On September 10, Shoe Station Group (NASDAQ:SHOE) held its first earnings call under its new name, and the numbers told a story of a company still finding its footing. Second quarter net sales fell 7.2% to $284.3 million from $306.4 million a year earlier, with comparable sales down 7.1%. But buried in the report was a sharper signal: August comparable sales improved to a 2.7% decline, a real jump from the second quarter's pace, and management is pointing to store-by-store product changes as the reason why.
Shoe Station's turnaround argument rests on giving up the idea that every store should look the same. Interim CEO Clifton Sifford said the company had been running nearly identical ***** ortments across its stores even though its two banners serve very different customers, and that approach stopped working. The shift already shows up in the numbers. Once the company localized its athletic ***** ortments ahead of back-to-school, adult athletic sales moved from a low single-digit decline in the second quarter to a low single-digit increase in August.
Running shoes comped positive in both men's and women's categories, and men's work boots, a replenishment category with loyal repeat buyers, grew 2%. Management believes this fall's boot lineup is the best it has fielded in years, heading into what Sifford expects to be a bigger nonathletic fashion cycle. E-commerce sales grew 18.8% even as store traffic fell, and in-store conversion actually improved, evidence that customers who show up are buying; they just are not showing up in the same numbers yet. The company also ended the quarter debt-free with $131.6 million in cash, up $39.7 million from a year ago, giving it room to fund the localized rollout without straining the balance sheet.
The flip side is that the entire second quarter was ugly across the board. Shoe Carnival branded stores, still 63% of revenue, saw sales fall 6.5%, while the newly converted Shoe Station banner dropped 8.4%. Gross profit margin fell 690 basis points to 31.9%, a mix of a promotional footwear market and management's decision to accelerate liquidation of aged inventory, trading margin for cash. That combination cut net income to $6.3 million, or $0.23 per diluted share, down from $19.2 million and $0.70 a year earlier.
Management is not projecting relief anytime soon. Sifford said plainly, "We are not ***** uming the environment improves," and CFO Kerry Jackson noted that gross margins in fiscal August were still running below last year's levels at a pace comparable to the second quarter. Full-year gross margin guidance of 32.5% to 32.7% implies 390 to 410 basis points of compression for the year. Store impairment charges reached $6.7 million on 11 stores year to date, and management has already conceded that the core problem is not price, since conversion rates rose while total customer visits kept falling. That points to a marketing and trust problem rather than a demand problem, and fixing it will take more tha

ATLANTA − Tennessee football played its first road game of the season at Georgia Tech but it sure didn't look that way.
UT fans helped sell out Bobby Dodd Stadium as the No. 18 Vols (2-0) beat Georgia Tech 45-24 on Sept. 12. UT coach Josh Heupel noticed the support from the fans before he stepped on the field to play the Yellow Jackets (0-2).
"We leave our hotel and you see nothing but orange and white on our way here," Heupel said. "From older fans who have been here for a lot of generations to some younger ones who don't know how to tie their shoes yet, you walk into the stadium 60 minutes before kickoff and a majority of the crowd is Tennessee orange. It's pretty special."
Freshman quarterback Faizon Brandon, making the first road start of his college career, said UT fans gave him and his teammates a distinct advantage when operating the offense.
"It was a lot of orange," Brandon said. "It definitely made things easier. Wasn't too much noise. Definitely got a little rowdy sometimes, but seeing all the orange, it definitely made me proud."

New York Fashion Week occurs twice a year; once in February and once in September.
Each year brings a star-studded front row, with celebrities donning sky-high platform shoes, towering headdresses, and more out-there looks.
InStyle gathered 10 of the wildest and most memorable celebrity appearances, below.
Every year, twice a year, New York Fashion Week is a feast for all of the senses. You find yourself craning your neck left and right at whiplash speed just to take in all of the sumptuous looks sauntering down the runway, ID'ing the supermodels, and hoping for a glimpse of the star-studded front row. If you're really lucky, you may find yourself backstage, where you have a chance to inhale the hairspray that holds the looks together and swatch the lipsticks that define them; or you may find yourself in a showroom, tentatively running your fingers across a hand-embroidered beaded gown. And you can't forget the afterparties, where you'll more than likely be treated to a caviar-encrusted chicken nugget and a bespoke designer **** tail.
It shouldn't be surprising, then, that it's difficult to stand out in such a flurry of beauty and creativity. But a handful of celebrities have managed to leave an indelible mark on NYFW history. Teyana Taylor and Julia Fox consistently arrive in some of the most head-turning looks in the crowd, while Lil Nas X's pink feathered headdress extended high into the heavens (and back into the second row) at Christian Cowan in 2013. Famous kids also snag coveted front row seats—North West made her NYFW debut at the tender age of two.

Jordyn Woods pulled off a move that only a few people dare to do, and that was to wear her own shoe designs to New York Fashion Week. The model and fashion designer attended the Michael Kors spring 2027 fashion show on Friday wearing a feathered sandal from her own shoe collection. Jordyn Woods Stephanie Augello Woods opted for the Woods by Jordan Stunt Sandal in gray. The bold slip-on feather sandal heels are a modern take on a traditional sandal. They are designed with a micro squared open toe, a comfortable and thong toe strap, all while balancing on a stable 4.25-inch heel. The slip-on shoe features a thoughtful wide-foot design and a cushioned footbed. They are designed with a 3.5-inch-tall feathered cuff, which can be steamed to fluff out the feathers for a fuller look. While the gray style is not currently available on the website, the designer offers the shoes in orange faux ostrich leather, denim, croc-embossed banana yellow, black leather, black feathers and white feathers. The shoes retail for $295. Courtesy of Woods by Jordyn. She paired the shoes with a look from the Michael Kors Collection. Kate Moss, Jordyn Woods, Elle Fanning and more stars took their footwear back to basics at the front rows of spring 2027 New York Fashion Week. The stars opted out of the flashier shoe trends popping up on the runways. Instead, they punctuated their looks with classic pointed-toe pumps, breathing new life into a timeless classic. Kate Moss GC Images Moss attended the Tommy Hilfiger fashion show at The Plaza Hotel on Thursday. The supermodel went for a laid-back ****** on-up and jeans look, but elevated it by wearing the Gianvito Rossi Gianvito 105 high-heel style in black. The Gianvito 105 is the luxury shoe designer's signature style. The shoes are crafted from a rich, smooth napa leather and are defined by a sleek 105mm stiletto heel and a statement pointy toe. The shoes feature a flattering, low-cut vamp that exposes the front of the foot. Elle Fanning GC Images Fanning attended the Coach spring 2027 fashion show at Basketball City on Wednesday. She wore a statement leopard-print double-breasted coat paired with a white star-studded Coach Tabby bag from the brand's resort 2027 collection. Anne Hathaway brought fisherman sandals into the summer-to-fall stretch at New York Fashion Week on Thursday. The actress attended the Moncler Fifth Avenue flagship opening in New York City with her husband, Adam Shulman, wearing The Row's black leather Capri Knotted Slides with a relaxed double denim ensemble. While Ryan Seacrest is reflecting on his summer and his beach workouts, his followers had other thoughts in mind. Many of them asked the same question in the comments after he shared images of himself on social media.
"From the summer camera roll: vacation workouts just hit different," he captioned the Instagram post on September 10. Seacrest set the post to the song "I Feel Good" by Pink Sweat$.
Whoever filmed the video started off with a scenic view of the water. Then, they panned to the Wheel of Fortune host across the beach doing squats with hand weights. They got closer and closer until they were only a few feet from him.
Seacrest worked out with no shirt, short black shorts, and black water shoes. Hand weights, barbells, and other workout equipment sat in a straight line behind him.
He continued to do squats and lift the weights above his head. More views of the ocean could be seen before Seacrest appeared to lie on a towel. He did crunches and lifted his hips up as he used a bigger weight on his arms.

Amanda Seyfried went for an earthy color palette while attending the Tory Burch spring 2027 show during New York Fashion Week on Thursday. For the event, the actress paired one of the brand's most popular shoes with a fall-ready brown-and-green look. Amanda Seyfried attends the Tory Burch spring 2027 show. Getty Images for Tory Burch She opted for the Tory Burch Peep Toe pump, which has been a favored choice among celebrities in recent years. The peep-toe pump riffs on the classic style with a twisted, sculptural heel, designed to look as if it is in motion. Rather than reveal several toes like a traditional peep-toe silhouette, the cutout frames only the hallux, or big toe — a highly specific footwear trend that surfaced at Copenhagen Fashion Week at the end of August. Grosgrain details and side seaming borrow from balletic pointe shoes. The pumps were made in partnership with a Leather Working Group-certified tannery, which supports high standards in leather manufacturing and chemical management. Their twisted heels measure 90mm, or approximately 3.54 inches, while a cushioned leather footbed offers comfort. The shoes also boast a patent leather upper and grosgrain binding. Napa leather lining and a buffed leather sole complete the construction. A closeup

Standing outside his new school, Eton College, in uniform for the first time on Tuesday, Prince George looked the spitting image of his father, Prince William, 31 years earlier.
Dressed in the iconic tailcoat, winged collars, and white tie, the 13-year-old future King's resemblance to his father on his first day in 1995 could not have been clearer.
Earlier in the morning, as William and Kate dropped off George for his big day, the father and son appeared to be wearing almost identical navy suits and suede shoes, with the only noticeable difference being spots on the latter's tie.

But it's far from the first time that royal fans have noted their uncanny similarities – and twinning fashion moments.

Alex Fine, who plays Donnie, one of Kat McAllister's enforcers in MobLand, is confirmed to return for Season Two. He attended the world premiere in London with his wife, Cassie Ventura.
Matt Crossick/Variety via Getty Images
Alex wore Saint Laurent Fall 2026, taking the cropped cable-knit sweater from the runway and giving it a much cleaner spin with wide-leg black trousers. I've been enjoying the collection's striped pieces on the red carpet, but I like that Alex didn't recreate the runway styling. The all-black palette puts the focus on the proportions, which is what makes this work for me.
Cassie opted for a Magda Butrym wool corset dress, and this is easily my favourite part of their couple's style moment. The precise darting and padded hips create that exaggerated hourglass silhouette the designer does so well, and you know I love a well-executed exaggerated silhouette.
The dress is so good that the shoes frustrate me even more. The bronze pointed-toe pumps with criss-cross ankle straps feel disconnected from the modernity of the silhouette. A pewter strappy sandal or mule would have been a much stronger finish and allowed the dress to have the final word.

Tech stocks kicked off the holiday shortened weak lower on Tuesday, as the Nasdaq fell 0.14%. On Wednesday, Apple (AAPL) will enter a new era as CEO John Ternus hosts his first iPhone event at the company's headquarters in Cupertino, Calif.
Ternus took over from former CEO Tim Cook on Sept. 1 and he'll have some rather large shoes to fill after Cook helped turn Apple into a $4.6 trillion behemoth.
The company is widely expected to debut its first foldable iPhone during the presentation, as well as its iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max models and the Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4.
Elsewhere, Wall Street is waiting with bated breath for Anthropic (ANTH.PVT) to publicly drop its S1 investing prospectus. The filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission will provide potential investors with their first look at the AI startup's financials and outlook, as well as more information about its data center spending.
Rumors have swirled that the paperwork could come as early as this week, though more recent rumblings point to October.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce stepped out for a date night in New York City amid speculation about how his NFL season could affect their marriage. This date night comes over two months after the couple tied the knot on July 3 at iconic Madison Square Garden in the city. Interestingly, this romantic outing also comes at a time when reports have hinted that Kelce's new innings with the Chiefs will put his marriage to Swift to a test.
It seems like Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift have put all rumors to rest by spending a romantic date night outing in NYC. Page Six shared exclusive photos of Swift and Kelce in stylish outfits as they dined at the Indian restaurant Ambassadors Clubhouse. Notably, it is a hotspot located in the NoMad district on Sunday night.

As per the outlet, she paired it with a red-brown purse and matching metallic heels that added an extra dose of oomph to the look.
She also reportedly opted for the Elizabeth Taylor opal ring and bracelet set, which her now-husband gifted her last Christmas. Swift's wispy bangs framed her face as she paired it with her signature red lipstick look for the romantic night out.
Kelce opted for a white silk striped shirt with brown trousers and checkered shoes. He completed the look with stylish aviators and a watch. It seems like Swift and Kelce have taken it upon themselves to ****** ure their fans and well-wishers that there is nothing to worry about.

Amanda Seyfried captured a cool, off-duty Italian summer vibe in a sheer cardigan and micro shorts, completing her look with a Miu Miu bag. On September 6, the "Jennifer's Body" star was spotted leaving Harry's Bar in Venice with a friend during the Venice International Film Festival.
For her nighttime outing in Paris, Amanda Seyfried wore a lightweight, sheer knit cardigan ****** oned up over a crisp white layer. The cardigan featured vertical ribbing and a cropped length, which revealed a sliver of her toned midriff. Below them, she wore high-waisted denim cutoff shorts with raw, frayed hems, giving the outfit an easygoing, laid-back edge. The shorts put her long legs on full display.
Styled by longtime collaborator Elizabeth Stewart, "The Housemaid" star brought an elevated, high-fashion polish to the casual outfit. She carried a chic black Miu Miu Shiny Leather Bag. The structured bag featured short top handles, a glossy sheen, and signature gold-tone hardware. Its reflective finish created a sharp, sophisticated contrast against the casual denim and soft knit texture of her top.
On her feet, she kept things comfortably cool with a pair of Miu Miu Satin Ballerinas in black. The shoes featured a dainty bow on the toe and a branded elastic strap across the instep. Further, she kept her beauty styling simple for the night out. Her soft, natural blonde hair tumbled over her shoulders. Meanwhile, her makeup featured glowing skin and a berry lip.
Earlier that day, Seyfried paired the same shoes and bag with a Miu Miu poplin mini dress. The cornflower blue dress featured a romantic off-the-shoulder neckline. Short, puffy cap sleeves framed the elasticized neckline, adding a bit of sweet, retro flair. She completed her look with Tiffany & Co. earrings and Miu Miu Ciel sunglasses with pink lenses.

Irina Shayk is one of the many models bringing glamour to the Venice Film Festival, and so far, she has served up four looks spanning body-con Alaïa, two archival pulls and a more subdued turn on the red carpet.
Agostino Fabio/WireImage
Irina arrived in Venice wearing a fitted Alaïa dress styled with a Ferragamo Cara bag and Alaïa mesh shoes, proving that even her off-duty looks come with plenty of ****** appeal.
The slate-grey colour may be subdued, but there is nothing understated about the silhouette. This is classic Irina, and an easy introduction to her Venice wardrobe.

Pamela Anderson opted for a wild pair of animal-printed pumps while in attendance at the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement Award ceremony held during the 83rd Venice International Film Festival today in Venice. The ceremony was held to honor actress Ellen Burstyn, best known for her work in "Requiem for a Dream," "The Exorcist" and "Flowers in the Attic." For the prestigious event, Anderson sported a pair of leopard-printed pumps. The shoe choice featured pointed toes and black and white uppers, a departure from your usual brown and black leopard print. Stiletto heels standing at around 3 to 4 inches in height rounded out the printed set. Similar styles to Anderson's can be found from brands like Nine West, Saint Laurent and Sam Edelman. When it comes to fashion, the first person on your mind would probably not be Rosie O'Donnell. Although O'Donnell has had a complete Hollywood transformation, the noted comedian is known more for being an accomplished talk show host while delivering whip-sharp quips. But it appears she also knows a thing or two about dressing herself for a wedding, especially her youngest son's wedding. Blake O'Donnell got married in August 2024 and Rosie made sure she was dressed in her best for the occasion.
rosie/Instagram
Instead of a typical dress, O'Donnell opted for a sharp suit, as seen in the image above, that she posted to her Instagram account. The custom made suit was champagne-colored, with floral motifs adorning both the blazer and pants. She wore a pair of white Oxford shoes, keeping her graying hair in a short neat cut. Not only is the outfit ideal and comfortable, it also serves as the perfect alternative to a dress for older women. O'Donnell definitely rocked this look to a T, looking stunning as she and her son shared a wholesome mother-son dance to Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time."

NEW YORK (AP) — Want to know how good ****** Gould's teams were at Stanford? The answer was right there on his shoes.
Gould returned to the U.S. Open on Saturday and was honored during the first match of the night session. The longtime coach, who had John McEnroe among his many future pros, hadn't been back to the event in years but his former players wanted to celebrate him this year.
Gould wore specially designed Nike sneakers that were made for him for the occasion. White and cardinal red, one had a 17 on it, signifying his total of NCAA national championships, with his record of 776-148 on the tongue.
"I loved coaching. I really enjoyed working with the age group, especially the 18 to 22-year-olds," Gould said. "It's the first time away from their parents, and you want to be independent, and the other hand, you can't quite be, and sometimes some poor advice to help navigate things with you in a subtle way."
Gould was at Stanford from 1966-2004. Only four coaches at any level of college, men's or women's, won as many national ****** les, and his players won 17 individual NCAA championships. Some of his best, topped by McEnroe and twins Mike and Bob Bryan, went on to win multiple Grand Slam ****** les.

Here's a roundup of the menswear looks away from the Venice Film Festival and The Gentlemen premiere, with Lewis Hamilton making an occasion of Monza, while Andrew Scott and Andrew Garfield returned to traditional tailoring.
Considering Monza is the home of Ferrari, Lewis Hamilton was always going to make his arrival count.
The driver wore a Saint Laurent Fall 2026 black pinstripe suit, and I love the proportions here. We all know how much Lewis loves an oversized silhouette, sometimes to comical proportions, but the strong shoulders and wide-leg trousers give the classic shirt-and-tie combination a more contemporary feel, while the Kangol hat adds that signature Lewis touch.
Saint Laurent Stanton shoes, Renato Cipullo's Beryl Topiary ring and Briony Raymond Slim Sloan hoop earrings completed his look.

New Indiana quarterback Josh Hoover started 6-for-6 passing for 98 yards and two touchdowns in his first start with the Hoosiers, but it took some blood and sweat — literally.
In the second quarter of Indiana's season opener against North Texas on Saturday, Sept. 5, a Mean Green defender brought some pressure to Hoover in the pocket but grabbed Hoover's facemask and turned his helmet completely backward in an obvious penalty. The defender was flagged for the play, which caused a open wound to Hoover's face, which he played with the remainder of the drive.
Blood continued to drip down Hoover's face and onto his chinstrap midway through the second quarter, but the first-year TCU transfer led the Hoosiers on a touchdown drive anyway, ending in a 9-yard touchdown pass to returning starter Charlie Becker to extend their lead to 21-3.
It's quite a first impression for a quarterback aiming to fill the shoes of Fernando Mendoza, who went No. 1 overall in the 2026 NFL Draft and won the Heisman Trophy before scoring a gutty touchdown himself in the national championship.
Hoover, a three-year starter at TCU, entered the game with 9,629 career passing yards and 79 total touchdowns to 33 interceptions. His first touchdown as a Hoosier was a beautiful back-shoulder pass to Michigan State transfer Nick Marsh, who caught the pass one-handed for what was also his first score.

And the reason I didn't recognise her at first when I was working on her Chanel premiere look is because she looks completely different in this Chanel Resort 2027 ensemble.
Even with the minor issue I had with the premiere look, what I loved about it was how youthful it felt. It had rising-star energy.
As chic as this black-and-white Chanel look is for the photocall, I feel that it ages her. I would like to point to one element – the jacket or the shoes – but it is very much a collective effort.

A crash, a penalty… what next? For a man who's just turned 20, Italian hotshot Kimi Antonelli has already endured a tumultuous relationship with his home grand prix: the electrifying, old-school Monza circuit, long christened Formula 1's Temple of Speed.
Two years ago, on the same weekend that Toto Wolff announced that then-F2 driver Antonelli would have the small shoes of Lewis Hamilton to fill in 2025, Antonelli took part in his first F1 session. On his second flying lap, full-send around the final high-speed Parabolica corner, the teen dumped his car violently into the wall. Then, in 2025, Antonelli crashed again in practice before receiving a penalty for track limits and running Alex Albon off the circuit.
Coming in the midst of a helter-skelter rookie year, Wolff acknowledged that Antonelli's ninth-place performance had been "underwhelming," urging his protege to "just free up." Fast-forward 12 months, Antonelli is potentially 11 races away from becoming F1's youngest-ever world champion. And on Thursday, he acknowledged he feels "very free mentally."
Yet Antonelli's chances of becoming the first home driver to win the Italian Grand Prix since Ferrari's Ludovico Scarfiotti in 1966 are slim, bordering on zero. The championship leader, 59 points clear at the top, will take a 20-place grid penalty this weekend as he exceeds his engine allocation for the season. Mercedes's thinking is that, with Monza's mammoth long straight, overtaking from the back of the grid will be easier come raceday. Still, it feels a shame to lose the budding romance of a potential first Italian winner in 60 years.
"In some ways, it makes me a bit more relaxed going into the weekend," Antonelli said in the FIA press conference. "That's why I'm going to be able to enjoy more the driving and the weekend itself. Also, it's a different opportunity.
