Robert MacIntyre has suggested that he is pleased to have been drawn with Rory McIlroy and Chris Gotterup for the opening two rounds of the Scottish Open, but joked that he may have one problem with his group.
MacIntyre is going to be one of the favourites to win this week at The Renaissance Club. The highlight of his career to date came with his victory at the same venue back in 2024.
Of course, the Scot will also have the majority of the crowd on his side this week at North Berwick. But perhaps there may be some divided loyalties among those who follow his group on Thursday and Friday.
The previous three winners of the event have been put together, with Rory McIlroy and Chris Gotterup also returning to the scene of a previous triumph.
McIlroy produced one of the most iconic shots of his career on his way to winning in 2023. Meanwhile, Gotterup won a lot of admirers with the way he edged the battle with the Northern Irishman 12 months ago.
