For committed, patient long-term income investors, some of the best opportunities, in terms of both yield and payout growth, can be found in the energy patch.
The sector's status as a payout haven encompasses a broad range of names, from pipeline stocks to some of the world's largest oil companies. Many market participants opt for familiarity and reliability, which helps explain why ExxonMobil and Chevron are hits with dividend investors. The two largest U.S. domestic oil companies have dividend increase streaks of 43 and 39 years, respectively.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
To be sure, those are impressive runs, but barring any surprises, those companies are likely to continue raising their payouts at low-single-digit percentages. Income-hungry investors seeking rapid dividend growth should look to the midstream segment, home to Sunoco LP (NYSE: SUN). Indeed, this pipeline company has sunny dividend potential.
First, a housekeeping item. Sunoco LP is not the same as SunocoCorp LLC (NYSE: SUNC). However, the latter "owns a direct limited partner interest in Sunoco LP." Interestingly, Sunoco LP's general partner is owned by Energy Transfer, one of the most beloved large-cap names in the midstream income ******* e.

Nasser Hussain has criticised the umpires for curtailing the third day of the second Test between England and Pakistan in sunny conditions.
Saturday's play was heavily affected by the weather as rain fell in London, with only 24.5 overs possible amid a series of heavy showers as England swelled their lead to 357 runs.
The players were taken from the field for the final time just before 10 past five local time, with stumps called due to "bad light" at 6.30pm BST – with another hour of play in theory possible.
The decision of umpires Paul Reiffel and Allahuddien Paleker was met with boos from parts of the sparse crowd that remained with bright sunshine hitting the ground soon afterwards.
Play was abandoned at 6.30pm BST (PA)

There's something in the air when August comes around. Is it hot humid weather? Maybe it's the sounds of the insects, or birds, or the angle of the sun? But it's something. The memories come flooding back. Two-a-days, sweating, those god-awful morning conditioning runs. I thought I had gone out for track! 8-220's, 4-440's, 2-880's and a mile run under time or you repeat them. No, I'm not exaggerating. Then lunch with the team, a break, then afternoon practice. Sound like a Division I program? No, it was a small Single A high school, but the memories are deeply embedded in my soul. Every year it is the same when August begins.
There's something in the air; I can feel it! My first foray to old mountaineer field was in 1960 at old Mountaineer field and I still get that excitement in my chest just waiting; anticipating. Those memories: Being a student when we kicked that field goal to beat Pitt and rushed the field and yes, tearing down the goal post. Up to Sunnyside to celebrate! Was that the first fire-in-the-street?
It's been 221 days since the last college football game and-it-starts today, finally. I must wait 8 days for my favorite team to start but any football is better than none. As always, I have high hopes for my beloved Mountaineers! I have confidence in the coaching staff and their decisions to bring in this bunch of guys. Year 2 under Rich will mean improvement and they just might take a huge leap forward. Don't count them out but just remember it's year 2.
I'm looking forward to a MUCH-improved running game since the addition of Coach Trickett and a loaded running-back room, more speed on defense and a healthy QB room. Running the ball makes everything else easier and we need big plays out of the running game!
Have a great year, all of you Mountaineer fans, be safe and kind.

On August 10, 2026, Teledyne Technologies Incorporated (NYSE:TDY) agreed to acquire Varex Imaging for $18.90 a share in an all-cash deal valued at about $1.1 billion. It sent Varex Imaging Corporation (NASDAQ:VREX) shares up nearly 50% before the opening bell.
Teledyne is paying a large premium for a smaller X-ray components maker just as Varex posted a genuine earnings beat of its own. Is Teledyne buying real, complementary technology at a fair long-term price, or paying a steep premium right as Varex's turnaround was already starting to work?
CEO Robert Mehrabian said the companies serve similar customers with "uniquely complementary" products and minimal overlap. He noted Teledyne Technologies Incorporated (NYSE:TDY) doesn't make X-ray detectors suited for high-radiation environments like oncology the way Varex does. Both boards unanimously approved the deal, which is expected to close in early 2027.
Nearly a 50% one-day jump in Varex's stock shows the market sees this as a rich price for Teledyne to pay. Integrating Varex's X-ray business, which serves medical, security, and industrial markets, adds real complexity to Teledyne Technologies Incorporated (NYSE:TDY)'s existing operations.
CEO Sunny Sanyal said the deal marks "an exciting new chapter," giving Varex Imaging Corporation (NASDAQ:VREX) access to Teledyne's resources to accelerate use of its imaging technology. Varex also posted third-quarter adjusted profit of 31 cents a share, 10 cents ahead of **** yst estimates, after recovering tariff-related costs and generating $21 million in operating cash flow. It shows the business was already improving before the deal was announced.

Cancer is serious. Ryan Reynolds is not. Luckily his characteristic sense of humor, along with being true to his word, has helped shine a light on a sobering topic in a fun way. First, he made a friendly bet with his Welcome to Wrexham co-star Rob McElhenney of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia with whom he also co-owns the Welsh football club Wrexham A.F.C.
The bet? That McElhenney would not be able to learn Welsh, the official language of Wales, where their soccer team is located. The stakes? If Reynolds lost, he'd have to get a colonoscopy… and post the entire thing to YouTube. About 30 seconds into a YouTube upload **** led "Rob & Ryan Lead From Behind," McElhenney begins speaking in near-fluent Welsh.
Uh-oh. Colonoscopy it is.
Reynolds is an actor famous for hilarious hijinks. From his intense fictional feud with Hugh Jackman to performing epic pranks on talk shows, he is often the best thing on the internet for a good laugh. However, he is also not one to shy away from difficult conversations, particularly when it comes to health. So raising awareness about the importance of colonoscopies was, as he quipped, "enough motivation for me to let you in on a camera being shoved up my **** ."
Reynolds might have lost the bet, but his actions paid off. The procedure turned out to be lifesaving.

Fashion designer Victoria reposted a sweet family tribute from her 15-year-old that read: "My whole world," next to a photo of the pair posing against the backdrop of the yacht-filled ocean as part of their European holiday.
Soaking up the summer sun, Harper wore a white sundress with a breezy 90s-style A-line silhouette, spaghetti straps and an open back. Turning to the side to pose for the photo, the teenager showed off her straight blonde hair, lightened further by the sun's rays. She completed her look with dewy, glowing makeup, including a soft pink blush, and black heeled sandals.

ARDMORE, Pa. – While the term cathedral is used to describe golf's greatest venues, the East Course at Merion Golf Club is arguably its most revered chapel, set on approximately 120 acres packed with history and some of the best golf holes in the world.
A step into the converted farmhouse that now serves as Merion's intricate clubhouse signifies a step back in time, with the club's famed archive room as the main vehicle.
The small, windowless room, established by George Scudder and now chaired by historian and 19-time Merion club champ John Capers III, is the main repository of Merion's history. It includes over 4,000 books and artifacts, including the standard from Justin Rose's 2013 U.S. Open victory, the unwashed striped, Merion-logoed polo Edoardo Molinari wore in winning the 2005 U.S. Amateur final, aerial images from Bobby Jones' slam-completing triumph at the 1930 U.S. Amateur, even some old horseshoes dug out of this historic dirt.
Jack Whaley will now have to part with his beloved Yorkshire County team rain jacket.
After a run of warm and sunny days in northwest Philadelphia, English skies set over Merion for the 126th U.S. Amateur Championship final. Perfect for Whaley, a 22-year-old from Doncaster, England, who embraced the relentless rain and washed away a 2-up deficit after 19 holes to defeat Stanford's Jay Leng Jr., 4 and 3.

As Hurricane Lala drenched parts of the Hawaiian Islands, the calm remained at sunny Father Bray Athletic Complex.
By 1:30 p.m., Edison kicked off to host 'Iolani, and the Chargers from Huntington Beach, Calif., put a jolt into the Raiders with a 41-27 win at Eddie Hamada Field. Sam Thomson threw three touchdown passes, while running backs Brett Dempsen and Gavyn Degiacomo combined for 183 yards and three TDs on 21 carries.
It was a 27-0 lead before the home team began to find its footing. Edison played a mix of reserves and starters from beginning to end. 'Iolani coach Patrick Samsonas found solace in his team's in-game resilience.
"I feel wet. It's a wet game," he said of the gusty, rainy conditions by game's end. We battled in the second and that was the test. They answered some of the calls. That's a really good team in the CIF (California Interscholastic Federation). I'm proud of our guys for battling. We've got a bye week before we get another mainland team."

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, the Hollywood owners of English second-tier side Wrexham, have restated their ambition for the club to win the Championship **** le and so complete a remarkable journey from National League to the Premier League.
Wrexham begin their 2026/27 Championship campaign with a Welsh derby away to Cardiff on Monday, having narrowly missed out on a play-off spot last term after finishing seventh in the regular season.
They went into the final day in sixth place, but a 2-2 draw at home to Middlesbrough allowed Hull to leapfrog Wrexham into the play-offs, with the Tigers going on to win promotion to the Premier League.
Deadpool star Reynolds said he felt "obscene pride" at Wrexham's league finish and co-owner McElhenney has underlined their determination to reach the top flight after playing in the fifth tier of English football as recently as 2023.

It wasn't a particularly entertaining ordeal, but the Minnesota Vikings came away from their first preseason game with several positives. On a sunny day at MetLife Stadium, the Vikings set the tone early in a 13-10 win, offering optimism that their offseason goal of improving the run game could translate into on-field production.
Of course, improving the run game is only one factor in returning Minnesota's offense to prominence. Kevin O'Connell wanted improved quarterback play, and while Kyler Murray only threw three passes, Carson Wentz showed command of the offense that could lead one to believe that although one quarterback competition is settled, another could quietly be brewing.
Below are three instant takeaways from the Vikings' victory in their preseason opener.
Even O'Connell's most loyal defenders can't hide his team's deficiencies in the run game. Since taking over in 2022, Minnesota has ranked in the bottom 10 in rushing yards three times, never higher than 19th in 2024. The Vikings hired former Dolphins offensive coordinator Frank Smith to emphasize a wide-zone running scheme, hoping it would make teams think twice about doubling Justin Jefferson.
Minnesota's first drive gave us a glimpse of what could be coming. Aaron Jones and Jordan Mason combined for six runs for 44 yards, each breaking off a run of 15-plus yards on the drive. On top of the offensive line providing good rushing lanes, rookie fullback Max Bredeson helped Jones pop off for an 18-yard gain on the Vikings' first play from scrimmage.

A behemoth of a man came racing over on an electric bike. Big 99, DeForest Buckner, had media availability at the end of Colts training camp on Saturday night. Things were moved inside due to weather, but Buckner was as sunny as could be. He was all smiles as he talked to the media and described how he is back to feeling good which is music to Colts fans' ears.
This season wasn't to be taken for granted by Buckner, and there was a solid chance it might not have even happened. After sustaining a herniated disc in his neck in Week 9 which caused him to lose feeling in his upper body, Buckner fought his way back into the lineup in a late matchup against the 49ers. It was short-lived as he endured season ending surgery. It was a disappointing season for a man who rarely missed any time over his career.
Fast forward to the 2026 season, one that was up in the air, and Buckner is feeling back to his old self. He is a full participant in training camp, and while you might not see him in the preseason, he will be out there and ready Week 1. Once he got popped at practice and saw that he was ok, Buckner said it was all behind him at that point. The Colts better hope he is back to form because they struggled severely without him. The losing streak to end the season didn't have Buckner's absence alone to thank, but it certainly didn't help. The defense is a much different beast with Buckner in the middle.
DeForest Buckner's size, ability, and leadership are crucial to the Colts' success in 2026. Without him plugging up holes and taking on double teams, this defense will struggle. He has proven to be one of the most important and reliable pieces brought in outside of the draft. If Buckner is back to full strength, this defense will pose some problems for the rest of the NFL.

An award-winning Hollywood director's gift to a Los Angeles-area park apparently has one fatal flaw that park officials overlooked: under sunny California weather, it can literally burn you.
Last year, Ron Howard and his wife donated a Victorian-style love seat statue to Johnny Carson Park in Burbank. The "kissing chair" consists of two seats facing the opposite direction melded together and is worth $88,440, according to the city.
Ron Howard and his wife Cheryl donated a bronze "kissing chair" to a Los Angeles-area park where they used to date, celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. X/nickcarrscouts
However, a local resident shared on social media Friday that he couldn't actually sit in those chairs —unless he wanted to suffer burn scars.
That's because the seats, made of bronze, have no shade anywhere in sight.

Interest in Prince William's then-girlfriend, now the Princess of Wales (nee Kate Middleton), skyrocketed after the pair graduated from the University of St Andrews in 2005.
The pair had met while studying history of art and staying at St Salvator's Hall at the Scottish uni, but under the 'Gentleman's Agreement', the press had largely left them to enjoy their budding romance privately. In 2006, Kate, then 24, was a supportive girlfriend as she watched William compete in the Chakravarty Cup charity polo match at Ham Polo Club in Richmond.
Not only did her attendance draw focus, but so did the fact that she made it a family affair, asking her sister Pippa, then 22, to be her plus one for the sunny day out.
The siblings were spotted relaxing in deck chairs, with Pippa effortlessly dressing for the warm weather in a turquoise sundress. The fitted drop-waist accentuated her toned physique, while the spaghetti straps and swishy skirt ensured she remained cool.

Aug. 6—GRAND FORKS — The start of high school football in North Dakota is approaching rapidly.
Grand Forks Red River and Grand Forks Central both took the first major step toward Week 1 Thursday morning.
The Knights and Roughriders each held their first full preseason practice on a breezy, sunny day in Grand Forks. Red River practiced next to Cushman Field, while Central worked through drills at the practice field next to Purpur Arena.
"You go through so much in the offseason that when Day 1 finally rolls around, you're wondering, 'Did we do this, this and this?'" Knights head coach Jake Schauer said. "But it's just great to be back out here with the guys, a good crew that really knows how to work. We're excited for the season."
Both Grand Forks teams made the North Dakota Division AA playoffs in 2025 and lost in the quarterfinals. The Riders (4-6) suffered a 20-6 defeat to Minot North, while the Knights (7-3) were beaten 42-7 by the eventual state champion, Devils Lake.

Aug 5 (Reuters) - Sales of Eli Lilly's Zepbound and Mounjaro injectable weight-loss and diabetes drugs soared during the second quarter, easily beating Wall Street estimates and widening the gap with Danish rival Novo Nordisk.
The trillion-dollar ‌company also posted better-than-expected quarterly results and raised its full-year revenue forecast, and its shares jumped over 5% in early ‌trading.
The strong results are likely to reassure investors that demand for Lilly's GLP-1 treatments remains resilient despite pricing pressure and intensifying competition from Novo, which launched an oral version of its Wegovy weight-loss drug in the U.S. earlier this year.
Sales of diabetes drug Mounjaro rose 91% to $9.94 billion, beating ****** ysts' estimates, while obesity drug Zepbound brought in $4.93 billion, compared with expectations of $4.73 billion. The two drugs accounted for 64.7% of Lilly's revenue in the latest reported quarter.

It was a sunny, warmer day in St. Joe for Kansas City Chiefs training camp practice, the fifth of camp and the first in full pads.
The team came into Monday's practice fresh off the first off day since the full team arrived on the campus of Missouri Western State University. Here's the recap of Monday's practice:
Head coach Andy Reid spoke to the media after practice and provided details on the three active Chiefs who were unavailable on Monday: wide receivers Cyrus Allen and Xavier Worthy, and defensive end Ashton Gillotte.
As they have each day of practice, cornerback L'Jarius Sneed and wide receiver Rashee Rice took the field with the team in full uniform. Each participated with pads on, although Rice seemed to be held out of 11-on-11, full-team period work against the defense. Sneed seemed to be in the same boat, although I have noted his movement as closer to 100% comparatively to Rice.
While observing the full-team periods, star defensive tackle Chris Jones reminded fans of his dominance with a few disruptive, blow-by snaps.

It's the first game of August! Rejoice, San Francisco Giants fans …. the season won't go on much longer. The Giants are in sunny SoCal for this contest, as they play the third of four games against the San Diego Padres.
Right-hander Tyler Mahle takes the mound for the Giants, in what could very possibly be his final start with the team. The veteran has made 17 starts this year, and is 3-9 with a 4.96 ERA, a 4.41 FIP, and 80 strikeouts to 35 walks in 89 innings. After a rough start to the year, Mahle has been much better lately, and he was excellent his last time out, when he tossed six shutout frames against the Milwaukee Brewers. The Giants are likely hoping that his recent hot stretch will make him a tradable **** et ahead of Monday's deadline.
For the Padres, it's old foe Walker Buehler, a right-hander. The two-time All-Star, who tormented the Giants for years while on the Los Angeles Dodgers, is trying to get his career back on track but is having a rough go of it. In 21 starts this year, the 32-year old is 6-5 with a 5.13 ERA, a 4.35 FIP, and 91 strikeouts to 42 walks in exactly 100 innings. In his last start, against the Miami Marlins, Buehler gave up three runs (two earned) in 5.1 innings.
Enjoy the game, everyone!
