Denny Hamlin did not win Sunday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. He did, however, leave Loudon with something no other NASCAR Cup Series driver can take from him.
The No. 1 seed in the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series Chase officially belongs to Hamlin.
Hamlin's seventh-place finish at New Hampshire was enough to secure the top spot before the regular-season finale at Daytona International Speedway. Whatever happens Friday night in the ****** e Zero Sugar 400, the Joe Gibbs Racing veteran will begin the Chase from the front.
And he will have some breathing room.
Hamlin will carry a 25-point advantage over the second seed when the 10-race Chase begins Sept. 6 at Darlington Raceway.

INGLEWOOD, Calif.––Thousands of football fans traveled through an asphalt skillet and sun-baking rays to sit in SoFi Stadium air thick with the smell of polyethylene pellets and concession food, littering empty seats and staring down at a field full of men fighting for their lives.
Peter Pan lost his shadow in Wendy Darling's nursery. Peter Pan never played football. Peter Pan never had to stare down the barrel of an NFL roster cut or feel the August sun bake his last hope into the turf.
Not the marquee names. The other ones.
The marquee names are set. The stars sleep in their beds while the backups, the special teamers and the practice-squad hopefuls run themselves into the ground for 60 minutes of tape that might buy them 60 more days in a uniform.
The ones who know the difference between making the 53-man roster and making a phone call home that changes everything.

Crystal Palace are making a serious push to sign Soungoutou Magassa from West Ham United, with negotiations now at an active stage. Journalist Fabrice Hawkins confirmed the report, revealing the Eagles have maintained contact with West Ham for a considerable period to get their heads around the structure of a potential deal, and they are now ready to push it across the line.
Magassa himself is keen. That is very significant. West Ham, following their relegation to the EFL Championship last season, are under mounting pressure to shift players on significant Premier League wages, and the 22-year-old defensive midfielder sits right at the top of that list. Several other clubs have also registered interest, which makes this a race against time for Palace to secure their man before a rival steps in.
Fabrice Hawkins, who broke the story, noted that negotiations are continuing with no deal yet confirmed.
Magassa joined West Ham from Monaco roughly a year ago for around €17 million. Across the 2025/26 season, he made 26 appearances in all competitions, including 22 Premier League outings, starting 11 of those, and clocked 989 minutes. He scored against Manchester United. For a young player settling into English football, those aren't numbers to sniff at.

Let's get to the Philadelphia Eagles news and links …
Eagles notebook: Their star of joint practices, a great nickname and more – NBCSP
Bowling ball of knives. Eagles second-year offensive lineman Willie Lampkin has become a fan favorite this summer. But the 5-foot-11 offensive lineman has also become a favorite in the locker room. Well, maybe not when his teammates have to face him. "Love Willie," Jordan Davis said. "I call him a bowling ball of knives. Because he's so short, he's so small, he's so stubby but he is so quick and powerful and precise with his hands that it's really, for a taller guy like me, it gives me a lot of trouble, it gives me a lot of fits. That's one of the things that keeps me up at night with Willie. "But he's a tremendous player. He has a certain tenacity about him when he goes and plays a game, especially at center, and he commands that line. It's really special to see and I'm excited to see where his game goes."
The Eagles need to win back the fourth quarter in 2026 – BGN
This is the time of year when everything new is being installed, and training camp darlings are created. There will be a ton of things to look at this Saturday night when the Eagles face the Baltimore Ravens, and Sean Mannion's offense, or what small portion of it is shown, will get scrutinized. But the real reality of the Eagles' 2026 season will not arrive until around 6:30 p.m. Sunday, September 13 at Lincoln Financial Field. It's about the time when the Eagles will be in the throes of their first fourth quarter of the season, in the season opener against the Washington Commanders. Winning the fourth quarter will be a big key to the Eagles' 2026 success. In 2025, the Eagles did not win the fourth quarter. Last season, the Eagles wilted offensively and defensively.
Five things to watch in the Eagles' second preseason game vs. the Patriots – PhillyVoice
4) Can Darius Cooper separate from Makai Lemon? Makai Lemon began practicing in a limited capacity on Thursday. He will be returning to practice full-time soon. The Eagles' WR1 (DeVonta Smith) and WR2 (Dontayvion Wicks) spots are spoken for, but the WR3 spot remains wide open. Cooper is challenging for that role, and I imagine he'll be given the opportunity to play against the Patriots on Saturday night. In the first preseason game against the Ravens, Cooper had 2 catches on 5 targets for 21 yards. Can he improve on that performance, and at least get the Eagles' staff to consider starting him Week 1? If not, Lemon will have a golden opportunity to swoop in at the tail end of camp and claim that spot.
Eagles-Pats Day 2 – Iggles Blitz
It is great that Hurts and the offense came through this time around. We know that there will be a learning curve for the offense this season. There will be ups and downs. Hurts isn't afraid of adversity so I think he'll be able to work his way through issues. The offense was up and down from an overall perspective. Hurts got picked off a couple of times. While I

Brown Brothers Harriman, an investment management company, released its Q2 2026 investor letter for the "BBH Select Mid Cap ETF". A copy of the letter can be downloaded here. In the quarter, the fund increased 9.7% on a total return basis compared to the Russell Midcap Index's 13.8% return. Artificial intelligence is a key factor influencing market performance, with high-valuation and high-beta companies consistently outperforming others. The portfolio saw gains from being overweight in technology and industrials but missed opportunities due to underweighting more cyclical stocks. At the end of Q2 2026, the Fund held positions in 27 companies, with 48% of ***** ets concentrated in the top 10 holdings. The Fund's strategy focuses on companies priced below intrinsic value to ensure a margin of safety, rather than on whether valuations are high or low. Additionally, reviewing the Fund's top five holdings could help identify its best picks for 2026.
In its Q2 2026 investor letter, BBH Select Mid Cap ETF highlighted Darling Ingredients Inc. (NYSE:DAR). Darling Ingredients Inc. (NYSE:DAR) is a leader in converting edible and inedible bio-nutrients to sustainable natural ingredients. On August 19, 2026, Darling Ingredients Inc. (NYSE:DAR) closed at $66.94 per share, reflecting a market capitalization of $10.56 billion. Darling Ingredients Inc. (NYSE:DAR) posted a one-month return of 5.58%, while its shares gained 110.37% over the past 52 weeks.
BBH Select Mid Cap ETF stated the following regarding Darling Ingredients Inc. (NYSE:DAR) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"The Fund's largest detractors to performance in the quarter were Guidewire Software Inc. (Guidewire) and Darling Ingredients Inc. (NYSE:DAR). Darling returned -11.7% during the quarter, ending with a weight of 4.0% after trimming the position early in the quarter on strength. Darling is the global leader in rendering animal byproducts and used cooking oil into fats and proteins for a variety of end uses, including animal feed, specialty health products, and renewable diesel through a joint venture with Valero called Diamond Green Diesel (DGD). Darling reported stronger than expected first quarter 2026 results, driven by better performance in the core Feed and Food segments, as well as stronger margins at DGD. Notwithstanding lower oil prices at quarter- end, Darling is extremely well-positioned for significantly improved profitability, with long-awaited certainty on government mandates finalized at the end of first quarter 2026, which will support both margins at DGD and higher Feed prices. These end markets are further benefiting from higher prices as a result of the recent conflict in the Middle East. The full benefit of recent development will start to be apparent in second quarter 2026."

BBH Select Mid Cap ETF stated the following regarding Guidewire Software, Inc. (NYSE:GWRE) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"The Fund's largest detractors to performance in the quarter were Guidewire Software, Inc. (NYSE:GWRE) and Dar ling Ingredients Inc. (Darling). Guidewire declined -17.7% during the quarter, ending with a weight of 3.1%. Guidewire is the leading provider of core systems software to the property and casualty (P&C) insurance industry. Guidewire reported strong fiscal third quarter results (its fiscal year ends in July), with revenue growth of 27% and profitability well ahead of guidance, and management raised full-year guidance for both. The shares nevertheless declined because annual recurring revenue (ARR) growth of 19% finished at the midpoint of guidance, the first quarter since 2022 that ARR did not meet or exceed the high end of its guidance, as a couple of deals slipped past quarter end. We believe the slippage reflects timing rather than demand. The pipeline remains healthy, and management noted the fiscal fourth quarter is off to a good start and could be a record quarter. Fully ramped ARR continues to grow faster than reported ARR, and management expects it to grow above the 22% achieved in fiscal year 25, which supports continued growth into future years. Gerald McCoy played eleven seasons at the highest level in the National Football League. A third overall selection of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2010, McCoy would go on to be a six-time Pro Bowl selection and a 2013 first-team All-Pro. He played the game with finesse and ferocity, but always with a smile and a fun personality.
During his career, McCoy was a media darling with both the local scribes and national networks. He made guest appearances during bye weeks and in the offseason, offering his expertise. It also was a chance for the country to get to know him away from the field. Now entering his fourth season working on NFL Network, McCoy says a second act in media was never a goal he chased like the quarterbacks he was used to sacking.
"I've been blessed with the gift of communication and natural non-fear of crowds and cameras," said McCoy. "Because of the guest appearances I would do during my career, later in my career these places were reaching out seeing if I would be doing media when I was done playing. I kept telling my agent to hold off on those calls till I thought about leaving the game."
McCoy is the son of two youth pastors, both of whom played in the church band. Because of this, his upbringing contained many instances of finding himself performing in front of crowds and singing solos in church. Those experiences helped McCoy become comfortable in a media setting and performing in front of viewers.
During his final year with the Las Vegas Raiders, McCoy found himself enrolled in the NFL media broadcast boot camp without his permission. The team's public relations staff enrolled McCoy, who had been battling injuries during his time with the franchise in 2021.

It feels like every year there are a few "training camp darlings," players who catch the eyes of coaches, media, and fans alike as they show glimpses of what could possibly be during the regular season.
Through the first few weeks of Jets camp, it's clear that receiver Isaiah Williams is one of those players.
Williams is no stranger to his teammates or to fans. In fact, he was named the Jets' team MVP in 2025 for his work as a returner. During his first season in New York, Williams had 396 punt return yards and two touchdowns, plus an additional 837 yards as a kick returner.
But the 25-year-old has been making his mark during this year's camp as a receiving option, making his share of standout plays.
"Training camp's been going great," Williams said on Monday. "It's been good to just every day go out there compete against our defense. Last week it was good to go out and compete against the Bucs, but it's been good. For me, my main focus right now is just enduring myself to my teammates, making my teammates better every single day, and along the process getting better."

According to Sky Sports, Celtic have agreed an initial fee of around £6million with Real Oviedo, with a further £3million potentially due in add-ons.
A significant portion of those bonuses will reportedly be triggered if Martin O'Neill's side secure their place in the Champions League league phase later this month.
Hassan is poised to sign a four-year contract at the Hoops, with Celtic holding an option to extend his stay by another season.

comedian and content creator Damon Darling sparked an uproar with fans online after reportedly getting banned from Walmart. Apparently, he was banned after buying people groceries.
According to him, it is the second time he's been asked to leave the store, causing fans to rally behind him. damondarlingtv broke the news of his recent run-in at Walmart on TikTok on August 7, 2026.
The video had drawn 2.6 million views as of publication. The video also made its way to X and other social media platforms.
His video featured an interaction between him and a Walmart employee about entrance to the store. When Darling sought to understand the reason, he explained that he was merely buying groceries.
When he argued that both the local police and the store manager permitted him to be there, the employee disputed the claims and said it wasn't true. Darling did not feature a clip of him and the cops, but did share a brief snippet of him and the alleged store manager.

King Charles and Queen Camilla have regularly appeared to be the perfect couple, and that even extends to the fact that the pair have sweet pet names for one another.
However, while many of us might be content with calling our significant other names like 'darling', 'sweetie' or a shortened version of their own name, the monarch and his love have more unique monikers.
Since the early days of their courtship, Charles has called Camilla 'Gladys', while Camilla has called her husband 'Fred'. The names are believed to have derived from The Goon Show, a radio show broadcast on the BBC that ran between 1951 and 1960.
Fred is a character who in the show manages to disappear right from underneath his mother's nose, while Gladys was known for her constantly changing voice and for responding to many questions by saying: "Yes, darling!"
Princess Diana previously said that Charles had previously purchased Camilla a bracelet with the initials of the characters entwined within it. Speaking to biographer Andrew Morton, she claimed: "I walked into this man's office one day and I said, 'Ooh, what's in that parcel?' And he said 'Oh, you shouldn't look at that.

Matthias Jaissle takes charge of Newcastle for the first time as they face Valencia in a pre-season friendly.
The former Red Bull Salzburg and Al-Ahli coach was appointed after Eddie Howe parted ways with the club midway through the summer, bringing an end to a popular if occasionally turbulent spell on Tyneside.
Now the German will have the first chance to test out his philosophy as the Magpies visit the Estadio de Mestalla, with Newcastle arriving off the back of a decidedly mixed run of pre-season games - a 3-0 win over Darlington followed a 1-1 draw with Gateshead and a 4-1 mauling by Championship club Bristol City.
They then face Everton, Bayer Leverkusen and Strasbourg before the start of the Premier League season, with Jaissle overseeing a very different squad to last term after the departures of major names Bruno Guimaraes, Anthony Gordon, Sandro Tonali, and Kieran Trippier.
Here's everything you need to know.

The Catalan club have pipped arch-rivals Real Madrid as Rodri's preferred destination, and the 30-year-old has already agreed personal terms with Barça.
Barça made an opening bid for the World Cup winner yesterday worth around €45 million in fixed fees, which City turned down very quickly.

CMG sits 30% below its 52-week high while management bought back $631 million in shares at an average $32.55, near current prices.
CMG trails the S&P 500, down 19% over the past year, yet 34 ******* ysts target $44 implying 27% upside as transaction growth turns positive.
Act now: the ******* yst who called NVIDIA in 2010 just named his top 10 AI stocks — and Chipotle Mexican Grill didn't make the cut. Grab the names FREE today.
After two years of whipsaw share price action, Chipotle Mexican Grill (NYSE:CMG) shows evidence that its transaction slump is reversing. Furthermore, the current entry point near $35.13 trades well below where management is aggressively repurchasing stock.
The fast-casual leader operates over 4,200 restaurants across North America and international partner markets, generating $12.4 billion in trailing revenue. The stock repriced from a growth darling to a value name after FY25 became a full year of negative comparable sales. Shares now trade roughly 30% below the 52-week high, and the question is whether the operational turn has staying power.

As expected, we won't be seeing the headliners for the Carolina Panthers hitting the field in the Hall of Fame Game. Head coach Dave Canales told reporters earlier this week that he will not send out his starters on Thursday night.
That, however, doesn't mean there won't be anyone worth watching.
Here are four defensive players to keep an eye on during the Panthers' 2026 preseason opener . . .
Hall, a Durham, N.C. native, became an early offseason darling for Panthers fans after a standout spring. And now, between the neck injury to starter Tershawn Wharton and the sudden retirement of LaBryan Ray, the undrafted rookie might have an initial 53-man roster well within reach.
Given Carolina's questionable depth along their defensive trench, Hall could provide some much-needed backup for Derrick Brown and Bobby Brown III. The 6-foot-4, 297-pounder, who recorded 56 pressures at Duke University in 2024 and 2025, should have a chance to show off his pass-rushing chops on Thursday night.

Cathie Wood, head of Ark Investment Management, likes to lock in gains when her tech darlings rally.
That's exactly what she's doing with Snowflake, trimming her position after the cloud software stock surged nearly 10% over the past five trading days ahead of earnings.
In 2025, the flagship Ark Innovation ETF gained 35.49%, far outpacing the S&P 500's return of 17.88% in the same period. But so far this year, Wood's flagship Ark Innovation ETF (ARKK) is down 8.51% as of July 31, while the S&P 500 surged 9.41%, Yahoo Finance data shows.
Wood gained a reputation after the Ark Innovation ETF delivered a 153% return in 2020. But her style also brings painful losses in bearish markets, as seen in 2022, when the Ark Innovation ETF tumbled more than 60%.
Those swings have weighed on Wood's long-term gains. As of July 31, her Ark Innovation ETF has delivered a five-year annualized return of -9.75%, while the S&P 500 has an annualized return of 11.25% over the same period, according to data from Morningstar.

NEW YORK — I sat across from Ron Darling in the media dining room not long after the ceremony at Citi Field honoring the 1986 Mets on Saturday. Just about the whole crew was there, although I needed to check the names on the jerseys to recognize a couple of them.
It's been 40 years. Everyone is older and softer now. No matter. The nostalgia brought me right back to a more innocent time in Flushing, even if Citi Field was barely half full.
That's what saddened me.
It wasn't so much seeing Ray Knight in a wheelchair pushed by Howard Johnson. Or that Bobby Ojeda appeared to be limping. Or that Davey Johnson, Gary Carter and Buddy Harrelson, all deceased, had to be represented by family members.
It's that a reunion like this should've been a sell-out.

According to SPORT, Real Madrid have intensified their pursuit of Yan Diomande after seeing an initial package worth €100 million (€90 million fixed plus €10 million in add-ons) turned down by RB Leipzig.

A group of students from the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Charlotte Region received a once-in-a-lifetime basketball experience Thursday as the Charlotte Hornets launched a new initiative aimed at inspiring young people across the Carolinas.
The event, held at Northridge Middle School, marked the kickoff of the Hornets' "Bee Ball for All" youth initiative, part of the team's broader Impacting the Carolinas community outreach efforts.
Students spent the day learning basketball fundamentals, teamwork and leadership while getting the chance to interact with Hornets staff and franchise legend Muggsy Bogues.

Replenish Nutrients CEO Neil Wiens joined Steve Darling from Proactive to discuss a strategic investment agreement with SRC Agrominerals that will provide $7.5 million in growth capital while supporting the expansion of the company's production facilities in Beiseker, Alberta.
Under the agreement, SRC Agrominerals will acquire an initial 19.9% equity stake in Replenish and provide an additional $7.5 million debenture investment, giving the company flexible capital to accelerate its growth plans.
The partnership also includes the appointment of SRC CEO Tim Close to Replenish's Board of Directors, while Dr. David Morris, founder and chairman of Morris Group Canada, will serve as a board advisor and be nominated for election as a director at the company's next annual meeting.
The investment proceeds will fund construction of a 150,000-metric-tonne pelletizing facility at the existing Beiseker site, along with expanded storage, processing, and load-out infrastructure to support both current granulation operations and future production. The expansion is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2028.
As part of the partnership, the companies have also signed a long-term supply agreement for carbonatite, a mineral-rich resource containing calcium, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, trace minerals, and beneficial microbial properties. Replenish will incorporate the material into its proprietary regenerative fertilizer products, securing a reliable supply of a key ingredient for future growth.

If you're thinking of investing in the Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF (NYSEMKT: VTI), keep thinking -- and researching it -- because it's a solid contender for a berth in your portfolio.
Here's a look at the fund and what it might be worth in the future.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
Most investors are at least somewhat familiar with the S&P 500 index, and the index funds that track it. Those funds will invest in 500 of America's biggest companies, including plenty of market darlings such as Nvidia and Micron Technology. They won't have you invested in gobs of small and medium-sized companies, though, and that can be a shame, since plenty of such companies have great growth prospects.
The Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF, though, is a broader index fund, and it encompasses just about all investable companies on U.S. stock exchanges -- nearly 3,500 of them, as of the end of May.

PepsiCo, Inc. (NASDAQ:PEP) was among Jim Cramer's stock calls on Mad Money, as he advised investors to stick with the largest tech companies in the market. Cramer commented on the company's earnings and management commentary, as he said:
This morning, PepsiCo reported a quarter that looked fine on the surface, but failed to wow when you got to the fine print. Meanwhile, the stock, once a market darling, has turned into an ugly duckling. On the conference call, management admitted that inflation and the price of gasoline caused domestic snack sales to fall. That led to a collapse in the stock… This quarter, I think some of the largest distributors had enough and demanded price rollbacks… It wouldn't shock me if Walmart forced PepsiCo's hand and demanded rollbacks…
I think it was the rollbacks in the traditional grocers plus the sticker shock of the convenience stores that made it so no matter what Pepsi did, it couldn't grow the business. Now, they've tried things to forestall this moment. I know they want to stick by their innovation playbook. I respect that. They're tremendous cost cutters too, but maybe they just have to take the darn hit and cut the price of their products big time, take a ton of market share, and then three quarters from now, they can have a much better return. I fear, as others do, that this is the beginning of a slow rollback in pricing. I say rip the band-aid off. Go back to prices from 10 years ago before the endless increases and get realistic.
You raise prices too much, too often for a country that's now weight-obsessed, health-obsessed, and GLP-1 obsessed, and you're just not going to make as much money for a bag as you'd like to. Now, PepsiCo gets about half of its sales from overseas, and that business is terrific. They need to make international much bigger to lessen the impact of Frito-Lay's domestic pain. Here's the bottom line: I fear now that only drastic pricing can reverse a domestic dive, something, by the way, the CEO Ramon Laguarta disagreed with when we interviewed him on Squawk on the Street. In truth, I thought Ramon wasn't really disagreeing with me. I think he was subtly disagreeing with the action in the stock, and that's actually not that great an idea when you're running a publicly traded company.

They won the 2018 World Cup and finished runner-up in 2022 after an incredible final. But France will be coming to Miami to play for the bronze medal in the 2026 World Cup after a shocking loss in the semifinals.
Les Bleus were shut out by Spain 2-0 on Tuesday, July 14 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. A penalty on teenage star Lamine Yamal led to a Mikel Oyarzabal goal in the 22nd minute, with Pedro Porro adding a second-half goal. It would have been 3-0 if Spain's star 19-year-old had not been ruled offside a few minutes later.
The loss means Spain will play Sunday, July 19 for its second World Cup ***** le at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Meanwhile Kylian Mbappe, Ousmane Dembele and the star-studded team from France will head to South Florida to play for third place. They could face off against Lionel Messi again if defending champion Argentina lose to Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham and England in the other semifinal.

In his junior campaign, Carter tallied 147 saves with nine shutouts, allowing just 19 goals through 20 games. His three saves in a shootout win over Loveland in the district semifinals were instrumental to the Wildcats claiming a district championship, and he earned a spot on the Enquirer's all-city first team.
As a sophomore, Darling secured 10.5 shutouts in goal for Mason. The Comets allowed just nine goals all season en route to a 14-1-3 record, and Darling's skills will only improve in his junior season.
