Baron Capital, an investment management company, released its Q2 2026 investor letter for the "Baron Discovery Fund". A copy of the letter is available to download here. Baron Discovery Fund appreciated by 19.08% (Institutional Shares) in the quarter, underperforming the Russell 2000 Growth Index, which gained 25.71%. This lag was primarily due to a momentum-driven "AI winners" trade, with these stocks largely contributing to the Benchmark's performance. The Fund experienced a 6.63% underperformance, largely driven by an underweight in strong-performing Momentum and Beta factors. The Fund prioritizes a long-term balanced portfolio over chasing momentum. The letter discussed parallels between the current AI market and the late 1990s dot-com bubble. The firm remains focused on company fundamentals and long-term valuation. Please review the fund's top five holdings to gain insights into their key selections for 2026.
In its Q2 2026 investor letter, Baron Discovery Fund highlighted Forgent Power Solutions, Inc. (NYSE:FPS) as a leading contributor to performance. Forgent Power Solutions, Inc. (NYSE:FPS) is a leading industrial company that designs and manufactures electrical distribution equipment used in data centers, the power grid, and energy-intensive industrial facilities. On August 10, 2026, Forgent Power Solutions, Inc. (NYSE:FPS) closed at $37.60 per share, reflecting a market capitalization of $11.45 billion. Forgent Power Solutions, Inc. (NYSE:FPS) posted a one-month return of -6.12%.
Baron Discovery Fund stated the following regarding Forgent Power Solutions, Inc. (NYSE:FPS) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"Forgent Power Solutions, Inc. (NYSE:FPS) is a leading manufacturer of electrical distribution equipment used in data centers, the power grid, and industrial applications. Forgent is a low- and medium voltage equipment specialist focused on custom, "engineered-to order" products (over 90% of revenue) whereas larger competitors in the industry generally focus more on higher voltage and standard products. The stock rose during the quarter as Forgent continued to deliver very strong financial results reflecting improving demand for its products amidst the broader data points on AI infrastructure and grid buildout continuing to point to strong growth for the next several years. Forgent is gaining share with its ability to offer customized products at industry-leading lead times and is still just scratching the surface of its opportunity having sold very little directly to the biggest customers in the market. The company has invested heavily in capacity and people to support future growth, and we see many strong years of growth and margin expansion ahead as it grows from an approximate $1.2 billion revenue run rate currently into its $5 billion manufacturing footprint."

TeraWulf (NASDAQ: WULF) reported second-quarter revenue of $44.8 million, down 6% from $47.6 million a year earlier. HPC lease revenue came in at $31.9 million, or about 71% of the total, while cryptocurrency revenue declined to $12.8 million from $47.6 million.
The operator recorded a $940.8 million net loss, compared with $18.4 million a year earlier. The quarter included a $755.7 million loss from changes in warrant liability fair values, while adjusted EBITDA moved to an $18.3 million loss from $14.5 million of income.
At the center of TeraWulf's earnings is the 20-year lease with Anthropic covering approximately 401 MW of critical IT capacity at the Justified Data Campus in Hawesville, Kentucky. The contract represents about $19 billion of revenue during its initial term and could reach $33 billion if Anthropic exercises two five-year extensions.
Initial capacity is slated to start coming online in the second half of 2027, with complete delivery anticipated in early 2028. Justified has about 480 MW of gross power capacity, plus an energized onsite substation and existing high-voltage transmission infrastructure.

Anthropic has signed a $10 billion, six-year deal for computing capacity with Volta Infra Holdings, a cloud infrastructure startup backed by Nvidia Corp (NASDAQ:NVDA, XETRA:NVD), according to media reports citing people familiar with the matter, as the Claude maker moves to secure additional computing resources amid growing demand for its AI products.
Volta announced earlier Tuesday that it had secured a six-year, $10 billion agreement with an unnamed artificial intelligence company. The deal will be delivered in partnership with Bitdeer Technologies Group, a bitcoin miner that operates data centers, using a site in Norway.
The managed data center is expected to feature Nvidia's next-generation Vera Rubin AI chips, according to details of the agreement. Volta was recently valued at $2.4 billion following a $300 million funding round.
Volta CEO Ricard Boada declined to identify the customer. Representatives for Anthropic and Bitdeer declined to comment.
The agreement adds to Anthropic's efforts to expand its computing capacity as businesses and consumers increasingly use its Claude chatbot and other AI tools, particularly for coding and related tasks.

Arete Research, an independent research firm, has upgraded Texas Instruments Incorporated (NASDAQ:TXN) to Buy from Neutral and lifted its price target to $405 from $303. This 34% raise in the PT comes days after the company posted a strong quarter – a surprise from an ***** og cyclical sector. Texas Instruments' Q2 revenue reached $5.46 billion, up 23% year-over-year, beating the $5.24 billion consensus. The company's EPS rose 52% year-over-year, beating the $1.92 Street estimate with $2.14. The most crucial piece of information tucked away in the report is the twofold growth in data center income.
According to an Arete Research ***** yst, the surging AI demand is anticipated to cause three years of ***** og semiconductor shortages. The ***** yst believes that Texas Instruments is well-positioned with respect to capacity, which should yield significant market share gains during this cycle. Arete projects revenue of approximately $34 billion with earnings of $17 per share by fiscal 2028. These structural tailwinds, discussed by the ***** yst, align with the company's operational and financial performance. Let's break them down.
The AI buildout faces one severe bottleneck – power shortage. And power is exactly what Texas Instruments, nicknamed by the market as "boring ***** og," sells. Hyperscalers are shifting toward 800-volt DC architectures to support denser GPU clusters. As a result, the need for ***** og content per rack increases. Texas Instruments serves this critical conversion layer through high-voltage gallium-nitride (GaN) power devices, real-time motor control, and sensing technology. Additionally, the company's March collaboration with Nvidia on humanoid robotics expands this portfolio. These demands fuel the quarterly ***** og revenue, which rose 26% to $4.37 billion. Texas Instruments is not relying on an industrial market recovery but is working on strengthening its position as a significant supplier for technology's most capital-intensive infrastructure cycle.
A more durable driver stems from timing rather than the AI narrative. Texas Instruments is completing a six-year, roughly $24 billion fab expansion that constrained free cash flow. Spending is dropping significantly. The 2026 capex projected at $2 billion to $3 billion stands in contrast to the comparatively high $4.55 billion in 2025. The fabs are complete, and revenue is recovering now, allowing management to anticipate free cash flow per share exceeding $8 in 2026, compared to $3.23 in 2025. Cash generation is tripling alongside declining capital expenditure, altering the investment profile investors have avoided during the build.

Princess Diana's White House dance with John Travolta reportedly became a famous photograph. The People's Princess was 24 when she spun with the Hollywood star at Reagan's 1985 state dinner. A new source revisited the night and claimed the connection lasted beyond the ballroom. The report pointed to her love of dance. It also included claims that she later corresponded with him from Britain. That frame made the dance feel like a longer story.
According to a RadarOnline report, the dance took place at the White House in 1985. The dinner was hosted by President Ronald Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan. Guests included Clint Eastwood, Tom Selleck, Gloria Vanderbilt, and Travolta.
The actor had become famous through "Saturday Night Fever" and "Grease." Travolta later called the moment "a highlight of being in the United States." He also said it was Diana's "favorite moment," according to the report.
Meanwhile, Travolta said the dance was arranged quietly by Nancy Reagan. He recalled being told the princess wanted to dance, but he had to lead. Travolta said, "At midnight, I had to tap her on the shoulder."
He then asked, "Would you care to dance?" The actor said she dipped her head "in that Lady Diana way." Then, "we were off for 15 minutes dancing." He later described it as "like a dream."

July 9 (Reuters) - Skyrocketing demand from artificial intelligence data centers is exacerbating shortages of critical grid equipment like transformers across the U.S., driving up costs, stretching out wait times and spurring utilities and developers to lock in orders far in advance.
Transformers, which are used to step ‌up or step down electricity voltage, have witnessed persistent shortages over the last five years, when demand began to rebound faster than supply due to ‌COVID-19-related lockdowns.
Supplies are being further squeezed by the rapid buildout of AI infrastructure, experts say. Lead times, or the time taken between an initial order and its delivery, for some high-voltage transformers have increased to multiple years from around a year in 2020 and 2021.
"Equipment availability is becoming the biggest concern for developers as they value time to market so highly," said Ben Boucher, senior **** yst with consultancy Wood Mackenzie.

AI has pushed Texas Instruments (TXN) stock to near all-time highs, with shares surging roughly 70% year to date.
TI makes none of the AI compute chips everyone talks about, like Nvidia's (NVDA ) GPUs and Broadcom's (AVGO) custom chips. Instead, it builds **** og and embedded processing chips: power management ICs, voltage regulators, and amplifiers, the unglamorous components that keep electronics running. For decades, this made TI a steady, cyclical industrial semiconductor company, the kind of name that moved with factory orders and auto production.
That's changing. TI's chips sit inside every AI server, regulating and distributing the enormous amounts of power modern GPUs consume. The market has taken notice, rewarding the stock with a forward earnings multiple of roughly 39x, rich for a company historically viewed as a slow-growth cyclical.
An Upcycle, Not A Peak
TI's largest end market, industrial, is still recovering. Industrial revenue grew more than 30% year over year last quarter, marking eight straight quarters of sequential growth, yet the segment remains roughly 15% below its prior peak. That gap matters. A recovering cycle with room left to run supports a higher multiple than a business already at the top of its cycle. Earnings should continue to improve as the recovery unfolds. Management guided second-quarter revenue to $5.0 billion to $5.4 billion, well above **** yst estimates, with growth expected across both industrial and data center markets.

The prospects for electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) companies don't just depend on future orders or regulatory approvals; they also depend on securing their supply chains and ramping up production to meet expectations. That's why investors have reason to be positive about Vertical Aerospace (NYSE: EVTL) after it recently signed a long-term agreement with Astronics for power distribution systems for its Valo eVTOL. Is it enough to make the stock a buy?
Not all eVTOL companies are made equal. While Joby Aviation is pursuing a vertically integrated model and developing its own technology, Boeing's Wisk is also relying on investment and technology from its parent company, and companies like Archer Aviation and Vertical Aerospace are heavily reliant on components from established companies.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
In theory, at least, this should accelerate development and make it easier to ramp up production. That's why every time the U.K.'s Vertical Aerospace signs a long-term supply agreement, it helps de-risk the company's business model. It already has deals in place with Honeywell (flight control and management systems), Hyundai WIA (landing gear), and other specialist aerospace suppliers, with the recent deal adding low-voltage power distribution systems -- a critical part of an eVTOL.
While execution risk has diminished somewhat with the deal, this is still a company burning cash and won't generate earnings until 2032, according to the Wall Street ******* yst consensus from S&P Global Market Intelligence. In other words, the $239 million-market cap company will need cash, which means significant dilution for existing investors is on the way.

July 3 (Reuters) - Largest U.S. power grid operator PJM said ‌on Friday it was under ‌a federal alert to cut electricity consumption across its territory as it battled generator outages, massive overloading on its transmission lines and a surge in air conditioning use ‌from prolonged sweltering heat.
PJM said it told utilities to reduce electricity to customers who are under contract to reduce consumption during emergencies. PJM serves 67 million people in the Mid-Atlantic, South and Washington, ‌D.C., area.
Spot wholesale electricity prices in northern Virginia, home to the largest collection of data centers in the world, have surged beyond $2,000 per megawatt hour this ‌week. That compares to about $40 per MWh when PJM is not in distress.
The surge ‌in prices is mostly because it has become expensive to provide power across congested high-voltage power lines, according to industry ‌analysts and PJM's operations data.

Forget the chips. Forget the code.
The most expensive, in-demand commodity in the entire $3-trillion AI revolution is not a patented algorithm or a new Nvidia GPU.
It's power.
Specifically, a secure, high-voltage connection to the electrical grid that can deliver $100-500 million worth of juice to a new data center.
Right now, the largest, richest companies on Earth—Google, Microsoft, Amazon—are in an unprecedented global land rush for energy.

PG&E Corporation (NYSE:PCG) is one of the undervalued infrastructure stocks to buy now. Two ***** ysts recently trimmed their price targets on the stock, yet the underlying demand story has not gone quiet.
On May 21, 2026, Morgan Stanley lowered its price target on PG&E Corporation (NYSE:PCG) to $22 from $23, keeping an "Equal Weight" rating, as part of a broader update to North American Regulated and Diversified Utilities and IPP targets.
Three days earlier, on May 18, 2026, Truist made the same price target move, cutting to $22 from $23 while keeping a "Buy" rating on PG&E Corporation (NYSE:PCG). The adjustment came as part of a broader model update ahead of the American Gas ***** ociation's Financial Forum. Truist noted the sector is now in year three of the data center wave, with investment and growth expectations continuing to climb. The firm views vertically integrated electric utilities as clear winners in building the infrastructure needed to serve that load growth.
Meanwhile, PG&E Corporation (NYSE:PCG) added a milestone of its own. On June 4, 2026, the company announced it had surpassed 1 million customers with solar systems connected to its electric grid. Jason Glickman, Executive Vice President of Strategy and Growth, said PG&E has enabled more solar adoption than any utility in the country.
PG&E Corporation (NYSE:PCG) sells electricity and natural gas across the U.S. market. The company uses fossil fuel-fired, fuel cells, photovoltaic, nuclear, and hydroelectric sources to generate electricity. It serves residential, commercial, industrial, and agricultural customers, as well as natural gas-fired electricity generation facilities. SHANGHAI, June 5 (Reuters) - China's major solar panel manufacturers are ramping up higher-margin battery exports to boost revenue as growth in photovoltaic (PV) sales slows, betting on rising global demand for renewable energy storage to ‌cut reliance on fossil fuels.
The sector has been hit by weaker domestic installations, slowing exports and record-low prices, with executives ‌expecting global demand to decline in 2026.
That has pushed players including JinkoSolar, JA Solar, LONGi Green Energy and Trina Solar to accelerate expansion into battery storage, company executives told Reuters.
JinkoSolar plans to nearly triple its battery manufacturing capacity from 5 gigawatt-hours (GWh) to 13-14 GWh by the end of this year, as developers seek to address the intermittency of renewables, a company official said at SNEC - a solar industry gathering attended by over half a million people.

A 2,000 year old battery, or just a very interesting pot?
This is the debate that’s been swirling over the fragments of a puzzling artifact discovered in Iraq nearly a century ago. Dubbed the “Baghdad battery,” it’s believed to have originally been a clay jar housing a copper vessel, at the center of which was an iron rod. This arrangement, either by coincidence or design, could’ve allowed it to function as a primitive galvanic cell, some archaeologists argue — a primitive energy storage device pioneered in the Western world by Alessandro Volta, after whom the “volt” was named.
