Sydney Sweeney has been busy. A lot of it you get to see; HBO ended Euphoria with a third and final stranglehold on the timeline, and word recently hit that Netflix's live-action Gundam, which Sweeney stars in alongside Noah Centineo and an ensemble cast, wrapped filming in Australia. And while we have no doubt that you've seen her the new "Just Sports" campaign she has launched with Novig—the first campaign from the 21+ sports prediction market—what you don't see is the work that Sweeney puts into projects like this, where she isn't just the face on the brand; she's an equity partner, putting together pieces of this campaign while away in Australia filming Gundam.
"Because I've been a part of the creative conversations from the very beginning," Sweeney shared with Complex via phone, "I had built an amazing relationship with everyone involved, and I was really excited to get to set."
"It can be kind of isolating when you're away for that long," Sweeney continued, "so being able to have my entire glam team come down, and my team who I've been with for almost a decade—they're like my family—it was really exciting to be able to see them again."
COMPLEX SHOP: Shop the brands you love, anytime and anywhere. Uncover what's next. Buy. Collect. Obsess.
Sweeney calls the "Just Sports" campaign "a very simple and playful idea," aimed to "really bring the concept of 'just sports' to life," and the spot really does get to the heart of what Novig is all about. Novig's vision is truly just sports, with "a marketplace designed around transparency and efficiency" that is built by sports traders, for sports traders. Sweeney says that this was a true collaboration.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Canada might seem an unlikely target for a U.S. trade war.
No country on Earth buys as much from the United States as its northern neighbor. For American farmers, Canada is second only to Mexico as an export market.
A North American trade pact — negotiated by President Donald Trump during his first term — means that most American products enter Canada duty-free. Rankings of the world's most open economies usually put Canada near the top.
But when Trump looks at Canada, he says, he sees a predator out to cheat the United States and strangle its industries.
America has been "ripped off for 50 years by Canada," the president declared Saturday when asked if he was considering pulling out of the three-way agreement he signed with the leaders of Canada and Mexico in late 2018.

Rep. Brandon Gill (R-Texas) said he has no sympathy for Lindsay Clancy after her murder trial ended in a mistrial, rejecting the defense's argument that severe mental illness left her not criminally responsible for killing her three children.
"I don't have an ounce of sympathy for Lindsay Clancy," Gill said Friday on Fox News's "The Will Cain Show."
"I have an enormous amount of sympathy for the three little innocent kids who were slaughtered," he said earlier.
Gill went on to push back against the central argument of Clancy's defense: that she was experiencing postpartum psychosis when she strangled her three children — Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months — at the family's Massachusetts home in 2023.
"You don't get licensed to murder your children or anybody else just because you have mental health problems," Gill said. "We've gotten in a habit of medicalizing evil."

Smriti Mandhana's record-breaking 124 and a clinical bowling effort helped India crush Hong Kong by 137 runs in their Women's Asia Cup 2026 clash in Dubai. After posting 193/5, India bowled Hong Kong out for just 56 in 16.2 overs to seal a massive win and book their place in the semi-finals.
Hong Kong won the toss and elected to field, but Mandhana quickly put their decision under pressure. The India opener and Shafali Verma gave their side a strong start, with Verma smashing 28 off 17 ***** before departing.
Wickets began to fall regularly after the opening stand, but Mandhana continued to attack from one end. She reached her half-century in 40 ***** before dramatically increasing the tempo, bringing up her century in just 57 deliveries.
Mandhana finished with a sensational 124 off 64 ***** , hitting 14 fours and seven sixes at a strike rate of 193.75. The innings took her to 18 international centuries, moving her past Meg Lanning's tally of 17 and making her the leading century-maker in women's international cricket.
She also broke Chamari Athapaththu's record for the highest individual score in Women's T20 Asia Cup history, surpassing the Sri Lankan's unbeaten 119.
Mandhana's innings eventually ended in the final over when she was run out after a mix-up with Bharti Fulmali. Her dismissal, however, came after she had already powered India to a formidable 193/5.
Hong Kong's chase never got going as India's spin-heavy attack strangled the batting lineup from the beginning. They slipped to 32/3 and struggled to score freely against India's disciplined bowling.
Deepti Sharma led the attack with 3/9 from three overs, removing key batters Natasha Miles and Yasmin Daswani while keeping the scoring rate under control. Prema Rawat, Nandani Sharma and Shree Charani then continued to chip away at the Hong Kong batting order.
Marina Lamplough offered some resistance with 14, but Shree Charani eventually removed her before the lower order folded quickly. Nandani Sharma claimed two wickets, while Prema Rawat finished with two as India's spinners kept the pressure on.
Hong Kong were eventually bowled out for just 56 in 16.2 overs. Shree Charani completed the victory by stumping Shanzeen Shahzad after a sharp piece of work from Richa Ghosh.

LONDON, Sep 2 (Reuters) - The United States launched a new wave of attacks on Iran late on Tuesday six months into a deadlocked conflict, prompting Iranian missile fire at what it called U.S. ****** ets in Jordan, Bahrain, Kuwait and Iraq.
Here are other ways Iran might retaliate if the conflict continues to escalate or a U.S. campaign to choke off Iran's economy intensifies.
IRAN COULD EXPAND ATTACKS ON GULF STATES
Iran has repeatedly struck at its neighbours in response to U.S. attacks and threatened to retaliate against any who take part in U.S. efforts to strangle the country's economy with "earthquake" force.
It has targeted Gulf states and Jordan repeatedly since the war began on February 28, mostly focusing on U.S. bases but also hitting energy infrastructure and other targets.

Starbucks (SBUX) is currently trading with a very low implied volatility rank which means options on the coffeehouse chain are cheap compared to the last 12 months. That could mean it's a good time to look at a breakout trade such as a long strangle. A long strangle is constructed through buying an out-of-the-money call and an out-of-the-money put. The…

After a joint practice with the Tennessee ******* ans there's still no clarity for the San Francisco 49ers on their left guard battle according to 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan.
Shanahan on Tuesday spoke with reporters after the 49ers wrapped up their joint practice with the ******* ans and indicated that nothing changed in the race for the fifth and final starting spot on San Francisco's offensive line. Entering practice it was veteran Robert Jones and second-year player Connor Colby who were the presumed frontrunners at the position with rookie Carver Willis potentially making his way into the mix. That was where Shanahan said things still stood after practice.
"I think it's too early to say," Shanahan said. "There definitely is a battle there. It's open for anybody. Those guys would probably be the lead at it. Love to get Carver in that, too. Him missing a week or whatever it was with his concussion made him out of it a little bit, but he's been out two practices in a row. It's still early. We want to see those guys in the games, too, but it's definitely a battle for us to see who gets that spot."
There's a distinct difference between an open battle with multiple good players and one hasn't been able to separate themselves, and an open battle with multiple players who aren't good enough to step into the vacancy. Colby and Jones have had some issues with the starting group, and now Shanahan is potentially resting the team's hopes on a fifth-round draft pick who is changing positions after playing offensive tackle in college.
San Francisco won't need to nail down a definite starter until Week 1, but the fact they're inside of a month to go until their regular season opener and the coaching staff is still awaiting a player to put a stranglehold on the starting LG job is not a great sign entering their preseason opener.

WNBA MVP race rankings: A'ja Wilson vs. Olivia Miles debate is on with Caitlin Clark, Paige Bueckers lurking originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Award season is fast approaching in the WNBA. With a little more than one month left in the season, now is the time for the league's greatest talents to play for the sport's finest pieces of hardware.
No accolade glistens as brightly as the MVP. A'ja Wilson has had something of a stranglehold on the prize in recent years, capturing four in the past six years. A fifth looks on the horizon, although she's facing strong competition from a handful of notable youngsters, namely Olivia Miles and Caitlin Clark.
Recent history tells us that MVP races can be difficult to predict. Wilson beat Breanna Stewart by eight first-place votes in 2022. Stewart won the award in 2023 despite earning fewer first-place votes than Alyssa Thomas, while Wilson stormed away with the prize after a late-season surge last year. While the calendar is shrinking, votes haven't yet been cast. Surprises could be on the way, especially if someone further down the rankings makes a splash.
With that, here's a look at what the MVP ladder looks like heading into the stretch run.

Patrick Clancy, the father of three young children strangled inside their Massachusetts home, became the first witness Monday in his ex-wife's murder trial, offering jurors a harrowing account of the mental health decline he witnessed before their deaths.
He was the first witness called in the trial of Lindsay Clancy, who faces murder charges in the deaths of the couple's three children in January 2023. Prosecutors argue she acted deliberately, while defense attorneys contend severe mental illness drove her actions.
Patrick described watching his then-wife fall into a "big spiral" after she began taking Seroquel, testifying that she lost weight, became severely depressed and began expressing suicidal thoughts.
"Awful," he said when asked how Lindsay was doing physically after starting the medication. "That was really where her big spiral started. She started to lose a lot of weight, and she became very depressed, and she was having a really hard time."

Big-box retailer Walmart (WMT) has been one of the more disappointing tickers in the market and for arguably obvious reasons. With a spiraling Iran conflict that could potentially worsen, WMT stock faces serious technical pressure. As headwinds in both the energy and consumer markets apply stress to the retail industry, WMT has been on the wrong side of equity transactions.
In the trailing month, Walmart stock has declined by nearly 6%, bringing its year-to-date performance to 1% below parity. Subsequently, the Barchart Technical Opinion indicator rates the ticker as a 72% Strong Sell, with traders seemingly concerned about signs of consumer fatigue that are not adequately balanced out by the trade-down effect.

Spain has been dreadfully boring for most of this World Cup.
At times, there was a lack of urgency. At others, a lack of creativity. However, at no point did the squad lack talent or skill and Luis de la Fuente knew exactly when he needed to let his boys loose.
Against France, Spain followed De La Fuente’s game plan and choked out France’s incredible attacking group. Dominant in the midfield, Spain strangled the imagination from France by not giving Michael Olise an inch to work with — so much so that the Bayern Munich star retreated to the wide areas.
Rodri and Fabián Ruiz were stellar in controlling the tempo of the match and seemingly being in every passing lane that France tried to use.
Aside of taking Olise out of the game, Pau Cubarsi (the best young player of this tournament bar none), Aymeric Laporte, Marc Cucurella, and Pedro Porro made life ******* for Kylian Mbappé, who lost more of his swagger by the minute in the game. Mbappé seemed to get more befuddled by what was going on and seemed to not accept that his team was being beaten…soundly.

After five years, Conor McGregor finally returned to action opposite old rival Max Holloway earlier tonight (Sat., July 11, 2026) at UFC 329 LIVE on Paramount+ from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Sadly, McGregor injured himself almost immediately with a flying high kick, resulting in an immediate injury loss.
Seriously.
In addition to the Welterweight headliner, UFC 329 fortunately featured a very deep card full of familiar faces, a whole bunch of vicious finishes, and a couple back-and-forth wars. Check out some of the key moments below and let us know which performances stand out the most!
Paddy Pimblett wasted no time and choked out Benoit Saint-Denis in the opening minute of their highly-anticipated Lightweight clash.
Brandon Royval and Lone’er Kavanagh went to war in a ******* brawl filled with momentum shifts right up until Royval strangled his opponent in the third round.

Something has to give at SoFi Stadium Friday.
Spain and Belgium meet in a World Cup quarterfinal at 3 p.m. ET in Inglewood, California, with the winner moving on to face France in Tuesday's semifinal in Arlington, Texas.
Nobody has scored on Spain in five games. Goalkeeper Unai Simon's 609 scoreless minutes are a World Cup record, and the 2010 champion has strangled its way through the bracket, rolling Austria 3-0 before Mikel Merino's stoppage-time goal sneaked Spain past Portugal 1-0 in the round of 16.

For a second straight offseason, the Pittsburgh Steelers have attempted to rebuild their wide receiver depth chart. The passing offense underwhelmed in 2025 despite the addition of quarterback Aaron Rodger and wide receiver DK Metcalf. So now, with Mike McCarthy at head coach, more help was added to add some spark to the passing game. With training camp less than a month away, let's take a closer look at the Steelers top receivers.
Metcalf was given a No. 1 wide receiver contract last season but he didn't play like one. In fact, throughout his career, Metcalf has been a borderline No. 1 with only two 1,000-yard seasons in seven years. In fairness, Metcalf was held back by Mike Tomlin's offense and the lack of production around him in 2025, so expectations are high.
The big offseason addition was the trade for Michael Pittman Jr. Like Metcalf, Pittman has never been a true No. 1 receiver and always had slightly less production than that of a true top receiver. Also, like Metcalf, Pittman Jr. only has two 1,000-yard seasons on his resume in six years.
Wilson's first two years in the NFL have been a wash and 2026 might be the last shot for him to impress. He's got a clean slate with McCarthy and he's working hard this offseason, hoping to hold off the rookie Germie Bernard to be the team's starting slot receiver.
Bernard was the Steelers second-round pick in the 2026 NFL draft and he brings a diverse skill set that includes playing running back and H-back in addition to multiple spots at wide receiver. Bernard had a strong minicamp and seems to have a stranglehold on the No. 3 receiver spot this year.

NEW DELHI: India tightened their stranglehold on the one-off Test against Afghanistan on Monday, but the biggest talking point during the morning session came from yet another Decision Review System (DRS) blunder by the visitors and the animated scenes that followed near their dugout.
Resuming Day Three on 113 for five, Afghanistan folded for 152, conceding a massive 412-run first-innings lead as debutant left-arm spinner Manav Suthar completed a dream outing with figures of 6 for 33 in 22 overs. India, who had declared their first innings at 564 for eight, wasted little time in enforcing the follow-on.
The drama unfolded in the 58th over when Suthar trapped No. 10 batter Mohammad Saleem Safi in front. On-field umpire Richard Illingworth raised his finger immediately, and Safi initially appeared keen to challenge the decision.
However, in a bizarre turn of events, the left-hander started walking back to the pavilion without taking the review. Moments later, confusion gave way to visible frustration near the Afghanistan boundary line as Safi was seen having an animated exchange with teammates and support staff close to the dugout.
Television cameras captured discussions that suggested questions were being asked over why the batter had not opted for DRS despite appearing interested in doing so.
The replay only added to Afghanistan's agony.
Ball-tracking later revealed that the delivery had pitched outside leg stump, meaning the on-field decision would have been overturned had Safi reviewed it. While the impact was in front of the stumps, the point of pitching made the dismissal incorrect, handing Suthar a slice of fortune and Afghanistan another painful DRS lesson.
The dismissal gave Suthar his sixth wicket and capped a memorable debut performance for the 23-year-old. The left-arm spinner ripped through the lower order as Afghanistan added only 39 runs to their overnight score.
With the visitors dismissed for 152, India enforced the follow-on and maintained complete control of the contest.

TimesofIndia.com in Mullanpur: The challenge before KL Rahul and Sai Sudharsan was not Afghanistan's bowling attack. It was the transition from two months of relentless T20 cricket back to the demands of Test cricket. One had to rediscover patience after a prolific IPL campaign, while the other had to justify the faith placed in him by the team management. By stumps on Day 1, both had passed their respective tests. Rahul ground his way to a hard-fought century, and Sai produced a fluent 81 as India took control of the one-off Test.
For three straight days in the lead-up, KL Rahul spent hours at the nets under the sweltering sun. Even a day before the Test, when training was optional, only three batters turned up: KL Rahul was one of them. Throughout those sessions, one thing stood out: Rahul was trying to play closer to his body and shed the habits of T20 batting. However, unlike most of his teammates, the turnaround was not as abrupt for 34-year-old. Delhi Capitals played their last league game on May 17, more than two weeks before India's Test squad ******* embled in Chandigarh.
But red-ball cricket brings its own challenges, especially after two months of non-stop T20 cricket.
At the start of his innings, Rahul looked rusty. Credit to Afghanistan's new-ball bowlers, Ziaur Rahman Sharifi and Azmatullah Omarzai, who made the most of whatever little there was to extract from the surface. The duo bowled a disciplined length and asked probing questions of both Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rahul.
Jaiswal was put down by Abdul Malik at gully when the left-hander was on 11 off Omarzai's bowling. However, he failed to make the most of the reprieve before Saleem Safi strangled him down the leg side.
Rahul struggled for timing through most of the opening session but managed to survive. His frustration was visible as he searched for rhythm. The muscle memory of attacking cricket briefly took over and, in an attempt to break the shackles, he tried a back-foot cut off Ziaur Rahman. There was a definite nick. Rahmanullah Gurbaz, standing at second slip, was convinced, but failed to persuade captain Hashmatullah Shahidi, who decided against taking the DRS.
Barring that gift, Rahul looked solid. Afghanistan's bowlers kept probing and their spinners extracted some bounce as well. Once the early moisture disappeared, Rahul looked increasingly comfortable against spin. Soon after the lunch break, he completed his half-century following an 86-ball grind.
Rahul found an able partner in Sai Sudharsan at the other end. The pair added 139 runs for the second wicket.
If Rahul looked rusty, Sudharsan, who was preferred ahead of Devdutt Padikkal, made the most of his opportunity with a polished 81. On the eve of the Test, Gautam Gambhir had said that Sai would get a "longer rope" and that the management had complete faith in him to succeed at No. 3.
Sai got off to a brisk start with a couple of crisp flicks but was dropped twice, on 18 and 59.

A week before the Badenoch derby MacTavish Cup final, both finalists secured Mowi Premiership victories to strengthen their stranglehold at the top of the table.
Newtonmore edged it 2-1 at Fort William while Kingussie overwhelmed Oban Camanachd 7-0 at Mossfield.
Newly-promoted Col Glen registered their first ever Premiership points and victory when they overcame Lochaber 4-2 at Clachan of Glendaruel to exit the relegation zone. They are replaced by Skye, who went down 2-1 to Kinlochshiel in Portree.
However, Kyles remain bottom and pointless following a 2-1 defeat by Caberfeidh at Tighnabruich.
Brodie MacBean netted early in both halves to maintain Newtonmore's six-point lead despite a Victor Smith penalty for Fort.

Weeks 15 and 18 of the NFL season will see the renewal of a recently heated rivalry between the New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Saints will travel to Tampa Bay on Sunday, Dec. 20. They'll host the Buccaneers in the regular season finale on either Jan. 9 or Jan. 10. Each team is hoping that 2026 brings them a return to the postseason.
New Orleans hasn't been to the playoffs since 2020, when a divisional round loss at home to Tampa Bay ended their season. However, the Saints come into 2026 with increased optimism despite a 6-11 record last year thanks to the promise of quarterback Tyler Shough and several new additions on offense. The Buccaneers finished last season at 8-9, snapping a streak of five consecutive years with a postseason berth. Tampa Bay may be a team in transition, especially after watching franchise legends like Lavonte David and Mike Evans along with other key veterans depart this offseason.
Prior to last season, the last eight NFC South championships belonged to either the Saints or Buccaneers. Over that span, their two showdowns usually determined the fate of the division. Until the last three seasons, New Orleans had a firm stranglehold on this series. Here's a look back at some of the numbers.
Overall: 41-28
Home: 21-17

Adult model Drake Von is in hot water with law enforcement.
With millions of followers and plenty of GayVN Awards to his name, the 23-year-old star is now facing a few hefty charges after allegedly trying to strangle his partner in his Las Vegas home.
According to court records obtained by TMZ, Von was arrested on Tuesday and charged with two felonies. The first is domestic battery by strangulation and the second is coercion constituting domestic violence with threat or use of physical force. He was also charged with misdemeanor domestic battery.
The charges come after Von's reality TV debut on OUTtv's Ultimate Boys Trip alongside Joey Mills, Max Konnor, and other notable gay adult stars. In the show, violence is depicted as Mills and Von have beef in the series.
However, this isn't the first time Mills and Von have filmed together. In fact, Mills and Von have collaborated on steamy adult scenes in the past.

Tourism was once an 'economic locomotive' in Cuba. Now, the train is coming off...
For decades, Cuba's tourism sector has enjoyed a reputation as an "economic locomotive" — a term used by authorities who saw it as the lifeblood of the Caribbean island country's economy.
