CBS Sports ******* yst Garrett Podell put together his bold predictions for Week 1 of the 2026 season, one of which centers around the Jacksonville Jaguars' run defense -- and not in a positive way.
Podell made four bold Week 1 predictions, one of which is that Cleveland Browns' running back Quinshon Judkins rushes for over 75 yards against the Jaguars' defense.
"Cleveland Browns running back Quinshon Judkins ran for 827 yards as a rookie in 2025 despite the corpse of Joe Flacco, third-round rookie Dillon Gabriel and fifth-round rookie Shedeur Sanders all starting at quarterback last season," wrote Podell. "He's used to facing loaded boxes and opponents going all out to take away his production."
Of course, what makes this prediction bold is that the Jaguars boasted the top run defense unit in football last season.
A second offseason in Anthony Campanile's scheme, along with no significant losses this offseason, a few new rookie additions, and second-year players BJ Green and Danny Striggow making potential jumps, are all reasons to believe that this unit can once again be quite good.

Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride isn't on the trade block, but CBS Sports' Garrett Podell believes the All-Pro could eventually become a player worth monitoring if Arizona fails to turn the franchise around.
In a recent look at NFL stars who could potentially seek a fresh start, Podell examined McBride's long-term outlook with the Cardinals. His conclusion was simple: if Arizona can find its quarterback of the future, McBride likely stays. If not, the conversation could become much different as the organization continues to rebuild.
McBride has developed into one of the NFL's most productive pass catchers regardless of position. He finished the 2025 season with 126 receptions, the second-most in the league, while adding 1,239 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns. Despite those numbers, the Cardinals stumbled to a 3-14 record while playing in an NFC West that featured three 12-win teams.

The ground game of the Minnesota Vikings had real potential last season, but did not get enough snaps to make a difference. The Vikings finished 23rd in rushing yards per game (108.3 YPG) but placed 11th in yards per carry (4.5 YPC).

Would the Indianapolis Colts trade Jonathan Taylor? One NFL ****** yst thinks it could be a possibility.
Garrett Podell of CBS Sports put together his list of five NFL stars "who could force a Giannis-like trade," and among those listed was Taylor.
Podell predicts that Taylor asks for a trade prior to this year's trade deadline and that the Colts could get a third-round pick in return. Podell names the Steelers as a "likely landing spot."
"A running back's prime is finite, and Taylor remains at the top of his game after producing the third-most rushing yards (1,585) and the most rushing touchdowns (18) in the NFL in 2025," Podell wrote. "If Colts quarterback Daniel Jones (Achilles) and wide receiver Alec Pierce (ankle) can't get healthy in a hurry, the 27-year-old three-time Pro Bowl back may start looking around for a new home."
Taylor is entering the final year of his current deal and will be looking for a new contract. He has also made it known that he would like to remain in Indianapolis.

Normally, the Carolina Panthers tend not to spend a lot of money on outside free agents. This year, however, was a big exception to the rule.
General manager Dan Morgan went on the prowl as soon as the legal tampering period began, and ended up dishing out just over $200 million in free agency—the fifth-highest mark in the league.
While their biggest deal with outside linebacker Jaelan Phillips has gotten some negative reviews, not everyone agrees. Garrett Podell at CBS Sports loves all of their major moves, and sees the Phillips signing as the crown jewel.

They signed arguably the best edge rusher (Jaelan Phillips), the best inside linebacker (Devin Lloyd) and the best offensive tackle (Rasheed Walker) who were available in free agency. Phillips is the crown jewel of their free agency class. He registered the fourth-highest quarterback pressure rate (18.8%) in the NFL in 2025... That's why Carolina made him the highest-paid, non-QB in free agency history with a $30 million average-per-year salary. He'll be a massive help to the Panthers' pass rush, which was one of their weak spots a year ago.
