If you think Army is going to run over, around and through the South Florida defense the way the Black Knights did against Bryant in week one, think again.
There were a lot of positives to draw from as Army rolled up a school-record 648 yards of total offense and 569 rushing yards on the way to a 59-3 victory over Bryant. With a rout in progress, Army went deep into its bench and utilized 16 different ball carries, including three quarterbacks.
South Florida is not Bryant. The Bulls feature a defensive front that averages 6-foot-3, 293 pounds per man (Major Dillard is 330 pounds at nose, Asani Redwood is 300 at tackle and Michael Williams is 250 at end), compared to the Bryant squad that averaged 30 pounds less. Jump to the linebackers, and USF features a group that averages 6-3, 233 pounds, more than a dozen pounds heavier than the similar Bryant unit. You can also expect South Florida's defenders will be quicker to close off the edges, perhaps cutting off Army's success on the perimeter.
The Bulls held Florida International to 80 yards on 25 carries in a 19-9 win on the evening of Sept 5. FIU did roll up 301 yards of passing, on 62% of completed throws, but run-dominant Army has not been a passing threat for many years.
Based off last week's starting lineup (the Bulls do not release depth charts to the media), the South Florida defense fields nine starters who transferred in from other Division I schools. Linebackers C.J. Hicks (Ohio State), Grayson Howard (South Carolina and Florida) and Sam Robinson (Rutgers) played Power 4 ball, as did Redwood (West Virginia) up front. Corner Teddy Foster (Florida) and 'Star' Amanio Fortenberry (Kansas State) help anchor the secondary.

Bayern Munich defended forward Michael Olise after he caused a stir this week due to a post-match interview, in which he only replied with extremely monosyllabic answers.
"Michael Olise is someone who wants to play football, and off the pitch is not his forte. It's a big thing in the media, but on other channels he's being celebrated just as much for his conduct. What's most important to us is that he shows his ability on the pitch," Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl said in a news conference on Saturday.
"And the kids and teenagers can identify with it a bit more than perhaps we can," he added.
Following the 5-0 win over Bodø/Glimt in the Champions League on Thursday, Olise was named "Player of the Match" and appeared in an interview with broadcaster DAZN.
"I don't know," Olise said when asked how it felt to score a stunning goal. The reporter then asked how moments like that happen and the France international replied: "I shoot. Then it goes in, or it doesn't."

Tech stocks were under heavy pressure on Tuesday as rising bond yields weighed on growth ******* ets and chip stocks slid.
It's a momentous day for Apple (AAPL) as former senior vice president of hardware engineering John Ternus becomes CEO, succeeding Tim Cook after Cook's 15 years in the top spot.
Cook is handing Ternus a "very healthy company," Maxim Group ******* yst Tom Forte told Yahoo Finance, but the road could become more challenging for Ternus and Apple in the coming years. Forte estimated that Wall Street would give Ternus a six- to 12-month grace period to find his footing.
Among Ternus's first tests will be an escalating legal battle between Apple and OpenAI. Apple accused the AI startup of stealing trade secrets as it looks to build a competing AI device for its ChatGPT model. On Monday, Apple also alleged that OpenAI was destroying evidence in the case, Bloomberg reported.
In a separate filing on Monday, OpenAI sought to block Apple's preliminary injunction request to prevent OpenAI from using potential trade secrets, calling the lawsuit "baseless" and an attempt to forestall the AI company from building a device that could unseat the iPhone.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship touched down again at the SPDBank Oriental Sports Center in Shanghai, China, for an excitingevent.
In the UFC Shanghai headliner, UmarNurmagomedov and Yadong Songlocked horns in an exciting 135-pound tilt with **** le implications. In the co-main event, UFC strawweight veteran Xiaonan Yancollided with up-and-comer DeniseGomes. The event saw 10 fights end inside the distance, withmost by knockout.

The UFC Shanghai main event ended with a huge upset as Song(24-9-1, 1 NC; 13-4-1 UFC) starched former 135-pound **** lechallenger Nurmagomedov (20-2, 8-2 UFC). With the currentdivisional **** leholder Petr Yan andNo. 1 challenger MerabDvalishvili already set to lock horns in October, the logicalmatchup for Song seems to be a rematch with Sean O'Malley. "Suga"impressed in his outing at UFC White House, and the "Kung Fu Kid"looks mature enough to overcome his rival, and possibly not leaveit in the judges' hands this time. In their first encounter,O'Malley took home a unanimous decision victory.

"Burguesinha" is currently riding an impressive13-bout winning streak. The winner of this clash might be next fora dance with the current divisional queen, MackenzieDern.
It took a little more than a round for Kai Asakura(23-6, 2-2 UFC) to stop onetime Wu Lin Feng **** leholder Qileng Aori(26-14, 1 NC; 4-6, 1 NC UFC) with a praiseworthy sequence started by a head kick followed by punches and punctuated by someknees to the body. Will Forte may be best known for making audiences laugh, but his life away from the screen is filled with unexpected stories. Born Orville Willis Forte IV, he went by Billy as a child before eventually adopting Will, the name that would follow him into his entertainment career. Long before Hollywood, his energetic personality was already evident through impressions, elaborate pranks and a competitive streak.
Growing up in California, Forte balanced comedy with athletics. He participated in football and swimming during high school and was voted "Best Personality" by his graduating class. Those early years revealed many of the qualities that would later become **** ociated with his comedy: persistence, unpredictability and a willingness to fully commit to whatever caught his attention.
Forte has also spoken publicly about living with obsessive compulsive disorder and how it can affect his behavior. One recurring tendency involves feeling compelled to complete tasks once he has started them. Whether working through a puzzle or finishing an everyday chore, walking away before reaching the end can be difficult. That intense focus has occasionally produced some unusual results outside his professional life.
One particularly memorable example involved the classic arcade game Donkey Kong. While working on a movie in 2011, Forte became fascinated with the game between scenes and devoted considerable time to improving his score. His dedication eventually became serious enough that he reportedly reached 36th place in the game's competitive rankings at one point. For someone primarily known as an actor and comedian, becoming a highly ranked Donkey Kong player was an appropriately unexpected achievement.
His personal life entered a new chapter after he met businesswoman Olivia Modling at a party in 2018. Their relationship developed away from much of Hollywood's attention, and the couple married in 2021. They have since welcomed two daughters, adding family life to Forte's increasingly varied list of roles.

The Western Australian (WA) Government and the Yindjibarndi Ngurra Aboriginal Corporation (YNAC) have lodged separate appeals against a Federal Court ruling that required Fortescue Metals Group to pay $107.9m (A$150.3m) in compensation.
The payment relates to iron ore mining activities on Yindjibarndi land carried out without a native **** le agreement.
The judgement, delivered in May, is regarded as one of the largest under Australia's native **** le laws, encompassing A$150m for cultural loss, A$150,000 for economic loss and additional interest.
The YNAC has confirmed its appeal seeks a higher compensation amount.
CEO Michael Woodley said the group is contesting the court's use of a pastoral-based freehold value and its rejection of a royalty-based compensation model.

The NY Rangers could be facing a rather surprising roster decision when training camp arrives later this fall.
That roster decision could lead to a once blue line mainstay on the outside looking in: Urho Vaakanainen.
That might seem implausible considering Vaakanainen is a perfectly capable NHL defenseman. But that's exactly what makes this situation somewhat complex. The Rangers have added more competition to their blue line, and suddenly there may not be enough room for everyone.
The NY Rangers brought in Marcus Pettersson and Sean Durzi, while players such as Matthew Robertson and Drew Fortescue are also competing for opportunities. Scott Morrow in particular is expected to challenge for a spot on the NHL roster.
That creates a numbers game.

MIAMI: Liam Hicks of the Miami Marlins looks on against the San Diego Padres in the ninth inning of the game at loanDepot park on July 25, 2026 in Miami, Florida. (Photo by Megan Briggs/Getty Images)
Of all the catchers the Rays have traded for in recent years, Liam Hicks stands out because he is a clear upgrade. True, the 27-year-old Toronto native has kicked around since he was drafted by the Rangers in the ninth round of the 2021 draft out of Arkansas State. True, he joins Tampa Bay after hitting only one homer and three extra-base hits in his final 28 games – though he batted .292 – with Miami since being activated from the injured list, which he was placed on due to lower back strain in June.
Tampa Bay is Hicks' fourth organization in six seasons of professional baseball. The lefthanded hitter may stay put for a while. Breaking through offensively the way he has this season -- .282, 14 homers and 62 RBI -- combined with team control through 2030 are reasons why Rays' fans should feel good. Maybe a sigh of relief is in order as well given how the position has chronically underperformed. A larger sigh will be in order when Hicks rediscovers his power stroke again.
In acquiring Hicks, who is making $790,000 this season, the Rays sent three prospects to Miami: 24-year-old infielder Brayden Taylor (Rays' No. 16), 23-year-old RHP Jacob Kisting (No. 26) and 21-year-old shortstop Adrian Santana (No. 27). It marked the second straight day ahead of the trade deadline that Tampa Bay acquired a player for a trio of prospects, neither of whom was ranked higher than No. 15 in their system. The Rays acquired Freddy Peralta from the Mets on Sunday afternoon.
Hicks, who has struck out only 39 times in 354 at-bats and is joining a team that has fanned the fewest times in MLB, replaces Hunter Feduccia (dealt to the Dodgers) as the lefty in the catching platoon with Nick Fortes. He could also spell Jonathan Aranda at first base and give DH Yandy Diaz a break from time to time. Hicks became expendable because Joe Mack, who also hits from the left side and is four years younger, has emerged behind the plate for Clayton McCullough's team.

With the Tampa Bay Rays holding strong atop the American League East, they opted to use the 2026 MLB trade deadline to add another key piece. The Rays acquired 27-year-old catcher Liam Hicks from the Miami Marlins in exchange for multiple prospects, as ESPN's Jeff Passan first reported. The deal comes after the Rays also acquired Freddy Peralta via trade from the New York Mets, bolstering their starting pitching staff.
Hicks is in the midst of an impressive breakout season, with 100 hits in 101 games thus far. He's posted marks of .265/.355/.391 with 14 home runs and 62 RBIs. The addition of Hicks will give the Rays another weapon as they look to make a run to the World Series, and we're going to break down their new-look roster and lineup.
C: Liam Hicks
Hunter Feduccia, Nick Fortes
1B: Jonathan Aranda

For the second game in a row, White Sox pitchers held the more-or-less-league-average offense of the Rays to one run, but this time the hitters forgot to send missiles out of the park. Or, much of any in the park.
Still despite being shut out, there were some good things to grow on.
Using an opener for Noah Schultz turned out to be a good idea. Jordan Hicks, playing the role for the first time, had a clean first inning, and Schultz then followed with one of his best outings of the year, five innings of three-hit, no-walk ball, the only run coming on a bloop single by Nick Fortes in the fifth off a pretty good pitch:

Schultz had excellent control, especially given his history, throwing first-pitch strikes 12 of 19 times.

The biopharma sector is in the middle of a transformation in which macroeconomic pressures and policy developments actively dictate corporate dealmaking. As leading pharmaceutical companies prepare for a $300 billion patent cliff in the second half of the decade, capital allocation has switched sharply toward restocking commercial pipelines with low-risk, high-conviction clinical ******* ets. At the same time, implementation of the Inflation Reduction Act has changed the relative attractiveness of drug options. Since small-molecule drugs are subject to government price negotiations earlier in their lifecycle compared to large-molecule biologics, commercial buyers are shifting premium valuations to large-molecule immunology platforms.
Against this macro context, argenx SE (NASDAQ:ARGX) entered a definitive all-cash agreement on July 27 to acquire clinical-stage biotech Forte Biosciences, Inc. (NASDAQ:FBRX) for $77 per share, valuing the company at over $2.2 billion. At first glance, the $77 offer represents a 40% premium to Forte's closing price prior to the announcement. However, the underlying deal economics demonstrate argenx's readiness to pay a premium for clinical validation: when compared to Forte's volume-weighted average pricing following its successful Phase 1b vitiligo readout on July 9, the purchase price represents an 86% premium.
The target ******* et, Forte's FB102, is a first-in-class anti-CD122 antibody that has shown clinical efficacy in vitiligo and celiac disease. In a 24-week experiment, FB102 showed a significant 29.6% mean improvement on the Facial Vitiligo Area Scoring Index, separating from placebo by day 64.
Argenx's ability to carry out a $2.2 billion cash deal stems from its strong financial condition. The company's Q1 2026 financial report showed global product net sales of $1.3 billion, a 63% increase year-over-year, as well as a quarterly net profit of $366 million and a strong balance sheet with $4.9 billion in cash and financial ******* ets. This commercial momentum is almost exclusively driven by Vyvgart, the company's blockbuster FcRn-blocking medication, which is now seeing its 17th straight quarter of growth.
That said, the explosive top-line trajectory poses a major concentration risk. According to CEO Karen Massey's "Vision 2030" framework, which targets 50,000 patients and ten designated indications worldwide, argenx SE (NASDAQ:ARGX) needs a supplementary second leg in immunology. FB102 offers that diversification by delivering a unique CD122 mechanism into unserved autoimmune indications without jeopardizing its core FcRn business.

Fred Alger Management, an investment management company, released its "Alger Small Cap Focus Fund" second-quarter 2026 investor letter. A copy of the letter can be downloaded here. U.S. equities experienced a strong recovery in Q2 2026, with the S&P 500 Index gaining 15.2%, marking its best quarter since 2020. A ceasefire between the United States and Iran and accelerated investment in artificial intelligence (AI) fueled market optimism in the quarter, driving the Information Technology and Industrials sectors forward while Energy and Utilities lagged due to falling oil and gas prices. In June, the Federal Reserve maintained steady interest rates, but the meeting had a hawkish tone. As AI transitions into its agentic phase, opportunities are identified within sectors adopting the technology. The Alger Small Cap Focus Fund's Class A shares outperformed the Russell 2000 Growth Index in the quarter, driven by strong performances in the Industrials and Health Care sectors, while Financials and Consumer Discretionary detracted from the performance. In addition, please check the Fund's top five holdings to know its best picks in 2026.
In its Q2 2026 investor letter, Alger Small Cap Focus Fund highlighted Forte Biosciences, Inc. (NASDAQ:FBRX). Forte Biosciences, Inc. (NASDAQ:FBRX), a US-based clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company, detracted from the Fund's performance during the quarter. On July 20, 2026, Forte Biosciences, Inc. (NASDAQ:FBRX) closed at $47.49 per share, reflecting a market capitalization of $972.54 million. Forte Biosciences, Inc. (NASDAQ:FBRX) posted a one-month return of 161.65%, while its shares gained 355.32% over the past 52 weeks.
Alger Small Cap Focus Fund stated the following regarding Forte Biosciences, Inc. (NASDAQ:FBRX) in its Q2 2026 investor update:
"Forte Biosciences, Inc. (NASDAQ:FBRX) is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing FB102, an anti-CD122 monoclonal antibody with potential application across a range of autoimmune conditions, including celiac disease, vitiligo, and alopecia areata. We view Forte favorably given the differentiated mechanism underlying FB102 and its potential applicability across multiple sizeable indications, supported by encouraging early celiac data and a series of meaningful clinical readouts anticipated through the balance of the year. Shares detracted from performance during the quarter, pressured by an equity raise whose limited initial disclosure was poorly received, as well as by growing investor impatience as anticipated vitiligo data extended beyond the previously communicated timeline. Despite a challenging quarter, we remain constructive ahead of the celiac readout expected later this year and cautiously optimistic on the forthcoming vitiligo results. We believe FB102 retains meaningful strategic value as its clinical profile comes into clearer focus."

It takes a lot to overshadow a 4-for-4 night from Yandy Díaz. Eleven strikeouts, zero walks, and another dominant performance from the Rays' pitching staff did just that in Wednesday's 3-0 win over the Yankees.
This time it was Shane McClanahan setting the tone, followed seamlessly by Cole Sulser and Bryan Baker, as the Rays carved through New York's lineup for a 3-0 victory. The Yankees drew no walks, struck out 11 times, and spent most of the evening chasing a moving target.
The game nearly took a different turn in the second inning.
Jasson Domínguez and Anthony Volpe opened the frame with back-to-back singles, putting runners on the corners with **** ody out and giving the Yankees an early chance to build momentum. Instead, McClanahan delivered a defensive play that defined his night. Max Schuemann bounced a comebacker that turned into a frantic scramble, but McClanahan calmly fielded it, flipped home to Nick Fortes, and erased Domínguez trying to score. What could easily have been a Yankees run became the second out, and when Austin Wells popped out moments later, New York walked away empty-handed.
Yandy Díaz got things rolling in the third with a double into left, his second hit in as many trips. Jonathan Aranda followed with a line drive single to right, bringing Díaz home for the night's first run and a 1-0 lead.
McClanahan made quick work of the Yankees over the next three innings. The left-hander mixed his fastball and breaking pitches beautifully, generating weak contact early and strikeouts whenever he needed them. By the middle innings, New York hitters looked increasingly uncomfortable, often walking back toward the dugout after another late swing or frozen take.

Baseball fans will only have three to four more months to gripe about longtime umpire C.B. Bucknor.
Bucknor, 63, has accepted MLB's buyout offer and will retire after the season, USA Today's Bob Nightengale reports.
Beginning as a National League umpire in 1996, Bucknor officiated games throughout MLB when the NL and AL umpiring staffs merged in 2000 following a labor dispute. Following the retirement of Phil Cuzzi in February, Bucknor became the longest-tenured active umpire in the majors.
However, Bucknor has not worked a game since taking a foul ball to his face mask during an April 1 matchup between the Milwaukee Brewers and Tampa Bay Rays. During the second inning of that game, Rays catcher Nick Fortes fouled off a 100.2 mph inside fastball from Jacob Misiorowski and the ball went directly into Bucknor's mask. The umpire went to his knees after the impact.
After being evaluated by trainers, Bucknor was able to stand up without ******* istance but was advised to leave the game.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — Griffin Jax pitched five strong innings, Yandy Díaz tied Tampa Bay's franchise record for career RBIs and the Rays defeated the Kansas City Royals 5-3 on Wednesday night.
Jax (3-5) struck out seven while allowing two unearned runs and five hits. It was his fourth start in a row with at least five innings pitched and less than two earned runs allowed. Bryan Baker gave up a run in the ninth, but closed it out for his 20th save.
Díaz hammered a line drive to left field in the fourth inning to tie B.J. Upton's franchise mark of 447 RBIs and give Tampa Bay a 4-0 lead. Jonny DeLuca followed with an RBI double.
Nick Fortes and Díaz opened the scoring in the third when they both scored after Royals first baseman Jac Caglianone fielded Ryan Vilade's grounder and stepped on the bag for the out — but then his throw home went wide of catcher Salvador Perez. Jonathan Aranda added a one-run single to put the Rays up 3-0.
Noah Cameron (4-5) gave up all five runs on eight hits in five innings for the Royals.

After the Rays took game one, the Nats grinded out a one run win in game two of the three game set. That sets the stage for a rubber match this afternoon. The Nats will look to win yet another series, while the Rays look to stay hot at home.
Blake Butera made a few tweaks to his lineup. Jacob Young is out of the lineup after banging into the wall yesterday. The outfield will consist of Daylen Lile in left, Dylan Crews in center and James Wood in right. Jose Tena will be in the DH spot and Drew Millas will be behind the plate. Andrew Alvarez is on the mound, and the Nats will look for more length than usual from the southpaw.
With a lefty on the mound, the Rays are making a few changes. Ryan Vilade will make his first start of the series in right field. Jonny DeLuca will also be back in the lineup. Ben Williamson will play second base, while Nick Fortes gets his first start of the series behind the plate. Nick Martinez has been a great signing for the Rays, and will take the ball today.

Luciano Spalletti and new Juventus CEO Giovanni Carnevali spent an evening together at the renowned Il Fortino restaurant in Forte dei Marmi this week, sharing a table with Adriano Galliani, Massimiliano Allegri and Giovanni Rossi in what has become one of Italian football’s most well-known informal networking spots.
The dinner was social in nature, full of anecdotes, laughter and wine, though in a gathering of this calibre, transfer business is never entirely off the menu, as noted by Tuttosport.
Forte dei Marmi is a traditional summer meeting point for football’s movers and shakers, with Spalletti, Allegri and Galliani having previously shared tables there alongside figures including Gianluca Zambrotta and former Genoa president Enrico Preziosi.
