Nippert Stadium has hosted night football games dating back to 1923's 17-0 victory over Kentucky Wesleyan.
The tradition continues as the Cincinnati Bearcats host the Western Carolina Catamounts, an FCS team that last played here in 2005. Since 2000, UC is 20-0 vs. FCS competition. Dating back to 2006, when UC knocked off then-No. 7 Rutgers under the lights 30-11, the Bearcats are 39-16 in "Nipp at Night" games.
This is the second of four straight games in Cincinnati for the 1-0 Bearcats. Next week, they're at TQL Stadium for "The Battle for the Victory Bell" vs. the Miami RedHawks. UC finishes the stretch Sept. 26 with their opening Big 12 game against Kansas State.

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's shocking divorce led to much speculation about a family rift, especially after claims that their daughters were fighting over the breakup. However, it seems that the two, who split in September 2025 after 19 years of marriage, are slowly getting back on good terms.
"Things have gotten so much better," a source recently told the National Enquirer. "They're actually speaking again — and he's now suggesting that they should do Christmas as a family in Australia."

Jennifer Aniston reportedly cannot stop bringing a comparison between her boyfriend, Jim Curtis, to her exes. According to a new report, a source claimed that the "Friends" alum has gained an entirely new perspective on her relationships in the past after her romance with the wellness author and hypnotherapist. The Hollywood star allegedly believes that Jim Curtis is "the best lover" she has ever had.
Jennifer Aniston reportedly believes that "none of her exes can compare" to her current boyfriend, Jim Curtis. As reported by the National Enquirer, a source told them that "Jen fully admits that she and Jim are still in the honeymoon stage." The source then explained that the couple has been in a romantic relationship for more than a year now.
According to the source, it is quite "remarkable" for the actor and the wellness author to still share this type of "electricity," which generally begins to "fade at this point in a relationship."
Furthermore, the insider claimed that Jennifer Aniston can't stop comparing her beau, Jim Curtis, to the others she was in a relationship with in the past. The "Just Go With It" actor was married to Brad Pitt from 2000 to 2005. She also had a married life with Justin Theroux from 2015 to 2018.
Per the insider, according to the actor, the hypnotherapist is "hands down the best lover she's had in every way." The source continued, "Brad was obviously incredibly handsome and there was plenty of passion between them. But looking back, she sees how much of that relationship revolved around him and his needs."

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's divorce included reports of inappropriate flirting, growing jealousy and their two daughters, Sunday Rose, 18, and Faith Margaret, 15, picking sides. Nine months after finalizing their split, however, a source says the exes have become cordial.
"Things have gotten so much better," the source confirms to the National Enquirer. "They're actually speaking again — and he's now suggesting that they should do Christmas as a family in Australia."
As Enquirer previously revealed, the Practical Magic 2 actress, 59, spent the 2025 holiday season in Australia with the pair's girls following her September divorce filing. She'd cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason her 19-year marriage to the country singer, 58, ended.
"It was the first time they didn't celebrate Christmas as a family," reveals the source. "For obvious reasons, the last person Nicole wanted to see was Keith."

With former Bearcats and NFL stars Jason and Travis Kelce, Connor Barwin and Brent Celek on hand, the University of Cincinnati football squad extended its home-opening winning streak to 25 games on Sept. 5, bashing Boston College 34-15.
The game was a slow grind with UC holding leads of 3-0 after one quarter and 10-0 at halftime. It was 24-0 late in the third quarter before Boston College scored and a late touchdown pass with just over a minute to go cut the Eagles' final deficit to 19.
In the UC vs. Boston College game preview, The Enquirer predicted 200-plus running yards.
Outcome: The Bearcats ran for 254 yards, with fifth-year player Gi'Bran Payne, who ran for 108. The last UC player to surpass 100 yards on the ground was Tawee Walker last Nov. 15 against Arizona.
We also said the Bearcats would pass for more than 200 yards.

CINCINNATI (AP) — The NCAA has cleared the University of Cincinnati of any wrongdoing in its investigation of former quarterback Brendan Sorsby.
Sorsby played the 2024 and '25 seasons for the Bearcats before transferring to Texas Tech. He was ruled permanently ineligible by the NCAA in April after he placed thousands of impermissible sports bets over the past four years at Indiana and Cincinnati.
"Earlier this summer, NCAA enforcement staff completed an inquiry into a former Cincinnati student-athlete's prohibited betting activity during his time at the university. The inquiry is now closed and the student-athlete was found to have committed a Level III violation," Cincinnati senior **** ociate athletic director for communications Zach Stipe said in a statement. "Cincinnati worked closely with the NCAA throughout the process, which began when the initial reports of impermissible sports wagering began."
The Cincinnati Enquirer was the first to report on the university being cleared.
The NCAA sent an official letter of inquiry to the school regarding Sorsby in early July. That came after Sorsby's agent, Ron Slavin, said during a radio interview in Dallas that Cincinnati was aware of Sorsby's gambling.

The Cincinnati Enquirer once again is offering a new weekly feature recognizing the accomplishments of cheerleaders, dance team members and their squads: The Spirit Award.
Much like the popular athlete of the week voting, school fans and friends voted on two weekly ballots (individual and team) for The Spirit Award. Only coaches can provide nominations each week, either for their squads or other teams.
Eligible are varsity girls and boys cheerleaders and dancers who exemplify the fruits of the spirit ‒ love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control – while uplifting their squads, the student body and others. Team nominations focus on squads that come together to help each other, work hard, do things right that week, show outstanding virtues when dealing with or serving others, exceed expectations to prepare something special for the school or take part in any other honorable reason they might be acknowledged.
This week's Spirit Award winners are:
The senior cheerleader has been named one of the squad's dance leaders for this season. Over the past four years, Skylar has grown tremendously ‒ not only as a cheerleader, but also as a teammate and leader. This senior year, she has really stepped up, showing more confidence, taking on additional responsibilities, and being willing to try new skills.

CHICAGO -- Cincinnati Reds All-Star shortstop Elly De La Cruz is facing a possible second stint on the injured list this year after exiting in the seventh inning Sunday (Aug. 30) because of "left quad tightness."
The extent of the injury was not immediately clear. The Reds led 7-3 when De La Cruz left the game, with second baseman Matt McLain shifting to short.
De La Cruz spent close to four weeks on the injured list in June because of a right hamstring strain. It was the first IL move of his career.
De La Cruz, who didn't miss a game in 2025, played through left quad tightness much of the second half that season.

Zendaya's professional and personal success is fueling fresh tension between her and Sydney Sweeney, a source tells the National Enquirer.
The Odyssey continues to break box office records long after its July 17 release date and Zendaya's latest film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, has made over $2 billion in global ticket sales, per Variety. The actress, 29, also recently tied the knot with longtime love Tom Holland.
"It's got to be hard for Sydney because Zendaya has gone to a new stratosphere," reveals the source. "[She and Tom] have achieved total superstardom and everyone, including Sydney, can see that."
Sweeney, 28, struck gold with 2025's The Housemaid but Christy, her recent boxing biopic, bombed at the box office. The actress' American Eagle ad campaign also caused quite a bit of controversy and her new lingerie line, Syrn, is reportedly in crisis, according to In Touch.
"She's out there hustling and working hard and insisting that her lingerie brand will be a huge success in time," says the source. "But there's no doubt seeing Zendaya achieving so much is a bitter pill to swallow."

It's been nearly five years since his infamous Oscars slap, and Will Smith is still consumed with bitterness toward Chris Rock, a source tells the National Enquirer.
"Will has repeatedly apologized to Chris publicly and got absolutely nothing in return, which is very triggering for him," says the source. "He can't stand the fact that Chris is refusing to accept his apology and move on from this."
In the wake of SlapGate, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences handed Smith, 57, a 10-year ban, prohibiting him from attending the Oscars as well as other Academy events.
"It's incredibly hard for him to have zero control over a situation, that is something he absolutely hates," the source admits. "The fact that he's got another five and a half years to go before he can set foot in the [Academy Awards] is infuriating."

One thing that makes the NFL unique is that the best teams don't always play in the biggest markets. Consider that the Seahawks, the reigning Super Bowl champions, play in Seattle.
The Chiefs, winners of three Super Bowls since 2019, play in Kansas City. In addition, the team with the longest active streak of seasons reaching the Playoffs is the Bills, who play in Buffalo. Seattle (13th), Kansas City (33rd), and Buffalo (54th) are all outside the Top 10 in the 2025 Nielsen DMA (Designated Market Area) Rankings, according to the United States TV Database.
This is why the NFL is the greatest league in the world. You don't have to be in a big market to have the best fanbase. The Seahawks, the Chiefs, and the Bills all have great fanbases. As do the Bengals, with Cincinnati ranking 37th in the aforementioned rankings.
The Nielsen Scarborough NFL Fandom Index recently unveiled its top five teams, with the Bengals checking in at No. 4 on the list.
It's the first year of the study, which, as Cincinnati Enquirer Sports Editor Jason Hoffman notes, is a "comprehensive study that moves beyond simple headcount to identify where the sport's pulse beats strongest, revealing that America's most avid fans are often found in the heart of its mid-sized legacy markets."

Mason native Peyton Stearns and her doubles partner, Marta Kostyuk, knocked off Serena and Venus Williams in the Cincinnati Open WTA doubles draw.
After the match, the 24-year-old Stearns, who attended grade school at St. Margaret of York and took online classes in high school, suggested that she'd love her hometown crowd to show more support for her.
"It's awesome playing with Marta here in my hometown," Stearns said in the on-court, post-match interview. "Maybe next round we can get it a little louder for us, you know?"
"I kind of expected it going into the match, but it kind of stung a little bit that this is my hometown and it's just a couple of family and friends cheering for us out there in our box," Stearns added, per The Enquirer's Shelby Dermer. "I won't hold it against anyone as long as they come out next round and give us some love."
Stearns, the 2022 NCAA champion for the Texas Longhorns, finished her sophomore season with a 33-2 overall record in singles play.

Minnie Driver is thanking her lucky stars after getting into a terrifying car accident in Paris — and a source says ex-boyfriend Matt Damon is amongst the legions of friends and colleagues who've wasted no time getting in touch while offering to help in any way possible.
"Minnie is so well-respected by the acting community," a source tells the National Enquirer. "She's still in touch with almost everyone she's ever worked with and Matt is on that list."
The former couple and costars began dating while filming 1997's Good Will Hunting but by the time the movie came out, their "sweet love affair" had met a "combustible ending," the 56-year-old actress told Entertainment Tonight in 2022.
These days though, "they are very good friends," shares the source. "She's even become friendly with his wife [Luciana Barroso] so naturally, when Matt heard she'd been in this horrible car crash, he got in touch to check on her."
