Atlético Madrid head coach Diego Simeone has this weekend fired a fresh warning the way of La Liga rivals Barcelona. This comes amid the latter's ongoing pursuit of Rojiblancos star Julián Álvarez.
Barcelona's search for reinforcements up top has of course dominated the media headlines across Spain throughout the summer transfer window to date.
Whilst seeking out a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski, the Blaugrana have set their sights firmly on the aforementioned Álvarez, considered the ideal fit in Hansi Flick's system.
The problem for the Camp Nou brass, however, is that Atlético have made clear time and time again this summer that their star goalscorer is simply not for sale.
Speaking during an exchange with the media this weekend, Diego Simeone was therefore asked if there has been any change in his side's stance regarding Álvarez's immediate future.

LegalZoom.com (NASDAQ:LZ) had one of the roughest weeks in its history, and it happened almost right on top of a product launch. On August 4, the company announced a new agent integrated into Microsoft 365 Copilot, putting business formation, compliance filings, and attorney consultations directly inside the productivity tool millions of small businesses already use. Two days later, on August 6, the stock dropped 30% after second-quarter earnings revealed a guidance cut. Investors now have to decide which story matters more.
The Copilot integration is a meaningful distribution move. Instead of asking small business owners to leave their workflow and visit LegalZoom's site, the new agent lets Microsoft 365 Copilot users compare business structures like LLCs, corporations, nonprofits, and DBAs right where they are already working. A founder can ask Copilot how to start a business, get walked through a formation checklist covering state, name, and ownership, and see LLC packages with pricing, all backed by LegalZoom's 100% accuracy filing guarantee. The same agent connects users to attorneys in LegalZoom's network for consultations on contracts, intellectual property, and employment matters, complete with attorney bios and available appointment times for either async chat or scheduled calls. LegalZoom even generates an AI-powered briefing document so attorneys walk into each consultation with context on the client already in hand.
That product push lands on top of a subscription business that has actually been performing. Subscription revenue rose 11% in the second quarter, marking five consecutive quarters of double-digit growth in that category, the part of the business LegalZoom is leaning into most. Total revenue came in at $205.3 million, up 7% year over year and roughly in line with what **** ysts expected. For investors willing to look past this week's news, the forward price-to-earnings ratio of 6.22 is strikingly cheap for a company still growing its highest-margin revenue line by double digits.
The reason the stock fell 30% is that the good subscription numbers came wrapped in bad news elsewhere. Management said abrupt changes to Google's search algorithm hurt the company's traffic from the world's largest search engine, a serious problem for a business that depends heavily on customers finding it online. In response, LegalZoom cut its full-year 2026 revenue guidance to a range of $795 million to $805 million, down from a prior range of $810 million to $830 million. The company also trimmed the top end of its adjusted EBITDA guidance to $195 million, down from a previous ceiling of $200 million. Adjusted net income, which excludes certain accounting items, actually fell 3% to $27.4 million, or $0.16 per share, even as revenue grew. Management is now taking what it calls a more cautious approach to customer acquisition while it works to offset the search disruption with subscription and specialized product growth, a pivot that will take

Newcastle United appear to be planning for a significant midfield shift, with Foot Mercato reporting that Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been placed on the club's shortlist after the departure of Bruno Guimaraes.
There is a certain logic to the move. Hojbjerg, now 31, offers something very specific, ballast, authority and a working knowledge of the Premier League's rhythms. Newcastle are not, if this report is accurate, searching for a like-for-like replacement in style. They are identifying a player who could impose order in a midfield that may soon lose its primary organiser in possession.
The report states that Ross Wilson is directly overseeing Newcastle's interest, a detail that lends the pursuit some seriousness. It also suggests the club are have been prepared for Bruno Guimaraes' move to ****** nal. Guimaraes has often served as both hinge and heartbeat, dictating tempo while carrying Newcastle through pressure.
Photo IMAGO
Hojbjerg would bring a different type of influence. His game has long been built on clarity rather than decoration, positioning rather than improvisation. Newcastle may value that dependability, particularly if they want an experienced midfielder capable of making an immediate impact rather than requiring a season of adaptation.

The Baltimore Ravens entered their 30th season last September hoping to rebound from a disappointing Divisional Round exit in January 2025. Instead, they found more frustration. They struggled to find consistency. A heartbreaking Week 17 loss ensured they'd be watching the postseason from home. That fueled an offseason search for answers. One of the questions asked was about a four-time Pro Bowler/ two-time First-Team All-Pro.
Not long ago, Marlon Humphrey found himself at the center of one of the biggest offseason conversations. Scrutiny led to a common question. Might Baltimore move on? Few players drew more attention as being on the 'hot seat.'
Some questioned whether the former All-Pro had lost a step. Others wondered how much injuries had impacted his performance. His sizable contract only amplified the discussion, as Humphrey enters a season carrying a cap hit north of $26 million.
Inside the Ravens' building, however, there appears to be little concern. Humphrey admits to battling injury in 2025, but also ***** ures that he's now healthy. Head coach Jesse Minter recently offered a strong endorsement of the veteran cornerback, making it clear he believes Humphrey remains a critical piece of Baltimore's defense.
"I've got a lot of confidence in Marlon Humphrey," Coach Minter stated while addresing the media after practice... "I think he's really embraced some of the technical changes."

The news has been pointing this direction for a while now, but finally we get the most solid reporting yet that Manor Solmon is leaving Tottenham Hotspur. Fabrizio Romano (sigh) tweeted this afternoon that full agreement has been reached between Tottenham and West Ham, and Solomon will be heading across town to play football in the Championship next season. The deal is a permanent one.
I'll say again that £5m + £2m in add-ons is a fire-sale price for a player like Manor who has already proven that he can do well in the second division. That said, Solomon has proven himself to be a divisive — there I go using that word again — player who has been pretty much shut out by Spurs' last three managers, including Roberto De Zerbi who actually managed him at Shakhtar Donetsk from where he was signed three years ago. That tells me a lot. Clearly Spurs' priorities were more finding him a new club and less making any sort of substantial profit on his sale.
I won't belabor this and anyway I'm not opening the comments for this or any future Solomon article because honestly I'm just sick to death of the guy and am glad I no longer really have to write about him or moderate any more comment sections that discuss him. He was here, he didn't do much, and now he's nearly gone.
I will say that Solomon feels like a really weird fit for a club like West Ham considering their fans' past, y'know, conduct towards Tottenham Hotspur. A cursory social media search suggests this isn't the most popular signing with that lot. I do really, honestly hope that it doesn't turn out to be as bad a situation as I think it potentially could be, and that's all I'm going to say about that.
But Solomon is a tested and proven attacker at West Ham's current level and I have no doubt he'll do well there. Honestly, for what it's worth I'm just glad it's (almost) finally over.

Employers aren't abandoning performance-based pay raises after all.
Following backlash over workplaces doling out across-the-board salary increases, also known as "peanut ****** er" raises, rather than providing raises based on individual performance, more employers plan to step back from that practice next year.
The new data from compensation research firm Payscale shows employers are likely to favor more differentiated, merit-based pay. Just 32% of organizations are planning a peanut ****** er pay increase approach in 2027, down from 36% that actually gave one in 2026. "That's a significant drop-off," Ruth Thomas, pay equity strategist at Payscale, told Yahoo Finance.
Even better: Average pay ****** ps are expected to tick up. Employers plan a 3.5% average increase in 2027, up from 3.4% in 2026. That's on par with inflation but far below 2023, when workers scored pay hikes averaging 4.8%.
"We're starting to see some optimism — 30% of US organizations expect higher salary increases in 2027 from 2026," Thomas said.

Arsenal are one of the clubs interested in a move for Endrick, according to The Sun, with the Real Madrid forward now potentially allowed to leave the club this summer because he may struggle to feature in many matches.

Newcastle United's search for another full-back continues as the Magpies look to strengthen one of the thinnest areas of his squad before the Premier League season begins.
NUFC only has Tino Livramento on the right and Lewis Hall on the left side, making the addition of two full-backs or a versatile one one of the club's top priorities for the remainder of the transfer market.
Against that backdrop, and according to TEAMtalk, Newcastle is among several Premier League clubs monitoring Norwich City defender Kellen Fisher, although completing a deal could prove difficult because the Championship side has no intention of selling their man.
"Norwich City have made it clear they have no intention of selling Kellen Fisher this summer despite growing interest from the Premier League," TEAMtalk wrote. "The England Under-21 international has emerged as one of the Championship's most highly-rated young full-backs, with a number of top-flight clubs monitoring his progress ahead of a potential move."
The report adds that Norwich head coach Philippe Clement has made his stance clear over the 22-year-old's future.

Serie A Napoli face a roadblock in their attempt to sign ******* nal forward Gabriel Jesus this summer.
According to today's edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport via Calcio Napoli 24, Napoli's interest in acquiring the services of ******* nal man Gabriel Jesus on a loan deal ahead of the new season cannot proceed due to the Brazilian's contract tenure with the Premier League champions.
The Partenopei have entered the market to search for a striker following Romelu Lukaku's decision to leave the club. Jesus has been eyed by sporting director Giovanni Manna as the potential successor to the Belgian, but they must consider the external factors that will determine a transfer.
Jesus has only one year left on his current contract with ******* nal, and therefore, he cannot leave on a season-long loan spell elsewhere. While he will be available to speak for a free transfer with any club in January, Napoli cannot wait that long to materialise his signing.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has responded to India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant's public appeal for help in acquiring land in his home state, ***** uring the cricketer that the government will extend all possible ***** istance in accordance with the rules.
Pant, who is currently in Sri Lanka with the Indian team ahead of the two-Test series, had taken to social media platform X in the early hours of Saturday to seek the chief minister's intervention after struggling to purchase land in Uttarakhand for nearly three years.
In a heartfelt post, the 28-year-old revealed his desire to move his base from Delhi to Uttarakhand and build his first home in the state where his roots lie. Ronald Araujo's imminent loan move to Liverpool has reshaped Barcelona's transfer plans almost overnight.
The Uruguayan centre-back has reached a verbal agreement to join the Premier League side on loan for the upcoming season, with the deal also including a purchase option for the Reds.
It is an unexpected departure, and one that has prompted Deco and Barcelona's sporting department to reassess the market in search of a replacement for a position that, until now, had not been considered a priority.
With Araujo heading to Anfield, Cristian Romero has once again emerged as one of Barcelona's leading defensive targets, reports SPORT.
The Argentine international has been admired by the club for some time thanks to his aggressive defending, competitive mentality and ability to play on the front foot.

Emerald Wealth Partners, an independent ***** et and wealth management firm based in Zurich, released its Q2 2026 investor letter for the "Focused Equity Strategy." A copy of the letter can be downloaded here. The Strategy reported a 0.8% gross return for the second quarter of 2026. Equity markets rallied after the first quarter's Iran shock faded and oil prices reversed their spike, but the advance remained narrow and concentrated in cyclical semiconductor and memory stocks benefiting from supply constraints. The letter warned that investors were treating peak-cycle earnings as durable, while FOMO, IPO demand, and a US cyclically adjusted P/E ratio near 40 pointed to late-cycle market behavior. Long-term fundamentals are currently undervalued by the market, leading to underperformance in the strategy, notably due to the portfolio's avoidance of low-quality momentum-driven semiconductor stocks, which boosted the benchmark this quarter. It remains focused on enterprise infrastructure, digital platforms, custom silicon, and networking businesses that hold customer relationships, workflow data, distribution, and efficiency advantages, which could allow them to monetize AI rather than be displaced by it. Please review the Strategy's top five holdings for its key selections.
In its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, Emerald Wealth Partners Focused Equity Strategy highlighted Lockheed Martin Corporation (NYSE:LMT). Lockheed Martin Corporation (NYSE:LMT) is an aerospace and defense company that engages in the research, design, development, manufacture, integration, and sustainment of technology systems, products, and services. On August 04, 2026, Lockheed Martin Corporation (NYSE:LMT) closed at $589.33 per share. The one-month return of Lockheed Martin Corporation (NYSE:LMT) was 11.62%, and its shares gained 35.52% over the past 52 weeks. Lockheed Martin Corporation (NYSE:LMT) has a market capitalization of $13.01 billion.
Emerald Wealth Partners Focused Equity Strategy stated the following regarding Lockheed Martin Corporation (NYSE:LMT) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"The ceasefire also weighed on Lockheed Martin Corporation (NYSE:LMT), which gave back part of a strong first quarter and detracted 55 bps. Our fundamental ***** sment is unchanged: conflict on European soil and Washington's pressure on NATO allies continue to drive demand for the company's systems sharply higher. But that demand comes with a twist — a business model that now requires heavier investment and carries more risk than Lockheed used to. Having trimmed the position close to its peak in the first quarter, we are comfortable with what we hold today."

When longtime mortgage loan officer Hillary Moussali worked at a local Chase bank branch, an elderly man walked in holding a mail advertisement with the bank's name, promising "super low" refinancing rates. Moussali took one look at the mailer and knew it wasn't sent from Chase.
"I read the fine print, which he probably couldn't even see," said Moussali, who worked as a loan officer for Chase from 2016 to 2021. "If he had just called the 1-800 number, who knows what they would have charged him."
There's a good chance they would've charged him thousands of extra dollars in unnecessary costs, according to new Bankrate research that finds a costly "Seniority Tax" is consistently imposed on older refinancers. The Seniority Tax is a targeted example of a wider Hidden Homeownership Tax revealed by our research — the systemic overpayment by American mortgage borrowers.

Former New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs reportedly generated interest from the Kansas City Chiefs, Miami Dolphins and Las Vegas Raiders before signing with the Washington Commanders, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Diggs was released by the Patriots in early March, ahead of free agency. He spent the entire spring and most of the summer searching for the right situation to join and continue his NFL career. Ultimately, he settled on returning to play for his hometown NFL team.
"The Chiefs reached out at one point. The Dolphins reached out. The Raiders reached out. He had some conversations with some teams, but I think it was going to be Washington all along," Schefter said on Diggs when appearing on The Pat McAfee Show.
Diggs is coming off a 1,000-yard receiving season with the Patriots, and he could make a big impact on a Commanders team that already has another top-tier receiver in Terry McLaurin.
At the very least, he should serve as a reliable receiving option for third-year quarterback Jayden Daniels.

A man charged with starting one of the wildfires in Spokane, Washington, that have destroyed hundreds of buildings planned the crime for weeks and researched when the weather would be best for igniting it, police said.
Aaron Farinacci expressed that "fire is powerful, beautiful, and that things that go through fire experience a kind of rebirth," Spokane County Detective Michael Drapeau said in a court filing Wednesday, recalling his interview with him.
Farinacci, 37, is charged with starting the Old Trails Fire, one of three fires in the Spokane area that have burned more than 850 homes and forced the evacuation of tens of thousands of people. He is also charged in connection with two smaller fires ignited in the summer of 2025.
He was scheduled to be arraigned on three first-degree arson charges Thursday, but his lawyer asked for a competency evaluation before he enters a plea. Spokane Superior Court Judge Jeremy Schmidt said he would review that request. He set bond for $2 million, ruling that Farinacci was a risk to community safety, a flight risk and that there was potential for a violent offense.
Defense attorney Colin Charbonneau did not immediately return messages seeking comment.

In this segment of the AI Investor Podcast from 24/7 Wall St., Eric Bleeker reviews Lam Research, a semiconductor equipment holding originally recommended to the million dollar AI portfolio he manages as part of a collection of memory-adjacent stocks. The quarter itself was solid: $1.82 in EPS against $1.70 expected, with the standout being guidance of $2.15 for next quarter versus a street estimate of $1.84. The stock jumped about 20% the next morning, though Bleeker attributes most of that to how far it had fallen during July's selloff rather than to the results, which he characterizes as good but not spectacular. His hesitation is valuation. Against a full-year estimate of $9.40, the shares trade a bit above 30 times forward earnings, which he considers the upper end of the historical range. He is not planning to add more with other opportunities across the market after a steep July sell-off. The broader read on semiconductor equipment is more bullish. Taiwan Semiconductor raised capex, Intel sounded optimistic on capex needs, and Bleeker guesses 2028 equipment spending could come in roughly 25% above where Wall Street currently models it. He is particularly interested in advanced packaging and testing, sub-verticals growing faster than the overall **** e. Lam remains a core long-term holding and, in his view, among the best operators in semi equipment.

Diamond Hill Capital, a First Eagle Investment Management company, issued its Q2 2026 investor letter for its "Mid Cap Strategy". A copy of the Q2 2026 investor letter can be downloaded here. In the quarter, equity markets posted strong returns as resilient economic growth and robust corporate earnings supported investor sentiment, although AI-related companies continued to dominate market leadership. Technology was the strongest-performing sector, while industrials also advanced and energy lagged as oil prices declined. The Fund returned 7.92% and the Russell Midcap Index returned 13.83%. Health care holdings were the largest positive contributor, supported by strength across managed care, diagnostics, and life sciences. However, stock selection and an underweight position in information technology remained the main relative headwinds. The strategy maintained limited exposure to highly valued semiconductor and memory companies, reflecting concerns that current valuations ***** ume an extended period of elevated AI spending. It also continued to ***** s software and services businesses individually based on how AI may affect their long-term competitive positions. Management emphasized higher-quality companies, attractive valuations, capital preservation, and durable long-term compounding while remaining cautious about elevated valuations, concentrated leadership, and the sustainability of the current AI investment cycle. Please review the Strategy's top five holdings for its key selections.

Amid LIV Golf's uncertain future, the league gained some positive momentum this week when CEO Scott O'Neil announced a new lead investor had been secured as the Saudi PIF's funding ends this month.
LIV now appears to have a lifeline to continue operating in 2027, but many crucial questions remain about the league's next steps—for not only next year but also the conclusion of this season.
The identity of LIV's new financial backer is not yet being revealed, with O'Neil only saying there is an agreement in place that's expected to be finalized next month. LIV's search for new investors this summer included conversations with private equity firms, high-net-worth individuals, professional sports team owners, and family offices, among others.
Global private equity and credit firm BC Partners is reportedly exploring a deal with LIV. The firm's credit arm is "leading a group of investors looking at lending money to LIV," according to Bloomberg, which reported that LIV's "talks with BC Partners and others are advancing, but nothing has yet been finalized and details could still change."
A private credit deal would mean that a firm would likely expect to be repaid, as opposed to a focus on the upside from the investment in a private equity deal.

Baker Mayfield is focused on leading the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2026, but until a long-term contract extension is signed, his future will continue to generate speculation around the NFL. In a recent article, Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox identified five teams that could keep a close eye on Mayfield's contract situation throughout the season if he and the Buccaneers fail to reach an agreement.
Those teams include the Minnesota Vikings, New York Jets, Pittsburgh Steelers, Arizona Cardinals, and Carolina Panthers.
The reasoning is simple: franchise quarterbacks rarely become available. Mayfield has revitalized his career in Tampa Bay, emerging as one of the NFL's more consistent veteran quarterbacks while leading the Buccaneers to multiple playoff appearances. If contract negotiations remain unresolved and he were somehow to reach free agency, he would immediately become one of the most sought-after players on the market.
Each team presents an interesting scenario.
The Vikings could find themselves searching for a proven veteran depending on how their quarterback situation develops with newly acquired Kyler Murray and JJ McCarthy. The Jets and Steelers have both faced uncertainty at the position in recent years and could look to an established starter if their current plans don't produce results, especially with Aaron Rodgers confirming this will be his last season. The Cardinals were also mentioned as a team that traded away Kyler Murray and is now relying on journeyman Jacoby Brissett, while the Panthers would add an intriguing NFC South wrinkle if they ever explored the possibility of pursuing Tampa Bay's quarterback as Bryce Young enters a crucial year.

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — Police raided the Korea Football ****** ociation's offices Thursday as part of an investigation into alleged irregularities in the 2024 appointment of Hong Myung-bo as South Korea's national team coach.
Investigators searched the KFA headquarters in Cheonan, about 90 kilometers (56 miles) south of Seoul, and the KFA House in central Seoul, looking for evidence that officials improperly intervened in the hiring process.
A police investigation began shortly after Hong's appointment but had stalled this summer after nearly two years without a conclusion. It gained renewed attention amid public anger after South Korea was eliminated in the group stage of the 2026 World Cup.
Hong, who had also led the team at the 2014 World Cup, stepped down after the tournament, as did Chung Mong-gyu as federation president. Both appeared before a parliamentary hearing at the National ****** embly in Seoul in July.
Former KFA technical director Lee Lim-saeng reportedly offered Hong the job at a bakery near the coach's home.

Liverpool's search for defensive reinforcements continues to gather pace, and Djed Spence is increasingly becoming a name that refuses to disappear from the conversation. The Tottenham full back enjoyed an impressive campaign before enhancing his reputation on the international stage, leaving Liverpool with another important decision as Andoni Iraola reshapes his squad.
Recruitment rarely revolves around one outstanding tournament. Clubs invest months, sometimes years, in building profiles on players before deciding whether circumstances make a move worthwhile. In Spence's case, there appears to be enough evidence across club and international football to justify serious consideration.
Liverpool's interest in Djed Spence makes sense for several reasons. His ability to operate comfortably on either flank offers valuable flexibility, something every elite squad now prioritises across a demanding campaign.
Last season, Spence featured 23 times in the Premier League for Tottenham and added another eight appearances in the Champions League. More importantly, he demonstrated that he could adapt to different tactical demands while maintaining his athleticism and defensive discipline.
His performances earned him an England call up for the 2026 World Cup under Thomas Tuchel, an opportunity that further underlined how far his stock has risen.
