No stadium and no canteen would be complete without it: the good old currywurst. In Germany, this cult dish is so important that it even has its own day on September 4.
So naturally, we find ourselves asking: which former or current Bundesliga pro would actually run the best snack stand and whip up an absolutely first-class currywurst for us there?
Mr. Kebab Toss is, of course, the undisputed number one. If you order a dish here, you'll either get it handed to you or, alternatively, thrown straight into your face from three meters away. Better not walk into this place wearing Schalke gear.
His snack stand would probably have 47 special offers at the same time. No one understands the menu, but in the end everything tastes delicious. The server talks nonstop to the guests or, if necessary, to the deep fryer.
As the owner of numerous kebab shops, Poldi is already deeply involved in the business. So what's stopping him from expanding it a little further? If it tastes good, it tastes good.

The fund's technology holdings gained 72.39%, contributing 14.87 percentage points, compared with a 95.27% return and 7.10-point contribution from the benchmark's technology sector. Excluding IT and cash, the Fund contributed 12.73% versus 15.89% for the Russell 2000 Value Index; on a fully invested basis, the figures were 16.62% and 17.59%, respectively. The portfolio continued to trim appreciated technology holdings amid the AI-driven rally, while maintaining a bottom-up approach and avoiding beaten-down SaaS stocks due to the widening range of AI-related outcomes. The fund also eliminated about $62 million in capital gains during Q2 and approximately $140 million year-to-date through July, while ending the quarter with 10.2% in cash. In addition, please check the Fund's top five holdings to know its best picks in 2026.
In its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, FPA Queens Road Small Cap Value Fund highlighted stocks like Upbound Group (NASDAQ:UPBD). Upbound Group (NASDAQ:UPBD) provides consumer leasing and retail solutions through brands including Rent-A-Center, serving customers seeking flexible payment options. The one-month return of Upbound Group (NASDAQ:UPBD) was -10.86% while its shares traded between $15.82 and $28.03 over the last 52 weeks. On August 28, 2026, Upbound Group (NASDAQ:UPBD) stock closed at approximately $19.22 per share, with a market capitalization of about $1.07 billion.
FPA Queens Road Small Cap Value Fund stated the following regarding Upbound Group (NASDAQ:UPBD) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"Upbound Group (NASDAQ:UPBD) lends to sub-prime consumers in two primary segments: Rent-a-Center, which focuses on furniture and appliances through physical stores; and Acima, which offers last-look financing through ***** ociated retailers including electronics and tire shops ("Buy Now Pay Later"). Sub-prime consumers are struggling but Upbound's operating results remain stable. The company has been slow to de-lever after purchasing Acima in 2021 and made another incremental acquisition on Jan. 31, 2025 when it bought Brigit, an app that charges subscription fees to access payday lending. UPBD's stock is cheap at less than five times earnings. But we have been slow to add given the company's leverage and concerns regarding the Buy Now Pay Later segment".

Underperforming store locations have been a major problem for various retail sectors, such as supermarkets, apparel shops, and drugstore chains, forcing retailers to close shops to eliminate a drain on liquidity.
Restaurants have also closed struggling locations to cut their losses, and now manufacturers are also closing underperforming facilities as well.
Giant tool company Stanley Black & Decker Inc. plans to close its underperforming Hampstead, Md., factory and lay off 55 workers, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act notice filed with the Maryland Department of Labor on Aug. 19.
Layoffs at the factory are set to begin on Oct. 23, 2026, and continue through the facility's closing by March 26, 2027, according to the WARN notice.
"Over the past few years, we have seen a steady decline in volume in the materials produced at our Hampstead, Maryland, manufacturing facility," Stanley Black & Decker spokesperson Debora Raymond told the Baltimore Sun.

A town's businesses have said they will "suffer massively" if they are forced to strip the streets outside their shops of displays and signage.
Hampshire County Council told traders in Lymington's cobbled Quay Street they must remove such items by Friday, or contractors could remove them instead.
The move follows three anonymous complaints made on 15 July, relating to items outside Quayside Fish Hut, Out of the Blue and Lymington Mobiles.
A Hampshire County Council spokesperson said it was responsible for keeping pavements and verges "safe and accessible for everyone".
It also said items such as advertising boards could narrow footways, block access and create hazards.

Kyle Busch's connection to Bristol Motor Speedway will be impossible to miss when NASCAR returns to Thunder Valley in September.
Bristol announced Wednesday that it will honor the late NASCAR champion during the Bass Pro Shops Night Race on Sept. 19 with a Lap 18 tribute, a nod to the No. 18 that became synonymous with Busch during the most successful stretch of his Cup Series career.
The tribute will extend well beyond a moment on the racetrack. Fans will receive commemorative yellow towels and be invited to wave them throughout Lap 18, creating what could become one of the most striking tributes to Busch since his death in May.
And when the field races beneath the lights, one particularly familiar sight will be back on the Bristol high banks.
Joe Gibbs Racing will bring Busch's familiar M&M's colors back to the track as part of the tribute.

Finding emerging restaurant brands early in their national expansion can be one of the simplest ways to build long-term wealth. An early investment in Starbucks or Chipotle Mexican Grill would have multiplied into a large sum.
Dutch Bros (NYSE: BROS) and Cava Group (NYSE: CAVA) have the potential to build similar wealth for investors over the next 20 years. Both companies are in the early stages of expanding across the U.S., making now a good time to start investing in these emerging brands.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
The specialty beverage category has grown in popularity in recent years, yet Dutch Bros is gaining market share and remains a promising stock to buy and hold. It operates exclusively through a drive-thru format, with shops offering a wide range of flavorful beverages, including energy drinks, refreshers, tea, lemonade, soda, and coffee.
Dutch Bros goes the extra mile to build connections with customers using free giveaways and friendly service. That's reflected in consistent growth: Revenue grew 32% year over year in the second quarter, with systemwide same-store sales up 5.8%. This is typical of quarterly results over the last few years.

German baseball player Max Kepler, who was suspended by the MLB for 80 games in January after a positive doping test, has suggested that contaminated meat could have caused his result.
The 33-year-old from Berlin has only been allowed to play in the top North American league again since the end of June.
"The substance was in my sample. I have no idea how it got in there, but I am responsible for it," former Minnesota Twins star Kepler said in an interview with broadcaster Sport1.
He tested positive for epitrenbolone, which is an anabolic steroid found in products sold in bodybuilding shops. But it is also used to promote growth when breeding cattle.
"Our theory ... was contaminated red meat. Because there have been cases in the past that were also won. In those cases, a meat source was found in restaurants that athletes ate at and that contained steroids," Kepler said.

Procter & Gamble (NYSE:PG) is buying its way into wellness. On August 4, L Catterton announced it had signed a definitive agreement to sell Thorne, a science-backed health and wellness brand, to Procter & Gamble for $3.8 billion in cash. The deal lands a day after an August 3 ****** ysis flagged a fiscal 2027 earnings guide that came in below expectations, weighed down by roughly $1 billion in new cost headwinds. Investors now have two stories to weigh at once: fresh expansion and a tougher near-term cost picture.
The Thorne acquisition gives Procter & Gamble entry into a category built on clinical credibility rather than shelf ****** e. Thorne has spent 40 years building relationships with healthcare practitioners, and L Catterton's announcement noted the company developed a proprietary AI wellness advisor to help consumers navigate its supplement lineup, a tool practitioners can point their patients to directly.
The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, an all-cash deal with no debt or equity swapped into the mix. Procter & Gamble isn't skimping on shareholders while it shops, either. The company returned $10.2 billion in dividends and $5.0 billion in share repurchases during fiscal 2026, and it plans roughly the same combination, about $10 billion in dividends and $5 billion in buybacks, for fiscal 2027. There's a case buried inside the company's own guidance, too. Strip out the roughly $1 billion in commodity, energy, and transportation costs management expects to absorb next year, and core EPS would be growing at about 10% instead of the 0% to 3% baked into the outlook.
The numbers behind the fiscal 2027 outlook explain the caution. Management guided core EPS to $6.89 to $7.11, implying growth of just 0% to 3%, and pointed to roughly $1 billion in after-tax commodity, energy, and transportation costs as the main culprit. Add higher net interest expense, lower non-operating income, and unfavorable currency, and the total drag reaches $0.56 per share, wiping out about 8 percentage points of core earnings growth before the year even starts.
The trend already shows up in recent results. In the fiscal fourth quarter, net sales rose 2% year-over-year to $21.2 billion while organic sales were flat, and core EPS fell 3% to $1.43. For the full fiscal year, net sales grew 3% to $87.0 billion, but organic sales rose only 1%, and every bit of that growth came from higher prices rather than more units sold. Volume and mix didn't move. Shares trade near $144, about 5% above their 52-week low of $137.62, or roughly 21 times fiscal 2026 core earnings of $6.89. That's not an expensive multiple, but it isn't cheap for a business guiding to low-single-digit growth.

End-of-year bonuses for private equity professionals are likely to be higher at larger managers compared to midsized and small buyout shops, as banks' blowout earnings put pressure on PE firms to keep pace on pay, according to projections from compensation consultant Johnson ***** ociates.
Its Q2 year-end projections report, which predicts Wall Street end-of-year bonuses based on recent market trends, said that PE professionals at large buyout shops can expect bonuses anywhere from 2.5% to 7.5% higher than what they received in 2025. That's an improvement over the Q1 outlook of no change up to a 5% increase.
The jump is due, in part, to mounting competition for talent between PE firms and banks, said Alan Johnson, president and founder of Johnson ***** ociates. Private equity firms will likely offer stronger sweeteners to retain talent during a challenging period.
"Banks and private equity compete for talent, and as the banks do better, there's going to be a bit of a drag-on effect to private equity," Johnson said.
Investment banks are having a great year. Goldman Sachs and JPMorganChase both reported strong Q2 results, with Goldman's earnings per share nearly doubling year-over-year to $20.98 and JPMorgan's net income up 41% to $21.2 billion. The surge was driven by an uptick in M&A volume and a handful of mega-transactions, such as the record-breaking ***** eX IPO that Goldman led in June.

Viola Davis is pouring $1.2 million into the Rhode Island community that helped raise her. The EGOT winner and her husband, actor Julius Tennon, made the donation through their Davis-Tennon Foundation to build a new community hub in Central Falls—the same city where Davis once faced crushing poverty, hunger, and unstable housing.
According to The Boston Globe, the Mary Alice Davis Family Engagement Center, named for Davis' mother, will put a wide range of services under one roof. The facility will include an expanded food pantry, a parent resource center, workforce development and financial literacy programs, educational workshops, meeting **** e for nonprofits, and the foundation's permanent headquarters. Its current food pantry already serves roughly 3,000 people every month.
"For me, this has always been about possibility," Davis said in a statement. "Every person deserves to be seen. Every family deserves opportunity. Every child deserves to grow up believing their future is larger than their circumstances."
COMPLEX SHOP: Shop the brands you love, anytime and anywhere. Uncover what's next. Buy. Collect. Obsess.
Those circumstances were once Davis' own. Born in South Carolina in 1965, she moved to Central Falls as a baby and spent much of her childhood in what she has described as "abject poverty."

Vinted, one of Europe's largest marketplaces for buying and selling pre-owned items between private individuals, will direct customers in Germany to ship or exchange goods through DHL Group's (XETRA: DHL) network of parcel lockers and digital kiosks, under a new strategic partnership aimed at making peer-to-peer purchases as convenient as ones through online retailers.
Private-party sales of used items through online marketplaces have become very popular in Germany. According to the latest DHL E-Commerce Trends Report, 67% of online shoppers in the country have already sold items via a digital platform.
Vinted and DHL announced Wednesday they are working together to expand and simplify the shipping and collection of Vinted parcels through DHL's network of Packstations (automated, self-service locker systems that allows users to send, receive and drop-off parcels around the clock), Poststations (digital Deutsche Post retail outlets where users can take care of postal business) and DeinFach lockers (a carrier neutral parcel locker network).
DHL operates the most extensive parcel shipping network in Germany, including 41,000 parcel drop-off and collection points at post offices, parcel shops and automated facilities.
The Vinted collaboration builds on a multi-month pilot program that both companies recently completed, DHL spokeswoman Sarah Preuss explained in an email message.

"Freestyle Biomechanics: The Science Behind The Strokes," a book by former University of Hawaii swimming coach Jan Prins, is now available via Amazon.
The book focuses on freestyle, but also touches on "the three other competitive strokes," said Prins, who earned a doctorate in kinesiology at Indiana in 1978 and still teaches at UH. "(It) covers … every freestyle movement from stroke pattern, body position, flutter kick, hand entry to recovery and much more."
It is the culmination of nearly 50 years of coaching, presentations, research and video workshops Prins has conducted for competitive swimmers and coaches.
"It will become a continuous shelf reference for all swimmers, especially triathletes and adults," said Garry Rodrigues, swim consultant to USA Triathlon for the 2028 Olympics.

Palm Valley Capital Management, an investment management firm, has issued the second-quarter 2026 investor letter for the "Palm Valley Capital Fund." A copy of the letter can be downloaded here. In the second quarter, the fund's investor class gained 1.80%, while the S&P SmallCap 600 rose 19.7% and the Morningstar Small Cap Total Return Index returned 14.0%. The Strategy primarily focused on small-cap categories, allocating 75% to cash equivalents. This led to underperformance relative to benchmarks. The Fund is currently seeking more small-cap opportunities that meet its return criteria and will act swiftly if market conditions improve. The Index benefited from strong contributions from data center construction and biotech sectors, while the energy industry lagged. Additionally, reviewing the fund's top five holdings can reveal its best investments in 2026.
In its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, Palm Valley Capital Management highlighted Vontier Corporation (NYSE:VNT) as a newly added position. Vontier Corporation (NYSE:VNT) is a global industrial technology and mobility solutions company that operates through mobility technologies, repair solutions, and environmental and fueling solutions segments. On July 7, 2026, Vontier Corporation (NYSE:VNT) closed at $28.49 per share, reflecting a market capitalization of $4.01 billion. Vontier Corporation (NYSE:VNT) posted a one-month return of 0.60%, while its shares lost 25.56% over the past 52 weeks.
Palm Valley Capital Management stated the following regarding Vontier Corporation (NYSE:VNT) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"The Fund acquired three new positions during the second quarter: The Clorox Company (ticker: CLX), Molson Coors Beverage Company (ticker: TAP), and Vontier Corporation (NYSE:VNT). Vontier sells the equipment, software, and recurring services that help convenience stores pump gas and process payments, repair shops diagnose problems, and car washes operate efficiently. It was spun out of Fortive Corporation in 2020, which itself was formerly part of Danaher. Key operations include fueling equipment and payment systems through the brands Invenco and Gilbarco Veeder-Root, vehicle repair and diagnostics tools through Matco Tools, and car wash technology through DRB. The company touches a large portion of the world's fuel transactions, since its equipment is installed at hundreds of thousands of fuel sites globally. Vontier enjoyed a significant temporary tailwind, peaking in 2021, when U.S. gas stations were required to upgrade payment terminals at the pump to support EMV chip card transactions due to shifting fraud liability rules. Some investors have long-term concerns about the company's relevance as the transportation fleet moves away from internal combustion engines. Vontier has become more fuel agnostic in recent years, with its products serving vehicles powered by gasoline, electricity, and hydrogen. ROME (AP) — The traditionalist Catholics who defied Pope Leo XIV and caused a schism defended their actions Friday, insisting they were merely saving souls and were victim of an unjust sanction by the Holy See.
The head of the Society of St. Pius X wrote to Leo a day after the Vatican excommunicated the group's bishops and priests and warned its faithful they too could be excommunicated for participating in the schism, or rupture in church unity.
The society, known as SSPX, celebrates the ancient Latin Mass and opposes the modernizing reforms of the Catholic Church. On Wednesday, it consecrated four new bishops without papal consent during a massive ceremony at its seminary in Econe, Switzerland, committing one of the gravest crimes in church law.
Leo had begged the SSPX not go ahead with the ceremony, but the SSPX defied his will. Within 24 hours, the Vatican declared an exceptionally harsh punishment that surprised even the SSPX's toughest critics.
In his letter to Leo, the SSPX superior, the Rev. Davide Pagliarani cast the SSPX as the defiant guardian of the church's tradition and the victim of an unjust sanction by Rome.

More than 300 people have been arrested across the UK, including 57 migrants who had crossed the Channel by boat, as part of a police crackdown on illegal trade and organised immigration crime.
The National Police Chiefs' Council (NPCC) said more than £1m cash was seized during the five-day operation between June 15 and June 20.
Illegal tobacco, vapes and cigarettes with a street value of more than £700,000 were also seized as well as cars, drugs and e-bikes.
The operation centred on tackling crime at premises that included barber shops, vape shops, car washes, food production and nail salons - with the NPCC saying such businesses are often targeted by criminal gangs as they "provide opportunities to conceal illegal working, to exploit vulnerable migrants, and to launder proceeds of crime".
The operation involved most UK police forces working alongside agencies including the Home Office, Immigration Enforcement and Trading Standards. A total of 362 arrests were made.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — With incense wafting to an elevated pulpit and 13 altar boys looking on, the priest at the Church of Saint Agnes preached about merging old Catholic customs with fidelity to the Vatican this week — as Pope Leo XIV tackled a major challenge from a traditionalist breakaway group.
"Our Catholic faith is a living tradition, and there is a difference between being rooted and being stuck," the Rev. John Ubel said in homilies Sunday at English-language and Latin Masses.
Since the Second Vatican Council modernized the liturgy more than 60 years ago, celebrating Mass in the traditional Latin Rite that preceded those reforms has become a lightning rod of the theological, cultural and increasingly partisan divides among Catholics.
The conflict made global headlines when Leo declared Thursday that one traditionalist group — the Society of St. Pius X, founded to reject the Council's reforms and celebrate exclusively the old Latin Mass — had formally broken with the Catholic Church.
The Vatican excommunicated the SSPX bishops and priests and warned its thousands of faithful after the society consecrated four men as bishops in defiance of Leo.

Liverpool's midfield is one of their main areas that needs to be revamped.
Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch both failed to meet expectations last term with their inability to run one of their main problems.
And, even when they did run, whenever an opponent faced up to them, especially Gravenberch, he rarely ever beat them and was often sent to the shops.
Indeed, the Dutchman did sign a ****** per new deal with the Anfield outfit during the 2025-26 season so he isn't likely to go anywhere but, Mac Allister's future still feels like it's undecided.
With all of this in mind, it's hardly surprising to see Liverpool being linked with new players almost every other day.
