But, only three knockouts.

By Diana Novak Jones
Aug 10 (Reuters) - A U.S. appeals court on Monday allowed thousands of lawsuits to move forward against Meta Platforms, Alphabet's Google, ByteDance's TikTok and Snap Inc's Snapchat over claims they designed their products to ‌be addictive to young users.
The San Francisco-based 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals rejected an appeal by Meta and TikTok seeking to overturn a lower court ‌ruling requiring them to face more than 3,000 lawsuits filed in federal court, saying the companies had appealed too early.
The companies had argued that Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act of 1996 — which generally shields online companies from claims over content posted by their users — also bars lawsuits claiming they failed to warn the public about the addictive nature of their platforms.

Brooke Shields showed that a little gray hair and a few wrinkles are nothing to be embarrassed about as she took part in the internet's "bully" trend.
The 61-year-old actress joined her daughter Grier Henchy for a playful TikTok challenge on August 8 that showed her being mockingly insulted to see how she would respond.
Rather than getting defensive, Shields responded to each jab with quick-witted answers that showed just how comfortable she is in her own skin.
"OK, I'm going to insult you like a bully, and you need to tell me how you would respond," Henchy, 20, told her mom in the video.
She then playfully attacked her by telling her she had a lot of grey hair, but Shields replied it was "a sign of maturity".

Aug 10 (Reuters) - A U.S. appeals court on Monday allowed thousands of lawsuits to move forward against Meta Platforms, Alphabet's Google, ByteDance's TikTok, and other social media companies over claims they designed their products to be addictive to ‌young users.
The San Francisco-based 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals rejected the companies' bid to reverse a lower court's ruling forcing them ‌to face more than 3,000 lawsuits over the claims filed in federal court, concluding that the appeal came too early in the litigation.
The defendants, which also include Snap Inc's Snapchat, had argued that Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act of 1996 -- which generally shields online companies from claims over content posted by their users - also bars lawsuits claiming they failed to warn the public about the addictive nature of their platforms.
Most appeals come after a case has concluded with a ruling or a verdict. Meta had argued that Section 230 provided it broad immunity and that it should be able to appeal the lower court's decision immediately. But ‌the 9th Circuit said Section 230 provides a defense to liability, not immunity from lawsuits, so the appeal was premature.

DAZN, 5:00 am ET Teremoana Teremoana vs DeAndre Savage
From Gold Coast, Australia. Teremoana was a breakout from the 2024 Paris Olympics, arguably the 2nd best in the big boy division. Unfortunately, he caught a bad bracket and had to face professional Olympian Bakhodir Jalolov before the medal rounds. But, he earned himself enough attention to kickstart a pro career, and headlines the show in just his 12th professional outing. Savage is a 35 year old American with an 11-1 (11 KO) record, and much will be said about that in the commentary buildup to the main event. But, he's fought most of his career in Colombia and Mexico, and his two fights in the USA resulted in a no contest and his only pro loss. Michael Zerafa appears in support here against BoxRec's 194th ranked middleweight, Alejandro Ortiz. Teremoana is very exciting… But, a 5 am Wednesday start for a relatively unknown prospect isn't exactly a live coverage gold mine. So, this will be a follow along thread in The Feed!, and I'd expect at least one or two of the staffers here to jump in for the main event.
From Johnson City, Tennessee. It's the greatest event in the boxing-adjacent business, and arguably one of the greatest sporting shows of any kind in modern America. If you're new to the Brawl, here's the recap of Brawl #13 . Dozens of amateur fights with three one-minute rounds, fast pace, lots of action and excitement, and an unconventional but delightful commentary team guiding you through it all. The main event here features Frankie LaPenna, a Michigan man who apparently got online famous doing videos while wearing a fake ****** , taking on brawl regular Sasquatch. Catfish Cooley is out from commentary again, with Stalekracker, a former police officer who now cooks Cajun food online to promote his thriving spice business and has a vibe that can best be described as a hybrid of Guy Fieri and Dog the Bounty Hunter, subbing in as a guest. Many beloved favorites return, including Tennessee Cornbread, Lil' Smokey, Man Bear Pig vs Hook Hogan, Big Daddy T, and Lil' Terry fighting Lil' Fire after Fire knocked out Terry's brother Larry in 10 seconds in the last brawl. It's $22.99, and it's the best entertainment value you'll ever get.
ON THE UNDERCARD: Let's spotlight some exciting new names, shall we? How about The Intubator? Can House Arrest handle the Macho Man? Any interest in The Toothless ****** assin or Take-A-Shot Brandi? Wet Willie? One Leg Big Ed? Discount Destroyer? Mullet Trash? And, which will be the lady fight of the night? Throat Goat vs Big Thumper? Or 1st Class White Trash vs Trainwreck Tracy?
From Atlanta, Georgia, for Scott's WBC and WBA middleweight ****** les. SOUTH BEND — Everyone ***** ociated with Notre Dame football is still reveling in the newness of Shields Family Hall, the mammoth football facility that opened on July 31 ahead of fall training camp.
"I'm still learning the building," senior safety and team captain Adon Shuler said Tuesday at Notre Dame Stadium. "I keep joking around with Drayk (Bowen) like, 'We need a map.' That's how big the building is."
Officially listed at more than 150,000 square feet and built at an estimated cost of more than $100 million, the facility replaces the 21-year-old Guglielmino Athletics Complex, which had housed Notre Dame's football offices and training facilities in its 97,000 square feet.
The move to Shields represents "a huge upgrade," Shuler said, calling it "a breath of fresh air" amid the dog days of August.
"It's just humbling," he added. "I haven't really been able to enjoy the whole thing yet, but we're going to be in there all day and night during camp.

He picked up the injury in Dale's pre-season friendly with Halifax Town last Tuesday.
Jenkins, 24, followed manager Ian Watson to the League Two club from South Shields this summer.
"It's the worst possible news," Watson told the club website.
"He's pretty much done everything that you can do inside the knee, which is heartbreaking for him. It was a dream move, and I thought he showed really quickly that he was more than capable at the level."

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump and the Justice Department are asking the Supreme Court to toss an $83 million defamation verdict won by writer E. Jean Carroll after she accused him of ****** ual ****** ault, saying he can't be sued for comments he made while he was president.
It's the second time Trump has asked the justices to nix damages awarded by a jury to Carroll, a longtime advice columnist and former TV talk show host. The Supreme Court refused in June to hear his appeal of another verdict, for $5 million, that found him liable for ****** ual abuse and defamation.
The latest case centers on comments Trump made during his first term as president. The Justice Department wants to invoke the Westfall Act, which shields government employees from being sued for doing their jobs.
"Absent this Court's intervention, the sitting President is facing nearly a hundred million dollars of personal liability for conduct that was well within the scope of his federal office," federal attorneys wrote. "That alone deserves this Court's attention."
The documents were reviewed Wednesday by The ****** ociated Press and expected to be formally docketed with the court shortly.

A single executive certificate at a top business school can run well into five figures. A week at a professional conference with airfare and hotel can easily clear several thousand dollars. But lifelong learning does not have to mean elite programs and corporate travel. It can also mean finishing a college degree, taking community college classes for personal interest, hiring a language tutor, buying trade books, or keeping an annual industry pass. Stacked and repeated for decades, learning can become a major discretionary line item in a curious person's budget.

Ray J and Orlando Brown are already giving fans plenty to talk about ahead of their upcoming boxing match. A video circulating across social media shows the two entertainers getting into what social media users are calling a "heated argument" during a press conference promoting their scheduled fight on the undercard of Claressa Shields' upcoming event in Atlanta. What began as a routine face-off quickly spiraled into a bizarre and chaotic moment that left attendees visibly stunned and sent the internet into a frenzy.
In footage shared online, Brown and Ray J are seen standing face-to-face at the promotional event before tensions appear to escalate.
Several people seated at the press conference table turned around to watch as the confrontation unfolded, while others attempted to keep the situation under control. The exact details of what sparked the disagreement remain unclear, but the clip quickly gained traction online as fans reacted to the unexpected showdown.
Many viewers appeared less concerned about the argument itself and more entertained by the unusual dynamic between the two longtime entertainers. One commenter wrote, "You can't make this up [laughing face emoji] I never thought Ray J vs. Orlando brown." Another joked, "Nurse, they are at it again [laughing face emoji]."
A third user compared the moment to a crossover episode from two iconic 2000s television shows, writing, "'The Moesha' 'That's So Raven' crossover episode." Others poked fun at the participants' ages, with one commenter adding, "Men in their 40's showing out nowadays!"

Jermall Charlo says he’s aiming to win another world ****** le, this time at 168 lbs, and that he has belief he’ll be able to come back from another spell on the sidelines and continue to dominate.
Charlo will face Koen Mazoudier on July 25 in Australia, part of the Errol Spence vs Tim Tszyu undercard.
“I’m one of the few fighters that have barely lost any rounds in my career, let alone lost a fight,” he told PBC from training camp. “It’s my game plan to just go out there and dominate. If [Mazoudier] makes the wrong move, he’s gonna get knocked out.”
Charlo, 36, says he’s putting his trust in trainer Ronnie Shields to study and prepare the game plan, a move he notes is unusual, as he usually likes to study opponents himself.
“I want to go for another world ****** le in a third weight division. I feel a lot more comfortable at 168,” Charlo said. “It really doesn’t matter who they put in front of me, I feel like I’m gonna have my advantages in this division. I’m planning to make this quarter of my career the best one.”

In 2025, the NFL began outfitting the jerseys of the prior year's award winners with gold shields. This year, a pair of Rams will be wearing them.
The gold shields go to the reigning NFL MVP, the offensive player of the year, the defensive player of the year, the offensive rookie of the year, and the defensive rookie of the year.
This year, the five awards that will be acknowledged with gold shields were won by Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford (MVP), Seahawks receiver Jaxon Smith-Njgiba (OPOY), then-Browns defensive end Myles Garrett (DPOY), Panthers receiver Tetairoa McMillan (OROY), and Browns linebacker Carson Schwesinger (DROY).
With Garrett being traded to the Rams, L.A. will have both Stafford and Garrett wearing the gold shields. (If Garrett hadn't been traded, the 5-12 Browns would have two defensive players wearing gold shield).
The gold shields are hard to notice, since the shield on each jersey is small. The issue landed caught our eye on a slow Sunday because the Seahawks have posted an image of Smith-Njigba in his new jersey.

Claressa Shields will return to the middleweight division to face unified WBC and WBA ******* leholder Kaye Scott.
The fight will stream live on DAZN on Saturday, August 15, from State Farm Arena in Atlanta.
The 31-year-old Shields (18-0, 3 KO) last fought as a middleweight in 2023, when she shut out Maricela Cornejo over 10 rounds. Since then, she's fought as a "heavyweight," which has been functionally the same as fighting as a light heavyweight in women's boxing, as Shields has never weighed in over a 175 lb limit. Her 2024 win over Vanessa Lepage-Joanisse was for both a heavyweight and light heavyweight ******* le, even.
Shields has run into the problem of running out of interesting opposition, which comes from the fact that she is simply drastically better than the talent around her at the weights she can make. Her world ******* le journey as a professional has seen her go from 168 to 160 to 154, then back to 160, then 175, and now back down to 160 as she looks to find suitable opponents from a field that has run thin, at least in terms of people she hasn't already beaten once or twice.
Scott is a 42-year-old Australian with a pro record of 5-1-1 (0 KO). She lost her first bid for a world ******* le in late 2024, when Desley Robinson beat her to win the vacant IBF middleweight ******* le. She then fought Olivia Curry in September 2025 for the vacant WBC and WBA ******* les, and that fight went to a draw.
