NEW YORK (AP) — Ninety Grand Slam tournaments have passed since Andy Roddick defeated Juan Carlos Ferrero in the 2003 final at Flushing Meadows. Since then, no other U.S. male player has managed to win the U.S. Open on home soil or any of the other three majors.
Apart from Argentina's Juan Martín del Potro at the 2009 U.S. Open and his compatriot Gastón Gaudio at the 2004 French Open, every champion across the world's four major tournaments has been European.
Frances Tiafoe or Ben Shelton — who face off in the U.S. Open semifinals on Friday night — could end this drought for American men.
"You know the history; it was the era of the 'Big Three' (Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic) — something unmatched," Del Potro told reporters. "But American tennis has the potential to break this pattern. There are so many good players now with the potential to be Grand Slam champions, and I sincerely believe Tiafoe or Shelton can do it."
As the last Grand Slam champion born outside of Europe, Del Potro takes pride in walking the grounds of the U.S. Open.

The Mets are making a change in their bullpen ahead of their series in the Bronx, recalling Jack Weisenburger and sending Chris Devenski back to Triple-A Syracuse.
Weisenburger appeared in three games for the Mets in August, tossing four and a third innings, allowing one run on three hits, walking two and striking out four. In 18 games for Syracuse (13 starts), Weisenburger has a 6.68 ERA over 62 innings pitched, with 53 strikeouts to 34 walks and eight home runs allowed.
Devenski split time between the Mets and Pirates organizations this season, and in six appearances for the Mets was more or less fine until his last appearance against the Marlins, where he was responsible for five of the runs in the Mets' wild 15-14 dub on Wednesday. The 35 year old veteran has a 13.50 ERA for the Mets this season, and an 11.74 ERA across both clubs in the majors.
With a little more than a week left in the Triple-A season and Syracuse two and a half games out of a playoff spot, Devenski will have plenty of opportunity for some innings before, potentially, rejoining the Mets if the need arises.
The second half of the Subway Series with the Yankees starts tonight at 7:05pm on PIX11 with Nolan McLean facing off against Carlos Rodón.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers may be walking directly into one of Joe Burrow's strengths when they face the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1.
Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles has long relied on pressure, with Tampa Bay blitzing on 37.7% of its defensive snaps during his tenure, the third-highest rate in the NFL, via Sports Illustrated's Joe Goodberry.
That method could be dangerous against Burrow.
"Joe Burrow dices up the blitz. He always has, but last season, Burrow completed 71.4% of his passes against the blitz at 8.3 yards per attempt and had a passer rating of 122.6 passer rating," Goodberry wrote.
Six of his eight touchdowns against extra rushers came on throws released in under 2.5 seconds.

Kim Zolciak put on a brave face in court Friday, September 11, amid her son Kroy "KJ" Biermann Jr.'s ***** ual ***** ault case.
Both Zolciak, 48, and her estranged husband, Kroy Biermann, were on hand at the Fulton County Superior Court in Atlanta to support the 15-year-old, who is seeking bond.
While KJ's attorney, Jason Sheffield, asked that his client be released on a $65,000 bond and insisted Zolciak would monitor him at home, Judge Melynee Leftridge said that she will decide whether KJ, who is currently jailed at Atlanta's Metro Regional Youth Detention Center, will be released on bond by Monday.
An eyewitness in the courtroom told Page Six that the Real Housewives of Atlanta alum appeared "stone-faced" throughout the hearing while sitting beside daughter Brielle Biermann in the third row. The former NFL star, 40, looked "stressed" meanwhile, the outlet reported, as he sat in the second row in front of the pair.
While the source noted that the pair did not interact in court, according to Page Six, a separate eyewitness spotted the exes, who also share children, Kash, 14, and twins Kaia and Kane, 12, earlier this week, describing Zolciak as "hectic and scattered" and "walking at a hurried pace."

Tucker Kraft remains one of the Green Bay Packers' biggest unresolved situations heading into Week 1. Green Bay has yet to reach an agreement on a contract extension with the young tight end, while the team also awaits a timetable for Josh Jacobs' potential NFL discipline amid his legal issues.
Adam Schefter weighed in on Kraft's contract talks with Green Bay, urging the tight end to think twice before walking away from guaranteed money that could be available to him.
"He's coming off a torn ACL and the Packers have a relatively strong offer out there. I think it's hard coming off an ACL to turn down real money," the NFL ****** yst commented during his appearance on The Pat McAfee show.

Vivian Jenna Wilson is taking aim at artificial intelligence – and seemingly her billionaire father – in a new fashion campaign with Desigual.
Wilson, the estranged daughter of Elon Musk, stars in the fashion brand's fall 2026 "Born to Disobey" campaign, which features a malfunctioning robot, an apparent dig at Musk's humanoid robot called Optimus.
In the campaign video, the 22-year-old model is paired with DESI84, a humanoid robot that she says was "designed to obey" and ***** ist with everyday tasks. Wilson instead puts the machine through a series of unconventional tests, including walking it like a dog and using it as a golf tee.

The robot also struggles to ***** ounce the Spanish fashion brand's name correctly before repeatedly banging its head against a wall. Wilson ultimately concludes, "Some things aren't meant to be fixed."

Brooklyn Beckham, widely known as David Beckham's son, has made headlines lately because of his marriage to Nicola Peltz and reported family tension with his mother. Amid all this, the model recently appeared with his wife on the red carpet in a moment caught on camera.
Recently, the power couple attended the Deauville American Film Festival in France on Tuesday, September 8, 2026. However, as always, fans did not focus on their designer outfits this time. Instead, their red carpet moment left fans wondering whether something was going on between Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz.
According to coverage from News.com, everything appeared fine at first, as the model kissed and hugged his wife. However, shortly after, the Foosball star stepped aside so that the Lola actress could enjoy the spotlight on her own. Before leaving Nicola Peltz, Brooklyn Beckham also fixed the back of her gown so that the actress could continue walking the red carpet without any trouble.
However, according to the source, Beckham's move appeared to slightly irritate Peltz. The video clearly showed the 31-year-old staring at David Beckham's son until he had walked away and reached the barrier nearby.
For context, Nicola Peltz attended the Deauville American Film Festival to support her friend and Prime co-star Faye Dunaway, who received the Icon Award that night. Meanwhile, the former footballer's son supported his wife at the event.

Aston Villa v **** nal, August 2024. Morgan Rogers receives a pass facing his own goal and Declan Rice is immediately on his back, but the Villa midfielder takes the ball with the outside of his right foot and swivels into **** e, leaving Rice behind. The **** e is quickly filled by **** nal's midfield enforcer Thomas Partey, but Rogers knocks it past Partey and races around his back to regather the ball, leaving the Ghanaian splayed on the grass. Their tussle at least buys Rice some time to catch up, but as he lunges in to make the tackle, Rogers takes a clever touch and Rice concedes a clumsy foul.
Arsenal would go on to win but it was an afternoon full of moments like that one in which Rogers tormented his opponents. After the game, Mikel Arteta marvelled at his performance. On Sky Sports, Jamie Redknapp compared Rogers to "Jonah Lomu in his prime", and when you saw the trail of **** nal bodies left on the floor, you understood exactly what he meant.
The Lomu comparison touched on what makes Rogers rare, even unique, in world football, and perhaps helps to explain why Chelsea FC were prepared to spend £117m to sign him this summer. Rogers is a blend of football genres, a walking oxymoron, powerful and graceful, hardy and agile, heavy and light all at once, like some contorted beast with the shoulders of a buffalo and the feet of a squirrel on an errand.
Morgan Rogers has made an impressive start to life at Chelsea (Getty)
There are other robust ball-carriers at the top of the game: Antoine **** yo and Jude Bellingham come to mind; Ryan Gravenberch, Manu Kone and Rice all perform similar functions from deep. But none have Rogers' package of strength and balance, quick feet and rapid acceleration, that creative eye and subtle movement between the lines. In an increasingly **** genized world of coaching and industrialised talent production, Rogers is something of a unicorn forward.

This year hasn't treated Netflix's (NFLX) stock well, and it is down over 18% year-to-date (YTD). It peaked above $108 in April ahead of its Q1 2026 earnings. However, that report triggered a selloff in Netflix, as did the next one. Incidentally, the company did not raise its 2026 guidance in either release, which dampened sentiment and raised fears of a slowdown in the back half of the year.
To be sure, Netflix hasn't had a linear decline this year, and the stock has had its moments. It rallied in late February after the company announced that it was walking away from the bidding war for Warner Bros. Discovery's (WBD) ******* ets. It did not hurt that Paramount Skydance (PSKY) paid a $2.8 billion breakup fee to Netflix for stepping aside from the deal. NFLX hit its 2026 lows following its Q2 2026 confessional but smartly rallied from those levels, in part aided by the disclosure that Bill Ackman's Pershing Square Holdings (PSHZF) took a stake in Q2.

Elon Musk's estranged eldest daughter Vivian Wilson is front and centre in a bold anti-AI campaign for Spanish fashion label Desigual.
The campaign, helmed by directing trio PSG (made up of Yukihiro 'Sho' Shoda, Pau López and Gerardo del Hierro - formerly known as TURBO), sees the transgender model, acitvist and social media personality take a stand against artificial intelligence.
Illustrating the campaign's ****** le, 'Born to Disobey', one clip sees the 22-year-old using a robot as a golf tee, walking it like a dog on a leash, and trying to teach it to say "Desigual". Throughout, the robot malfunctions, leading Vivian to the conclusion: "Some things aren't meant to be fixed."
Per a press release, the campaign aims to "send a clear message: the greatest rebellion is no longer about fighting against the system but about refusing to be part of it. When everything invites you to obey, the answer is attitude, irony and the freedom to be yourself."
Wilson told People that it was important to her to take a stance on the impact of AI on the fashion industry "because it takes jobs away from talented creatives while being detrimental for the environment."

Notre Dame football won its 2026 season opener on Sunday night, as the Irish used a huge second half to beat the Wisconsin Badgers in Lambeau Field, 41-13.
There was some bad news during the contest, as star safety Brauntae Johnson was seen walking off the field and into the locker room on his own power, then coming back onto the field in the second half wearing a walking boot. The hope was that the injury would not be a significant one, and that is looking like it will be the case.
Mike Berardino of the South Bend Tribune is reporting that Johnson's injury is minor, and is on his left foot. He goes on to say that he could miss more than a few weeks while recovering, but it is not believed to be a season-ending issue.
In another note that Berardino had, he mentioned that defensive tackle Jayson Onye's injury status has still not been determined, as he was also seen wearing a walking boot in the second half. Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman will speak shortly on these two players, and we'll soon get confirmation on their injury status.

Pop star Pink is under fire online for resharing an anti-Israel message and then following it up with a series of Instagram posts directed at her detractors.
Macklemore, whose real name is Benjamin Hammond Haggerty, supported British musician Ed Sheeran on stage at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey in a show called Loop Tour on September 4 and 5. Donning a keffiyeh in front of an 80,000-strong audience, the rapper shouted "Free Palestine" and addressed Gaza and the occupied West Bank, saying that they are not being forgotten.
"Every human being walking on this earth deserves exactly the same freedom," he added, as reported by Variety.
The rapper then performed his protest song "Hind's Hall," which featured flashes of Gaza on the stadium screens. Macklemore referenced Hind Rajab, a young Palestinian girl killed in Gaza, named after student demonstrators at Columbia University who renamed a campus building in her honor. The rapper then addressed Jewish concertgoers, saying that criticizing Israel and condemning their actions as genocide is not a condemnation of Jewish people and that his message is a message of peace and dignity for everyone.
American pop diva, whose legal name is Alecia Beth Moore Hart, posted a video with the message "Awful" to her Instagram Story, claiming that Jewish fans who came to see Sheeran's performance are exposed to propaganda against Israel. According to Pink, Macklemore's speech and video presentation amount to a false accusation of genocide, and people who came to the concert are entitled to "apologies and refunds."

Reuters reported that Solstice Advanced Materials, Inc. (NASDAQ:SOLS) and Element Solutions Inc (NYSE:ESI) mutually agreed to terminate their $14.5 billion merger agreement, the companies said on August 27, citing feedback from shareholders on both sides who preferred each to stay independent. Neither side will pay a termination fee.
Solstice Chairman Rajeev Gautam said the company valued that feedback, including shareholders' "excitement about Solstice's strategy and growth trajectory as an independent company." Solstice's board also authorized its first-ever buyback, up to $500 million, and reaffirmed its recently raised guidance. Solstice shares jumped 15% in after-hours trading, while Element gained 4%. The deal, announced July 6 just 10 months after Solstice's Honeywell spin-off, would have combined Solstice's refrigerants and specialty materials businesses with Element's electronics chemicals operations, paying Element holders $10 cash plus 0.5 Solstice shares per share. The original announcement got a rough welcome: Solstice fell nearly 15% that day, which CEO David Sewell blamed on arbitrage trading, not doubts about the deal.
Both companies continue to perform strongly on their own. Solstice's second-quarter net sales rose 11% to $1.148 billion, and the company raised its full-year sales guidance to $4.125 billion-$4.185 billion. Element delivered an even stronger quarter, with record net sales up 56% to $978 million and full-year adjusted EBITDA guidance raised to $690 million-$710 million.
Solstice Advanced Materials, Inc. (NASDAQ:SOLS) sheds significant deal risk by walking away. The termination removes the financing and merger risks linked to the acquisition and eliminates the need to use the $4.685 billion bridge facility. It also lets Solstice maintain its 1.3x net leverage. Its new $500 million buyback, the company's first ever, also gives Solstice a direct way to return capital to shareholders while it focuses on organic growth.
Element Solutions Inc (NYSE:ESI) also maintains the strengths that its shareholders wanted to preserve. Chairman Ian Ashken said investors valued Element's management team, culture, and existing business portfolio. CEO Benjamin Gliklich said the company's growth remains compelling. Remaining independent allows Element to continue investing in its existing businesses and pursuing its own growth strategy without taking on the risks of a larger combination.

On August 13, TSS Inc. (NASDAQ:TSSI) reported second-quarter results that look worse on the top line and better underneath it. Revenue fell 20% year over year to $35.1 million, yet gross profit rose 11% and adjusted EBITDA climbed 12%. The company is deliberately walking away from lower-margin procurement work and leaning into systems integration for AI and HPC infrastructure, a business that grew 46% in the quarter. That trade-off is the whole story right now, and it cuts both ways.
Systems integration revenue reached $13.9 million in the quarter, up 46% from a year earlier, and now makes up 39% of revenue, versus just 22% in last year's second quarter. Facilities management grew even faster, up 84% to $2.7 million. CEO Darryll Dewan said systems integration is expected to keep outpacing the rest of the business given strong demand and the company's track record on complex technology projects.
TSS has started deploying capital toward a planned $17 million investment aimed at the next wave of AI data center technology, a buildout the company expects to start converting into higher systems integration revenue in the third quarter. The company has also put an idle **** et back to work: its former Round Rock integration facility began warehouse operations on May 1, generating $0.3 million in operating lease income during the quarter.
Management is also pointing to stronger months ahead. TSS expects the second half of 2026 to outperform the first half, with accelerated systems integration growth, and it maintained guidance for full-year adjusted EBITDA to land between $20 million and $22 million, at the high end of that band.
The revenue decline is not small. Procurement revenue, still TSS's largest segment by dollars, fell 45% to $18.2 million in the quarter and is down 53% to $58.2 million for the first six months of the year. That drop pulled total revenue down 20% in the quarter and 37% for the year to date, to $90.5 million, even as the higher-margin segments expanded.

White Sox manager Will Venable jokingly lamented on Saturday that it seems as though the Cleveland Guardians are always winning. True to form, they walked off the Detroit Tigers a couple of hours before first pitch between the Sox and Twins Sunday night. Winners of three out of four in Detroit, the Guardians are the biggest threat to Sox' hopes of winning the division at just 2.5 games back.
They'll face each other three times in Cleveland in a little over a week, but in the meantime, the White Sox have to make sure they're winning at least as often as the Guardians are.
The White Sox did just that against the Twins on Sunday, winning 10-1 while showcasing much of why they are the American League Central frontrunners and why they will be a dangerous team to face in the postseason. In a planned bullpen game, the group of Bryan Hudson, Jordan Hicks, Hagen Smith, Grant Taylor, and Tyler Davis combined to allow just one run while striking out 15 Minnesota batters and walking only one.
"The plan worked," Venable said. "Everyone did a great job. They came out, they executed, got the outs we needed. The line for the bullpen speaks for itself."
There was really only one hiccup, when Grant Taylor gave up a leadoff homer to Brooks Lee and then walked Ryan Jeffers in the seventh inning, but even he went on to **** ert his dominance. After those two batters, he retired the next three in the seventh and struck out the side in the eighth inning.

Police and Child Protective Services became involved, and Parkinson, who was eight months pregnant at the time, had her six-month jail sentence suspended, but the charge remains.
Karyann Parkinson appears with some of her children in this family photo provided to Fox News.

The Diamondbacks came into the game looking for a series win, and with a little bit of luck, putting some more ***** e between their competition for the final NL Wild Card spot. Having Eduardo Rodriguez on the mound was a point in their favor, but the offense still RVSP'd maybe when invited to the game.
The Diamondbacks were quiet in the top of the first, with the only baserunner being a Geraldo Perdomo hit by pitch, and that allowed the Astros to strike first. E-Rod got Jeremy Pena to ground out, but Yordan Alvarez absolutely clobbered one for a solo home run. That was the first indication that Rodriguez didn't have his best stuff today, but the next few batters hammered that home, even if there wasn't much damage done. He walked both Isaac Paredes and Christian Walker, but alternated those walks with a line out from Jose Altuve and got out of the jam with a Nelson Velasquez strike out. 0-1 Astros
This, of course, did raise some concerns amongst the faithful about the early need to score more than one run. That's been a challenge for the Diamondbacks, last night's four run outbreak aside. The offense decided to do some to ***** uage those fears, but did not manage to score multiple runs right away. Corbin Carroll started off the second inning with a double, advanced on a sac bunt from Tommy Troy, and then scored on a sac fly from James McCann. Illdemaro Vargas tried to keep things going with a two out single, but Lawler was unable to step up and ended the inning with a line out to third. Tied 1-1
Rodriguez issues with command continued right away in the bottom of the second, walking Dalton Varsho. Never a good idea to walk someone like him, as he showed when he stole second to get into scoring position two outs later. Too late for it to matter, though, as Jeremy Pena only saw three pitches and flew out to end the inning.
The third inning was… something. Perdomo singled to lead off the inning, bringing Ketel Marte to the plate. Marte got an 86 MPH changeup down and away and turned it around for what looked like an easy single. The only with that is the ball also acted as a heat seeking missel straight to Perdomo's helmet. He hit the ground immediately and quickly found himself surrounded by trainers from both teams. Eventually he left under his own power to a nice ovation from the Houston crowd, as one does.

Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop Geraldo Perdomo left their matchup with the Houston Astros early on Sunday afternoon after he was struck in the helmet by a line drive.
Perdomo went down in the third inning of the contest at Daikin Park, shortly after he opened the frame with a single. Ketel Marte followed that up with a 93 mph single of his own, but the ball ended up drilling Perdomo directly in the helmet as he tried to run to second.
Perdomo fell back to the dirt and remained there for several minutes, clearly in a lot of pain, before he eventually left the field walking on his own. He did not return.
The Diamondbacks ruled Perdomo out with a head contusion. Further specifics of his injury are not yet known.
Perdomo entered Sunday's contest with a .250 batting average with 48 RBI and nine home runs this season, his sixth in the league. The Diamondbacks hold a 75-68 record and sit in second in the NL West race, just half of a game ahead of the San Diego Padres for the final wild-card spot.

There was some concern for Wisconsin's offensive line as it gets ready to face Notre Dame later today, and early Sunday morning Pete Thamel of ESPN gave a good and bad report for the Badgers.
The Irish most likely prepared to see both offensive lineman Kevin Heywood and Emerson Mandell, but the latter will not play. Wisconsin will be without Mandell, who started 12 games for them last year. As for Heywood, he got injured early during fall camp, had been seen in a walking boot, but will give it a go.
Notre Dame's defensive line has the potential to be one of the best in the country this season, and this isn't the best news for Wisconsin. For them to pull off another upset in Lambeau Field, they needed to be at full-strength, which clearly they won't be.
Expect the Irish to try and take full advantage of the Badgers new lineman, but since both players have been out, they most likely prepared for them to be out of this game. We'll soon see how big of an impact losing Mandell but having Heywood is for Wisconsin.

Lane Kiffin had little reason to be upset at halftime of his first game as LSU's football coach, with the Tigers beating Clemson by 28, but before he went back to the locker room, he had one more thing he wanted to say to the millions of fans tuning in.
At the end of his halftime interview with ESPN's Holly Rowe, and as he was walking away from the camera, Kiffin turned around to deliver a final message.
"It took everything not to say 'Imagine if we had pro players,'" Kiffin said before running off to the tunnel at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

For the past several weeks, Kiffin has occupied a familiar role as one of college football's villains, as two of his former players at Mississippi — tight end Dae'Quan Wright and defensive lineman Zxavian Harris — have fought to become eligible to play for LSU this season after signing NFL contracts earlier this year.

DENVER (AP) — Cole Carrigg had two hits, including a leadoff single to spark a six-run fifth inning, and the Colorado Rockies beat the St. Louis Cardinals 10-7 on Saturday night.
The Rockies, who managed just a walk through the first four innings, finished with 11 hits.
Colorado starter Mason Adams, making his third start since his major league debut Aug. 25, failed to make it out of the fifth and was denied his first career win. Brennan Bernardino (4-3) got the win and Jordan Romano got the final two outs for his 15th save.
Cardinals starter Matthew Liberatore (5-14) lost his eighth straight decision and has not won in his last nine starts. He set down the first 10 batters before walking Connor Norby, then got the next two batters before Colorado broke through in the fifth.
With one out, the Rockies had three straight singles to score two, and Liberatore threw two wild pitches during Jake McCarthy's at-bat to bring home another run. McCarthy and Tovar pulled off a double steal, McCarthy scored on a single and TJ Rumfield capped the inning with an RBI double.
