Wheel of Fortune announcer Jim Thornton's status with the show just went from suspended to fired amid a recent alleged pedophilia scandal.
Earlier this week, TMZ broke the news that Sony Pictures Television Studios had suspended the announcer, revealing to the media outlet, "We have recently been made aware of allegations concerning Jim Thornton. He has been suspended from Wheel of Fortune, and we are recasting while we conduct a thorough investigation."
Per TMZ, the alleged incident occurred when a passenger complained to a flight attendant about Thornton on a commercial flight in May. American Airlines confirmed to TMZ, "On May 14, American Airlines Flight 1276 was met by law enforcement upon arrival at Los Angeles International Airport following concerns reported by a customer onboard."

Following TMZ's initial report, Thornton's attorney, Allison Hart, denounced the information in the article, telling USA Today (via a letter), "My client did not engage in any illegal conduct, was not arrested, and has not been charged with a crime." The statement continued, "When questioned about the complaint made by a fellow passenger on the flight, law enforcement spoke to him for five minutes or less, immediately determined that no wrongdoing had occurred and told my client he was free to go."

TD's aim to open 100 U.S. branches by 2028 is "a today strategy," not simply a revival of branch expansion plans shared in 2023, U.S. executive Allison Robinson said Wednesday.
The Canadian bank said last week it intends to open 100 branches in the U.S. by the end of 2028, as it purses organic growth. The lender also plans to hire more retail and commercial bankers, U.S. CEO Leo Salom said during the bank's fiscal third-quarter earnings call Aug. 27.
In May 2023, Toronto-based TD shared plans to open 150 U.S. branches by 2027, with a focus on the Southeast – just a few weeks after its proposed $13.4 billion acquisition of Memphis, Tennessee-based First Horizon was terminated. At the time, TD circled south Florida, Atlanta and North Carolina as targeted areas for branch expansion.
But as the bank tackled anti-money laundering issues and was hit with a related $3.09 billion penalty and $434 billion ******* et cap on U.S. retail operations, those branch opening plans slowed "dramatically," then-CEO Bharat Masrani acknowledged in 2024. TD has also closed about 91 branches over the past two years, Salom said last week.

Allison, who leads Mercedes's power unit programme and has now been at the team for a decade, believes that the potential cost of losing a maximum of 25 points with a mechanical failure is more significant than updates over the remaining weekends.
"Everyone naturally focuses on upgrades because they're visible and they're exciting, but reliability may end up having a much bigger impact on the championship," Allison told Mercedes' Nu Silver Arrows Radio Show.

Portland, Oregon, mother Allison Roberts filed a lawsuit on Wednesday against Portland Public Schools and her children's elementary school after allegedly facing retaliation over her opposition to their gender curriculum.

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – The Pennsylvania Highlands Community College golf team released its fall 2026 season schedule, consisting of six matches beginning in September.
All season events will be against Region 20 opponents Butler County Community College, Community College of Allegheny County and Westmoreland County Community College.
The full schedule is Sept. 11 at North Park Golf Course (Allison Park), Sept. 14 at Glengarry Golf Links (Latrobe), Sept. 18 at Lake Arthur Golf Club (Butler), Sept. 21 at North Park Golf Course, Sept. 24 at Lake Arthur Golf Club and Sept. 28 at Glengarry Golf Links.
At the conclusion of the regular season, the teams will compete in the Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference Tournament Oct. 8-9 at Willowbrook Country Club in Apollo, where individual and team champions will be crowned.

Pumas struggled at home in a 0-0 tie against Queretaro. After an improving start to the Apertura 2026, their terrible Leagues Cup participation seemed to have influenced their Liga MX campaign as they had trouble in a match they were favored to win. Queretaro has been one of the surprising teams in Liga MX and they had a good plan to counter Pumas, which paid off. Pumas will stay at home before taking on Necaxa on Sunday while Queretaro will also host but will have a tougher match when they face off against Toluca.
The 1st half started with Pumas taking the surprising decision of starting with Uriel Antuna to take the place of Alvaro Angulo, a strange move especially with Cristian Calderon on the bench. From outside the area, Adalberto Carrasquilla was given time and **** e to get off a great left footed shot that forced a wonderful save from Queretaro's goalkeeper, Guillermo Allison. In the ensuing corner kick, the ball would eventually fall to Robert Morales but his right footed volley went well wide. A cross into the area was headed wide from close range by Juninho. A cross into the area was just missed by Daniel Parra but he would not get to it, had he gotten to it, he would have had a close range empty net chance. U.S. District Judge Allison Burroughs in Boston allowed the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to terminate the Temporary Protected Status designation for Somalia after the U.S. Supreme Court in June allowed the administration to end similar protections for thousands of people from Haiti and Syria.
The Supreme Court's ruling, powered by its 6-3 conservative majority, curtailed the ability of judges to review DHS efforts under Trump to end TPS designations for 13 countries that provided humanitarian immigration protection to eligible migrants from those nations.
Lawyers for the plaintiffs and DHS did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

What makes his recent form even more remarkable is that Libby has scored exactly 109 in each of his last three innings in the competition.
His impressive streak started with an unbeaten 109 against Middlesex, helping Worcestershire chase down 294. They have two daughters, both of whom are McKinley High School and The Ohio State University graduates: Averi (who also earned her master's degree from Carnegie Mellon University) and Anastasia.
He graduated from Baldwin-Wallace University and then followed his girlfriend (now his wife) to law school at Case Western Reserve University. Allison began his career as an Ohio ******* istant attorney general, then served as an executive at the Ohio Department of Education and eventually joined the Canton City School District before becoming superintendent in 2013. He joined the Hall of Fame in 2019.

Kylie Kelce and Jason Kelce never selected a complete name for a son, but one part of it would have been easy.
During an appearance on Sunday Sports Club With Allison Kuch, Kylie explained that her father and Jason's father are both named Edward.
The shared family name made it an obvious way to honor both grandfathers, but only from the middle position.
Kylie repeatedly emphasized that she had never considered Edward as a potential first name.

After 246 years, Pvt. John Pumphrey is unknown no more.
Through DNA testing and old-fashioned sleuthing, the Maryland teenager who died in one of the last big battles of the American Revolution can now take his place in history, just in time for the 250th birthday of the nation he fought to create.
"There was a sense of divine timing, I guess," said Allison Peacock, founder of FHD Forensics, a company that helped with the search. "I don't know what else you want to call it."
Pumphrey died Aug. 16, 1780, at the Battle of Camden, South Carolina. It was one of the Continental Army's most devastating defeats, where British Gen. Charles Lord Cornwallis routed patriot forces under Maj. Gen. Horatio Gates.
Many of the 900 killed were left where they fell, abandoned to the predations of wild animals, South Carolina's scorching heat and its ruinous humidity.
