Former Inter defender Marco Materazzi feels José Mourinho wouldn't have subbed Rasmus Hojlund off, as Massimiliano Allegri did against Inter last weekend, but Federico Dimarco's absence will be 'significant' at the Bernabéu tonight.

On August 6, Dentsply Sirona (NASDAQ:XRAY) reported second-quarter 2026 results that pulled the stock in two directions at once. Net sales fell 4.1% year over year to $898 million, yet the company swung from a $45 million net loss a year earlier to $37 million in net income, with diluted earnings per share of $0.18 versus a $0.22 loss. Investors are left weighing a real profitability turnaround against a top line that is still shrinking.
GAAP gross margin climbed to 54.9% from 52.4% a year ago, and adjusted gross margin came in at 56.4%. Adjusted EBITDA margin ticked up slightly to 21.3% from 21.1%. Cash generation improved even more sharply. Operating cash flow jumped to $99 million from $48 million in the second quarter of 2025, helped by roughly $44 million in tariff refunds along with tighter management of inventory and payables. Free cash flow more than tripled to $55 million from $16 million. The company used some of that cash to repurchase 1.3 million shares for about $12 million during the quarter, and it also expanded its partnership with Medline Sinclair to broaden access to its Connected Technology Solutions portfolio across Canada.
Wellspect Healthcare was the lone segment posting real growth, with net sales up 7.1% to $86 million, and EMEA sales as reported were essentially flat at 0.2% growth. There were no goodwill or intangible ***** et impairments this quarter, a contrast to the $235 million charge taken in the same period last year. GAAP gross margin climbed to 54.9% from 52.4% a year ago, and adjusted gross margin came in at 56.4%. Adjusted EBITDA margin ticked up slightly to 21.3% from 21.1%. Cash generation improved even more sharply. Operating cash flow jumped to $99 million from $48 million in the second quarter of 2025, helped by roughly $44 million in tariff refunds along with tighter management of inventory and payables. Free cash flow more than tripled to $55 million from $16 million. The company used some of that cash to repurchase 1.3 million shares for about $12 million during the quarter, and it also expanded its partnership with Medline Sinclair to broaden access to its Connected Technology Solutions portfolio across Canada.
Wellspect Healthcare was the lone segment posting real growth, with net sales up 7.1% to $86 million, and EMEA sales as reported were essentially flat at 0.2% growth. Lautaro Martinez has said interest from Barcelona made him proud but outlined his commitment to Inter Milan.
Martinez was named as a potential transfer target for Barcelona as the Spanish champions sought to sign a centre-forward in the summer window.
Barcelona are understood to have made an approach for Martinez, who has scored 175 goals in 378 games for theSerie A side. The approach was turned down with Inter president Giuseppe Marotta insisting the two-time Capocannoniere winner was not for sale at any price.
Martinez has now opened up on the rumours, and said he intends to end his career at the San Siro.
"When these offers and calls come in, it is always a pleasure, because you work to stay at the top. The rumours were true, but I am very clear about my ideas: I wanted to stay here with my teammates and with these magnificent fans," Martinez told Sky Italia.

After the first matchday of Serie A, the talking points we've seen are the usual ones: refereeing decisions, the transfer market still being open, the post-match reactions where some vent by criticizing and others take little digs as a strategy.
The routine we waited for all summer, however, mustn't put us on autopilot, because something different happened: young Italians actually played. It seems unbelievable, but it's true: Mattia Liberali, Simone Lontani, Alessandro Romano (Swiss with dual citizenship), Emanuele Lulli, Alphadjo Cisse and Alessio Cacciamani took the field.
Some did so as starters, others came off the bench: for not all of them was it their absolute Serie A debut, but the wider public really discovered them just a few days ago. The comparison with the other top European leagues is still a long way off (to put it kindly), but at least we're trying: "Better something than nothing," as Gianni Brera would have said.
After an excellent pre-season with Milan and Ruben Amorim's imprimatur in a press conference, Alphadjo Cisse (without the accent, as he himself wanted to point out) made his debut at San Siro and scored the first Serie A goal of his career. He handled the ball well in traffic, pressed constantly and, above all, scored at the decisive moment.
During the summer he trained on his own in Montesilvano (Abruzzo) to get back into shape after tearing his adductor tendon, an injury that had cut short an excellent season with Aquilani's Catanzaro. Throughout July, Sassuolo and Torino wanted him on loan, but Amorim chose to keep him and throw him in. He is already repaying that faith.

The routine we waited for all summer, however, mustn't put us on autopilot, because something different happened: young Italians actually played. It seems unbelievable, but it's true: Mattia Liberali, Simone Lontani, Alessandro Romano (Swiss with dual citizenship), Emanuele Lulli, Alphadjo Cisse and Alessio Cacciamani took the field.
Some did so as starters, others came off the bench: for not all of them was it their absolute Serie A debut, but the wider public really discovered them just a few days ago. The comparison with the other top European leagues is still a long way off (to put it kindly), but at least we're trying: "Better something than nothing," as Gianni Brera would have said.
After an excellent pre-season with Milan and Ruben Amorim's imprimatur in a press conference, Alphadjo Cisse (without the accent, as he himself wanted to point out) made his debut at San Siro and scored the first Serie A goal of his career. He handled the ball well in traffic, pressed constantly and, above all, scored at the decisive moment.
During the summer he trained on his own in Montesilvano (Abruzzo) to get back into shape after tearing his adductor tendon, an injury that had cut short an excellent season with Aquilani's Catanzaro. Throughout July, Sassuolo and Torino wanted him on loan, but Amorim chose to keep him and throw him in. He is already repaying that faith.

Inter continued preparations ahead of their first away game of the new season. Following their winning start against Monza at San Siro, the Nerazzurri will face Cagliari at the Unipol Domus on Sunday 30 August at 20:45 CEST. The team completed a training session at the Inter Training Center - in memory of Angelo Moratti under the guidance of Cristian Chivu and his staff.
