The Houston Texans traded for Kayshon Boutte this week with hopes that he will be a solid No. 2 receiver for them behind Nico Collins. That's why it was a little shocking to hear Mike Vrabel say Thursday night that if the New England Patriots hadn't dealt Boutte, he likely wouldn't have seen the field for them because of their improved depth at the position.
Boutte's 33 receptions last season was fifth on the Patriots squad, although two of the players ahead of him were tight end Hunter Henry and running back TreVeyon Henderson. His 551 yards was third on the team and his six touchdown catches was second. Still, in the offseason, the Patriots traded for three-time Pro Bowl receiver A.J. Brown and signed former Packers receiver A.J. Doubs as a free agent. Those two are going to be New England's top options at receiver with DeMario Douglas also expected to get plenty of time. The backups are Mack Hollins and Kyle Williams, who both play special teams, something Boutte hasn't done since he entered the league in 2023.

Andrei Iosivas entered the offseason as one of the more embattled-feeling Cincinnati Bengals players of note.
The Bengals, after all, drafted Colbie Young this year and Iosivas has some drops over the last year or so that stick heavy in the minds of fans.
But with training camp wrapping up ahead of the preseason finale, offensive coordinator Dan Pitcher has nothing but good things to say about Iosivas.
Pitcher told Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com that Iosivas "had a good camp all the way around."

Wide receivers can be a little tricky in fantasy football. While you want to target players who are the No. 1 receiver on their team, it is not advised to draft a receiver who is the only target on the team.
That is why Houston Texans wide receiver Jayden Higgins' season-ending torn ACL may have actually hurt receiver Nico Collins' fantasy stock a little.
The top wide receivers in fantasy generally have another talented receiver paired with them. Ja'Marr Chase with the Cincinnati Bengals has Tee Higgins. Puka Nacua with the Los Angeles Rams has Davante Adams. Justin Jefferson with the Minnesota Vikings has Jordan Addison.

For most of Andrei Iosivas' NFL career, there has been something to prove: Prove that a wide receiver from Princeton could play in the NFL; prove that a sixth-round draft pick belonged on the field with Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins; and prove that his rare combination of size and athleticism could translate into production against NFL defensive backs.
Three years into his career with the Cincinnati Bengals, Iosivas doesn't sound particularly interested in proving anything anymore. And that may be the best indication yet of how far he's come.
"I just feel like I am flowing and I am playing," Iosivas said in a recent interview. "I'm happy about the way I approach the days. I've been focusing on how I walk into the building, how I get out to practice, and whatever happens, happens."
That's quite a change from the player Cincinnati selected with the 206th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Iosivas arrived in Cincinnati as one of the more intriguing developmental prospects in that draft class. At 6-foot-3 and around 210 pounds, he had the physical traits, but he was making the jump from Ivy League football at Princeton to an offense featuring Joe Burrow, Chase and Higgins.
He has spent the past three seasons showing that he belongs. Iosivas played in 16 games as a rookie and caught 15 passes for 116 yards. Four of those 15 receptions went for touchdowns. His role grew substantially in 2024, when he caught 36 passes for 479 yards and six touchdowns. He followed that with 33 receptions for 435 yards and two scores in 2025.

On the other side, the Bengals endured a disappointing campaign marred by another slow start and an injury-riddled season for Joe Burrow. The Houston Texans received some devastating news a few days ago when they found out that wide receiver Jayden Higgins had torn his ACL during the Texans' joint practice with the Las Vegas Raiders and will be out for the season.
As a rookie, Higgins was a key part of Houston's offense last season. He played in all 17 games, finishing the season with 525 receiving yards and six touchdowns. Head coach DeMeco Ryans reacted to Higgins' injury after the Texans' preseason loss to the Raiders.
"Very unfortunate news with Jayden going down with the torn ACL," Ryans said. "He'll be out for the year here. It hurt. Jayden is a guy I've highlighted. I feel like every time I've gotten up and talked, I've highlighted Jayden Higgins because of the work he's done in OTAs, throughout Training Camp. He was one of our best players, if not arguably the best player on the field when he's been out there. It's a significant loss for us. We have a void to fill there. It won't be easy to fill the void that Jayden is leaving behind."
To address the void the loss of Higgins has left, the Texans signed wide receivers Zay Jones and Sterling Shepard. Jones had minimal action last season, only playing in eight games for the Arizona Cardinals and recording a total of 12 receptions, but he was also sidelined early with a torn Achilles.

"I believe in myself 100%," Hutchinson said in the Texans' locker room. "I prepared for this in the offseason, obviously not for it to happen this way, of course, but I prepared myself to be able to take on whatever role this team needed to succeed. If that means more on my plate, then I'm ready for it. I'm ready to ball, that's it."

RoadOne IntermodaLogistics announced it has acquired Higgins Transport Service, a Charleston, South Carolina-based provider of port drayage and intermodal transportation services.
The deal adds 15 drivers to RoadOne's Charleston operations along with additional drayage and intermodal capacity to serve the Southeastern market.
Financial terms of the transaction were not provided.
RoadOne recently opened a 384,000-square-foot facility in Summerville, South Carolina to serve the Port of Charleston. The 100-acre property provides transloading, storage and distribution services across the Southeast. The company plans to add a 279,700-square-foot warehouse on the property next year.
The company directly operates nearly 5 million square feet of warehouse and transloading ***** e, with access to another 85 million square feet of ***** e through partnerships.

Well, just like last week, Houston had a very deflating finish to this preseason game, losing to the Las Vegas Raiders 22-20, dropping to 0-2 this preseason. Despite the loss, however, this game was a much more satisfying showing from the Texans roster than last week's loss against the Los Angeles Chargers. Tonight, the Houston Texans faced first overall pick QB Fernando Mendoza, hoping to get some positive action from their roster following the devastating news of WR Jayden Higgins' injury yesterday. They got exactly what they were looking for on the first two drives of the game: a methodical, run-heavy drive from the first-stringers that ended in a 20-yard Woody Marks touchdown run, and then a pick-six on Mendoza by rookie LB Wade Woodaz!
For a moment, you might've mistaken this game to be a pivotal late-season matchup with the amount of cheering from the fans following Woodaz's interception. Of course, it's the preseason and anything can happen.

The Houston Texans need a proven wide receiver after the season-ending injury suffered by second-year receiver Jayden Higgins.
Right now, there seems to be a clear option on the table and certainly a player looking for a bigger role.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, teams have reached out about acquiring veteran receiver Kayshon Boutte in exchange for a draft pick. Since the Texans now seem to be in the market, Rapoport believes that could be the dream destination.
Boutte, 24, had a promising season last year as the No. 2 target for Drake Maye en route to the Super Bowl. The LSU product caught 33 passes for 551 yards and a career-high 6 touchdowns, including a game-sealing touchdown reception in the divisional round playoff win over the Texans.
But the Patriots added A.J. Brown and Romeo Doubs in free agency and trades this offseason and gave each top money, so they're expected to be the new top two weapons opposite tight end Hunter Henry. This likely reduces Boutte's exposure in the offense and makes him a name worth dicussing via the trade markets.

The Houston Texans are now on watch for an update on Jayden Higgins.
The second-year wide receiver left practice Tuesday with what appeared to be a lower-body injury suffered during team drills against the Las Vegas Raiders. In the red zone, Higgins was going for a pass when he fell to the ground and looked to be writhing in pain.
Multiple players on offense, including quarterback C.J. Stroud, wide receiver Nico Collins and fellow receiver Xavier Hutchinson, came over to check on Higgins as he lay in the grass. Being attended to by trainers.
While a cart came out to transport him, Higgins got up on his own power. He did not return to practice and was still being checked on by the medical staff when practice ended.

The Bengals' 2023 seventh-round draft pick has been getting a lot of first-team reps while Dax Hill has been dealing with leg tightness, and even wide receiver Tee Higgins told reporters last week Ivey has been giving him good competition.
Ivey has broken up some high-point passes to Higgins, and even when he gives up the catch to his receiver, he's been making it a challenge. That's exactly what the Bengals need out of the depth pieces in the secondary, perhaps one of the biggest areas of concern coming into camp.
"It's been going good so far," Ivey said of his camp. "Just making the plays that come to me, and just doing my best at that."

The Cincinnati Bengals took the field for a Sunday morning practice ahead of their second preseason matchup. A joint practice with the Chicago Bears will be on Thursday, so the team is preparing accordingly.
Former Bengals quarterback Jeff Blake attended Sunday's practice and gave Joe Flacco some funny advice.
After a bit of an injury scare on Saturday, Murphy was back on the practice field and participated fully. Saturday's issue was cramps, he just used a cart to get back to the locker room due to the long walk.

Aspire Biopharma Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ:ASBP) said Monday it completed its $30 million acquisition of Dura Driver Control Systems, expanding the biopharmaceutical company into the automotive and mobility-control market.
The deal, first announced in June, gives Aspire 100% ownership of Dura Driver Control Systems, or DCS, which is now a wholly owned subsidiary. Aspire paid about $30 million in cash.
DCS is a tier-one automotive supplier focused on electronic driver controls and systems supporting vehicle electrification, safety, lightweighting and sustainability. Aspire said the acquisition is expected to add revenue, earnings and cash flow while diversifying its business.
The company also entered into a $22.5 million senior secured revolving credit facility in connection with the transaction. The company said it will use borrowings from the facility, along with cash on hand, to finance the acquisition.
"Closing the DCS acquisition is a cash-flow-positive milestone that structurally enhances Aspire's valuation," CEO and Board Chair Kraig Higginson said.

It's not every day you get to have a memorable breakfast with your boss. Most people expect a quick morning conversation to happen around the office coffee machine. Last month, though, 97.3 The Fan's Ben Higgins and Steve Woods, along with producer Paul Reindl, gathered for something much different. The long-running San Diego morning show, Ben & Woods, was celebrating Woods' birthday.
The mood was light. It was a typical Friday morning wrapping up MLB All-Star Week and preparing for the second half of the Padres season. Breakfast burritos were on the menu, but so was another surprise. Each member of the show received a new three-year contract extension.
"Anytime you can get extended in media these days is a giant win," says Woods, who called the moment the best birthday gift ever. "We have an audience that's so dedicated to the show and knows where we are. Not just us but taking care of our producer was also a big thing for us. As soon as they did that, that forced the issue for us to do this."
Since 2019, Ben & Woods has become a staple for San Diego sports fans. The show originally launched a year earlier on the former Mighty 1090 before moving to Audacy's 97.3 The Fan after the station shut down. The program was built specifically for San Diego, blending sports, culture, humor and personality. Higgins and Woods have never been afraid to let listeners into their lives, and that same transparency extends to contract negotiations.
"Honestly, I would like to handle things behind the scenes. But compromise is part of a good radio marriage," jokes Higgins. "Woods loves bringing it all out there for our listeners. Which is our strongest quality. In terms of our deal, we were in alignment on a lot. It was just a few things that if they agreed on, we'd be ready to sign. We were just so happy to get it done."

So with all due respect to the five 2026 first-rounders at the position, including two top-10 picks, there might be more than meets the eye at receiver beyond that.

Gleb Savchenko is happy to waltz away from Maura Higgins.
After Higgins told E! News that she hopes she won't be paired with the Dancing With the Stars pro in the upcoming 35th season due to his past relationship with her friend Brooks Nader, Savchenko shared his reaction—and he didn't mince words.
"Until I was asked to comment on this story, I'd genuinely never heard of this girl, Maura," Savchenko said in an Aug. 4 statement to the Daily Mail. "So I'm certainly not going to lose any sleep over the opinions of someone I've never met."
"It's odd to publicly attack someone you've never even met," the 42-year-old continued, "but if that's how she wants to make headlines before the show starts, that's her choice."
