The biggest edition in the history of the Brasileirão Women's A3 came to an end on Saturday night (5), with Planalto-GO's players and coaching staff celebrating the ******* le won over Juventude-SE at Lourival Batista Stadium in Aracaju. Away from home, the Planaltinas repeated the 1-0 scoreline from the first leg and were crowned champions.
For the first time, the tournament, added to the national calendar in 2022, surpassed the 100-match mark in a single season, jumping from 78 to 126 games. The move was part of the restructuring of the national calendar aimed at promoting and consolidating the sport ahead of the World Cup in Brazil.
The tournament adopted a home-and-away format in the first phase and increased from 11 to 14 dates. In its inaugural edition, in 2022, it was played entirely as a knockout competition. Each team played at least two matches. Now, six fixtures are guaranteed.
Just by taking part in Série A3, all 32 teams qualify for the Women's Copa do Brasil, which automatically guarantees them a fuller calendar and greater competitiveness during the season.
