Several months after recounting the harrowing details of her abduction in a Netflix documentary, Elizabeth Smart has launched a podcast to give survivors of violent crimes a chance to tell their own stories.
In "The Survivor Files with Elizabeth Smart," which launched on Aug. 17, Smart provides a platform for survivors to open up about what they endured, the aftermath and the continual healing process, as The New York Times reported.
"I'm honored to have the opportunity to help share these stories and introduce you to the people behind them," Smart said in a Facebook post announcing the podcast.
The first episode features an interview with Kara Robinson Chamberlain, who escaped from a serial killer when she was 15 years old.
In a brief clip from the podcast shared on social media, Robinson recounts the moment she was being kidnapped and how she asked the kidnapper what he was doing.

Kara Robinson Chamberlain was just 15 years old when she was abducted by a serial killer. Now, she's searching for answers in cases that have gone unsolved for decades.
The victim advocate hosts the ABC News Studios and Freeform true-crime series "Somebody Knows Something," which takes a fresh look at unsolved disappearances and murders that have baffled investigators. Working alongside loved ones, Chamberlain revisits a cold case in each episode, hoping renewed attention will generate the lead that finally cracks it.

"My purpose was to let families have the mic and show what law enforcement has done," Chamberlain told Fox News Digital. "We want people to have the information they need, so they can come forward with anything that could be helpful. Several of these cases involve children, young people. I have three kids, so I found myself identifying with either the young person who is missing or the victims themselves as parents.

The final stretch of the WNBA's regular season has been highlighted by off-court discussions rather than on-court play. The role of transgender athletes in women's sports has become a highly debated topic throughout the league.
A politician recently spoke out on the issue after former NBA player Enes Kanter declared for the WNBA draft.
Cruz spoke out after Kanter Freedom recently expressed interest in joining the WNBA, comparing him to NBA icon Wilt Chamberlain.
Cruz said on X, "He's going to break Wilt's record of 100 points in a single game."
Kanter Freedom officially declared for next year's WNBA Draft after reviewing the league's framework for player eligibility.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain says the Celtic "pressure cooker" is the ideal environment for him to thrive.
The England international signed a short-term deal with the Parkhead club in February and helped them win a league and Scottish Cup double last season.
The 32-year-old signed a new deal earlier this summer and is hungry for more success, starting with Monday's Scottish Premiership opener against Dundee.
"When the opportunity to come here last year came up, the fact that it was going to be a challenge, I really enjoyed that," he said.
"The idea of just trying to do whatever I could to give some experience or, at times, a few moments of quality that could help the lads go on to achieve what we did. The way it ended up was like dreamland stuff.

The calendar has flipped to August. Which means we're in the annual drought in the NBA's year-round calendar. Don't expect much to happen over the next couple of months. Teams across the league are in vacation mode and just waiting for the 2026-27 season to start.
The Oklahoma City Thunder fell short of a second NBA championship, but remain in the meat of the ****** le conversation. Bringing back mostly the same crew, expect them to be one of the league's top teams for a fourth straight year.
To prepare for the 2026-27 regular season, Thunder Wire will lay out three goals for all 17 players on the roster. OKC has 14 standard players and three two-way players. Let's look at Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and what he could accomplish this upcoming year:
Gilgeous-Alexander has cemented himself as an all-time great with two consecutive MVP awards. One makes you special. A second puts you in even rarer company. Now, asking him to win a third is a little unfair. Only three players have won the prestigious award three straight times — Wilt Chamberlain, Bill Russell and Larry Bird. All in the 20th century, too. So expecting the 28-year-old to buck that trend is a Herculean task ****** ody in the modern NBA can do.
But staying in the hunt? That's completely possible. Look, Gilgeous-Alexander likely won't win another MVP. Not because his play has taken a step back, but because voters will likely recognize other all-time greats deserve their moment in the sun. If I had to guess, I bet Victor Wembanyama brings home the trophy. That said, as long as he stays in the conversation and is a finalist, he'll continue to add bullet points to his legendary resume.

Generally speaking, most people consider either Michael Jordan or LeBron James to be the GOAT of professional basketball. Jordan was an incredible presence from 1984 to 2003, minus his first two retirements. As for James, he started playing in the NBA in 2003 and, for better or worse, is still playing (he is not the player he used to be, and at some point, his diminishing skills will hurt his legacy).
As we said, most people would go with one of them for the greatest of all time, but not everyone. Take Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
Kareem has a somewhat forgotten choice: Oscar Robertson. Robertson was somewhat overshadowed in the 1960s by the Boston Celtics, and the Lakers, first with Jerry West and Elgin Baylor, and later with Wilt Chamberlain, but was he truly great?
Absolutely, he was, and this video makes a plausible argument for placing him ahead of Jordan and James.
Robertson, first and foremost, was decades ahead of his time. He was a 6-5 point guard who averaged a triple-double. He was immensely skilled, and strong enough to box out much bigger players.

If a recent transfer update from Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph is accurate, Celtic have offered Kelechi Iheanacho a new contract, with the Nigerian now training on his own after his Parkhead deal expired a couple of weeks ago. However, the in-demand centre-forward has yet to accept the offer, as he is ***** sing all the proposals before committing his future.
The 29-year-old Nigerian international completed a Bosman switch, reuniting with Brendan Rodgers back in September. But the Northern Irishman stepped down from his role in less than two months following a series of disappointing outcomes. Iheanacho, who was supposed to spearhead the attack, had a stop-start season due to persistent injury problems. Nevertheless, he shook it off late in the campaign and netted some decisive goals as a ‘super sub’ en route to conquering the ‘domestic double’.

Although the deadline for triggering the one-year extension of his previous contract had already expired, Martin O’Neill has confirmed that a concrete offer has been made for the hitman. The veteran Northern Irish boss reiterated his desire to keep hold of the ‘number 9’, and it is now up to Iheanacho whether he prefers a return or a fresh challenge elsewhere.
Despite a slow start to the window, Celtic have lately stepped up their transfer business. O’Neill has convinced Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to stay for at least one more season. Also, a fee of around £6m has been splashed to secure Camilo Duran’s services from Qarabağ. Meanwhile, Daizen Maeda is seeking an exit to pursue his Premier League dreams, and Duran, known for his high work ethic and flexibility up top, could emerge as a like-for-like replacement for the ***** anese striker.

That’s correct, the upcoming season is only three weeks away, and rather worryingly, we have still to improve the overall quality of our fragile squad.
It’s like Groundhog Day, in that we always proclaim to improve on our failures, learn our lessons and so on but here we are yet again, guilty of the same old incompetence on the recruitment front.
Camilo Duran, Celtic new summer signing. Image Celtic FC
Camilo Duran is our one and only signing to date, and of course there is the recent capture of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who was part of last season’s squad, so he’s not what you would class as a new signing.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain says he is relishing the prospect of a "proper season" at Celtic after agreeing to stay on with the Scottish champions.
The 32-year-old former **** nal and Liverpool midfielder initially joined Martin O'Neill's side on a short-term deal in February.
Having been out of action for nine months, Oxlade-Chamberlain played 550 minutes over 12 appearances, scoring twice.
"I'm just delighted that it's been able to get done and excited to come in at the start of this season to feel like I've got a proper season with the boys and a pre-season," he said in a club media interview.
Oxlade-Chamberlain enjoyed league and Scottish Cup celebrations in May, with Celtic overhauling long-time leaders Hearts on the final day to defend their Premiership **** le before beating Dunfermline Athletic at Hampden.

When Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain arrived in Glasgow in February of this year, he brought along heaps of experience of operating at the top level, and his reputation as a winner preceded him.
Just 12 minutes in to his debut substitute appearance in the Hoops, the Celtic faithful were treated to an emphatic example of the quality that the man, affectionately nicknamed The Ox, has at his disposal.
With the scoreline between Celtic and Livingston locked at 1-1 in stoppage time, the Englishman sent a curling effort in to the bottom corner of the net from outside the box to grab the win for Martin O'Neill's men and spark sensational celebrations in the stands at Celtic Park.
It is hard to know exactly how vital any given goal or victory is going to be over the course of a season, but given the drama that accompanied Celtic's Scottish Premiership triumph last season, and the fact that a fifth consecutive **** le was secured by a margin of just two points, it's safe to say that Oxlade-Chamberlain's winner on that cold February night at Paradise was a vital step towards the silverware.
It was announced on Saturday (July 4) that the former **** nal and Liverpool man had signed a new one-year-deal with the Champions of Scotland, and, yesterday (Wednesday, July 8), he joined up with the Celts at their pre-season base in Portugal.

Former England midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has signed a new one-year contract with Celtic.
The 32-year-old had joined the Glasgow club in February following six months out of football after Besiktas terminated his contract.
He made a goalscoring debut with a last-minute winner against Livingston and went on to make 12 Celtic appearances.
Seven of them were as a substitute, but Oxlade-Chamberlain played his part in their revival under then-interim manager Martin O'Neill.
Celtic retained the ***** le with a final-day victory over long-time leaders Heart of Midlothian and also lifted the Scottish Cup.

Celtic fans' patience is being tested to the limit as new signings remain conspicuous by their absence this summer.
The club released another new strip on Thursday morning - the 'stadium range' is their third kit release of the summer - and the comments from supporters on social media were predictably pointed in clamouring for fresh faces.
Interim chairman Brian Wilson's vow three weeks ago, shortly after Martin O'Neill's confirmation as permanent boss, that Celtic were primed to be "very active" with their recruitment has yet to come to pass.
There have been plenty of outgoings. All six of last season's loan recruits have left, so have out-of-contract players Kasper Schmeichel, Kelechi Iheanacho and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, while Luis Palma, Stephen Welsh and Hayato Inamura have found new clubs.
Vital players - the likes of Daizen Maeda, Arne Engels and possibly even captain Callum McGregor - could well go too.

New York Knicks legend Willis Reed is most famous for courageously taking the court in Game 7 of the 1970 Finals despite a very serious leg injury, and scoring the first two baskets.
However, there was much more to him than that.
At 6-10 and 240, by the standards of his day, he was a big, powerful center. And to be clear, he was a big, powerful center.
In 1970, the Finals went to seven games, but Reed battled Wilt Chamberlain on relatively even terms until his injury.
In this video, from Game 4, you can get a sense of his toughness.

Congratulations are in order for Little Mix alum Perrie Edwards, who has tied the knot with her long-time partner, footballer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, in Portugal after a four-year engagement.
According to the Daily Mail, the couple, both 32, who share two children together and got engaged in June 2022, said "I do" on Saturday afternoon in a small church ceremony in the quaint village of Estoi.
In pictures obtained by the publication, the bride stunned in an intricate white lace gown that trailed to the floor and featured a corset bodice and long sleeves. Perrie had her blonde tresses fashioned up in a slicked-back bun for her big day and carried a bunch of white calla lilies down the aisle. Meanwhile, Alex looked dapper in a black suit and bowtie with a matching lily boutonnière.
The couple had a limited number of close family and friends at the overseas ceremony, which reportedly totalled around 70 guests. Perrie's Little Mix bandmate Jade Thirwall was absent due to work commitments as she performing at the Primavera Sound festival in Porto.
It's not known whether her other Little Mix bandmate Leigh-Anne Pinnock was present.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) — The marquee outside of Madison Square Garden in December 1949 once promoted the following event, which was happening a couple of days later: “Geo Mikan vs Knicks.”
Not “Minneapolis Lakers vs. Knicks.” Just George Mikan. The NBA's first one-of-a-kind big man.
It feels like history repeating itself now. The NBA Finals start Wednesday, with the San Antonio Spurs facing the Knicks for the ****** le. And the marquee for this series — in San Antonio, in New York, in Paris and countless other points around the globe — may as well say “Wemby vs Knicks.”
Victor Wembanyama keeps stepping onto bigger and bigger stages. The latest version of the NBA's one-of-a-kind big man — a ****** le once held by the likes of Mikan, Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Shaquille O'Neal — will have all eyes on him in this series, and probably for every game he plays for the rest of his life. He's not “on the way” to superstardom. He's there. And this series is giving him his first chance at putting champion on his resume.
“This is the best basketball on the planet that’s being played right now,” Wembanyama said after San Antonio won Game 7 at Oklahoma City to capture the Western Conference ****** le. “And the crazy thing is ... I want to do that 15, 20 more times. Let’s hope it doesn’t become an addiction. Maybe it is already.”
