Former Miss Dominican Republic Andreína Martínez is getting closer to another major international stage. The Dominican model and beauty queen has been named one of 10 finalists in Victoria's Secret's search for its newest Angel, putting her in contention for a spot on the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2026 runway.
Martínez, who represented the Dominican Republic at Miss Universe 2022 and finished as second runner-up, advanced from a massive pool of more than 100,000 applicants. She is also reported to be the only Latina among the final 10 contestants.

The milestone comes months after Martínez publicly shared her goal of making it onto the Victoria's Secret runway. "Hi, I'm Andreína and I want to be an Angel," Martínez said in a video announcing her pursuit of the opportunity.

Like today, these shows often featured a cross-section of talent across movies, music, TV, sports, and even politics. A panel might contain individuals with wildly different points of view, which could lead to occasional, if unintentional, fireworks.
A taping of The **** Cavett Show in 1972 illustrates just how easily things could explode.
Actress and comedian Lily Tomlin was the first guest of the evening. She was there to promote her new comedy album, and everything seemed to be going according to plan. Tomlin was asked about being a cheerleader in high school and auditioning for Cavett's program before she shot to fame on TV's Laugh-In. If you haven't seen her portrayals of the snarky, snorting telephone operator Ernestine or her precocious little girl character, Edith Ann, do yourself a favor and watch.
After a commercial break, actor Chad Everett sat down next to Tomlin as Cavett's second guest on the panel. That's when everything started to go awry.
Everett, who played a doctor on the series Medical Center, was there to hype a TV nature special that he had narrated. Naturally, this led Cavett to lob a few softball questions about Everett's love of the outdoors and what life was like at home on his ranch.

Will Forte may be best known for making audiences laugh, but his life away from the screen is filled with unexpected stories. Born Orville Willis Forte IV, he went by Billy as a child before eventually adopting Will, the name that would follow him into his entertainment career. While working on a movie in 2011, Forte became fascinated with the game between scenes and devoted considerable time to improving his score. His dedication eventually became serious enough that he reportedly reached 36th place in the game's competitive rankings at one point. For someone primarily known as an actor and comedian, becoming a highly ranked Donkey Kong player was an appropriately unexpected achievement.
His personal life entered a new chapter after he met businesswoman Olivia Modling at a party in 2018. Their relationship developed away from much of Hollywood's attention, and the couple married in 2021. They have since welcomed two daughters, adding family life to Forte's increasingly varied list of roles.

Holly Marie Combs has revealed she has "retired" from acting.
The Charmed star broke the news of her decision to step back from the screen during an episode of her House of Halliwell podcast on 25 August.
"The stuff that I was getting and coming across my desk was just nothing that I was like, 'Oh my gosh, this is really great. I need to do this,'" Combs explained. "And being in, you know, that 40 to 50 range, the job pool gets even smaller and smaller. And I feel like the roles get a little less interesting."
It's been nearly seven years since the Pretty Little Liars actor has appeared in an on-screen role.
The 52-year-old now lives in Washington state with her husband Mike Ryan and her three kids, Finley, 22, Riley, 19, and Kelley, 17, whom she shares with her ex-husband David Donoho.
Spending more time with her family is another reason she's decided to call it quits.

Joy-Anna and Austin first crossed paths as children, when she was about 4 and he was 8. Their families later saw less of one another before reconnecting, and Joy-Anna said she began "crushing hard" on him around age 14, according to PEOPLE's account of the conversation.
Their romantic relationship developed years later, shortly before she turned 18, and they ultimately married in May 2017 when she was 19 and he was 23.
Jinger pointed out that she actually has a larger age difference with her own husband, Jeremy Vuolo, than Joy-Anna has with Austin. Still, the four years separating her sister and brother-in-law always felt more significant to her because she remembered how young Joy-Anna was when the relationship became serious.

A former X Factor finalist accused of murdering a woman by running her over with a car in central London has been given seven days to confirm who will represent her at her trial.
Gabrielle Carrington, 29, denies killing Klaudia Zakrzewska outside the Inca nightclub in Soho on 19 April. Zakrzewska, 32, died from her injuries six days later.
It is alleged a woman got into a car before it lurched forward and hit Zakrzewska.
Carrington, from Manchester, appeared at the Old Bailey and told the court it would be "crazy" to represent herself and said she would confirm her chosen legal firm by 17 August. She was not represented in court by a barrister on Tuesday afternoon.
