Roberto De Zerbi held his first press conference ahead of Saturday's Premier League opening match at Brentford. While the press conference was overshadowed slightly by the fresh news that an agreement has been reached with Manchester City for the purchase of Savinho, there was still plenty to talk about in the match.
For starters, as mentioned previously RDZ named the new Tottenham Hotspur leadership group, which includes Micky van de Ven as club captain, along with Pedro Porro, Ben Davies, James Maddison, and Archie Gray as vice captains. But two of that group will not feature tomorrow vs. Brentford — Micky and Porro were both ruled out of contention, as was Pape Matar Sarr.
"Micky is not on the list tomorrow like Pedro Porro. James Maddison is inside [it], Solanke inside, Udogie, Fernandes also. Sarr not because he felt some pain, but nothing big. Kudus is almost ready.
"Today [Micky] worked with us, with the group and he is going very well. He suffered a problem during the pre-season of Australia, I don't know if it was the flight, but not a big problem. We have Senesi, we have Ben Davies and in the right condition to play the game tomorrow."
A lot to unpack there! Spurs have been strangely silent on Micky's absence from preseason, and we all **** umed it was injury related. De Zerbi didn't provide much of an update, but Micky's been in the club socials a LOT lately, and was just named Captain so if there was a major issue we'd probably know about it by now. Sounds like he'll be coming back sooner rather than later. Pedro Porro's absence is likely just fitness related; he only just returned from his post-World Cup break. Sounds like Sarr is just out with a minor knock and the club is being cautious.

GREENVILLE — Hayden Panettiere would have turned 37 today. Instead of celebrating, the focus remains on determining how the actress suddenly died over the weekend while visiting Greenville.
As the coroner's office still works to determine her cause of death, agents with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration have reportedly joined the Greenville Police Department's investigation, several news outlets have reported. The Post and Courier emailed the agency Aug. 21 and received an automated response that said "non-urgent press queries may take up to 48 hours."
The New York Times noted that the DEA has become involved in investigations after other famous people have died suddenly, including the overdose death of Matthew Perry in 2023.
"There's nothing to be shared at this time as the investigation is ongoing, but we are hopeful that justice will be served," a representative of the late actress said in a statement shared with ABC News.
First responders arrived at Judson Mills Lofts in Greenville just before 2 p.m. Aug. 16 for a report of a woman in cardiac arrest inside an apartment. After attempting to resuscitate Panettiere, she was ****** ounced dead at the scene at 2:34 p.m.

Just two hours after its rerelease, the G-Unit x Reebok G6 completely sold out. Twenty-three years after its original release, 50 Cent and Reebok announced they would be bringing the shoe back in its original white, red and blue color scheme on Thursday, and keeping the design the same as the model's victorious 2003 run. While some may be surprised at the high demand the shoe is having two decades later, 50 Cent is not. In a brief email interview with FN, the "Stunt 101" rapper says that the fans' reactions to the shoe is not about nostalgia but more so about the impact it made. He says he knew they had something special from the start. "I knew we had something big," 50 says to FN. "Back then, we were just focused on making noise and doing something that felt different. To see people still excited about it all these years later is crazy. The fans kept it alive. That means a lot to me." 50 has remained a mainstay in pop culture through various business enterprises, his music and his long list of TV projects like the Starz "Power" franchise. Reebok has also stayed in the conversation through a long list

Both AT&T and Verizon sold their customers' real-time location data to aggregators who resold it to almost anyone willing to pay. Both got fined. Both fought back. One of them just ran out of road.
On Aug. 17, the Supreme Court denied Verizon's petition to recover the $47 million it paid the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) over the sale of customer location data, ending the carrier's effort without explanation, according to QZ.
AT&T is in a different position. Its case took a different procedural path and it still has a live shot at recovering the $57 million it paid. That gap matters, and it didn't happen by accident.
The fines go back to April 2024, when the FCC penalized four carriers a combined $196 million for selling customers' location data to aggregators without meaningful consent.
T-Mobile was hit hardest at $80 million. AT&T paid $57 million. Verizon paid $47 million. Sprint paid $12 million.

Ruby Rose is defending her late friend Hayden Panettiere after sharing what she says are private text messages between the two women.
Rose shared screenshots on Threads this week that appear to show a conversation with Panettiere, who died August 16 at age 36. The messages concern Panettiere's relationship with her mother, Lesley Vogel, and surfaced after Vogel spoke publicly about her daughter's death and her concerns about Brian Hickerson.
In one screenshot, a person saved as "Hayden" appeared to describe being deeply hurt by her mother's behavior.
"I was sobbing over her cruelty yesterday thinking, my god I'm 36 and she can still cause this kind of pain," the message reads, according to the screenshots Rose shared.

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner has announced he is pulling out of the upcoming U.S. Open due to a knee injury.
Sinner, last year's U.S. Open runner-up and 2024 champion, said in a social media post that over the past few days he's been doing on-court work, but that he needs more recovery time.
"Even though I have been working hard with my team and my medical staff, we have now had to make the difficult decision that I will not be able to compete at the US Open this year. We have been back on court in Monte Carlo over the last couple of days and have realized that I still need more time to recover from my right knee issue.
"I'm obviously very sad and disappointed, as New York has a special place in my heart. I was very much looking forward to coming back and playing in the electric atmosphere in front of the great fans there."
The 25-year-old Sinner has been out of action since winning Wimbledon last month.

The problem with AI valuations is that infrastructure spending is running far ahead of the revenue available to support it. Goldman Sachs estimates roughly $7.6 trillion in ****** ulative AI capital spending from 2026 through 2031. OpenAI and Anthropic, meanwhile, were generating combined annualized revenue of more than $105 billion by August 2026, which is impressive growth, but still a small base relative to the buildout.
To avoid cataclysmic infrastructure write-downs on hardware with brief 3-to-5-year lifecycles, the industry must scale its annual recurring revenue past $1 trillion by 2030.
Skeptics think the industry is building hardware capacity faster than customers can use it profitably. Under the bear case, the revenue gap eventually reaches hardware suppliers. If enterprise demand fails to fill new capacity, hyperscalers will slow purchases, demand lower prices and move routine workloads to internal chips. Short hardware lifecycles would make even a temporary glut expensive.
Nvidia Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) carries the greatest exposure because its 74.9% quarterly gross margin depends on customers competing for scarce, high-end GPUs. Google's TPUs, Amazon's Trainium and Microsoft's Maia can absorb predictable inference workloads, reducing Nvidia purchases and increasing hyperscalers' bargaining power.
The market still expects Nvidia Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) to retain most of its advantage. The shares traded at 25.64 times forward earnings as of August 17, while 285 elite hedge funds in Insider Monkey's second-quarter database held long positions. Slower orders combined with weaker pricing would hit both earnings expectations and a crowded trade.

The 2026 WNBA season has brought several notable record-breaking showings from players across the league, including Kelsey Mitchell's stellar run of consecutive 20-point games. Angel Reese broke another WNBA single-season record on Thursday night during the Atlanta Dream's 36-point victory over the Los Angeles Sparks. However, the record she broke was actually her own.
With four offensive rebounds in the game, her season tally jumped to 173, surpassing the 172 he totaled during the 2024 WNBA season.
Considering the Dream still has eight games remaining in the regular season, Reece could potentially put that record into a territory that'll make it hard for anyone to top it in the foreseeable future. Considering the previous high-mark before 2004 was held by Yolanda Griffith in the 2001 season, Reese's ability to stay active on the offensive glass is obviously something we haven't seen in the WNBA in the years prior to her arrival.

For decades, Natalie Portman has been one of our most cerebral stars. A 1999 Vanity Fair cover, promoting "The Phantom Menace," asked whether the then-17-year-old might "choose Harvard over Hollywood." She managed to do both, earning an Ivy League degree and an Oscar. Her characters in movies from "Jackie" to "May December" are often overthinkers, and her Instagram book club picks tend toward high literature.
Who better, then, to serve as the heroine of a Rachel Cusk novel?
Cusk, the experimental novelist, is set to publish "Life of M," about an unnamed actress coping with feelings of alienation and depersonalization, on Aug. 25. Cusk's work, like the well-loved "Outline" trilogy, favors deep excavation of inner turmoil over what might be called "plot," and "Life of M" is no exception. Still, the obvious similarities to the known facts of Portman's life have earned the book plenty of buzz.
To wit: M, a former child star who received her greatest acclaim for playing a ballerina, is raising children, seemingly solo, in Paris. All of this checks out, and Portman's putative connection to Cusk — she selected Cusk's last novel, 2024's "Parade," for Natalie's Book Club, and both actress and author live in Paris — lends the enterprise a juicy overlay of gossip.
There's no public information indicating Portman's involvement in the project, or whether she approved it at all. (Portman's rep and the book's publicist at Farrar, Straus and Giroux did not respond to requests for comment.) And if people are reading "Life of M" as a document of truth, it may be in part because the novel so confidently places its reader within restricted access zones. We see M through the eyes of a narrator, an unnamed person who has obtained M's permission to document her life. And so we accompany M to a spa, where she and a younger actress chitchat about their peers and discuss Hollywood's gender pay gap, and to an interview at a chic restaurant, where she observes strangers snapping her picture. The access Cusk grants extends deep into M's mind as well: With her friend, M ponders how she might help a new generation of actresses despite her own "ennui" about the industry; with the journalist interviewing her, M is burdened "by the impossibility of anyone ever understanding what she is."
The project of this book is to help us to know a person who rejects examination, just as journalists have struggled to crack Portman, who avoids discussing her personal life in interviews. "Life of M" is not the sort of novel that one can "spoil," but suffice it to say that M ultimately makes her displeasure at the narrator's project plain: Being under a writer's gaze is, for her, intolerable. M comes by this aversion to fame honestly. We're informed that "starring in a film as a child had immediately brought her childhood to an end," and that press coverage of her entanglements as an adult have strained her relationship with her family. Good morning. Stocks traded in the green at the open on Friday but were still pacing for weekly losses after this week's bond market intrigue. A rally in bitcoin (BTC-USD) lifted crypto stocks, while defensive names lagged.
Here's a check of the markets in the first few minutes of trading, based on a heat map powered by Yahoo Finance AlphaSpace data.
Stocks were broadly green, with the exception of Utilities (XLU). The Basic Materials (XLB) sector was the morning's leader as commodities like copper (HG=F) and gold (GC=F) rose. Financial stocks (XLF) also saw strength, propelled by gains in Robinhood (HOOD) and Coinbase (COIN) stocks.
Here are some notable stocks that Yahoo Finance readers are viewing this morning: Strategy (MSTR), SK Hynix (SKHY), Coinbase, Circle (CRCL), Alibaba (BABA), Robinhood, Freeport-McMoRan (FCX)

Jenna Ortega is one of the biggest stars in Hollywood right now, and a lot of that fame is thanks to her big Netflix hit, Wednesday. The 23-year-old recently reflected on the moment she realized the series would be life-changing, and whoa, what a story!
Wednesday first became available to stream with a Netflix subscription the day before Thanksgiving in 2022. And it still holds the record for the streaming service's biggest English-language series debut ever, almost four years later. Here's how Ortega knew the show was going to change her life:
It really was overnight. I think it was on Thanksgiving and I was on a walk with my nephew and some lady did some illegal behind-the-wheel work to get around so that I would take a photo with her daughter. And, they were like screaming from their car and I was wearing sweats and no makeup. The show had come out maybe a day or two before.

Denver Broncos cornerback Riley Moss is not planning on being any less aggressive in what could be a make-or-break season for the fourth-year defender.
Moss has never been shy about attacking the football during his time with the Broncos. In fact, he's had to do it more out of necessity after starting opposite of 2024 Defensive Player of the Year Pat Surtain. Moss was penalized 10 times in 2025; sometimes it was correct, and sometimes it seemed like Moss was unfairly targeted. After an offseason of intense training, Moss is ready to prove his worth.
"My parents have always told me this, I like to learn the hard way," Moss said in early August. "It actually helps me out in those situations because, yes, they're going to throw the flag because I'm being too aggressive, but even 'VJ' (defensive coordinator Vance Joseph) will tell me, 'Keep going out there. Keep playing aggressive.' It happens."
To his credit, Moss has had a tremendous training camp, breaking up passes all over the field. Moss has consistently been listed by Denver media as a standout at practice. In Week 1 of the preseason against the Atlanta Falcons, Moss even picked off a pass, which many see as proof of a big year in the making. "I know I need to do better as a whole this season," Moss admitted. "It's been a big focus of this camp. I'm still going to play aggressive and not shy away from it."
Coach Sean Payton also doesn't think that Moss should shed the aggressive nature of his play, even with the penalty troubles Moss encountered in 2025. "There were some tough calls against him as well that I think go with the position," Payton said. "He certainly doesn't back away from that, and I think that's important, especially at that position."

Robin Williams' children found a new way to honor their late father. Zak, Cody, and Zelda Williams revived his Instagram account on August 17. The move came shortly after what would have been the beloved actor's 75th birthday.
The siblings explained that the account would help preserve their father's work and memories. They wanted fans to have a reliable place for authentic material about Williams. "As technology evolves, we want this to be a safe, trusted place," the siblings wrote. They said, "the stories, photos, videos and memories shared reflect his legacy with authenticity, warmth, and care."
The family noted that younger generations continued discovering Robin's work. Longtime fans still celebrated the joy he brought them. His children wanted the account to connect both groups through memories.
"This is our way of sharing his unique talent and humor with the world," they added. They also highlighted moments that made their family and fans laugh. The siblings said the account would feature stories, photos, videos, and memories. They hoped those materials would represent their father honestly for generations.
Their decision came years after Robin's death, when his children continued remembering him publicly. Their tributes have kept his presence close while celebrating the person behind his career.

Last weekend, Pierce Brosnan, 73, and his wife, Keely Shaye Smith, 62, went sightseeing in Sydney, having just celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. Their relationship has proven to be one of Hollywood's most enduring and life-affirming love stories.
They met in 1994 when she was a journalist, two and a half years after Pierce lost his first wife, Cassandra Harris, to ovarian cancer (tragically, Cassandra's daughter Charlotte, who he adopted, died from the same disease). Pierce and Keely married in 2001 at the historic Ballintubber Abbey in Ireland and have been inseparable ever since.
The couple in Sydney last weekend having just celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary - Splash News
In a 2018 interview with Closer, Pierce said: "I had a great marriage which sadly had its own ending, and I was lucky enough to find love again. We were meant to find each other. I thank God for her every day." Continuing, "I found a great woman in Keely. Not if I searched a million times over would I find one as good." Keely is equally and openly devoted, posting heartfelt messages on social media every anniversary.
In archive pictures, a natural-not-theatrical closeness was always in evidence. They were sartorially in sync too. Still are. For a Sydney harbour boat trip and dinner, they mirrored a vibe of "quiet luxury", he in a smart jacket with black jeans and a dapper cravat, she in elegant head-to-toe beige. In short, they sport what's called "couple's style".

Memory chip stocks have been some of the biggest winners of 2026, and most investors who missed the run ****** ume they are already too late.
Jim Cramer disagrees.
On CNBC's "Mad Money" this week, the host argued that four memory and storage companies still have room to climb, even after gains that would normally make him cautious.
His reasoning centers on a claim that the industry's decades-long cycle of shortage followed by collapse may no longer apply
That is a bold position, and it deserves a close look before anyone acts on it.

A distinct operational evolution has arrived for the Pittsburgh Steelers under head coach Mike McCarthy. Beyond installing his West Coast offensive framework, McCarthy is systematically restoring veteran command, empowering his quarterback with pre-snap freedom that recent Pittsburgh offenses largely lacked.
On a recent episode of "The Snap Count" podcast, former Steelers quarterback Charlie Batch and offensive lineman Trai Essex examined how this philosophical shift directly elevates signal-callers on gameday.
"When you look at Mike McCarthy's history, he's always given his veteran quarterbacks the keys to the drive," Batch explained. "In Pittsburgh, we've seen periods where the pre-snap process was overly rigid. Giving an experienced quarterback full autonomy to audit protection, check out of bad looks, and manage the clock changes the entire defense's approach."
Rather than forcing the offense to execute fixed calls regardless of defensive alignments, McCarthy's system relies on dynamic line-of-scrimmage reads. The quarterback retains full authority to flip plays, adjust protection schemes, or call audibles based on safety rotations and front-seven looks.
Essex highlighted how this veteran command instills confidence across the entire offensive line.

Ruby Rose is sharing a deeply personal glimpse into what she says was Hayden Panettiere's private pain before the actress died at 36. Rose posted screenshots of text messages she says came from Panettiere, with the exchanges focusing in part on the difficult relationship Panettiere had publicly described with her estranged mother, Lesley Vogel.
One screenshot showed a contact saved as "Hayden" telling Rose that she had been crying over her mother's alleged cruelty. "My god I'm 36 and she can still cause this kind of pain," the message read, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Entertainment Weekly said it could not independently verify the identity of the person messaging Rose. The outlet had contacted Rose's team for more information and Vogel for comment when its report was published.
The content nevertheless echoes comments Panettiere made publicly before her death about her relationship with Vogel. In one of her most candid interviews earlier this year, she described ending their professional partnership at 19 because she wanted the woman who had managed her career to simply become her mother again.

Something metallic turned up under a garden in a quiet Tallinn suburb in 1969, and the Soviets spent the next twenty years trying to get it out, bringing in excavators and scientists and military, borrowing the house from its owners and living in it, digging on and off until perestroika ended the whole effort and they walked away. Astrophysicist Dr. Beatriz Villarroel and Ocean X co-founder Dennis Åsberg went to that address to find out what is still down there. ****** ody came to the door, but the neighbor who had watched all of it from his window talked to them for an hour.
This is their full conversation with Ross Coulthart, recorded for "Secret Soviet UFOs" and running well past what the special had room for. Villarroel walks through the peer-reviewed work that brought her to Estonia, highly reflective objects photographed in orbit years before anyone on Earth had launched a satellite, and why she thinks the same search belongs in the ground. Åsberg ties Merivälja to the Baltic Sea anomaly his team found on sonar roughly 300 kilometers away and argues that both could predate the last ice age. Between them, they count five European cases and will not give up the coordinates of one of them. What ****** ody can answer yet is what sits under that garden, and the only thing that would settle it is ground-penetrating radar in the yard of a man who has already told them no.

Sandra Bullock is opening up about a side of grief that many people experience but rarely discuss: mourning someone before they are gone.
Bryan Randall, her longtime partner, died on August 5, 2023, at age 57 after a private three-year battle with ALS, a progressive disease that affects the nerve cells responsible for muscle movement.
But according to Bullock, the hardest goodbye did not happen on the day he died. It began years earlier, when she was still sharing life with him while slowly losing pieces of the person she knew.
Randall was a photographer and former model who began dating Bullock in 2015. His family later confirmed that he chose to keep his ALS diagnosis private, and Bullock honored that decision.
What she has chosen to share now is not about revealing details of his illness. It is about explaining what it feels like to lose someone in stages.

It's been more than four years since the launch of LIV Golf rocked the game.
A brash breakaway league, bankrolled by Saudi Arabian billions, luring top players with promises of big money.
Still it divides opinion in golf, and has split the loyalty of its champions.
But it could all come to an end soon.
After the League's Saudi backers pulled its funding - having spent more than $5bn (£3.6bn) - this week's abortive season finale could be the end.

Going back two seasons, Liverpool had one of the best squads in Europe. On paper, a lot of talent remains. Yet even accepting many players individually and collectively under-performed last season, the squad today looks well short of what Liverpool fans expected it to be at this stage.
Lacking depth and wildly imbalanced in places, with the season kicking off against Newcastle on Sunday and work still to be done in the transfer market, there's plenty of concern and consternation amongst the fanbase. New head coach Andoni Iraola, though, says that signings are coming.
"We will definitely sign some players," Iraola told Sky ahead of the opening round of the Premier League season. "Some deals you have to wait until the end, but the end is the important part of the picture, the one we will have on September first, because it is true that we are still quite thin."
In the past, Liverpool managers have tended not to explicitly say signings are coming, tending to stick to more vague promises about the club always looking for opportunities to improve and similar. The question then is if a shift in how potential transfers get discussed is just how Iraola communicates.
Alternately, it could be an acceptance of the trust gap that has begun to grow between fanbase and club watching so many of the gains of the Klopp era seeming to have been taken apart—at times almost consciously so—since Michael Edwards returned and named Richard Hughes sporting director.

Caitlin Clark's surprise defensive highlight sends Fever fans into frenzy originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Caitlin Clark endured one of her most difficult offensive performances of the season Thursday, but the Indiana Fever star still found a way to produce one of the night's most memorable highlights. Clark finished with 10 points on 4-of-15 shooting as the Fever suffered a 91-85 road loss to the Dallas Wings. The defeat snapped Indiana's five-game winning streak and dropped the team to 24-13.
The two-time All-Star was unable to find a consistent scoring rhythm, but she contributed four rebounds, nine ****** ists, one steal and one block. That lone rejection quickly attracted attention after the Fever shared a slow-motion replay of it.
"Caitlin Clark sends it back," Indiana wrote on Instagram.
The play unfolded midway through the second quarter when Arike Ogunbowale found Maddy Siegrist moving toward the basket. Siegrist appeared to have a favorable matchup. The Wings forward stands 6-foot-2, while Clark is a 6-foot guard who is known far more for her scoring and passing than her shot-blocking ability.
