PHOENIX (AP) — Ezequiel Duran had a two-run single and Wyatt Langford hit a solo homer during a six-run fifth inning to lead the Texas Rangers over the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-2 on Saturday night to even the three-game series.
The Rangers improved to 73-76 and are just two games back of the final American League wild card despite a sub-.500 record.
Arizona fell to 79-70 and is 1 1/2 games behind the San Diego Padres for the final National League wild card.
The Rangers took advantage of a close replay call that went in their favor during the decisive fifth.
The D-backs thought they were out of the jam with the score tied at 1-all after turning an inning-ending double play, but first base umpire Bill Miller ruled Corey Seager safe at first, signaling that pitcher Brandon Pfaadt's foot was off the bag. Arizona challenged the call, but the video review proved inconclusive and Miller's call was upheld.

With the first game of the Cleveland Browns season just a couple of days away, they made it official on Friday that rookie offensive lineman Austin Barber would be the team's starter at right guard on Sunday when they open the season against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Veteran offensive lineman Teven Jenkins was slated to be the team's starting right guard this season, but an injury will hold him out of at least this week's game. Barber didn't play guard at Florida, so it's a new position for him after logging 2,087 snaps at left tackle and 490 snaps at right tackle during his time with the Gators.
Barber was a surprising pick at 86 overall for the Browns, but now they are asking him to start right away, and his experience will be something he needs to lean on, even at a new position on the offensive line. He brings a nasty temperament to the run game, looking to finish guys by blocking them into the dirt; maybe the Browns lucked their way into another Wyatt Teller-style player at the right guard position.

The Minnesota Vikings continue to be relatively healthy as Week 1 approaches. Jakobe Thomas, the team's third-round pick at safety, was the only player who didn't participate in Wednesday's practice due to an illness.
However, it appears Thomas has gotten past that. He was limited in Thursday's practice, as were fellow rookies Caleb Tiernan (ankle) and Jacob Thomas (ankle), the undrafted free-agent safety out of James Madison.
Green Bay's injury list was lengthier, with DL Warren Brinson and LB Ty'Ron Hopper listed as DNPs for the second straight day. It wasn't an easy day for the Oregon Ducks on Saturday, as they battled back from a 17-7 deficit to the Boise State Broncos to take the lead, only for the Broncos to respond and twice tie the game in the second half. But in the end, the Ducks mustered up a 34-27 victory, preserving a 1-0 record heading into next week.
Oregon's Week 2 opponent, the Oklahoma State Cowboys, didn't have an easy go of it either in Week 1 — but the difference is that while they fell behind early, they never found a way to come back, losing 24-10 to the Tulsa Golden Hurricane on the road. Not only are the Golden Hurricane a Group of Six team in the American Athletic Conference (AAC), but they reside in Oklahoma and are considered the "little brother" to the Cowboys and Oklahoma Sooners.
Little brother no more, as Tulsa has now beaten Oklahoma State in back-to-back seasons for the first time since the 1950's.
It was a stunning result, as Oklahoma State was favored by two touchdowns coming in and had received top-25 buzz after hiring North Texas head coach Eric Morris, who brought along quarterback Drew Mestemaker (the nation's leading passer in 2025), running back Caleb Hawkins and wide receiver Wyatt Young from the Mean Green — plus 63 other transfers, overhauling a roster that won just a single game last season.
With the trio of Mestemaker, Hawkins and Young that powered college football's top scoring offense at North Texas in 2025, their Week 2 matchup against Oregon in Stillwater was cooking up to be a highly-anticipated game between two explosive offenses. But the Cowboys were anything but explosive against the Golden Hurricane, producing just 10 points and four turnovers, with Mestemaker accounting for three (two interceptions, one lost fumble) himself.

TULSA — Oklahoma State hired football coach Eric Morris 284 days ago. This is the most-anticipated day of the Morris era yet.
The Cowboys begin their 2026 season at Tulsa's H. A. Chapman Stadium (2:45 p.m. ESPNU). Morris, along with his North Texas transfers quarterback Drew Mestemaker, running back Caleb Hawkins and receiver Wyatt Young are part of the group injecting new energy into a program that won one game last season. BLOOMINGTON — Eight athletes, including IU football players Kellan Wyatt and Stephen Daley, were granted a temporary restraining order in an Indiana circuit court Friday, restoring for the moment their eligibility to play college sports.
Filed and granted in Monroe County Circuit Court, the TRO ****** erts that the plaintiffs "have shown by verified pleading and supporting evidence that immediate and irreparable injury will occur before notice can be served and a hearing held."
"The Court further finds that the plaintiffs have demonstrated a probable right to relief," the order states, "and that the threatened injury outweighs any temporary burden imposed by this Order pending an expedited hearing."
Importantly, the order is not lasting. That hearing will be held at 9 a.m., Friday, Sept. 11, in Monroe Circuit Court, where the court will hear the plaintiffs' motion for a temporary injunction, a firmer legal decision.

In a new episode of her "Not Gonna Lie" podcast, the mom of four opened up about watching her second daughter, Elliotte, start kindergarten. This comes just months after her oldest, Wyatt, made the same jump.
Kylie Kelce gets real about her daughter starting kindergarten and her fear of kids growing up. Kylie joked that part of the reason she and husband Jason Kelce had four kids was to improve the odds. At least one of them, she hopes, will never actually leave home.

STILLWATER — An eyebrow-raising line sits at the top of the Y receiver position on Oklahoma State's depth chart.
"Miles Coleman or Wyatt Young."
Both junior receivers transferred from North Texas this offseason along with quarterback Drew Mestemaker. Last season, Young led UNT with 70 catches for 1,264 yards and 10 touchdowns. Coleman finished third on the team with 47 catches for 550 yards and two touchdowns. Young is the only Cowboy on The Biletnikoff Award preseason watch list. All that led some to ***** ume Young would be OSU's top receiver on the depth chart.

The Loggers traveled to Monmouth, Oregon to take part in a star-studded meet at Western Oregon on Friday, Aug. 28. Taking on mostly teams from 4A-6A, the Loggers made an impression. The defending 2A State Champions finished third out of 30 teams in attendance, only finishing behind 6A McMinnville and 5A Corvallis. Knappa scored a total of 108, second place Corvallis scored 103 and in first place, McMinnville had 95.
Returning all but three runners from last year's squad, the Loggers are set up for another three-way ***** le fight with Union and Bandon. Knappa junior Rowdy Justus will also be amongst the runners competing for an individual state ***** le.

The Texas Rangers scored eight runs while the Californian Athletics scored five runs.
The Rangers seem to have finally found themselves a punching bag and the veterans were lining up to throw some haymakers.
September started in a similar fashion to how August ended with Texas beating up on the hapless Athletics. The catalyst tonight was the guys you hope can do damage as hitters No. 2-4, Corey Seager, Wyatt Langford, and Brandon Nimmo, combined for eight of Texas' twelve hits, five of their eight runs, and six of the eight RBIs.
Not be left out, No. 5 hitter Ezequiel Duran worked a couple of walks and drove in one of the other runs while also making a sensational play at second base to keep the would-be tying run off the board in the early goings.
The Rangers scored first in the game's opening frame when Nimmo drove in Seager with a two-out double. Meanwhile, Texas starter MacKenzie Gore was able to keep the Gore Inning to a minimum as the A's tied the game at a run apiece in the top of the third before Gore escaped a bases loaded jam to end the threat.

The Green Bay Packers' initial 53-man roster entering the 2026 season has been finalized, and it contains an oddity in that Green Bay opted to keep seven defensive tackles.
That is more than they have rostered in Brian Gutekunst's tenure as general manager and the most since 2013. It is a different world from where the Packers were a year ago, as the defensive tackle position looked thin entering the season and was decimated by the end of it.
The fact they have decided to keep so many this time around is perhaps a consequence of wanting to avoid such a situation again, but it is more so a testament to the work done to fortify the room this offseason, as well as some impressive growth by various preexisting players.
Javon Hargrave via free agency and Chris McClellan were the headline additions and along with Devonte Wyatt and Karl Brooks, made the position look stronger.
Beyond those four, no one else was certain of a roster spot entering training camp. In the end, so many other players impressed that the Packers had no choice but to keep seven.

The Boston Red Sox bullpen took another hit Tuesday, and the timing could hardly be worse.
Boston placed right-handed reliever Tyron Guerrero on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation. The club recalled right-hander Wyatt Olds from Triple-A Worcester to fill Guerrero's spot on the active roster.
The Red Sox announced the moves before Tuesday night's game against the Seattle Mariners at Fenway Park.
Guerrero has been one of Boston's most dependable relievers this season. The 35-year-old owns a 3.26 ERA and 1.14 WHIP with 36 strikeouts over 38 2/3 innings. He has appeared in 38 games, posting a 1-2 record.

On August 13, KinderCare Learning Companies (NASDAQ:KLC) reported second-quarter results that captured the company in the middle of major surgery on itself. Revenue slipped 0.4% to $697.5 million, and the company swung to a net loss of $8.8 million from net income of $38.6 million a year earlier. Behind those numbers sits a deliberate choice: management is closing dozens of underperforming centers even as the core business absorbs the hit.
The clearest bright spot is Champions, KinderCare's before- and after-school program, where revenue climbed 13.4% to $59.4 million on 85 net new sites added over the past year, marking four straight quarters of double-digit growth for the segment. KinderCare for Employers added new corporate partners during the quarter, including a stretch providing 24-hour childcare for Dallas public safety workers during the World Cup, and management is leaning further into tuition benefit programs as employers look for ways to support working parents.
The center closures are framed as addition by subtraction. Ninety percent of the locations shut so far sit in the lowest-performing fifth of the portfolio, and the 49 centers closed this quarter averaged occupancy below 37%. Management expects the full round of 80 to 85 closures to lift occupancy by roughly 1.5 percentage points once complete, while trimming annual rent by about $7 million.
Meanwhile, Creme School, KinderCare's premium brand, opened its first California location in Irvine and posted 26% growth in summer camp enrollment, and CEO Tom Wyatt said revenue from the Learning Adventures enrichment programs "has almost doubled from a year ago." The company also entered its 42nd state with a new center in Bentonville, Arkansas, helped along by fresh childcare funding commitments in New York, California and New Hampshire.
The headline numbers tell a rougher story. Adjusted EBITDA fell to $63.0 million from $82.4 million, and adjusted earnings per share dropped to $0.08 from $0.22, as lower occupancy ate into operating leverage. Same-center occupancy fell 2.4 percentage points to 68.6%, and enrollment in the core early childhood education business declined 4.0% year over year, a drag that a 2.6% tuition rate increase only partly offset. Same-center revenue fell $14 million, or 2%, with $11 million of that tied directly to center closures.

That's how Dan Secatore began the game recap here at Over The Monster after Saturday's heart-pounding win at Fenway. But you know what? That's becoming an increasingly appropriate way to start off every game recap around here.
Make no mistake, the Red Sox should have lost this game. They should have lost it when they gave the Marlins 14 at bats with runners in scoring position. They should have lost it when Payton Tolle ran out of gas at the end of his outing and allowed five of the last eight men he faced to reach base (including a Heriberto Hernandez home run). And they especially should have lost it in the bottom of the tenth when Aroldis Chapman wasn't available to close out a one run game and both Andruw Monasterio and Connor Wong made critical mistakes that forced the bottom of the bullpen to get five outs.
Wong's mistake specifically should have ended the game. Wyatt Olds pitched his ***** off and nearly got the equivalent of a four out save (I'm counting Monasterio's throwing error to lead off the inning as one of them), but because Wong couldn't move his ***** , the ball went to the backstop and the Red Sox needed another inning to win the game.

The Texas Rangers scored seven runs but the Chicago White Sox scored eleven runs.
In the top of the first inning, Wyatt Langford popped a ball straight up for what should have been an easy third out but due to poor communication from the White Sox infield, the ball dropped and the Rangers had their first base runner.
You could argue that Langford had time to end up on second base had he been sprinting but he settled for a single on the mistake. One batter later, Brandon Nimmo roped a ball down the line for a double. You would ****** ume that, with two outs, Langford would be chugging around the bases to attempt to score.
However, Langford seemed to think the ball was either fielded by the Chicago first baseman or deflected closer to the infield or something because he just stopped at second base with third base coach Corey Ragsdale screaming at him to get moving.
By the time Langford realized the ball had reached the outfield, the best he could do was stop at third base, ruining a shot at two-out RBI and an early lead. The Rangers had another crack at that with Ezequiel Duran up with two men in scoring position but he elected to bunt with two outs for some inexplicable reason.

Green Bay Packers defensive tackle Chris McClellan may not play a ton of defensive snaps as a rookie, but he showed what he's capable of against the Denver Broncos on Friday. The third-round pick's impressive six total tackle performance in the second preseason game caught the attention of his head coach.
"I thought he flashed. I thought he did a lot of great things, just playing with the playstyle we're looking for," coach Matt LaFleur said Monday. "He showed some good burst getting after the quarterback. There was a play where he got out of the stack and almost took out Jaylin Simpson, but I like the effort running to the football. There's certainly a lot of things he can improve upon as well, and we'll get him coached up on those, but I do think he's a really good young, talented player."
McClellan may not factor much into the Packers' defensive line rotation this season when Devonte Wyatt and Javon Hargrave are healthy. However, Green Bay used a Day 2 pick on McClellan because his skill set as a pass rusher and run defender showed long-term upside that could pay off in the future.
For today's film room, we are going to break down two of McClellan's better plays in Denver.
First, we are taking a look at a pass rush rep McClellan had against the Broncos' starting offense during the first quarter. He's lined up as the 3-technique over left guard Ben Powers' outside shoulder. When you look at McClellan's 6-foot-4, 313-pound frame, you would expect him to be tough to move but maybe not move as well as he does.

The White Sox got steamrolled, 11-2, by a team that entered the game worse than .500. The pitching was terrible, the bats were ice-cold, and the Rangers took advantage of the long ball on several occasions.
José Urquidy did not have a great start, tossing 39 pitches in his first frame. He walked the leadoff batter and the third batter, then hit Brandon Nimmo with a pitch to load the bases with only one out. Ezequiel Duran grounded into a force out at second, but sent Joc Pederson home. Evan Carter doubled, putting the second run on the board. With two outs, Jake Burger picked up a walk, but a pop-up from Elias Díaz would finally stop the damage. Miguel Vargas singled with two outs, and Andrew Benintendi nearly tied the game and would have with just a bit more wind, but Nimmo jumped up to rob the good guys of any runs.
With two outs in the top of the second, Corey Seager singled and was safe at second after Colson Montgomery scooped up a single from Wyatt Langford. Drew Romo blew through the first challenge as Nimmo picked up a walk to load the bases, with Urquidy already passing the 50-pitch mark. Chase Meidroth slipped, unable to grab what should've been an easy out, and another run came in on an infield single from Duran. Pederson, after not getting his challenge call in on time on a strikeout, continued to throw a tantrum, leading to his ejection. Romo ended additional on-field drama by tagging home for the inning-ending force-out. Braden Montgomery singled for the Good Guys, and with two outs, Tristan Peters took a slider and made the Rangers pay, cutting the deficit to 3-2. That home run put him in double-digits and his 10th homer this season:

With one out in the top of the third, Elias Díaz was hit by a pitch, and Cody Freeman singled. Seager caused more damage with a two-run double, giving the Rangers a 5-2 lead with two outs. The frame ended with a pop fly, but also on 93 pitches for Urquidy. The the bottom half Munetaka Murakami singled and Miguel Vargas walked to put two on base early. Benintendi grounded into a fielder's choice, and Braden Montgomery picked up a walk to load the bases. Of course, the next two batters struck out to strand all three runners.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Wyatt Langford had a tying RBI double in the 10th inning, then scored the winning run on third baseman Denzer Guzman's throwing error as the Texas Rangers beat the Los Angeles Angels 2-1 on Friday night.
Guzman had opened the top of the 10th with an RBI double to put the Angels ahead in the eighth MLB game this season that was scoreless going into extra innings.
With two outs in the bottom of the 10th after an intentional walk, Guzman made a nice stop on a grounder by Ezequiel Duran. But his wide throw to second base trying to get an inning-ending forceout allowed Langford to race home.
Tyler Alexander (4-2) pitched the 10th and struck out two for the win.
Ben Joyce (0-1) gave up two hits and two runs, neither earned, in 2/3 of an inning.

During the Thursday, August 20 episode of her Not Gonna Lie podcast, Kylie discussed her long-standing desire to bring a cat into her household. While chatting with guest Leslie Mann, the mother of four explained that her daughters had plenty of feline influence in their lives.
"I grew up with cats," Kylie explained. She said her childhood home had both cats and dogs. Kylie shares four daughters with Jason Kelce: Wyatt, 6, Elliotte, 5, Bennett, 3, and Finn, 17 months. Her daughters now have another feline influence, thanks to their famous aunt. "Aunt Taylor is a big one where they get to be around cats," Kylie said.
Kylie's daughters' love for cats comes from spending time with Taylor's pets. The singer has three famous cats, Olivia Benson, Meredith Grey, and Benjamin ***** on. Kylie shares how the girls play with Taylor's cats when they visit her. When they return home, they ask for one themselves. Kylie also mentions that the girls pick out cat-related stuff whenever they go shopping.
The girls share a special bond with Taylor. They played a major role in her wedding to Travis Kelce in July. Kylie and Jason's daughters served as flower girls during the couple's Madison Square Garden ceremony. The podcast host also has plenty of praise for Travis as an uncle. Kylie once called him the "absolute best uncle" her daughters could have.
Travis reportedly loves spending time with the girls. Kylie said they keep him busy whenever he visits. The girls make him sit on the floor and ask him to build blocks and complete puzzles with them. Now, Taylor's cats may have given them another idea.

The Jacksonville Jaguars announced a pair of roster moves before the team's second preseason game.
Continuing to bolster the offensive line depth, the Jaguars signed Timothy McKay. To make room on the roster, Jacksonville released defensive tackle Quinton Bohanna.
McKay went undrafted in 2025 out of NC State. He spent the year on the Washington Commanders' practice squad, not appearing in a regular-season game.
In college, McKay made 35 starts, playing both guard and tackle.
This addition comes as the Jaguars are navigating injuries up front. Currently, the team is without Patrick Mekari and Wyatt Milum, although his absence is expected to be brief. Cole Van Lanen was activated off the PUP list on Thursday.

Former Chargers defensive tackle Breiden Fehoko took to social media to rip the team for being cheap after the devastating injury to center Tyler Biadasz.
Fehoko also criticized the team for their approach to the center position this offseason and for their lack of depth at the position.
"100 million in cap ***** e. You just absolutely wanna be cheap for the position group that matters the most. So many quality free agents were available to build depth. I don't feel sorry for this team," Fehoko said.
In the replies to his original post, Fehoko listed centers he thinks the Chargers would have been better off signing, given the cap ***** e they entered this offseason with.
"Let's see who was all available: Elgton Jenkins, Wyatt Teller, Isaac Seumalo, [Alijah] Vera-Tucker, Braden Smith and [Spencer] Burford," Fehoko wrote.
