months after Inter's founding. It was the final of the Coppa Chiasso, a friendly tournament, that ended in a 2-1 victory for AC Milan. The Derby di Milano between AC Milan and Inter has also made its way to New York. The only ever Milano derby played in the Big Apple took place on June 29th 1969. The two sides met in a friendly for the New York City Trophy at the Yankee Stadium and the game ended 3-2 to Inter.
Forty years later, another summer friendly derby was played as part of the World Football Challenge tournament. The match took place at Gillette Stadium, near Boston, and ended in a 2-0 win for Inter. On August 6th 2011 in Beijing, China, the two sides met in the first official derby ever played outside Italy. It was the Supercoppa Italiana Final, held at Beijing National Stadium, the famous "Bird’s Nest", and AC Milan emerged victorious with a 2-1 win. The teams returned to China on July 25th 2015, this time in Shenzhen for a summer friendly in the International Champions Cup. The match is best remembered for Philippe Mexès' spectacular volley, with AC Milan winning 1-0. The two most recent meetings abroad were both Supercoppa Italiana Finals in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: Inter lifted the trophy in 2022, while AC Milan came out on top in 2025.
