The PGA Tour has landed a new ******* le sponsor for one of its oldest events.
Just days after the completion of this year's Wyndham Championship in Greensboro, North Carolina, the Tour announced on Wednesday that Raymond James, a wealth management company based in St. Petersburg, Florida, will take over as the ******* le sponsor of the event beginning in 2027, and the tournament will be contested as part of the PGA Tour Championship Series beginning in 2028 as part of a multi-year agreement.
As one of the longest-running stops on Tour, the Greensboro-area event has been a mainstay on the schedule since its inception in 1938. In a nod to its original name, GO by Raymond James will be contested at Sedgefield Country Club from Aug. 2-8, 2027, as a full-field event.
"The PGA Tour's Greensboro event has one of the richest histories in men's professional golf, and we are proud to continue building on its longstanding legacy and local charitable impact with the support of our new partners at Raymond James," said Dhruv Prasad, PGA Tour chief commercial officer in a statement. "Greensboro has supported the PGA Tour for nearly nine decades, and we are excited to launch this new chapter by bringing the best players in the world to the Piedmont Triad region."

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) — Michael Brennan made five straight birdies to pull away from Beau Hossler and close with a 6-under 64 to win the Wyndham Championship and reach the PGA Tour's lucrative postseason.
Brennan came into the final tournament of the regular season at No. 105 in the FedEx Cup. Now his season gets extended by at least one week after his second PGA Tour ***** le in two years. The FedEx Cup playoffs start Thursday with the FedEx St. Jude Championship at the TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tennessee. Only the top 70 players advance, and Brennan shot up to No. 47.
Jackson Koivun, who left Auburn in June and won the 3M Open in only his third start, narrowly hung on to the 70th spot and goes from college to the postseason in only two months.
Brennan made birdie on the final hole to finish at 22-under 258, matching the tournament record at Sedgefield shot three other times, most recently last year by Wake Forest grad Cameron Young.
Ben James, the No. 1 player from the PGA Tour University ranking who has a card already secure for 2027, fell out of contention on Saturday but roared back with a 61 to finish third.

Michael Brennan fired a six-under par 64 to win the Wyndham Championship on Sunday, taking his second PGA Tour **** le in the final regular-season event before the FedEx Cup playoffs.
The 24-year-old American closed with a 13-foot birdie putt at the 18th hole to finish on 22-under 258 and defeat compatriot Beau Hossler by three strokes.
Brennan, whose other PGA **** le came last October at the Bank of Utah Championship on a sponsor's exemption, took home $1.53 million from the $8.5 million purse on offer at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Brennan reeled off five birdies in a row Sunday to seize command, a run that began with an eight-foot birdie putt at the fourth hole and included a birdie at the par-three seventh where he missed an ace by six inches.
He made bogey at 11 after a tee shot into the right rough but sank a testy five-foot par putt at the par-three 12th and answered with an eight-foot birdie putt at 13.

Golfer Michael Brennan is just a couple years into his professional golf career, and he's already had some major moments to be proud of on the PGA Tour.
Sunday was certainly one of them.
Brennan was able to hold off Beau Hossler and win the Wyndham Championship in Sunday's final round at Sedgefield Country Club in North Carolina. It was his second PGA Tour win. But as Brennan was taking in the win, his mother, Shannon, was quick to remind him what that victory also meant:
He's going to the Masters.

Keegan Bradley's season came to an end Sunday with a 2-under 68 at the Wyndham Championship. Bradley began the week 72nd in FedExCup points and is projected to remain outside the playoff cutline.
That ends a run of 15 consecutive appearances in the playoffs, which was the longest-active streak after Jason Day missed the cut this week to snap his stretch of 18 straight.
"Yeah, it was a tough year. It was a tough – it's been a tough like year and a half," Bradley said. "I'm looking forward to getting home and resetting and coming out next year a little fresher maybe. I got off to such a terrible start this year. Next year hopefully will be better."
Coming off a year in which he won once and captained the U.S. Ryder Cup team, Bradley missed three of his first five cuts in 2026 and didn't have a finish better than T-12 all season.
He needed a low score Sunday at Sedgefield Country Club to have a shot at Memphis, and birdied Nos. 5, 6, 8 and 9. Unfortunately, he also made double bogey at the par-3 seventh. The back nine consisted of two birdies and two bogeys, including a dropped shot at the last.

Brooks Koepka is, understandably, frustrated.
Koepka officially wrapped up his first season back on the PGA Tour on Sunday with a final-round 70 at the Wyndham Championship in North Carolina. When he hit the clubhouse, he was tied for 68th at 3-under on the week, nearly 20 shots back from the leaders at the time.
That finish means that Koepka, a five-time major championship winner who once topped the Official World Golf Rankings, will miss out on the FedExCup Playoffs entirely. Koepka is projected to finish well back from the top 70 in the season-long standings list. Only the top 70 in the FedExCup standings will make it into the field for next week's FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis, which is the first of the three playoff events.
"I think it's pretty pathetic that I can't get through," Koepka said after his round at Sedgefield Country Club. "[I've had] zero top 10s basically in two years. To be in the prime of your career and be as good as I think I am, I think that's very pathetic, disappointing."

After failing to advance to the FedExCup Playoffs, Brooks Koepka did not mince words.
"I think it's pretty pathetic that I can't get through," Koepka said after carding an even-par 70 Sunday morning at Sedgefield Country Club to wrap up a 74-70 weekend at the Wyndham Championship.
Koepka shared 70th place when he finished his round, well shy of the minimum solo-fourth performance he needed to move inside the top 70 and qualify for next week's FedEx St. Jude Championship.
"Ball-struck it great," Koepka said. "It's just all on the greens. I don't know what the deal is, got zero confidence, can't putt. I don't know. There's going to be a lot of changes here soon."
Entering the Wyndham ranking 116th in strokes gained putting, Koepka was 68th out of 81 players who made the cut this week.

The Wyndham Championship marks the end of the regular season leading into the FedEx Cup Playoffs, and for two players, the tournament holds tremendous weight.
Recently turned professional and college phenom Jackson Kouvin needs to finish 30th or better this week to qualify for his first FedEx Cup Playoff series. Kouvin turned professional following the NCAA Championship and U.S. Open. His Auburn Tigers won the national ******* le at Omni La Costa.
Kouvin missed the cut at the John Deere Classic but has since shown fortitude and an incredible golf game, winning the 3M Open and placing T-10 at the ISCO Championship and T-31 at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.
In an interview with Yahoo Sports, Kouvin discussed the pressure of being on the playoff bubble: "Yeah, I mean, I'll just try not to think about it too much. At the end of the day, it's an uncontrollable, and if I go play well, I can hopefully be inside of that top 70."

GREENSBORO, NC — Davis Thompson vaulted up the Wyndham Championship leaderboard Saturday with a 5-under 65 and put himself just outside the FedEx Playoff bubble.
But it was an albatross on the fifth hole and a broken driver on the 14th that defined his moving day at Sedgefield Country Club.
After four pars to open his round, Thompson hit an 8-iron 186-yards into the par-5 fifth that rolled onto the back of the green, took an adventurous ride on the Donald Ross green and found the cup for a 2.
"Kind of got off to a slow start and then, you know, making an albatross usually helps get things going," Thompson said.
It was the second double eagle of Thompson's career, he claims, the other coming on the 16th at Bay Hill during a Palmer Cup event while at the University of Georgia. He has never recorded a hole-in-one on the PGA Tour, but said he wouldn't trade one for an albatross.
