One ESPN ****** yst claims to have some insight on the biggest story surrounding the Detroit Red Wings.
In an episode of the Frankly Hockey podcast featuring NHL ****** ysts John Buccigross and Frank Seravalli published on Friday, Oct. 16, Buccigross said he had information that indicated the Red Wings will soon be making a blockbuster deal.
"I think there's going to be a trade within seven to 10 days in Detroit," he said.
Seravalli then asked Buccigross to confirm that he was talking about disgruntled star Dylan Larkin, to which Buccigross said yes, "that's coming."
Larkin's trade request became public knowledge on June 4, with the native Michigander having played a big role on the Red Wings since his rookie season in 2015-16. About a month after the news broke, the Red Wings parted ways with longtime general manager Steve Yzerman and named Shawn Horcoff the interim GM on Sept. 15.

A day after a disappointing outcome at the Solheim Cup, U.S. captain Angela Stanford has a new gig.
Stanford has joined the TCU women's golf team as an ***** istant coach.
TCU's website said: "The greatest player in TCU women's golf history is back in purple and white."
Stanford, who is from nearby Saginaw, Texas, about 15 miles away from Ft. Worth, was a four-time All-American for the Horned Frogs from 1996-2000, the only four-time All-American in program history. Stanford holds the school record for wins with 10.
"We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Angela Stanford back home to TCU as our third coach," said TCU head coach Ravaioli-Larkin. "As one of the most decorated and respected figures in golf history, her transition from a legendary professional career to our coaching staff is a monumental moment for our program. Angela's elite competitive experience as a major champion, combined with her leadership as a U.S. Solheim Cup captain, will provide our student-athletes with unparalleled mentorship. She embodies what it means to be a Horned Frog, and her passion for TCU will undoubtedly elevate our team to new heights."

The Montreal Canadiens still have one major problem if they want to pursue Dylan Larkin: the Detroit Red Wings center has not approved Montreal as a trade destination.
That has not stopped an intriguing Canadiens prospect from entering the conversation.
TVA Sports reporter Nicolas Cloutier recently pointed to Michael Hage, Montreal's 2024 first-round pick, as a player Detroit knows particularly well and would have interest in. Hage plays at the University of Michigan, putting him directly in the Red Wings' scouting backyard. He also has an unusual connection to Detroit's front office through Michigan teammate Will Horcoff, the son of Red Wings executive Shawn Horcoff.
Cloutier said he is convinced Detroit knows Hage well and believes the Red Wings would be interested in him, according to a report relaying his comments on BPM Sports.
That does not mean Hage has been offered for Larkin or that the teams are actively negotiating.

Mizzou volleyball found its rhythm early and never let it go Saturday, sweeping Wichita State 25-19, 25-13, 25-18 to close out another dominant performance at the Mizzou Tournament.
The Tigers controlled the match with a balanced offensive attack and stingy defense, finishing with a .347 hitting percentage while holding Wichita State to .177. Mizzou used contributions throughout its lineup, with Grace O'Reilly, Kimani Johnson and the Tigers' middle blockers helping fuel the three-set victory.
"Always great to play at Hearnes," Mizzou coach Dawn Sullivan said. "I thought it was a team kind of game tonight, and it was really fun to, one, just kind of see them find their rhythm out there."
Johnson set the tone in the opening set, recording five kills on six attempts as Mizzou pulled away for a 25-19 win. After Wichita State cut the Tigers' lead to 12-11, Mizzou responded with a block from Ceylin Kuyan and Lauren Larkin before gradually rebuilding its advantage.
Paige Felder sealed the first set with a kill, giving the Tigers an early 1-0 match lead.

3 burning Senators questions entering 2026-27 NHL season appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Ottawa Senators had a lot of change happen this offseason. It seemed as if things would operate as normal until a few days before the NHL Draft. Then, the Senators traded Brady Tkachuk in a stunning blockbuster deal with the Florida Panthers.
Tkachuk trade rumors weren't anything new, to be fair. There was once a midseason report about a trade to the New York Rangers that had to be shot down, for instance. What was different here was that there was no real speculation. It wasn't like the Dylan Larkin situation, where a trade was requested publicly.
But a trade was requested behind the scenes, and things were kept quiet until the trade went down. The Senators moved on from their captain and are officially entering a new era of their franchise. What that looks like remains to be seen for now.

With the NHL season just around the corner, the Detroit Red Wings are entering training camp with major questions surrounding one of their biggest names.
The Red Wings announced Friday that Dylan Larkin will report to training camp next week, despite requesting a trade during the offseason. However, the 30-year-old forward will no longer serve as Detroit's captain, leaving his long-term future with the franchise uncertain.

Detroit confirmed that the 2026-27 season will begin without a captain. The decision comes after Larkin reportedly asked the organization to trade him following the Red Wings' failure to qualify for the playoffs for a 10th consecutive season.

Well. Another pathetic showing from a St. Louis Cardinals bullpen resulted in a series sweep against a mediocre opponent. This team has constantly shown it plays to the level of their competition, but the series against the Giants went too far.
After winning five of their last six series on the road, including taking the season series against the Dodgers, the Cardinals had momentum against the miserable Giants only to see the season pretty much come to an end in San Francisco. To get over the emotions this three-game set made me feel, I dusted off the podcast equipment and finally recorded a new episode of Cardinals on My Time.
Joining me on the episode was returning guest Matt Blaker, and nothing against Matt, but I was pumped to have Tanner Larkins joining the pod as well. Chances are, you have no idea who that is and I just came across his profile earlier this week. Tanner is the front man for a band called Bayview Lane and his two singles instantly caught my attention. Add on the fact he was rocking a Cardinals hat in his videos while being from the Chicago area like me, he was the perfect guest to have on with Matt and me.
In the episode, we talked about the rollercoaster ride of the season, roster management, but also focused on the future. To me, the most frustrating point of this season was the roster management, be it playing short-handed through injuries or with a seemingly always "taxed" bullpen. The bullpen conversation was made worse after this series, but the problems revert all the way back to the offseason despite the early season success and breakout of certain guys.
One thing we talked about was that this bullpen creation, or lack thereof, was done intentionally. That is one of the more upsetting things to me (and keep your "this is a rebuild" comments to yourself) because this was a clear hole all year. Of course, bullpens are a ***** shoot every year, but you're telling me adding another one or two higher profile relievers would prevent the rebuild from happening? Worst case scenario, you pull the plug on those arms in a season that doesn't matter, middle case, you flip them at the deadline, best case, you're actually competing for a playoff spot instead of blowing 37 leads.

Dixie gets victory in overtime to grab first win of season
Dixie got its first win of the season in dramatic fashion last Friday, grabbing the win in overtime 35-34 against Cedar.
With seven seconds left in regulation and trailing by seven, Dixie quarterback Robbie Bennett found Riker Muhlestein in the end zone on a short 3-yard pass to force overtime.
In overtime, Muhlestein threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Jennings Larkin to claim the team's first win of the season.
Dixie head coach William Leibert could not be prouder of his team and the fight it showed throughout the game.

Nebraska volleyball (4-0) will play in one of baseball's legendary venues on Sunday night. The Cornhuskers will face the Missouri Tigers in the Big Ten/SEC Volleyball Challenge at Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs.
Since Volleyball Day in Nebraska in 2023, the Huskers have played in five different professional stadiums across the last four seasons. This match at Wrigley Field against Missouri is the sixth professional venue for the Huskers to play in since 2023.
This will be the 79th meeting all-time between these two schools, with Nebraska holding a 74-3-1 lead in the series. The last time the Huskers and the Tigers played was a Nebraska sweep in the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2023.
Nebraska setter Bergen Reilly was named Big Ten Setter of the Week last week. The senior averages 10.70 ******* ists and 2.10 digs per set.
Missouri middle blocker Lauren Larkin leads the SEC with a hitting percentage of .564. This is Larkin's first season with the Tigers, after spending the last two seasons with Utah State.

September is upon us. For most fans, that means that training camp is almost underway and the season is right around the corner. For us Red Wings fans, this September begins with a bleak outlook. Training camp begins Sept. 17, the team is without a GM, and Dylan Larkin's future with the Red Wings is riddled with uncertainty.
The simple truth is we don't know Larkin's future. Reports that Dylan Larkin requested a trade out of Detroit came in early June this year to the shock of many fans. Larkin has five years remaining on his contract with a cap hit of $8.7 million AAV. This attractive contract increases Larkin's value, but as of now, no trade has been made. With the GM seat still empty, it is very unlikely he will be dealt before training camp.
No general manager means no decisions regarding hockey operations are being made. A Larkin trade or reconciliation is not going to happen until a new GM is chosen. Simon Edvinsson's contract will also remain in limbo until this happens. With less than three weeks until the beginning of training camp, the outlook for the Red Wings doesn't look great. But let us explore some positives and dampen the darkness.
Moritz Seider doesn't show any hints of slowing down, and his aspirations for becoming one of the league's best defensemen are without question. The big German led the team with a +15 plus/minus and 180 blocked shots last season.
"I want to establish myself as a guy that people are not happy to see on the ice," Seider said during the European Player Media Tour. "I think that's one of the biggest compliments you could get is that people are not happy to see you, in a good way."

The Minnesota Wild and Dylan Larkin continue to look like a terrific match.
That may be exactly why this trade has become so frustrating.
Minnesota needs the type of center Larkin already is. Larkin has reportedly approved the Wild as a destination. Detroit has a captain who requested a trade and an obvious potential partner sitting in the Western Conference.
Now for the inconvenient part: What exactly is Minnesota supposed to give the Detroit Red Wings that makes them better after trading their No. 1 center?
A fresh examination of the NHL rumor market from Bleacher Report again puts the Larkin situation under the microscope, with Minnesota remaining one of the obvious landing spots. Bleacher Report's latest NHL trade-rumor **** ysis

Detroit Red Wings defenseman Moritz Seider doesn't know what he can do to help resolve the team's search for a new GM. He wishes that captain Dylan Larkin would stay in Detroit, while also accepting that Larkin is within his rights to want to leave.
Most of all, though, Seider would like to find a way to keep the Red Wings awake and alert during the most important stage of the NHL season.
Seider says he's had enough of the team "falling asleep in the home stretch" and missing the NHL playoffs.

Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., an outspoken critic of Israel, was set to headline a rally in South Florida boosting three progressive Democratic candidates before the Jewish-owned venue hosting the event backed out a day before.
The Chomp the Oligarchy rally to support two U.S. House candidates and one Senate candidate was scheduled for Friday night at The Venue in Fort Lauderdale, just four days before Florida's primary election.
State Rep. Michael Gottlieb, a Democrat, posted Thursday morning calling the event "anti-Jew," while also accusing House candidates Elijah Manley and Oliver Larkin, along with state Rep. Gottlieb then said Tlaib "has by far the deepest record of antisemitic allegations and is being brought here to help these candidates raise funds for their campaigns."

Detroit — The stars are set to take their swings at the Rocket Classic.
Several local sports celebrities will play alongside PGA Tour golfers at Detroit Golf Club during Wednesday's annual pro-am tournament, which is open to the public and free for fans.
Among the celebs scheduled to play are Lions legends Barry Sanders and Calvin Johnson, new Michigan head football coach Kyle Whittingham, former Michigan State basketball greats-turned-broadcasters Greg Kelser and Steve Smith, current Red Wing Alex DeBrincat, former Lion Joique Bell and Oakland head men's basketball coach Greg Kampe.
There might be more celebs participating, but those are the ones Rocket officials have publicized. Notably, Red Wings captain (for now) Dylan Larkin's name isn't on the list. He's played in previous pro-ams, including last year's. Larkin hasn't spoken publicly since requesting a trade earlier this offseason.
During the pro-am, four amateur golfers team up with a PGA Tour professional in a handicapped best-ball tournament. Each team gets ***** igned two PGA Tour players, with each of the pros playing nine holes. It's a pretty casual setting for the pros and celebs, and one of the best times for fans to score autographs during Rocket Classic week.

EXCLUSIVE - Far-left Democratic congressional candidate Oliver Larkin of Florida says he supports abolishing the U.S. Senate, agrees with socialist New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu should be arrested during his upcoming trip to the U.S., and refers to Israel's ruling coalition as a "religious supremacist regime."
Larkin, who is challenging Democratic Rep. Jared Moskowitz in next month's Florida primary, is one of just four congressional candidates endorsed by the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA).
The 33-year-old Larkin, a veteran of progressive champion Sen. Bernie Sanders' 2016 Democratic presidential campaign, is also the only DSA-endorsed House candidate running in one of the roughly two dozen key swing districts that will determine if Republicans hold onto their razor-thin majority in the midterm elections.
Moskowitz, who is running for re-election in Florida's newly redrawn 25th Congressional District, a Broward County-anchored seat in the southeastern corner of the red-leaning state, is heavily supported by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC). He currently holds a polling and fundraising lead over Larkin.

The Detroit Red Wings have been rejected by one of their few reliable scorers, taking a hit to their 2026-27 roster.
Patrick Kane rejected the Wings' attempts to re-sign him for a third consecutive summer and instead entered free agency, where the 37-year-old found an appealing offer from the Chicago Blackhawks. Kane is going back to where his career began with a two-year deal.
Kane sounded like there was a chance he would stay when the season ended, but that was before news emerged that Dylan Larkin - who shares an agent, Pat Brisson, with Kane, had requested a trade.
A chaotic Red Wings summer continued July 15 with the news general manager Steve Yzerman would be moving to an advisor role.
Kane had 16 goals and 41 ******* ists in 67 games in 2025-26. Even in the twilight of his career, Kane proved he's still got it. Post-Olympics, as many skaters on the Wings faltered, Kane was their second-leading scorer with 25 points in 24 games (trailing only Alex DeBrincat's 28 points).

The Detroit Red Wings received a major Jason Robertson trade update after an NHL insider shared new insight into the Dallas Stars forward's future. Robertson has been at the center of trade speculation this offseason, and the latest report offers a clearer picture of where things stand. As Detroit continues searching for another impact scorer, the update could have significant implications for the Red Wings.
Robertson has been linked to several NHL teams, and Detroit stands out right now. The Stars are on Dylan Larkin's trade destination list, while Robertson looks for a new contract extension. In fact, one NHL insider has provided a major update on a potential trade with Robertson, as Dallas pursues Larkin.
The Stars are believed to be willing to trade Robertson to Detroit for Larkin, as reported by The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta. The potential deal would require additional pieces, resulting in some roadblocks. One includes whether the 26-year-old forward would sign a contract extension with the Red Wings.
Robertson spends part of his offseason in Detroit and has been linked to the organization for several years. However, it is uncertain if Robertson would want to sign an extension with the organization, as it continues to push toward breaking the NHL's longest Stanley Cup Playoff drought right now.
The Red Wings are dealing with Larkin's trade request, and the best outcome would be trading for Robertson. It takes two teams to tango, so it is very positive that Dallas would be willing to deal its superstar forward. However, the biggest question is whether the 26-year-old forward would want a contract extension.

Dylan Larkin requested a trade.
The Detroit Red Wings seem in no hurry to honor that request.
And while that's strong-willed of the Red Wings, it might also create a problem in the interim.
The reality is that it'll be hard to count on Larkin for the long run, even if Detroit decides to hold so firm that it doesn't trade him at all before the 2026-27 season starts.

The trade speculation surrounding Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin continues to evolve.
According to MLive's Ansar Khan, Larkin has expanded the list of teams he would waive his full no-trade clause to join. The latest addition is the Dallas Stars, who now join the Florida Panthers, Minnesota Wild, and Vegas Golden Knights as potential destinations.
Even with another team added to the list, Khan noted that a deal doesn't appear to be any closer.
Reports connecting Larkin to Dallas first surfaced in late June, and Khan's latest report adds more context to the situation.
The Stars are now reportedly among the four teams Larkin would approve in a trade. While that gives Steve Yzerman one additional trade partner to work with, it also highlights how limited Detroit's options remain.

They're calling it the Landon DuPont draft, the early consensus No. 1 prospect with the University of Michigan for the 2027 NHL Draft.
DuPont, a 6-foot, 190-pound defenseman who committed to the Wolverines after playing two seasons with the Everett Silvertips of the Western Hockey League, is expected to be selected first overall by the Calgary Flames in The Athletic's 2027 mock draft.
The Red Wings, based on the team's future odds with or without captain Dylan Larkin, are expected to drop to seventh-worst (25th overall) in the league after finishing 16th overall and out of the playoffs last year.

The marks are in after two days of NHL free agency and the Detroit Red Wings have failed to impress NHL experts.
Daily Faceoff and the ******* ociated Press rank the Red Wings among the losers in free agency despite the additions of forwards Viktor Arvidsson, Keegan Kolesar and goalie Daniil Tarasov.
"Viktor Arvidsson is a good signing in a vacuum coming off a resurgent season. But zoom out and we have a team riding 10 consecutive playoff misses, sitting on captain Dylan Larkin's trade request waiting on the right deal.
"Do additions like Arvidsson and grinder Keegan Kolesar mean anything in the context of a team whose direction is unknown? If Steve Yzerman was not Steve Yzerman, he'd have been fired from the Red Wings GM chair twice by now. What a disaster his tenure has been."
"Detroit has not made the playoffs since 2016, now the NHL's longest drought. And there is lingering uncertainty with captain Dylan Larking wanting out. The Red Wings' muddled path forward was evident Wednesday with the signing of Viktor Arvidsson and trade pickup of Keegan Kolesar representing their most notable additions.

Red Wings' Dylan Larkin trade update feels like trouble could be brewing originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Dylan Larkin has requested a trade from the Detroit Red Wings.
Their front office, led by Steve Yzerman, doesn't seem to be in a hurry to get a deal done.
Larkin has a no-movement clause, which means he has to approve any destination. The reports indicate that Larkin likes the Panthers, Golden Knights and Wild.
Of course, that makes things that much harder on the Red Wings. If they've only got three teams to facilitate offers from for their captain, it's a lot more difficult to reach an agreement.
