Milan and Italy legend Franco Baresi made his last appearance at San Siro this past February, carrying the Olympic Torch alongside Beppe Bergomi.
Former Milan and Italy defender Baresi has died at 66.
The Italian football icon had begun a course of immunotherapy in August 2025 after having had surgery to remove a pulmonary nodule.
The last time he appeared in public was on February 6, 2026, at San Siro. Baresi was one of the torchbearers for the Olympic flame at the opening ceremony for the Milan Cortina Winter Games and brought the Olympic Torch alongside Inter legend Bergomi.
"It was the most emotional moment of my sporting life. I've never felt anything like it," Baresi told Repubblica the following day.

The 23-year-old midfielder was on his way out of San Siro after an unfortunate debut campaign that saw him suffer a broken fibula early into the season, after which he struggled to get minutes under Max Allegri, managing just 17 appearances.

Thursday’s reports claim that Luka Modric has already put pen to paper on his new Milan contract, and now all that is missing is a formal confirmation from the club.
Modric, who will turn 41 in September, has already put his signature on a one-year contract extension with wages reported to be worth €3.5m (net) plus bonuses according to TMW. An official announcement from the club could even arrive by the end of the afternoon.

Reports in Italy claim that Paris Saint-Germain are set to welcome another young Italian goalkeeping talent to their squad as 18-year-old Alessandro Longoni is set to move to the Parc des Princes at the end of his time with Milan.
Longoni, who has been based with the Milan Futuro side in 2025-26, is set to leave the Rossoneri set-up at the end of his contract this summer and already has an agreement in place to join PSG according to reports from Calciomercato.com.

Monday’s report claims that Longoni is keen to leave San Siro and that he is disappointed at how things played out for him on a personal level in his final year with the club.
The youngster is said to be upset by the fact that his colleague Matteo Pittarella, also 18, was promoted to train with the club’s first-team instead of him while he was left to play and train with the Primavera and Futuro sides, despite being part of the Italy U17 squad that won the European Championships earlier this month.
