Christa Pike is "up and walking" in the hospital after surviving last week's failed attempt to execute her in Tennessee, a member of her legal team said Thursday.
Lawyer Stephen Ferrell told the BBC that he had learned she was moving around her hospital room, although he had not spoken to her.
"What's been described to me is that physically there's quite a bit going on, that her arms are very injured and she's not able to use them very much," he said. "She is up and walking for the first time today, but just around the room, not very far."
Ferrell described her mental state as "kind of good and bad," adding, "Good that she is fairly with it, but she's also somewhat foggy. She can lose her train of thought really easily and forgets where she's going."
He said he ****** umed Pike's situation would "keep improving," but added that "there could be some permanent damage. We don't know that yet."
