Global oil inventories are falling rapidly as the U.S.-Iran conflict and disruption to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz continue to affect supplies, but Citi estimates it could take several years before overall stockpiles approach levels ***** ociated with previous major oil crises.
In a note to clients, Citi ***** ysts estimated that observed global inventories declined at a rate of approximately 3 million barrels per day between February and August 2026. That translates into a ***** ulative draw of around 519 million barrels over the period.
If inventories continue declining at a similar pace, Citi projects that OECD stocks could reach approximately 70 days of supply cover by the end of 2027. Inventories outside China could fall to that threshold around the middle of 2028, while global stockpiles could reach it during the first quarter of 2029.
The 70-day level is significant because, according to Citi, it was reached during the second oil shock of the 1970s and 1980s. At that time, energy expenditure climbed to approximately 8% of GDP. The bank estimates that a comparable burden today would imply all-in oil prices above $200 per barrel, compared with roughly $120 currently.
However, Citi warned that looking only at aggregate inventories could obscure much more immediate pressure in individual parts of the energy market.

The decision leaves room for additional court challenges that could further slow Trump's order, and other similar cases have already been filed. • The changes come after the U.S. Trade Representative in May launched a Section 301 investigation into Vietnam's intellectual property regime after designating the country a "priority foreign country" in its annual Special 301 review.
• Among the concerns cited by USTR were widespread counterfeiting, weak border enforcement, limited use of customs' authority to seize suspected counterfeit goods on its own initiative, and the absence of similar powers over goods transiting Vietnam.
• The revised law, which takes effect in March 2027, expands customs enforcement provisions to cover not only imported and exported goods but also goods transiting through Vietnam, broadening the range of shipments that may be subject to intervention by customs authorities.

Miller got shelled in both of his outings last week, continuing a horrendous month of August for the 28-year-old right-hander.
On Tuesday, he allowed six runs on seven hits in 4 2/3 innings agains he Milaukee Brewers. The Mariners imploded after he left the game, losing 22-0 in one of the most lopsided defeats in MLB history.

"If I were to bring home a white man, my parents would roll out the red carpet for him. So my brother actually brought home a white woman to introduce to my parents. And they accepted her immediately. They actually didn't even ask her any questions, like what her profession was, where she worked, how much money she made. Because her being white automatically just checked off all the boxes for them," she explains.
As for the comparison, the woman claims that her brother had a big family presence at his wedding, while she doesn't have anything similar because of her relationship.

How many roster spots are up for grabs as the Green Bay Packers enter the final week of the preseason? It's possible there's not as many as you think. While things can and often do change late in the process, especially with a joint practice and the preseason finale still to go this week, the Packers' roster is starting to solidify before Sunday's final cutdown day.
To see how many spots are still in question, we compared 53-man roster predictions from three sources: Justis Mosqueda of Acme Packing Co., Rob Demovsky of ESPN and Matt Schneidman of The Athletic. The idea here was to identify which players made all three 53-man roster predictions, and then determine who is on the roster bubble.
There wasn't much to separate the individual projections, suggesting the roster is being viewed similarly by those on the outside. Is there a similar consensus inside Lambeau Field? We'll see.
The following players were on each 53-man roster projection. Incredibly, 50 players made all three. While not all of those players are stone cold roster locks, there might only be a few roster spots truly up for grabs entering the final week.

NEW DELHI: Yashasvi Jaiswal has broken his silence on his heated confrontation with Sri Lanka pacer Asitha Fernando, making a surprise comment on a social media video discussing their on-field spat during the opening day of the second Test in Colombo.
Jaiswal responded to a Cricbuzz video featuring cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle, ***** led 'Did Jaiswal cross the line?', urging people not to judge the incident without knowing what had been said between the two players.

Texas A&M's 14th preseason practice was the final time those of us in the media were allowed to watch the Aggies in a live setting before the 2026 season opener, which is less than two weeks away, as third-year coach Mike Elko and his staff are close to solidifying the final depth chart before hosting Missouri State on Saturday, Sept. 5.
While the Aggies' secondary and wide receiver rotation are by far the deepest units on the roster, Texas A&M's tight end room, which, on paper, is led by senior Micah Riley, one of the program's five team captains, replacing Nate Boerkircher, who led the room in receiving yards and touchdowns last season, will be tough to replace as a blocker and receiver.

NEW DELHI: Bangladesh's defeat to Australia in the second Test in Mackay has given India a small but significant boost in the race for a place in the World Test Championship (WTC) final.
Bangladesh had stunned Australia in the opening Test in Darwin to secure their first-ever Test win Down Under, but Mitchell Starc's 10-wicket match haul inspired the hosts to an innings-and-51-run victory in the second Test on Sunday. The result not only allowed Australia to level the series 1-1 but also cost Bangladesh valuable points in the WTC standings.
India, currently fifth in the nine-team table, can now move above Bangladesh and reclaim fourth place by beating Sri Lanka in the second Test in Colombo.
Bangladesh remain fourth despite the defeat, but their points percentage (PCT) has dropped sharply from 66.67 after their Darwin victory to 55.56. They now have 50 points from six matches, with three wins, two defeats and one draw.
India are just behind them with 64 points and a PCT of 53.33 from 10 matches. Shubman Gill's side have five wins, four defeats and one draw.

Shanto also called for Bangladesh to play more frequently in Australia after their first Test series there in 23 years.
"We are here after 23 years (first Test series in Australia since 2003). It's not easy to compete in this condition against this quality of team. If we are able to come here consistently, then the players can get an idea of playing here. They will have more experience playing in Australia. They can adjust to this kind of condition and play good cricket," he said.

Bangladesh had stunned Australia in the opening Test in Darwin to secure their first-ever Test win Down Under, but Mitchell Starc's 10-wicket match haul inspired the hosts to an innings-and-51-run victory in the second Test on Sunday. The result not only allowed Australia to level the series 1-1 but also cost Bangladesh valuable points in the WTC standings.
India, currently fifth in the nine-team table, can now move above Bangladesh and reclaim fourth place by beating Sri Lanka in the second Test in Colombo.
Bangladesh remain fourth despite the defeat, but their points percentage (PCT) has dropped sharply from 66.67 after their Darwin victory to 55.56. They now have 50 points from six matches, with three wins, two defeats and one draw.
India are just behind them with 64 points and a PCT of 53.33 from 10 matches. Shubman Gill's side have five wins, four defeats and one draw.
The equation is straightforward for India: a victory over Sri Lanka in Colombo will take them past Bangladesh and into fourth place.
Australia strengthened their position at the top with 96 points and an 80 PCT from 10 matches, while South Africa are second with a 75 PCT and New Zealand third with 72.22.
Sri Lanka, India's current opponents, are sixth with a PCT of 33.33. England, West Indies and Pakistan occupy the next three positions.
India's bigger challenge, however, is that they need to continue winning consistently to stay in contention for the top two positions that ultimately determine the finalists.
Bangladesh's Test campaign has still produced a landmark achievement. Despite losing the second Test, they climbed three places to No.6 in the latest ICC Test rankings — their highest-ever position.

Leeds United saved their best moment of the match for the final few minutes in our season opening clash away at Nottingham Forest to take three points from the City Ground.
With the scores level approaching the 90-minute mark, Anton Stach was fouled outside of the Forest box. The midfielder stepped up himself and curled home a delightful free-kick, which sparked jubilant scenes behind the goal from the away fans.
Speaking after the match, the German international gave his thoughts on the goal, the fans, and the game as a whole, saying: "I think first of all, it is so important to get good start.
"It is such a difficult away game. I think the game was really tight overall, it was a lot about duels and winning second ***** , and of course it is really nice that we won the game at the end.
"I always try. I think the first free kick [Stach's earlier attempt from a similar position] was also not too bad over the post and then I tried again! It was nice that it went in today and we took the big three points.
