Scottie Scheffler will miss the cut for the first time in nearly four years after carding a second-round score of 2-over 72 on Friday, July 10 at The Renaissance Club in North Berwick during the Scottish Open.
The world's top-ranked golfer found little rhythm in his second round, an unusual sight for Scheffler, who has dominated leaderboards.
At the Scottish Open, only the top 65 golfers and ties advance to the weekend. Scheffler, after carding four bogeys in a turbulent second round, slipped to a tie for 88th. His chances of playing into the weekend ultimately vanished with a missed 6-foot par putt on the 18th, leaving him at even-par 142 after two rounds, well short of the projected cut line that is projected at 2 under.
"Just felt like I wasn't hitting it close enough to give myself enough opportunities," Scheffler said, according to the ******* ociated Press. "I think that's really kind of what it comes down to."
