Unai Emery will make late decisions on Matty Cash and Johan Manzambi ahead of Aston Villa's clash with Nottingham Forest.
Cash missed Villa's Champions League win over Club Brugge with what Emery described as a "small injury".
"It is difficult, but we will train now in the afternoon, and we will check him in case he is getting better," Emery said when asked about Cash.
"It is a small injury, and he needed a few days [resting], and today we will test him."
Manzambi, meanwhile, is closing in on his Villa debut after returning to training with the squad this week.

Cardale Jones never envisioned being a football coach.
It's a ***** le he's still trying to get used to after joining Matty Jacowleff's staff at Staples as quarterbacks coach this summer.
Part of the fun, of course, is when players find out about Jones' past, a history that features a national championship at Ohio State in 2014.
So how often do the players bring up the championship while working with Jones?
"Every day," Jones said with a laugh. "These guys are insane. They're relentless. Every day, it's another kid coming up to me and saying 'coach Jones, in my free period today, I looked you up on YouTube. I watched you play with this guy and that guy. Man, you were good.'

The dust has settled on what has been an extremely eventful Tottenham Hotspur summer transfer window. You can see how busy Spurs were from the transfer summary article, which isn't even complete despite me doing my best to track it all summer long. (Alasdair Gold counted 54 moves this summer in all squads including reserves and U-squads; clearly I missed some, especially in the youth and reserve teams.) If nothing else, Tottenham Hotspur was certainly not idle.
But how did we do? Well… it's complicated. Spurs spend an obscene amount of money on new signings (£394m by best estimation, not including purchase options), offset a great deal by numerous player sales (£264m including options). The net spend is actually not that bad — £130m all said, which puts it in line with transfer spends in the last few years of the Daniel Levy era.
Spurs have turned over the club in Roberto De Zerbi's image, and whether you think that's a positive or not is very likely going to color your perception of the window as a whole. Matty and I have our takes. Let's see what you think!
Okay, so I'm going to get meta on you all right now. How do you even grade a transfer window? Do you look purely at the players brought in? Or do you look a level deeper, at what those signings imply about leadership and process? In my writing of this blurb, I went back and looked at my summary this time last year (which, by the way I rated as a C+, a rating I would say was pretty apt given the ensuing results, even though many thought we were being overly negative). Here's part of what I said:
There's a few things you need to take into account when looking at this window. There's the actual players signed; there's outgoings; there's the strategic fit; and then there's the timeline by which this happened and the process behind it all. The latter was a resounding, unequivocal failure.

It is officially game week for Notre Dame football, as head coach Marcus Freeman spoke to the media on Monday.
The Irish released its availability report, and it's both positive and negative. Starting off with the good news first, it looks like we may see linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa on the field. He's listed as questionable to face Wisconsin, and personally, if it's not close, I don't think there is a need to play him. Surely KVA wants to be out on the field, but it's hopefully a long season and the Irish will need him to be healthy as the season progresses.
As for the bad news, two expected contributors in wide receiver Quincy Porter and offensive lineman Chris Terek won't see the field, as they have been ruled out. Multiple others won't be ready either including offensive linemen Matty Augustine and Charles Jagusah, defensive lineman Christopher Burgess Jr. and Tiki Hola, linebacker Ko'o Kia and defensive back Chaz Smith.
For the most part, Notre Dame looks very healthy as its gets ready to start its season on Sunday evening against the Badgers.

We asked for your views after Hearts reached the Conference League in fine style, beating Rapid Vienna on penalties in Austria after a 4-4 aggregate draw.
Here are some of your comments:
Martin: What a night. What a long way to have come in such a short time, hats off the the manager. This team is shaping up to be something really special. Passports out for Fridays draw.
Matty G: Stunning performance! The second-half performance deserved the result and a special mention to Calvin Miller, absolute warrior.
Robert: Every single Hearts player involved, take a bow, and the manager of course. Loving the way he sets the team out, no matter who we play. That must be up there with the best European win in Hearts history.

SOUTH BEND —A dozen days away from Notre Dame football's season opener against Wisconsin, Joe Rudolph's offensive line is still holding auditions for 40% of the starting spots.
In addition to the Joe Otting-Ashton Craig battle at center, where team doctors have yet to fully clear Craig in his return from his second torn ACL in as many seasons, there's a turnstile of sorts spinning at right guard.
Or maybe it was just the turn of Styles Prescod, considered the top backup at either tackle spot, to get a longer look at right guard.
"Listen, the competition at right guard is open," offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock said. "And we've got a number of guys we're taking a look at in there. Styles is one of those guys."
Sullivan Absher entered fall camp as the leading candidate at right guard, but a broken foot derailed second-year man Matty Augustine's push to claim the starting job.

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Cricket League (KCL) enters its third season on Thursday with a question that goes beyond who will lift the trophy: Who steps up to own Kerala's T20 stage in the absence of Sanju Samson?

Sanju, the league's biggest star and a key figure in Kochi Blue Tigers' ******* le-winning campaign last season, has opted out citing "personal reasons". It leaves a void, but also opens the door for a new generation to seize the spotlight. Kochi, led by Sanju's brother Saly Samson, will have to prove they can defend their crown without their biggest match-winner.

"Sanju will be missed. His experience was invaluable last season during our ******* le-winning run. But we have a core team of 10 players who performed for us, with seniors like Basil Thampi," Saly said.

The defending champions, who face Kollam Sailors on Thursday at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram, however, are not looking beyond the immediate task. "There's added pressure on us because of the defending champions tag, but we're confident. We have prepared well for this tournament," he said.

The search for the next breakout star could be the defining subplot of KCL 3. Young players will have an opportunity to turn the league into a springboard to Kerala's senior side, the IPL and beyond. Saly reckoned the tournament's unpredictable nature could produce a surprise package.

"I believe that KCL has a knack for throwing up surprises. How you perform on the given day is what makes it count. Some young, relatively unknown player might come good and score a ton or pick up a five-for," he added.

The auction has added another layer of intrigue. Alleppey Ripples' ₹11.8-lakh purchase of Sibin Gireesh made him the league's most expensive player, while Krishna Devan and Sachin Baby also commanded big bids. Baby's move to Alleppey, where he will captain the side, adds another interesting storyline as the former Kerala skipper begins a new chapter.

The KCA has ******* embled a 15-member umpiring panel, including former Kerala captain and ICC elite panel umpire K N Ananthapadmanabhan and BCCI Level 2 umpire Tony Emmatty. Two BCCI-panel umpires will officiate in every game.

Adding another layer of technology is the Hawk-Eye, which will be used to ******* ist reviews and improve the accuracy of decision-making. With four umpires ******* igned to every game and Hawk-Eye enhancing the review process, KCL is aiming for greater professionalism.

As six teams converge on Greenfield, the moot question remains: Without Sanju, who becomes the new face of Kerala's T20 cricket?

Notre Dame has suffered a couple of injuries at fall camp that will likely hold the affected players out for part of the 2026 season.
ESPN reported Wednesday that Fighting Irish offensive lineman Matty Augustine (toe) and cornerback Chaz Smith (wrist) are set to undergo surgery. Neither injury is expected to be season-ending, and both should return to the field later this season.
Augustine, who appeared in three games as a true freshman last season, was competing for a starting spot at right guard on the offensive line. Sullivan Absher and Charles Jagusah were also competing for the job, with the latter making his return after a UTV accident last summer cost him the 2025 season.
Smith is a true freshman and former three-star recruit from Knoxville, Tennessee, and he was not expected to see a major role this fall on a cornerback unit that returns All-American Leonard Moore and adds veteran transfer DJ McKinney.

Notre Dame football has lost two players to injuries suffered in practice, but both are expected to return this season.
Sophomore offensive lineman Matty Augustine injured the fifth metatarsal on his right foot and freshman cornerback Chaz Smith has a scaphoid, right wrist injury.
Both players will need surgery, but the team says both are expected to return in time to play this season -- though a more-precise timeline wasn't given.

If a recent transfer update from The Daily Record is believed to be true, Rangers are eyeing a move for Kosta Nedeljković. They would prefer a permanent deal for the Aston Villa right-back but are also open to a season-long loan with an option to buy contract.
The 20-year-old Serbia international progressed through Red Star Belgrade's academy ranks before being loaned out to Grafičar in the second division for first-team football. He made 20 senior appearances for Red Star during the 2023-24 season and was eventually roped in by the Villans for £8m.
After a sporadic start in the first six months, Nedeljković joined RB Leipzig on loan for the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign. He rejoined the Bundesliga giants last summer, but was hardly involved, primarily due to injury concerns. He has now returned to Villa Park, only to find himself behind Matty Cash, with the latter being the preferred choice on the right.

Unai Emery has often deployed Ezri Konsa and Lamare Bogarde as makeshift fullbacks and, therefore, does not fancy the Serbian in his immediate plans. The youngster, too, should seek a fresh challenge for regular gametime, and a transfer north of the border could earn him ******* ured minutes, given their conundrum in the defensive third.

Taylor Swift's love life has fascinated fans for years, becoming almost as widely discussed as her record-breaking music career. From fellow musicians to acclaimed actors and professional athletes, the global superstar has been linked to some of entertainment's biggest names. While her relationships have often inspired headlines—and occasionally hit songs—they have also fueled endless public curiosity about the people who have shared her journey.
Over the years, Swift has been romantically connected to celebrities including Joe Jonas, Calvin Harris, Harry Styles, John Mayer, Jake Gyllenhaal, Tom Hiddleston, and Alexander Skarsgård. Among her most significant relationships was her romance with British actor Joe Alwyn. Beginning in 2016, the pair kept their relationship remarkably private despite Swift's worldwide fame. During the COVID-19 pandemic, they quarantined together and even collaborated on several songs, with Alwyn receiving songwriting credits on award-winning tracks. After six years together, however, the couple quietly ended their relationship in 2023.
Following a brief romance with Matty Healy, frontman of the British band The 1975, Swift's personal life took another unexpected turn when she began dating NFL superstar Travis Kelce. Their relationship quickly became one of the most talked-about celebrity romances in the world, blending two massive fan bases from music and professional sports. Swift regularly attended Kansas City Chiefs games to support Kelce, while the tight end traveled internationally to watch performances on her record-breaking Eras Tour. Their mutual support and public appearances made them one of entertainment's most recognizable power couples.
The relationship reached a new milestone when the couple became engaged in August 2025. Less than a year later, in July 2026, they reportedly celebrated their wedding at New York City's iconic Madison Square Garden. The ceremony was conducted under extraordinary security measures, including extensive street closures, private security teams, and a guest list filled with celebrities from music, film, sports, and television. Despite the intense public interest surrounding the event, organizers worked carefully to maintain the couple's privacy throughout the celebration.
Taylor Swift's relationships have always attracted enormous media attention, but her romance with Travis Kelce has become one of the defining celebrity stories of recent years. Combining the worlds of global pop music and professional football, the pair have demonstrated how two high-profile careers can support one another while remaining at the center of worldwide attention. Whether through music, sports, or their shared public appearances, Swift and Kelce continue to captivate fans across the globe.

Adley Rutschman is playing baseball! Unfortunately he's doing it in Worcester, not Boston. Still, it was nice to see him behind the plate for five innings, during which he went 1-2 for two walks and threw out a runner. It was also nice for him, given that he played in front of both his father and the family that hosted him during his season playing in the Cape league. "He was great to have. It was exciting, he was coming off being in the College World Series at Oregon State," said his former host Bill Matta. "He'd play with my boys — they played wiffle ball, they'd go for ice cream. And then we'd watch him play." (Matty Wasserman, Boston Globe)
Speaking of rehab, Marcelo Mayer hopes to finish his rehab soon and make his debut with the Giants. He doesn't sound too upset about being shipped west. "It's been, like, six months since I had a burger from In-N-Out, so had to go back," he said. "That's usually the first thing I do when I get home in the offseason. So I was able to get one two months early." (Andrew Baggarly, The Athletic)
Rutschamn didn't need to be worried about being booed by the fans in Worcester. But apparently Willson Contreras did need to worry about it at Fenway. In his first game after returning from an illness, Sox fans booed the team's best player after he didn't run out a grounder to lead off the eighth. Chad Tracy didn't take isssue with his play, though. "I know how that looks," he said. "But I'm also aware, more than others, that he's a little beat up and told us before the game, 'I don't have everything today.' So I'm fine. Especially with a guy that plays the game as hard as he does, and how hard he turns around first base all the time. I'm fine with him." (Peter Abraham, Boston Globe)
Contreras returned just in time to anchor the middle of the lineup on a day when Wilyer Abreu wasn't able to, after he suffered some swelling as a result of hitting a foul ball off his leg on Friday. But he's expected to be back in the lineup this afternoon. (Christopher Smith, MassLive)
Someone who won't be back, though, is Raymond Burgos. Burgos had the unusual honor of pitching three innings in two consecutive games, as he saved the bullpen during yesterday's loss. He's been optioned back to Worcester, with Seth Martinez taking his spot. (Christopher Smith, MassLive)

Colchester United manager Danny Cowley has said "recruitment is really tough at the moment" after his side were beaten 2-0 by Charlton Athletic in a pre-season friendly.
First-half goals from Matty Godden and Karlan Grant secured the victory for the Championship club, but after the match Cowley was happy with his side's performance.
"We didn't plan the pre-season to be easy, that's why we've played Norwich, West Ham twice, Peterborough, Charlton - so we always understood that it was going to be tough for the players. That's how we like it," Cowley told BBC Essex.
"Off the back of the goals, I was really pleased with how the team responded. Recruitment is really tough at the moment, there's no hiding place from that.
"We know what we want. We're not willing to compromise at the moment but we are trying to stay as brave as we can to get the players that we want.

Paris couture sensation Matières Fécales, which just last week dressed Zendaya in a winged goddess gown at "The Odyssey" premiere in New York City, has joined a growing number of luxury brands that are turning the wedding aisle into the new Hollywood red carpet.
The fashion house created three wedding looks for singer/model Gabbriette Bechtel, who married English musician and 1975 frontman Matty Healy last weekend in L.A., in front of a crowd that included Charli XCX, George Daniel, Emily Ratajkowski, Alex Consani and more.
Following the nuptials, the brand issued a press release touting the event as the official launch of Matières Fécale bridalwear. The announcement arrived in my inbox on the heels of one from Saint Laurent with photos and dressing credits for Logan Lerman's Saint Laurent wedding tuxedo, and just weeks after Taylor Swift tied the knot at Madison Square Garden in a still unseen custom Jonathan Anderson Dior gown. (I predict the big reveal will be the September Vogue cover.)

Matty Warhurst leaves Manchester City for Northampton Town.
The teenager moves into League Two for a reported six-figure transfer fee.
Hugo Viana and City have ensured they remain financially interested in the youngster's future with a beneficial clause included in the deal.
Manchester City academy sensation Matty Warhurst has signed for League Two outfit Northampton Town on a permanent basis.
The 19-year-old leaves the City Football Academy after seven years in sky blue following on from his initial acquisition from Oldham Athletic in 2019, and his subsequent transition into Manchester City's academy setup.

Matty Healy and Gabbriette Bechtel have married, just two weeks after the singer's ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift tied the knot with Travis Kelce in New York.
The 1975 frontman, 37, and his model girlfriend, 28, exchanged vows during a glamorous ceremony at Castillo del Lago, a Spanish Colonial Revival Mansion in the Hollywood Hills, which was previously home to Madonna.
The groom wore a black tuxedo to his wedding while his wife slipped into a traditional white gown.Joining the couple in matrimony were many celebrity friends, including Charli XCX and her husband, George Daniel, who is the drummer in Matty's band.
Also among those star-studded guests were Anastasia Karanikolaou, Fai Khadra, Alex Consani, Devon Lee Carlson and her fiancé, Duke Nicholson, Sydney Lynn Carlson, Tyrell Hampton, Alex O'Connor and Quenlin Blackwell.
The couple have been together for three years, having first fallen head over heels in 2023. They enjoyed a nine-month whirlwind romance before Matty popped the question in 2024.

We asked your views on which free agents Coventry City could target this summer.
Here are some of your comments:
Freddie: First, I would push to sign John Stones on a free. He would be an excellent addition with bags of experience to that backline. Secondly, I would avoid trying to bring in someone like Lois Openda, who is neither worth the price tag nor the kind of number nine we need.
Joanne: I would have loved CCFC to sign Kieran Trippier, but it looks like he'll stay at Wolves, even though he didn't seem pleased that they sacked Rob Edwards! So thinking I'd like Stones.
Paz: Yves Bissouma all day! The others are a bit old and the wage demands wouldn't justify it, whereas Bissouma is still in his 20s and has a lot too offer. His standards dropped last season during a very poor campaign for Spurs, but put him in the right environment with the right manager and I think he can do really well. Obviously he'd be back-up to Super Matty Grimes.

Swindon Town have signed experienced midfielder Matty Virtue on a two-year deal.
The 29-year-old has spent the past two seasons at Fleetwood, making 89 appearances before leaving when his contract expired this summer.
He previously played for Blackpool, who signed him from Liverpool in 2019.
Virtue told Swindon's website: "Obviously there's one aim, everyone knows it, and you want to be successful in your football career. The club wants to be successful, so why would I not want to join?"
He added: "It's always nice to come back in; there's always a bit of nerves meeting a new set of lads, and a new staff, but they've all been really helpful and accommodating, and I'm looking forward to kicking on."

North County 11, Hudson 4: Adam Adams went 3 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs, Brodhi Byars was 3 for 4 with an RBI and two runs, J.J. Walker was 2 for 4 with an RBI and two runs, and Will Gage notched two hits and three RBIs to boost visiting North County (5-0-1).
Shamus Rowe, Max Cedeno, Joey Farrell and J.P. Pileeki all singled and scored for Hudson (5-2).
Leominster 7, Framingham 3: Brendan Mariani was 2 for 4 with two runs, while Sawyer Corbin, Danny Nelson and Connor Moriarty all singled and scored to host Leominster (5-1).
Matty Johansson doubled in Ben Morse in the first for Framingam (4-3), Colin Walsh singled in Charlie Jesman in the sixth and Brennan Anderson scored in the seventh.
Northbridge 8, Main South 4: Cody Veneziano went 3 for 4 with two RBIs and run, Jake Costello was 4 for 4 with a run, J.P. Bolduc was 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run, Matt Coughlin notched a hit and two runs, and Alex Vosburgh finished with one hit, one RBI and two runs to visiting Northbridge (4-3).

A new New York Knicks documentary is officially in the works, with Ben Stiller set to direct a multi-part series for HBO and A24 following the franchise’s historic championship season.
Stiller, one of the Knicks’ most devoted celebrity supporters, shared details of the project during an appearance on The Roommates Show with Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart and Matt “Matty Ice” Hillman.
The documentary will explore the broader story of the Knicks, tracing the franchise’s journey from the iconic teams of the 1990s through to the championship-winning campaign that finally ended decades of frustration for fans.
While the Knicks’ ******* le run provides a natural climax, Stiller revealed that the project is designed to tell a much larger story about the organization and its place in New York sports culture.
“Obviously I’ve been shooting some stuff on my phone, but it’s kind of gonna be about all eras of the Knicks. There’s a culmination here of something that has been going on for a long time, so it’s super exciting,” Stiller said on Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart’s podcast, The Roommates Show.

There is a distinct, sometimes harsh reality to the way modern football clubs operate under elite sporting directors, and yesterday Wearside felt this reality as news broke that Under-21 Lead Coach Graeme Murty is set to depart the Academy of Light.
At a glance, this appears to be a casualty of the sweeping, systemic changes being implemented by Kyril Louis-Dreyfus, Florent Ghisolfi, and the club's hierarchy as they seek to completely reshape our youth setup and club operations as a whole.
Since arriving in October 2022 from Rangers, Murty hasn't just been a steady hand at the wheel of the Under-21s; he has been a transformative figure. Under his stewardship, the young Lads didn't just compete; they flourished.
He guided them through a spectacular narrative of development, culminating in a brilliant run to the Premier League Cup final at the Stadium of Light. More importantly, he has been instrumental in bridging the daunting gap to the first team, playing a pivotal role in nurturing elite talent such as Chris Rigg, Matty Young, and Tommy Watson.
During what will prove to be his final season at the club, Murty oversaw a campaign that culminated in that impressive run to the Premier League Cup final. Along the way, he fast-tracked a younger crop of scholars who are now regarded as some of the academy's brightest prospects, including Jenson Jones, Finn Geragusian, Felix Scott, and Marcus Neill.
