July 28 (Reuters) - Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said on Tuesday he called his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araqchi, following Iran's ‌denunciation of a Ukrainian drone attack on one of its ‌ships, warned him against escalation and told him to end all support for Russia.
"I emphasised the necessity to refrain from any escalatory steps, as well as to end any support for Russia's war against Ukraine. This war is illegal and it must end," Sybiha wrote on X of his ‌conversation with Araqchi.
Araqchi confirmed on X that he had been ***** ured by Sybiha that the attack on the Iranian ship was unintentional and that Kyiv did not seek escalation.
"Iran does not seek escalation either, but made clear any attack on our citizens or interests is unacceptable. There must be restitution for losses," Araqchi said.
Araqchi had said on Sunday ‌that the Ukrainian attack on the Iranian commercial vessel in the Caspian Sea, which killed one sailor and injured another, could not go unanswered.

Homeownership is something many people aspire to and, in fact, 56% of adults describe owning your own property as a key part of the American Dream. Yet, many are struggling to buy a home of their own thanks to rising costs of both homes and mortgages.
But, what if you didn't buy a home but inherited one instead? For some, this may seem like a dream come true — but that's not the case in every situation. Let's pretend, for example, that Mika's grandmother, Enid, owns Mika's childhood home and wants Mika to inherit it.

There are a lot of tools to help you save for retirement: from personal savings to workplace plans to brokerage accounts. For many Americans, putting money aside in an individual retirement account (IRA) is part of their long-term savings strategy.
A Roth IRA can be particularly appealing: Since you contribute after-tax dollars, your withdrawals in retirement are tax-free. Plus, your investments grow tax-free, too.

For many retirees, selling the family home makes a lot of sense. They don't need three or four bedrooms anymore, or they don't want the hassle of maintaining a large property. Maybe stairs have become impractical. Or maybe they want to relocate in their golden years.
After all, empty-nest baby boomers own 28% of the nation's large homes, according to a report from Redfin.

Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jörgensen (24) could be on his way to join BlueCo-owned Ligue 1 side RC Strasbourg, as reported by Dernières Nouvelles d'Alsace. The Denmark international could be the third Chelsea goalkeeper to join the Alsatians in three seasons, following in the footsteps of Djordje Petrovic and Mike Penders. The outlet understands that Jörgensen is expected to link up with Strasbourg in the next hours after initial talks with Strasbourg head coach Hugo Oliveira.
Oliveira, a former goalkeeping coach turned manager, emphasised the importance of a goalkeeper being heavily involved in build-up play. Jörgensen joined Chelsea from Villarreal two years ago. Those last campaigns, he was mainly Robert Sanchez's understudy at Stamford Bridge. The Sweden-born Denmark international featured 36 times for Chelsea in all competitions.
Dernières Nouvelles d'Alsace understands that a loan move is in the works, but no agreement has been reached yet.

Chennai: As India look to usher in a new generation of fast bowlers, Australian great Glenn McGrath believes Prasidh Krishna has all the ingredients to become Jasprit ****** rah's long-term pace partner.

The legendary fast bowler, who is the director of coaching at the MRF Pace Foundation, has closely followed Prasidh's rise and feels the tall Karnataka seamer has transformed his potential into performances.

"I'm a big fan of Prasidh," McGrath said. "If he gets his length right, he's got everything going for him."

"He has really matured. He's tall, bowls in good areas, generates bounce and has genuine pace. Occasionally he's a little short, but apart from that, I think he's the whole package. He's really developed and put his potential into performance," he said.

India have handed opportunities to several young quicks during the recent tours of the UK and Zimbabwe as they prepare for a demanding cycle of white-ball cricket, with the ODI and T20 World Cups to be played in South Africa and Australia-New Zealand respectively. It means India will need a strong pace attack firing on all cylinders, and McGrath believes the transition phase they are going through will not be easy.

"You've got ****** rah, who's a class bowler, and Mohammed Shami, who's world-class as well. Mohammed Siraj has been around for a long time too. You can't just expect to pick up straight where you left off. It's always going to be a transitional period," he said, referring to the Australian team, which will also go through a similar phase.

"Other than Pat ****** mins, Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc, hardly anybody gets a chance... So it's not going to be easy for Australia either."

McGrath also pointed out that ****** rah's unconventional action demands careful workload management.

"The way he powers through those last few steps probably puts more stress on his body than most bowlers. It'll be interesting to see how he manages himself," McGrath said.

While India appear keen to fast-track younger bowlers, McGrath insisted experienced pacers still have an important role to play.

"It's always good to have experience there. Young bowlers learn by playing alongside senior guys. I was fortunate to watch Craig McDermott and Merv Hughes. That's where you really learn. I'd always pick an experienced team over a potential team," he said.

On whether veterans such as Shami or Bhuvneshwar ****** ar could still mount a comeback, McGrath said the decision rested on their bodies, motivation and the selectors.

"If they're prepared to put the work in and their body allows it, then why not? As fast bowlers get older, the work only gets tougher. Ultimately, it's up to them and the selectors."

McGrath also called for a rethink in the way fast bowlers are rehabilitated after injuries, arguing that modern systems often "wrap bowlers in cotton wool" instead of making them physically stronger.

Teenage striker Fynn Schenten of 1. FC Köln is set to continue his development in the Netherlands with Roda JC Kerkrade. As previously reported, the season-long loan contains no purchase option, reflecting Köln's belief that the 18-year-old remains a long-term first-team prospect. Schenten joined the club at the age of eight and progressed through every academy level at the Geißbockheim before helping Köln win the German under-19 championship.
He signed a professional contract through 2030 in January and has already made seven Bundesliga appearances. The move should provide regular senior minutes before Schenten returns to challenge for a permanent place in Köln's attack.
Raised in Bonn, Schenten joined Köln's academy at eight and progressed through every youth team. Last season, he scored six goals in five UEFA Youth League matches, including against Inter Milan before a record sellout crowd at the RheinEnergieStadion. In the Köln senior team, he made one start last October.
"One of our goals is to integrate as many players as possible from the FC Academy into the professional team," Köln technical director Lukas Berg noted in a club statement. "Fynn already made this leap on a few occasions last season and showed his potential. We discussed this plan with him early on. In Roda Kerkrade, we've found a suitable club where he'll be close to home, yet still have the opportunity to take the next steps in his development."
"I got a taste of [the Kölner experience] last season," Schenten himself noted. "Playing with the pros—and especially at the RheinEnergieStadion—was a first step, but of course I want to establish myself at this level permanently. I know I still have some ground to cover in my development to get there. I'm 100 percent committed to taking on this challenge in Kerkrade and then returning to Geißbockheim a year from now, stronger than ever."

Dante Fowler has now followed in the footsteps of DeMarcus Lawrence, who left the Dallas Cowboys last year for the Seattle Seahawks.
It was a decision that ultimately paid off for Tank Lawrence, after he got his hands on the Lombardi trophy following years of pain with the Cowboys.
The Seahawks will be looking to join the elite club of going back-to-back, as Mike Macdonald has added to his 'Dark Side' defense with the arrival of the NFL veteran, Fowler.
Seattle's defense was arguably the best in the league last season, and retaining Lawrence whilst adding Fowler will only encourage fans in the Pacific Northwest.
After leaving the Cowboys last year, Lawrence aimed a clear dig at his former team, and Fowler has seemingly done the same in his latest trip to the podium during Seattle's training camp.

For 22 years, Google generated more cash than it spent every quarter. That record broke between April and June this year.
Alphabet, Google's parent, spent $44.9 billion on AI infrastructure (chips, servers and data centers) over those three months — or about $490 million a day. The business generated $39.1 billion in cash during the same stretch. That left it $5.9 billion in the hole, its first ever quarter of negative free cash flow since the company went public in August 2004.

As the Minnesota Vikings get ready for the start of training camp, one thing the Vikings' offensive coaching staff is likely preparing for is continuing the installation of the offense. That carries added importance this season if the Vikings have a new starting quarterback, particularly in the passing game, but the run game is also likely to get a bit of a makeover with the addition of ****** istant head coach Frank Smith, who is focusing on the run game.
Kevin O'Connell is an offshoot of the McVay branch of the Shanahan coaching tree while Frank Smith worked under Mike McDaniel in Miami, who is an offshoot of the Kyle Shanahan branch. McDaniel specialized in the run game working under Kyle Shanahan and Frank Smith will bring a lot of those concepts to Minnesota. I won't go into the Shanahan coaching tree history, which you can get it here, but there is a lot of overlap between various offshoots, even as each of them evolve too.
A core feature of the Shanahan offense is the wide zone run scheme. When you see all the offensive linemen take a drop or bucket step and then all block horizontally in the same direction, that is zone blocking. In wide zone, the running back aims for the ****** of the tight end or if there is no tight end on the play side, then the outside leg of the tackle. The back then reads the defensive end and makes his cut after 3-5 steps. If he moves inside, the back bounces the run outside, if he pursues outside, the back bends it back inside, if the hole is open, he bangs through. Below is a classic outside zone play, called on 1st and 10.
This isn't new for the Vikings or Kevin O'Connell's scheme. It's been a staple for years. In fact, it's not all that different than 'super power left' power sweeps we used to run in pee-wee football back in the 1970s
And if you watch the play, it didn't fool the Bengals defense. The defensive formation was toward the play side, countering the double tight-end set, the linebackers flow toward the run immediately, there is even a backside defensive back blitzing to try and get to Mason behind the line of scrimmage. The play was successful because it was well blocked and Mason didn't hesitate, but the play design itself didn't do much to tilt the outcome in the Vikings' favor.

The House earlier this week passed legislation that would set new restrictions on stock trading by members of Congress, their spouses and dependent children. It doesn't seem likely to cross beyond the Senate with critics deriding the measure as an inadequate one that contains "loopholes" and unrelated voting restrictions.
The stock trade bill — known as the "Stop Insider Trading Act" — passed on Wednesday in a 232-198 vote with 13 Democrats siding with every House Republican. Democratic senators, though, aren't likely to endorse the legislation since lawmakers won't be compelled to sell off their existing stock portfolio.

People rarely go broke overnight. It usually happens gradually, as a string of financial decisions that each seemed fine on their own pile up until they can't be ignored anymore. Even high earners aren't immune.
A Harris Poll in November 2025 found that a third of Americans earning $100,000 or more describe themselves as financially distressed, and 64% now consider a six-figure income "survival mode" rather than a sign of wealth. Three-quarters had used a credit card recently because they'd run out of cash, and more than half said they'd need to double their income just to feel secure.

Google just reported the biggest quarterly profit in its history — but roughly two-thirds came from gains on investments rather than its main businesses.
Alphabet, Google's parent company, reported $112.1 billion in profit for the three months ending in June. That's nearly four times the $28.2 billion it made a year earlier. About $77.1 billion of that total came from gains on investments that had largely risen in value on paper, but not yet sold for cash.

July 23 (Reuters) - SAP's finance chief said on Thursday that artificial intelligence in enterprise software must move beyond chatbots and ‌coding tools into more complex business processes, where clean data, reliability ‌and cost control matter more than access to the most powerful model.
Companies have poured money into generative AI but are still seeking evidence of broad productivity gains, and SAP is arguing that the returns will come less from general-purpose models than from governed systems embedded in specific business processes.
CFO Dominik Asam told reporters after SAP's ‌second-quarter results that the "lion's share" of AI token consumption today was spent in "low-hanging fruits" coding ******* istant and chatbots, where AI's hallucinations matter less because the output carries limited risk if it fails.
But applying AI to finance, supply chain or other core business processes is harder because errors carry over multiple steps, increasing risk against compliance standards, he said.

It took years for Magomed Ankalaev to climb to the top of the light heavyweight mountain, and less than 90 seconds for his reign to end. There's no telling how long it will take him to make it back, but he takes his first steps to another championship opportunity at UFC Abu Dhabi.

Growth in last-mile delivery for big and bulky e-commerce items has slowed by half because stagnant home sales mean people are ordering fewer large-ticket discretionary items like furniture and appliances, cutting into profit margins, according to a report from Armstrong & ******* ociates and the National Home Delivery ******* ociation.
Armstrong & ******* ociates estimated the $10.6 billion market for residential delivery of oversized and heavyweight items will grow at a 5.1% compound annual rate through 2027, down from 10.6% over the past eight years, reaching an estimated value of $12.3 billion. Winning service providers will be those that can best execute core, commoditized services such as white-glove delivery, time-definite, returns and in-home ******* embly.
The expansion continues to be driven by major retailers and e-commerce platforms, including Amazon, Wayfair, Home Depot and Lowe's, which have made large-format products central to their online offerings. Many third-party logistics providers (3PLs) support them, primarily utilizing independent contractors and freight brokerage operations, but the work is more complex and cost-intensive than for final-mile couriers in parcel networks who simply drop off packages at doorsteps, or in mailboxes.
As more consumers purchase ******* bersome products online, carriers face growing pressure to provide not just transportation to the curb, but a premium, in-home delivery experience that may include setup, installation, and even haul-away services, while keeping costs under control, the report said.
Demand for exercise equipment, mattresses, furniture and other large items is closely tied to switches in living locations. When people and businesses move, they tend to upgrade items, or add new ones to fill larger ******* es.

Alex Bowman's surprise retirement announcement caught much of the NASCAR world off guard Thursday, but the Hendrick Motorsports driver says the decision wasn't driven by the reason many fans ***** umed.
Speaking Friday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, one day after announcing he will retire from full-time Cup Series competition following the 2027 season, Bowman explained that his future plans are centered less on what he's leaving behind and more on the life he wants to build once he's steps away from racing.
Despite battling concussions, a broken back and, more recently, a bout of vertigo earlier this season, Bowman said his health wasn't the deciding factor.
Instead, after nearly two decades chasing a racing career, he's ready for something different.
Bowman acknowledged the physical toll racing has taken but made it clear he still believes he can compete at NASCAR's highest level.

When we think about the major global automakers these days, many investors forget all about Stellantis (NYSE: STLA), while General Motors (NYSE: GM) and Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) remain hot topics. It's understandable, considering Stellantis' declining relevance in multiple markets, lack of a true branding identity, and numerous management missteps. That said, the company could be in oversold territory, and Wall Street forward estimates suggest ***** ysts are in "prove it" mode regarding the company's massive $70 billion turnaround plan. Here's a look at how Stellantis is poised to outperform its rivals over the next five years.

GM has been thriving, and its stock has doubled over the past three years, while Ford has essentially remained flat, but Stellantis checked in with a staggering near 70% decline. To get a better idea of just how much value Stellantis has shed, take a look at this next graph.

Roughly a decade ago, Stellantis, then operating as Fiat Chrysler Automobiles in this reference, was peaking in the U.S. market. By 2019, however, its market share began a sharp decline that would last until about 2023, before leveling off over the next couple of years. This is the first year investors are seeing life from its core Jeep and Ram brands in North America.
