The American dominated from the opening bell, repeatedly punishing Benn as the 29-year-old charged forward with a wild and increasingly desperate approach.
Benn was dropped by a flush right hook in round two but managed to beat the count. before Garcia continued the onslaught with Benn backed against the ropes until the referee stepped in.
"I knew he would bring the pressure, I felt the shots and though 'I'll let him have his way', but I knew his was reckless and you can't do that with me," Garcia told DAZN.

Ryan Garcia left no doubt. After a heated build-up between two of boxing's biggest names, the reigning WBC welterweight champion delivered a devastating performance Saturday night inside of Las Vegas' T-Mobile Arena, needing less than two rounds to dispatch Conor Benn and successfully defend his belt in a statement performance.
After controlling the opening round, Garcia ended matters in spectacular fashion early in the second, uncorking a massive right hand that sent Benn crumbling to the canvas. Benn managed to beat the 10-count, but Garcia immediately swarmed his wounded prey and unloaded against the ropes until the referee mercifully stepped in to stop the bout.
Afterward, Garcia (26-2, 21 KOs) called for WBA welterweight champion Teofimo Lopez to join him in the ring, teasing the possiblitiy of a massive unification clash next. Benn (25-2, 14 KOs), meanwhile, suffered the first stoppage loss of his pro career.

Ryan Garcia made his point emphatically tonight, stopping Conor Benn in the second round of their highly-anticipated welterweight showdown in Las Vegas.
Garcia retained his WBC welterweight ******* le with the victory, making a successful first defense of the belt he won earlier this year.
Benn (25-2, 14 KO) and Garcia (26-2, 21 KO) both came out with a lot of tense energy in the opening round, and looked to do what they do best, as Garcia wanted to use his speed to snipe Benn while moving around, hoping to bait an aggressive Benn into walking onto a shot.
That happened in the second round, as Garcia dropped Benn with a laser right hand. It was clear that Benn's legs were pretty much gone, but he got up and tried to continue on. Garcia wasn't exactly sharpshooting, opting instead for a flurry of shots, and referee Thomas Taylor stepped in.

Juventus had won their first two games of the season, but it would be entirely fair to say that they had come close to leaving those matches ruing missed opportunities. Each of them could've been put away long time before they were, and indeed one of the major talking points headed into Sunday's matchup against AC Milan was the fact that the Bianconeri had gotten the results without reaching the level of performance they desired. Milan were in the same boat, winning two straight under new manager Ruben Amorim but not convincing in either. It felt as though the team that managed to perform better would be the likelier to come out of the Allianz on top.
It was ultimately Juve that had the better of a game that was equal parts chaotic and sloppy. But once again they failed to take advantage of their performances. They failed to make the most of the chances they made over the game's first 70 minutes before Milan scored on — stop me if you've heard this one before — their first shot on target of the match. It took until the second minute of stoppage time for Juve to finally even things out, when Federico Gatti powered home a Teun Koopmeiners cross from six yards to earn the Old Lady a 1-1 draw.
The problems for Juventus were the same as we've talked about all season so far. The finishing wasn't nearly good enough, the passing was disjointed and often inaccurate, and overall creativity seemed to be lacking. But in spite of all of that, they can honestly say that they were the better of the two sides and deserved victory — even more so when you consider the fact that Milan's goal really should've been disallowed for a foul in the buildup that was never flagged by VAR. Considering they were missing seven players due to injury, several of whom were extremely important, it's far too early to start abandoning hope of a successful year—provided they make the improvements that their play so far suggest is possible.
Luciano Spalletti was missing Kenan Yildiz, Weston McKennie, Khéphren Thuram, Andrea Cambiaso, Jeff Ekhator, Juan Cabal, and Pape Matar Sarr. His 4-2-3-1 formation gave several players their first starts of the year. Guglielmo Vicario started behind the back four of Pierre Kalulu, Bremer, Jhon Lucumí, and Zeki Celik. Manuel Locatelli and Douglas Luiz started in the middle of the park, while Francisco Conceição joined Nico González and Kerim Alajbegovic behind Randal Kolo Muani in attack.
Amorim missed Matteo Gabbia due to an ankle injury, but returned a few players to the starting lineup who had been eased back into things after long World Cup runs. Mike Maignan started in goal, ahead of a 3-4-2-1 setup that was a slight tweak to Amorim's usual 3-4-3. Former Juve prospect Koni De Winter joined Strahinja Pavolovic and Mario Gila in defense. Big-money signing Diego Moreira got his first start of the season opposite Pervis Estupiñán at the wing-back spots, while Luka Modric and Yunis Musah manned the double pivot. On Saturday, too, well over 10,000 Black-and-Yellows made the trip to Sinsheim. Anyone unfamiliar with the situation might have thought the Swedish national team was playing there, with large sections of the stands mixed in yellow and blue. "It felt like there were more BVB fans in the stadium than Hoffenheim fans," said managing director Lars Ricken with a wink.
But TSG Hoffenheim initially set the tone and deservedly took a 2-0 lead shortly after halftime. BVB responded after an hour, first leveling the score within five minutes through goals from Serhou Guirassy and Fabio Silva. Then, in the 86th minute, a deflected cross from Ethan Nwaneri led to an own goal and a 3-2 win for BVB.

Former UFC contender Tony Ferguson returns to the boxing ring Sept. 26 on the undercard of Henry Cejudo vs. "Deen The Great."
Ferguson will take on former professional soccer player Kenzo Biyong in a five-round boxing match for Misfits Boxing at James L. Knight Center in Miami.
Ferguson, 42, is 2-0 under the Misfits banner with one pro win and one exhibition win. He hasn't competed in striking competition since December when he beat Warren Spencer by unanimous decision. Prior to that, he defeated Nathaniel Bustamante, also known as "Salt Papi," by third-round TKO stoppage.
Since those boxing bouts, Ferguson took a wrestling match for RAF, which he lost to Arman Tsarukyan by technical fall.
Biyong, 28, has dabbled in combat sports before, though this will be his first outing involving striking. In April, he competed at UFC BJJ 7 and was quickly submitted by Raphael Ferreira.

A little bit of personal story-time to start this week's Sinners & Saints. Yesterday was the first Roma match that my girlfriend watched all the way through in a serious way. She's a fan of football in general, but follows the NWSL most closely. Thanks to my work with Chiesa di Totti, she knows what's going on in a general way with Roma most of the time, and we've both been thinking for a while that it would be great for us to watch Roma together this season. Her main experience with seeing me follow Roma has been witnessing my frustration: she knows Roma is generally a club with talented players that fail to meet expectations, a club always just on the outside looking in.
Because of some scheduling issues for the first two matches, yesterday was her first time watching a match this season in full (whereas previous seasons, she didn't want to watch because it was "kind of depressing." Fair enough.). 45 minutes in, she was impressed albeit deeply frustrated with Roma's inability to get the ball past Marco Carnesecchi. 85 minutes in, I thought I was introducing her to the apotheosis of what happens when Roma Happens; when no amount of combined talent, no amount of good form, no amount of opportunities on goal seems to be capable of defeating the destiny of Roma to be just one tier below the best of Italian and European football, for eternity.
Then, of course, came the six minutes where Roma turned a 0-1 loss into a 2-1 win. I was on the edge of my seat (literally, my Uber nearly got into an accident) when Matías Soulé scored his stoppage time goal to preserve Roma's perfect record and keep the hopes of something greater for this season alive. I'm still feeling shocked and thrilled that the Giallorossi pulled this one off, and what a game to use to truly introduce my girlfriend to Roma. Roma did concede, and Roma did look as if they were going to lose this one for most of the second half; given that, I had to anoint at least one player a sinner. But make no mistake: this match felt more exciting to me than either of the multi-goal clean sheets that started the season, and in my book is a far better signal for just how high this Roma can go than either the win against Lecce or Fiorentina.
One quick aside before diving into the sinners and saints: my love for Mile Svilar knows no bounds, but if yesterday's match taught me just about anything regarding a non-Roma player, it's that I want Marco Carnesecchi to be Italy's goalkeeper moving forward. What an incredible performance; this one could have and should have been a 5-1 rout, if not for his 9 saves.
He got the game-winner in stoppage time, so he has to be the first saint on the list. MatìGol (can we start calling him that?) put in an excellent shift as a substitute, garnering himself an 8.7 rating from SofaScore after coming on for Rodrigo Mora in the 54th minute and practically willing the Giallorossi to the win. For the vast majority of the 2026 Italian Grand Prix, George Russell appeared completely in control of his own destiny. After pulling off a sharp opening-lap move on pole-sitter Pierre Gasly and surviving the Lap 3 red flag triggered by Charles Leclerc's crash, the Mercedes driver looked poised to convert his front-row start into a commanding victory at the Temple of Speed.
Instead, a critical strategic gamble under a late Virtual Safety Car completely upended the race, leaving Russell defenseless on fading rubber while his teammate Andrea Kimi Antonelli charged from the back of the grid to **** the win.
Mercedes opted for an extreme tire management strategy with Russell, keeping him out on a single set of hard compound tires following the early race stoppage. But when a late Virtual Safety Car period neutralized the field, the Silver Arrows pit wall was forced to make a high-stakes tactical call: preserve track position or pit for fresher, faster rubber.
While Russell remained out on track to protect the race lead, Antonelli and Red Bull's Max Verstappen both dove into the pits for fresh tires. The stark difference in grip proved decisive in the final laps, as Antonelli rapidly eliminated the gap and swept past Russell to claim an astonishing victory from 19th on the grid.

Austin FC is at least keeping the end of its MLS season interesting.
For the second straight week, the Verde and Black pulled out points in the match's final moments, this time using Guilherme Biro's goal to earn a 1-1 draw Saturday with the San Jose Earthquakes at Q2 Stadium.
And while Austin FC is still five points out of the ninth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference with two months and 11 contests to go, it turned in another solid performance that indicates it should be in every match the rest of the way.

Lautaro Martinez scored a stoppage-time winner as Inter Milan came from behind to beat Napoli 3-2 and maintain their perfect start to the new Serie A season.

However, he was not included in Friday's matchday squad and apparently was left off the team's Conference League roster as well so it looks as though he has work to do to gain back a position at the club.
NYCFC v Nashville SC — 7:30p on Apple TV: Matt Freese and NYCFC look to snap a five match winless streak on Friday night but they'll have to do it against league leading Nashville who have won four straight and have a nine point lead in the Supporters Shield standings.
Newcastle v Bournemouth — 7:30a on USA Network/Peacock: For the second straight week Tyler Adams came off the bench and Bournemouth conceded a late goal to drop points as Everton scored in stoppage time to draw level. The Ultimate Fighting Championship's annual Madison Square Gardencard is taking shape.

NazimSadykhov is set to square off against JeffersonNascimento in a lightweight bout at UFC 334 onNov. 14 at MSG in New York City. While the UFC has yet toofficially announce the bout, Sadykhov took to Instagram to revealthe booking. They last competed on the same card earlier thisyear.
Nascimento (13-1) was a highly touted undefeated prospect goinginto his UFC debut against fellow promotional debutant TahirAbdullayev this past June at UFC Baku. However, he was booed in enemy territory for coastingthroughout the first two rounds.

Abdullayev finally hurt Nascimento late in the third round andreferee Jim Perdios called a highly questionable stop to thecontest. While Nascimento made his UFC debut at welterweight, theformer LFA lightweight champ will drop back down to 155 pounds inpursuit of his first Octagon victory.

Meanwhile, Sadykhov (11-3-1) was a -250 favorite against MatheusCamilo in front of a home crowd in Azerbaijan. However, Camilosilenced the crowd by knocking Sadykhov out in the first round,although it was yet another controversial stoppage, this time byreferee RichMitchell. This marked Sadykhov's second loss on the bouncefollowing his defeat to Fares Ziamlast December. His UFC record stands at 4-2-1.

Silvestre Sanchez may have punched his way to a UFC deal.
At Dana White's Contender Series 90 on Tuesday, Mexico's Silvestre (10-1) proved the oddsmakers wrong as he finished England's Liam McCracken (8-2) with a big left hook to close their lightweight bout at Meta APEX in Las Vegas. The stoppage came at 2:44 of Round 3.
The fight was competitive with both men having their moments. Silvestre seemed a step ahead, and bloodied McCracken in Round 2. A looping punch floored McCracken midway through the final round, and a glancing hammerfist finished off the job.
The finish got a big reaction out of UFC CEO Dana White and CBO Hunter Campbell.
Sanchez, 24, carved out his reputation on the Mexican regional scene with standout performances for Lux Fight League. Tuesday's win was the fourth knockout of his pro career. He has five career submissions as well.

Carlos Prates has admitted he expects to get "smashed" by Islam Makhachev for periods of their fight, should they clash over the UFC welterweight ******* le – but he believes he will ultimately knock out the Russian.
Prates is seen as the likeliest contender to face Makhachev next, given he is 7-1 in the UFC with seven knockout wins, including stoppages of former champions Jack Della Maddalena and Leon Edwards.
Makhachev last fought in August, outpointing Ian Machado Garry, the only man to beat Prates in the UFC. With that win, the 34-year-old Russian confirmed his status as the UFC's pound-for-pound No 1 fighter.

Still, Prates is confident that Makhachev would suffer the same fate as so many others, if he fought the Brazilian, 33.

"The Last Kingsman" has a new opponent in "The City of Light."
The Ultimate Fighter Season 32 winner and Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Featherweight prospect Mairon Santos was scheduled to face No. 8-ranked Nathaniel Wood at UFC Paris this weekend (Sat., Sept. 5, 2026) inside Accor Arena in Paris, France.
Unfortunately, Santos has withdrawn from the matchup and has been replaced by undefeated UFC newcomer Pavel Andrusca on less than one week's notice.
Andrusca, 24, is a perfect 8-0 as a professional and enters his Octagon debut riding a seven-fight finishing streak. The Moldovan knockout artist owns an 88 percent career finish rate, including six knockouts and five first-round stoppages.
He is coming off a brutal first-round knockout of Gexipengchu at UAE Warriors 72 in July, flattening the 13-2 Chinese veteran with a sniper-like right hand at 2:09 (watch the video above).
