Another ranking, and another list where the Chargers find themselves just outside the top 10.
ESPN recently ranked NFL teams based on their under-25 talent, and the Chargers came in at No. 11, narrowly missing out on a spot among the league's top young cores.
"The top young player for the Chargers is Alt, who is 23 years old and tasked with protecting quarterback Justin Herbert. Running back Omarion Hampton and tight end Oronde Gadsden (both 23) performed well for the Chargers in 2025. Wide receivers Ladd McConkey, Quentin Johnston and Tre' Harris are all 24.
"On defense, the underrated slot cornerback Tarheeb Still is still just 24 years old, while edge rusher Tuli Tuipulotu will turn 24 on Sept. 3. However, rookie first-rounder Mesidor does not qualify for this ranking, as he turned 25 in April."
The Chargers dropped one spot in the list compared to last year. Notable teams ahead of Los Angeles in this category are the Raiders, Browns and the Texans.

The Chargers are less than a week away from the start of training camp, and the anticipation is building.
While most starting jobs and roster spots appear to be locked in at positions like quarterback, running back and safety, there are still several key roles that remain unsettled.
Those battles will begin to take shape in the coming weeks. Heading into training camp, here are the four biggest postion groups still unclear.
The left guard position will be one of the more intriguing battles entering training camp. The players fighting for the starting spot are veterans Kayode Awosika, Trevor Penning and second-round pick Jake Slaughter. Slaughter enters his first training camp having only played center at Flordia. Awosika appears to have the upper hand, as he received most of the work with the first-team offense during the spring.
While Omarion Hampton is locked in as the featured starter, who will secure the primary change-of-pace duties is a competition in its own. Free-agent acquisition Keaton Mitchell brings explosive, home-run speed that fits the scheme perfectly, but he faces a strong challenge from Kimani Vidal, who proved his reliability with a productive 643-yard season last year.

Worcestershire batter Rob Jones has announced he will retire from professional cricket at the end of the current season.
The right-hander has been with Pears permanently since 2024, having joined the club on loan from Lancashire for the One-Day Cup the previous summer when he hit a career-best 122 against Northamptonshire.
He was the first arrival under new chief executive Ashley Giles, who gave Jones his first-class debut in 2016 during his spell as head coach and director of cricket at Old Trafford.
The 30-year-old has predominately played 50-over cricket during his time at New Road, scoring 779 runs in 24 innings in List A games so far, including a second hundred for the county as he averaged 47.20 in the Pears' One-Day Cup winning run last season.
Jones, who has not featured in the County Championship yet in 2026, has scored 593 runs with a top score of 90 in 18 first-class matches for Worcestershire.

A "well-funded" group's proposed investment into Northampton Town is "pretty much agreed", the League Two club's chairman has said.
The scale of the investment - first announced in April - is not yet known and the identities of those involved have not been disclosed.
"We are in decent shape with the investment," said Cobblers chairman Kelvin Thomas. "My last update said things would be sorted hopefully by the start of the season, and that's still the aim as far as we are concerned."
Thomas said the deal was awaiting approval from the EFL and the newly-established Independent Football Regulator.
"We are one of the first clubs to go through both processes," said Thomas.

TimesofIndia.com in London: The summer of cricket continues unabated in England. The men played three Tests against New Zealand and five T20Is and three ODIs against India. As for the women, there was the T20 World Cup and the one-off Test between India and England. And now, it is the turn of The Hundred, which began on July 21.

The Hundred, the unique tournament featuring 100-ball innings, is back with its sixth edition. Much has changed, and yet not a lot has changed. It still has eight teams, still features 100-ball innings where bowlers can bowl spells of five or 10 consecutive ****** , and is still objectively meant to quicken the game and feature double headers - men and women - on the same day.

On the opening day, defending men's champions MI London beat Sunrisers Leeds at The Oval. In the day's first game, Sunrisers edged MI London by 7 wickets in the women's competition. A day later, in Southampton, Southern Brave women narrowly got the better of Welsh Fire. And the men's match later in the day had the reverse outcome.

What's changed is the ownership, the team names, and the kit designs. After an influx of £520 million into The Hundred, the Ambani family acquired Oval Invincibles (now renamed MI London), Sun Group purchased Northern Superchargers (now SunRisers Leeds), and RPSG Group bought Manchester Originals (now Manchester Super Giants). GMR Group, co-owners of the Delhi Capitals, have taken a 49% stake in Southern Brave.

On the opening day of the season at The Oval, the mood was as relaxed as one would expect at this time of year. The sun was out, and it was a pleasant day, away from the baking heat that this country had seen in the last couple of months. Even though it was a weekday, families were out in numbers, making the most of numerous entry points that get you into this cricket stadium in Kennington.

A venue that has seen three consecutive Test defeats for the hosts. It was here just a month ago that New Zealand walloped England by 253 runs. And it was here just about a year ago that Mohammed Siraj bowled with great fire to help India secure a series-levelling win by just 6 runs.

But now, on a Tuesday, The Hundred got underway, and the buzz was equal parts cricket, family and entertainment. A father, holding the hands of two of his kids, walked around and sought the support of a steward in finding the “family section.” Unlike international cricket, where tickets get sold for £100 or more, The Hundred hopes to bring in the masses with reasonable pricing.

With kids two and under going free, tickets for 3-15-year-olds are worth £5, and tickets for adults start from as little as £14. So, an entire young family could see two consecutive cricket matches, spanning about five hours or over, for £30-40.

To unwind after a long day at work, numerous food carts, kiosks and drinks stalls came to the rescue. From Middle Eastern to fast food to Indian, everything was on offer to suit the palates of the patrons. To

Mark Pope needs to make a statement with the 2027 recruiting class.
After getting two homegrown, top-25 prospects in the 2025 class, and going o-fer on top-100 prospects in the 2026 class, Pope has already secured a commit from five-star Ryan Hampton and has cast a wide net to build the rest of the class.
One specific player the Wildcats are making a push for is point guard Reese Alston, the 3rd-ranked point guard and 8th-ranked overall prospect. He is also the son of former NBA player Rafer Alston, also known as streetball legend “Skip to My Lou.”
Alston has been on Kentucky’s radar since last summer, with the Wildcats extending an offer to him last October. As the summer grassroots circuits come to a close, they are making a strong push for him.
Playing in Puma’s Pro16 circuit, smaller than Nike’s EYBL or Adidas’ 3SSB, Alston takes notice of the coaches who are there to watch him play. Mark Pope was in attendance to watch him last week, and ******* istant Mikhail McLean, who attended the same high school as Alston (Houston Second Baptist HS), has attended multiple Puma Pro16 events this spring/summer.

Fulham are preparing to hijack Leeds United’s pursuit of Southampton midfielder Shea Charles, with the Premier League side readying a formal £24 million bid to beat their domestic rivals to the 22-year-old’s signature. Daniel Farke is at Elland Road.
The West London club have moved aggressively after a protracted transfer impasse between Leeds and Southampton. Leeds manager Daniel Farke had identified Charles as a top midfield priority for his summer rebuild, but the Yorkshire club have hit a significant boardroom wall, with three formal offers rejected as Southampton hold firm for £25 million plus add-ons.
Spotting an opportunity to outmanoeuvre Leeds, new Fulham head coach Alvaro Arbeloa has given the green light for the club’s recruitment staff to submit an immediate £24 million opening proposal. Fulham’s pitch offers Charles an instant return to Premier League football, along with a defined tactical role in Arbeloa’s midfield plans.
For Southampton, balancing the books has become essential following their failure to secure Premier League promotion. As a Manchester City academy graduate and an established Northern Ireland international, Charles is one of St Mary’s most valuable financial ****** ets. Speculation around his future intensified this week after he was left out of Southampton’s pre-season opener against Eastleigh, further fuelling expectations of an imminent departure.
With Crystal Palace also monitoring the situation, Fulham are keen to accelerate formal negotiations in the coming days before Leeds can return with an improved fourth offer.

Boro' are set to receive around £20m from Aston Villa after including a sell-on clause in the deal that took Rogers to Villa Park in 2023. Incredibly, the Championship side will have received around £30m for a player who cost just £1m and spent six months at the Riverside.

India's T20I vice-captain Tilak Varma has hit back at criticism surrounding his strike rate during the recent T20I tours of Ireland and England, insisting that he always bats according to the team's requirements rather than personal milestones.

The left-hander faced scrutiny after scoring 178 runs in seven T20Is across the two tours at a strike rate of 131.85. While he registered two half-centuries 55 against Ireland in the second T20I and 53 against England in the fifth and final T20I questions were raised over his approach in the middle overs.

However, ahead of India's T20I series against Zimbabwe, Tilak made it clear that he is capable of attacking from the very first ball but chooses his approach based on the match situation and the team's needs.
Explaining his batting philosophy, Tilak said adapting to different batting positions and overseas conditions required him to take responsibility rather than chase an aggressive strike rate.

"In this game, you have to bat in different positions, and especially in those conditions, it isn't easy. At the same time, I've always said that I do whatever the team requires. If I have to grind it out for the team, I'll do that. If I have to hit from ball one, I can do that as well," Tilak told reporters during the pre-match press conference.

The 23-year-old pointed out that India's repeated top-order collapses on the Ireland and England tours forced the middle order to rebuild the innings instead of playing freely.

"From Ireland to England, we were losing four or five wickets inside the powerplay or within the first 10 overs in several matches. Going in and trying to accelerate immediately in that situation doesn't make sense. That's always in my mind. I know I can hit the first ball, but I'm playing for the country, and that comes with responsibilities," he added.
Tilak further revealed that as India's vice-captain, he is entrusted with specific responsibilities by the team management and prefers to execute those plans rather than focus on individual statistics.

"Everything depends on what the team needs at that moment. Sometimes I have to bat till the end, and sometimes the team's plans change according to the match situation. As vice-captain, the management gives me certain responsibilities after careful planning, and I want to fulfil those responsibilities. That's why I play according to the team's plans," Tilak said.
Tilak Varma finished the 2026 UK and Ireland tour with an overall T20I strike rate of 131.85, scoring 178 runs off 135 ******* faced. While his tour featured highly explosive cameos, such as a blistering 212.00 strike rate (53 runs off 25 ******* ) in the final T20I at Southampton.

A 63-year-old Bronx man was arrested after police say he drove a Subaru through the closed security gates at Beyoncé and Jay-Z's East Hampton home, severely damaging the entrance.
The East Hampton Star reported that the crash happened on Wednesday afternoon at the couple's property in the Georgica neighborhood. Investigators have not determined whether the man was targeting the house or its famous owners, and police said they found no weapons or a note explaining his actions.
A security guard told officers the vehicle traveled up the driveway at a high rate of speed and failed to stop at the closed mechanical gates. After the impact, the driver remained inside the damaged car until the property's security team instructed him to get out. He complied and was restrained before village police arrived.
"He wasn't making threats. He seemed confused," Detective Sgt. Jennifer Dunn said.

US PGA Champion Aaron Rai has said he is still coming to terms with his sporting win.
The golfer, from Wolverhampton, made history in May when he became the first Englishman to win the event in more than a century.
"It truly is a dream come true, kind of goes beyond what I would have ever expected in this game, what I'd hoped to achieve," he said.
Speaking to the BBC's golf correspondent Iain Carter ahead of The Open Championship, the 31-year-old said he had to balance the emotions of becoming a major winner with focusing on future competitions.
"To now almost be moving forward knowing what has happened is almost a new challenge in its own right," he said.
