Memory has become the latest pressure point in the AI hardware race. With demand for high-bandwidth memory (HBM) continuing to outstrip supply, soaring memory prices are beginning to ripple across the semiconductor industry, forcing companies to rethink product designs and pricing strategies. Even Nvidia Corporation (NVDA), the undisputed leader of the AI chip market, appears to be feeling the effects.
On Wednesday, Wedbush Securities highlighted how rising memory costs are increasingly influencing Nvidia's business, from changes to the configuration of its upcoming Vera Rubin platform to another reported round of price hikes for its consumer graphics cards. The brokerage believes the company is navigating not only higher costs but also persistent supply constraints in a market where memory has become just as critical as the GPUs themselves.

Blackstone picked quite a week to sell Italian subs to the market, but maybe that's exactly the moment to take a breath, look around, and put some faith (and some capital) in the enduring magic of provolone and Danny DeVito.
Jersey Mike's priced its IPO at $23 a share Tuesday night, the same 24 hours the Nasdaq officially slid into correction and 3 Fed officials staged a mutiny against their own chair. Demand did not care. The deal went ten times oversubscribed, raised roughly $1 billion, and became the largest US consumer listing of the year, landing dead center of its $21-to-25 range.
That said, chatter around this deal earlier floated a valuation closer to $12 billion. It priced nearer $7.3 billion instead, a hair above the $8 billion Blackstone paid for majority control back in 2024. If you're tasting a little red wine vinegar in those numbers, you're on to something. Ten times oversubscribed, and the sandwich shop still landed below what its own private buyer thought it was worth 2 years ago. That's gotta make Steve Schwarzman feel a little stugatz about the whole deal.
JMKE shares are open to the public Thursday, but roughly 86% of the company's voting power stays exactly where it's lived since 2024: tucked inside the world's largest private equity shop.

Many class-action lawsuits involve data breaches, product liability, or fraud. But a recently settled case is based on a claim of a credit reporting mistake.
In a recent settlement involving Equifax, the legal claim concerns an alleged error in the reporting of unpaid debt. The consumer credit reporting company was accused of noting a collection account more than once on some individual credit reports. Equifax has denied any wrongdoing but agreed to a $2.2 million settlement.
The number of impacted consumers was estimated at 37,000, according to the official settlement notice.
Here is what the Equifax class-action lawsuit settlement is all about and who is eligible to receive a share of the multimillion-dollar cash payout.

MOSCOW, July 31 (Reuters) - Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian online retailer Wildberries amount to "acts of terrorism" against civilians, ‌affecting millions of people in Russia and other countries, ‌the company's founder and CEO, Tatyana Kim, said on Friday.

"A comprehensive scheme is currently being developed to ensure that everyone receives **** istance. The details of these measures will be announced in the coming days," Kim said.
She ‌said the company was rapidly restructuring its logistics network and redistributing goods across various logistics facilities to maintain delivery times and inventory turnover despite the disruption.

US economic growth slowed in the second quarter, underperforming economists' expectations and adding another wrinkle to the Federal Reserve's path forward, even as consumer spending remained strong.
GDP rose at an annual rate of 1.5%, the Commerce Department said Thursday, below economists' estimates of 2% annual growth. The second quarter figures also showed a marked slowdown from the first quarter, when GDP grew 2.1% year over year.
The GDP price index — which measures prices across the entire basket of US goods and services — rose 6.2% year over year, far overshooting estimates of 4% growth and the previous quarter's 3.6% increase.
On a "core" basis, which excludes volatile food and energy costs, the GDP price index rose by a more restrained 3.4% year over year, against estimates of 3.5% and the previous month's markedly hotter 4.4% increase.
The data presents a complicated picture for the Federal Reserve, which on Wednesday voted to hold rates steady. If prices keep inching up while growth slows, worries may spread about the potential for "stagflation," which is when growth stagnates but prices go up anyway. The question for the Fed is how long energy price pressure driven by the war in Iran will continue to keep inflation elevated and hamper the economy.

The North American automotive industry is facing a dramatic change in the operational environment this year, which is marked by increased financing barriers and ongoing consumer price sensitivity. Since average auto loan interest rates are still more than 8%, consumers are delaying expensive discretionary upgrades, extending payment terms, and challenging aggressive price hikes. Legacy OEMs have been forced to give up unrestricted EV capital expenditure targets because of the sharp slowdown amid an overall shift to electric vehicles. That said, not every auto manufacturer is performing on the same level, with General Motors Co (NYSE:GM) and Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) serving as a case study on these dynamics.
General Motors Co (NYSE:GM) produced an exceptional second-quarter performance that showed impressive operational discipline in the face of this demanding macroenvironment. Strong pricing power and unit volume across its high-margin full-sized pickup and SUV categories, such as the GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Tahoe, drove GM's $48 billion quarterly revenue. Due to this legacy strength, North American operating margins reached 8.6%, which boosted adjusted earnings per share to $3.57 and resulted in a 41% year-over-year increase, significantly above Wall Street estimates.
Importantly, General Motors Co (NYSE:GM) showed that its multibillion-dollar effort to streamline its EV division and properly size battery joint ventures is producing immediate financial results, allowing executive leadership to raise full-year adjusted operating income (EBIT) guidance to between $14 billion and $16 billion.
Meanwhile, Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) had a much more divided operating narrative. Despite exceeding consensus estimates with adjusted earnings per share of $0.42 and matching GM on top-line revenue at $48 billion, underlying segment performance revealed ongoing structural friction. Due to enterprise fleet demand and high-margin software subscriptions, Ford Pro, the company's commercial branch, continued to be a high-margin cash engine. However, the company's electric vehicle division, Model e, recorded a sharp $1.26 billion quarterly operational loss, severely undermining these gains.
Based on a comparative valuation ******* ysis, here is a clear disparity between market price and operational execution. General Motors Co (NYSE:GM) carries an EV/EBITDA multiple of 12.01x and a discounted forward price-to-earnings ratio of 5.96x. In comparison, while experiencing significant margin pressure from its Model E division and ******* embly delays, Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) trades at a higher forward P/E of 7.88x and an increased EV/EBITDA multiple of 19.76x.

The dollar index (DXY00) is down by -0.02% today. The dollar recovered from overnight losses and is little changed after crude oil prices surged more than +6% when President Trump said the US will "hit Iran hard" after a recent attack from Iran that targeted a US base in Jordan. The jump in crude prices raises inflation expectations and could prompt the Fed to tighten monetary policy, a supportive factor for the dollar. Movement in the dollar is limited ahead of the conclusion of the 2-day FOMC meeting later today when policymakers are expected to keep interest rates unchanged.
Crude oil prices jumped today after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it targeted a US airbase and command center in Jordan with ballistic missiles. The IRGC also claimed to have hit and halted three tankers attempting to transit through the Strait of Hormuz. Meanwhile, the US and Saudi Arabia launched a joint attack on "Iran-aligned terrorists" in Iraq after the IRGC directed them to target US forces and Saudi energy infrastructure.

The bulls could cling to something worthy while they watch semiconductor stocks such as Sandisk (SNDK) and Micron (MU) get blown to pieces.
About 72% of S&P 500 stocks are now trading above their 200-day moving average, the strongest market breadth since December 2024, according to data from Barchart (see below). The benchmark index is also holding near record highs.
"You've got essentially two-thirds of S&P 500 companies that are trading above their 200-day moving average. That's relatively healthy and still consistent with the market that is more rotational in nature and not necessarily one that is correctional," Charles Schwab strategist Kevin Gordon said on Yahoo Finance's Opening Bid.
Investors have cashed in their AI bets and have rotated into software, financials, industrials, healthcare, and consumer discretionary stocks for their perceived values. A strong earnings season from many companies, like Coca-Cola (KO) on Tuesday, has helped offset the negative tones stemming from reports out of Alphabet (GOOGL) and Tesla (TSLA).
The market has also been supported by resilient economic data, continued expectations for Federal Reserve rate cuts over the next year, and robust corporate profit growth, all of which have kept money flowing into stocks.

Digital advertising spending in 2026 is expected to expand unevenly. According to the IAB's 2026 Outlook Study, overall US ad spend is projected to grow by 9.5% this year, with social media advertising growing 14.6%, well outperforming the broader industry. However, growth is not evenly spread across advertiser sizes, with larger consumer firms lowering marketing expenditure as one of the fastest ways to maintain profitability amid wary consumers and narrowing margins.
That's the backdrop in which Reddit, Inc. (NYSE:RDDT) is placing a significant bet: while the biggest social platforms compete for the same narrowing pool of massive brand advertisers, Reddit is slowly opening the door to small and medium-sized businesses that couldn't previously manage the cost of creating a personalized ad campaign.
That shift became clear when Reddit, Inc. (NYSE:RDDT) released a beta version of Reddit Community Intelligence on July 10, an AI-powered, free-form ad generator that provides advertisers with AI-generated creative recommendations customized to certain communities instead of forcing them to start from scratch. The tool is deliberately designed to make campaign creation easier for advertisers targeting community-specific audiences, which have traditionally found platform advertising too resource-intensive to bother with.
Wall Street research desks realized the structural significance of the self-service shift. On July 13, Citizens ***** yst Andrew Boone confirmed his Market Outperform rating and $240 price target for Reddit, Inc. (NYSE:RDDT), citing automated self-service technologies as a key revenue driver. Boone emphasized that lowering friction for smaller advertisers enables Reddit to capture previously untapped performance budgets, resulting in long-term, lower-funnel revenue streams.
Crucially, Reddit's advertising momentum was accelerating even before the Community Intelligence tool shipped. On July 10, Jefferies, drawing on conversations with agencies, added that Reddit, Inc. (NYSE:RDDT) continued to gain share in social media advertising through the second quarter. Agencies said that this was due to the platform's large and growing audience, growing reach, and more personalized targeting, a read that preceded the Community Intelligence launch and shows the platform was already winning before the tool even shipped.

Platinum ****** et Management, an investment management company, released its Q2 2026 investor letter for "Platinum International Brands Fund". A copy of the letter can be downloaded here. The fund returned over 4% in the quarter but lost 14% over the past year, primarily due to the dominance of tech stocks amid an AI investment boom. Consumer-focused sectors underperformed due to weak sentiment and challenges such as high interest rates and rising oil prices, which have contributed to record-low consumer confidence. However, the fund's holdings remain fundamentally strong, with top holdings averaging 13% sales growth and 19% profit growth. The letter noted that positive developments include resumed job growth, reduced oil prices, and easing fiscal policy, which potentially enhance consumer sentiment. In addition, please check the Fund's top five holdings to know its best picks in 2026.
In its Q2 2026 investor letter, Platinum International Brands Fund highlighted Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE:CAT) as a notable contributor. Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE:CAT) is a leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, off-highway diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines, and diesel-electric locomotives. On July 28, 2026, Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE:CAT) closed at $840.85 per share, reflecting a market capitalization of $387.29 billion. Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE:CAT) posted a one-month return of -15.19%, and its shares gained 93.69% over the past 52 weeks.
Platinum International Brands Fund stated the following regarding Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE:CAT) in its Q2 2026 investor update:
"Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE:CAT) (+36%) was another strong performer, shrugging off a 14% fall in profit. Steel is a key input and tariffs hurt; management is working on remedies, but they will take time. Beneath the surface, demand is heating up. Cat's engines and turbines power locomotives, ships, oil rigs, gas pipelines and now datacentres, a source of demand as ferocious as it is price-insensitive. Add a mining and energy complex emerging from a decade of underinvestment and a depressed construction sector turning the corner and the prospects look bright."
Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE:CAT) is not on our list of 40 Most Popular Stocks Among Hedge Funds Heading Into 2026. According to our database, 87 hedge fund portfolios held Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE:CAT) at the end of the first quarter, up from 86 in the previous quarter. While we acknowledge the potential of Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE:CAT) as an investment, we believe certain AI stocks offer greater upside potential and carry less downside risk. If you're looking for an extremely undervalued AI stock that also stands to benefit significantly from Trump-era tariffs and the onshoring trend, see our free report on the best short-term AI stock.

In its Q2 2026 investor letter, Platinum International Brands Fund highlighted Zoetis Inc. (NYSE:ZTS). Zoetis Inc. (NYSE:ZTS), an animal health company focused on animal health medications, vaccines, and diagnostic products, detracted from the Fund's performance during the quarter. On July 28, 2026, Zoetis Inc. (NYSE:ZTS) closed at $77.51 per share. One-month return of Zoetis Inc. (NYSE:ZTS) was 6.98%, and its shares lost 47.91% over the past 52 weeks. Zoetis Inc. (NYSE:ZTS) has a market capitalization of about $32.49 billion.
Platinum International Brands Fund stated the following regarding Zoetis Inc. (NYSE:ZTS) in its Q2 2026 investor update:
"Our worst performer was Zoetis (-35%). Simply, we got this wrong. Zoetis Inc. (NYSE:ZTS) makes medicines for pets and livestock and has long been the great innovator of its field, having pioneered and dominated the huge markets for canine dermatology and three-in-one parasiticides.
Unfortunately, its rivals have caught up and its commercial response has disappointed. In fairness, it likely expected its promising new arthritis treatment to comfortably offset any erosion. However, a social media scare campaign derailed its US launch largely because their commercial response was again inadequate.

Platinum International Brands Fund stated the following regarding Birkenstock Holding plc (NYSE:BIRK) in its Q2 2026 investor update:
"Birkenstock Holding plc (NYSE:BIRK) (+23%) was among our strongest contributors over the past quarter. The German sandal-maker, with two and a half centuries of heritage, keeps finding fresh ways to grow as a capable management team burnishes the brand, opens new product lines and expands overseas. It earns a 24% operating margin and a 40% return on capital and grew profits 25% on a year ago. Any private owner would be content with these numbers. The CEO, who bought millions of euros in stock this year, and the board, which recently launched a substantial buyback, plainly agree."

LONDON, July 29 (Reuters) - Apple said on Wednesday that proposed UK rules governing its App Store would amount to price regulation, arguing that plans to loosen ‌its control over in-app payments could undermine innovation and investment.
In a submission to Britain's ‌Competition and Markets Authority, the iPhone maker said proposed "steering" requirements would go beyond promoting competition and give the regulator a "highly intrusive" role in managing its business.
The CMA's consultation, which closed on Monday, is part of its efforts to boost competition and consumer choice. Its proposed measures would allow app developers to direct users to payment options outside Apple's App Store and Google's Play Store and require any fees charged for such ‌steering to be fair and reasonable.
A CMA spokesperson rejected Apple's characterisation of the proposals as price regulation.

Another domino has fallen for Victory+: On Thursday, the NWSL became the latest to cut ties with the streaming platform. In a statement, the NWSL announced that it had "terminated" its agreement with Victory+ "effective immediately."
The move comes as Victory+ has experienced reported financial difficulties, leading multiple teams to pull out of their deals. The NWSL severed the partnership after less than a year following a missed rights payment, per multiple reports.
Per the statement, games on Victory+ will instead be shown on the league's free direct-to-consumer platform NWSL+ starting this weekend. Sunday's match between the Utah Royals and the Portland Thorns will be the first to reflect this change.
In addition to the NWSL, five individual clubs (Bay FC, Washington Spirit, Orlando Pride, Gotham FC and Angel City FC) have regional deals with Victory+; the Pride and Bay both announced on Thursday that those agreements have been terminated, with Awful Announcing reporting that Gotham will make a similar announcement on Friday.
The NWSL becomes the latest to pull out of Victory+ amid the platform's ongoing financial troubles. On July 15, the Texas Rangers announced that the franchise would be switching from Victory+ to BZZR for all local broadcasts.
