Colby Covington may not be all done in MMA.
Despite announcing his retirement in May, the former UFC **** le challenger is still leaving the door open for another go in the octagon. Covington revealed to MMA Junkie that the main reason he retired was so he could aggressively pursue his wrestling career in Real American Freestyle – something he couldn't do as an active UFC fighter.
Covington is 4-0 under RAF and recently claimed the inaugural RAF Cruiserweight Crossover Championship with a win over top UFC lightweight contender Arman Tsarukyan.
"I'm technically retired, technically, but that was just the red proverbial tape I needed to get by so I could get the biggest matchups in RAF," Covington told MMA Junkie. "Everybody knows my first love and passion was always wrestling. My dad got me into wrestling as a kid; it was a family business. He wrestled his whole life. His family, his dad wrestled, so I was just following in the lineage of the generations, following the family tree in the wrestling business. It was always my first true love and passion."
Covington's retirement from MMA might've surprised some, as he was looking to fight at the UFC Freedom 250 event at the White House in June. But with him not getting a spot on the card and not seeing interesting matchups outside of fighting at the White House, Covington just thought it would make more sense to focus on RAF, where he's also an investor.

The Monster Jam monster truck stunt show is back in Jacksonville. Eventgoers can expect big trucks doing big tricks all weekend long.
Typically, this event is held at Everbank Stadium, but because of the Stadium of the Future construction, it's been moved.
Truckloads of dirt were wheeled into Vystar, but the big wheels everyone is interested in are 12,000-pound monster trucks!
"There's nothing like taking a 12,000-pound truck and doing a backflip into a nose wheel combo or something crazy like that," said monster truck driver Tony Ochs.
The Saturday and Sunday event features driver competitions in three categories: Racing, 2 Wheel Skills and Freestyle. Some of the stunts include back flips and vertical two-wheel tricks.

Khamzat Chimaev is back on the RAF mats and he has a fellow former UFC champion in his sights as he takes on Tyron Woodley on Saturday in the RAF Moscow main event.
RAF Moscow goes down at VTB Arena, with Chimaev and Woodley headlining, and Russian Olympic wrestling champion Abdulrashid Sadulaev taking on Zac Braunagel in the co-main event.
This marks Chimaev's second RAF appearance following a pinfall win over Dillon Danis this past June, while Woodley is also coming off of an RAF victory over Joaquin Buckley, Woodley's first combat sports victory of any kind since 2018. Previously, Chimaev and Woodley held UFC ***** les at 185 pounds and 170 pounds, respectively.

Bloomington native, former Indiana University standout and 1976 Olympian Jennifer Brinegar has been named the new head swimming coach at Franklin College.
She succeeds Zach Rayce, who departed after two seasons to become the aquatic director and head coach at Indian Creek High School.
"Jennifer Brinegar is one of the most accomplished names in the history of Indiana swimming, and we are thrilled to welcome her to Franklin College," Griz athletic director Lance Marshall said in a press release Tuesday, Sept. 1. "Her championship pedigree, years of coaching success and her deep roots in this state's swimming community make her the ideal person to lead our program into its next chapter. Our student-athletes are going to learn from someone who has competed and coached at the highest level, and that's a tremendous opportunity for Griz athletics."
Brinegar attended Bloomington South High School before moving to Louisville, Kentucky to train and find more competition. Girls swimming was not offered as a competitive sport by the IHSAA in 1974-75.
She made the 1976 U.S. Olympic team as a 15-year-old and made the final in the women's 200-meter freestyle while also swimming in a preliminary heat for the gold-medal winning 400 free relay. She went on to win a pair of national championships in 1977, a gold medal in the 400 free relay at the 1978 World Aquatics Championships and a silver in the 800 free at the 1979 Pan American Games.

Perry made the announcement during Thursday's Duel Arena 1 pre-fight press conference. On 48-hours notice, former UFC fight Brandon Jenkins stepped in to face "Platinum" at Kia Center. The bout headlines the fight card.
"Let's not beat around the bush. This p*ssy ****** b*tch Dillon Danis didn't show the f*ck up," Perry said. "He's not here. He backed the f*ck out because he's a p*ssy.
"I want to give a shout out to my new opponent Brandon Jenkins. He's getting on a plane right now. He's flying here to weigh in the morning like a professional and fight me on Saturday night."
Danis pulling out of fights is nothing new. He last fought MMA in August 2025, defeating Warren Spencer at Misfits 22. He's had freestyle wresting matches in RAF against Colby Covington and Khamzat Chimaev earlier this year and is scheduled to face Arman Tsarukyan for the inaugural RAF Middleweight Crossover Championship in the main event on October 3, 2026 at RAF 14.

Four-time Formula 1 World Champion Max Verstappen is stepping back into his karting roots for a live racing spectacle that's sure to be loads of fun. Red Bull has officially announced "Max vs. 100," an event where Verstappen will attempt to navigate a packed 101-kart grid and pass 100 drivers to claim victory.
The live broadcast will air globally on September 16th via Disney+ and the ESPN App.

Canada's Coles beat the United States' Taylor Whiting in a 3:45 fall and India's Muskan Muskan 9-7 in her first two bouts. In a semifinal matchup, Coles topped China's Yuxuan Li 14-7.
Coles became Canada's first world champion in 2024 at the Under-17 level. She earned gold at the 2024 Pan-American Championships as a 53-kilogram wrestler.

Over that time, Tsaurkyan, 29, has gone 7-1 in wrestling matches with Real American Freestyle (RAF) and racked up a 3-0-1 record in submission grappling matches.
Tsarukyan revealed on Monday's "The Ariel Helwani Show" that a rematch against Charles Oliveira was originally on tap for his UFC return bout.
"I was supposed to fight with Charles, co-main event, five rounds," Tsarukyan said. "Then I went for my training camp, and they, in two weeks, when I was in the mountains, called me and said, 'We got a new name for you. It's Ruffy.' I said, 'OK. No problem.'
"I don't want to pull out and wait for Charles, because [it's] LA, five rounds, it's a big card, and I have not fought in long time. I need this fight, so yeah, that's all."

It appears Jordan Williams won't be leaving Iowa wrestling after all.
After announcing on March 31 that he would be entering the transfer portal, Williams posted on social media on July 25 that he would be returning to the Hawkeyes. An Iowa spokesperson confirmed to the Des Moines Register on Aug. 10 that Williams was on the roster and that the plan was for Williams to be on the team this coming season.
Williams is coming off an inspired run of freestyle action this summer. He began with a solid U.S. Open performance in Las Vegas. He took third in the Senior Freestyle division at 70 kilograms, including a win over high school phenom Melvin Miller. Williams finished behind a pair of NCAA champions — Ridge Lovett (Nebraska) and Caleb Henson (Virginia Tech). Following that, Williams also took fourth at the Senior World Team Trials, won a U23 national ****** le at 70 kilograms and was a U23 Pan-Am gold medalist. He will also represent the United States at the U23 World Championships in October.

The UFC lightweight is scheduled to face DillonDanis at RAF 14 on Oct. 3 at Fontainebleau in Las Vegas. Thewrestling promotion recently announced that the match will becontested for the RAF middleweight crossover championship. The UFC lightweight is scheduled to face DillonDanis at RAF 14 on Oct. 3 at Fontainebleau in Las Vegas. Thewrestling promotion recently announced that the match will becontested for the RAF middleweight crossover championship. The newscomes less than one week after the UFC announced Tsarukyan (23-3)will face MauricioRuffy (14-2) at UFC331 on Sept. 19 in Los Angeles.
Tsarukyan has fought just once in 2024 and once in 2025, with hislatest victory in mixed martial arts coming against Dan Hooker inNovember last year. However, he's competed in 15 wrestling andsubmission grappling matches over the last two years, goingunbeaten in all but one. In his last wrestling match under the RAFbanner, he was outpointed by ColbyCovington.
He has collected victories over LancePalmer, Georgio Poullas, UrijahFaber, KeelonJimison, TonyFerguson and KuatKhamitov in RAF so far. His next outing will be against Danisin October at RAF 14 in Las Vegas. Danis will attempt to snap atwo-fight losing streak under the RAF banner. The jiu jitsuspecialist lost to Covington in March before falling to former UFCmiddleweight champion KhamzatChimaev in June.
